THE EFFECT OF MULTIPLE-SLOT SUBSTITUTION DRILL IN TEACHING PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ACHIEVEMENT AT THE EIGHTH GRADE OF SMP IT ASY-SYADZILI PAKIS-MALANG

This study investigated students’ speaking achievement on present continuous tense using multiple-slot substitution drill at the eighth grade students of SMP IT Asy-Syadzili Pakis-Malang. Designed used in this study was true experimental research conducted with one experimental group taught present continuous tense using multiple-slot substitution drill and control group without multiple-slot substitution drill. To collect the data, the researcher used speaking post-test in oral test form. In analyzing the data, the researcher used IBM spss statistic versions. 20 application of independent sample t.test to know the differences between experimental and control groups. After applying the statistical computation, it was found that the mean score of experimental group (X) in post-test 53.58 with standard deviation 3.951 was higher than the mean score of control group (Y) in post-test 41.57 with standard deviation 2.750 . So it can be concluded that students taught present continuous tense using multiple-slot substitution drill achieve better than taught without multiple-slot substitution drill at the eighth grade students of SMP IT Asy-Syadzili Pakis-Malang.

Effectiveness of Distraction Technique on Pain Reduction After Administration Subcutaneous Injection Among Children in Immunization Rooms

Pain is described as "an unpleasant, subjective sensory and emotional experience associated with existing or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage," according to the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). Suffering results from untreated or ineffectively treated pain. The method of administering medication subcutaneously, which is frequently done by nurses, is associated with discomfort, pain, and injury to the tissue that is being injected. The primary goal of the study was to determine whether using a distraction approach helped children in the immunisation rooms of particular hospitals in Gurugram feel less discomfort after receiving a subcutaneous injection. Materials and Methods: 60 children were chosen by the purposive selection strategy from the hospital Gurugram's immunization rooms. The chosen individuals are then split into two equally sized groups. Results: In the assessment, the experimental group's mean score on the pre-facing rating scale was 6.93, while the control group's was 7.13, with an SD of 1.252. The experimental group's mean score on the post-faces rating scale is 2.00, whereas the control group's is 6.47, with a standard deviation of 1.548. Conclusion : The outcome demonstrates a movement in the sample's level of pain (hurts worse, hurts a lot, hurts a little more, hurts even more, hurts a little, doesn't hurt) in favour of the experimental group. When compared to the control group, it is because of the distraction strategy (an electronic moving toy).

Evaluating the influence of interactive simulations on learners' academic performance in stoichiometry

Traditional teaching strategies dominate science classrooms in Lesotho, resulting in poor academic performance at each level. Information and Communication Technology tools such as simulations offer potential benefits for improving science teaching. The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to evaluate the effect of simulations on learners' performance and retention of stoichiometry concepts using Solomon's four-group design. Purposive sampling of two existing Form E (Grade 12) classes, with 81 learners, led to the creation of four groups. The study responds to the research question: How does using simulations as part of an intervention affect learners' academic performance in stoichiometry? Data were collected as learners' scores for pre-tests and post-tests, designed to assess their understanding of stoichiometry, and analysed through ANOVA and t-tests. After the intervention, the experimental group's mean score (M = 44.2, a = 18) was higher than that of control group (M = 32.6, a = 15.8), and the difference between the two mean scores was statistically significant, namely t(81) = 3.14, p = 0.002. The experimental group had a higher mean score for retention in post-test (M = 47.4, a =16.1) than the control group (M = 37.2, a = 13.7) which was statistically significant, namely t(81) = 3.10, p = 0.003. Therefore, it was concluded that simulations enhanced learners' performance and could improve the retention of stoichiometry concepts. This study recommends that simulations be used to supplement the teaching and learning of science, in particular chemistry.

The Effect of Cultural Schemata on Improving Iraqi EFL Preparatory Pupils’ Achievement

The Current Study aims finding out the effect of the cultural schemata on EFL pupils’ achievement in learning English Language and finding out whether the lack of cultural schemata of EFL pupils of experimental group affect their ability in learning English Language. To conduct the study and fulfill its aims the following hypotheses are set: 1) There is no statistically significant difference between the mean score of experimental group who is taught cultural schemata and control group who taught by the traditional way in posttest. 2) To achieve the aims and confirm the hypotheses, the experimental design which is Non-Randomized Experimental Group Pretest –Posttest Design. The sample of the current study consists of (50) pupils in the fifth literary stage, derived from Al-Barudy preparatory school for girls. Both groups have been equalized in such variables from educational level of parents, age, English grades achievement in fourth stage, and the post and pretest of both groups. The experiment lasted two months, the researcher has taught the two groups during the academic year 2021-2022. To analyze the obtain data, different statistical means have been used many T-test for two independent samples to measure the pupils’ post-test achievement. After the statistically treatment of the data, the results expose that teaching pupils by using cultural schemata has provide it is effectiveness in rising pupils’ understanding and their ability to communicate in learning English Language Based on the results, the obtained conclusions in this study, suitable “recommendations and suggestions for further studies are put forward”.

Investigating the Effectiveness of Peer Assisted Learning Strategy in Solving Mathematical Word Problems: An Action Research with Grade Six Students

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of peer assisted learning strategy in solving mathematical word problems of grade six in a general classroom. A pre-test and post-test experimental research design was employed involving 8 students in the control group and 8 students in the experimental group respectively. Subject achievement test was administered for both the groups to determine the differences in their learning achievements before the intervention. Peer Assisted Learning strategy (PALS) was used as an instructional strategy. Mathematical word problems solving was taught using PALS in the treatment group while the control group was taught using a conventional method. A t-test for the pre-test revealed that there was no significant mean difference between the two groups, indicating a homogenous learning ability at the beginning (p=0.802). However, the post-test analysis revealed a statistical significant difference between the mean scores of experimental group (M=19.2) than the control group (M=10.9) at p=.00, indicating the improvement of students’ mathematical word problem solving skills due to the treatment of PALS. Thus, it is commendable that PALS can be used to help develop academic and social skills.

Schoology-Aided Instruction: Measuring the Effectiveness for Student-Teachers’ Reading Comprehension Achievement

This study was a quasi-experimental research and oriented to measure the effectiveness for student-teachers’ reading comprehension achievement. There were 80 student-teachers who joined and were grouped into experimental and control groups. They were treated for eight meetings. Both pretest and posttest instruments were integrated for collecting the data. Both paired and independent t-tests were employed to know improvement of the two groups. The findings showed that in pretest, both of groups encountered problems related to reading comprehension. However, after being treated with this Schoology learning management system (LMS) for several meetings, experimental group students gained better achievement in reading comprehension comparing to control group. Mean scores of experimental group (75.250) was bigger than control group gained (61.875). By the same token, the F-test score (0.392) with df (78) and sig. value (0.000) informed about different qualities gained by both groups, i.e., experimental and control. In a nutshell, the integration of Schoology LMS is more effective in increasing students’ reading comprehension comparing to conventional mode of learning.

THE EFFECT OF MIND MAPPING TO STUDENTS’ ABILITY IN READING COMPREHENSION AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP SWASTA AL-MUKMIN

The students of the eighth grade at SMP Swasta Al-Mukmin had difficulty in understanding the text which caused them could not find the main essence of the text. Thus, this research was conducted to know the effect of mind mapping on students’ ability in reading comprehension. This research was conducted using a quantitative quasi experimental design. The sample was divided into two groups, namely experimental group and control group which consisted of 35 students for each. This research used pre-test and post-test in the form of reading comprehension test as the research instrument. The research result concluded that the students who were taught by mind mapping had a better reading comprehension. The data analysis showed the pre-test mean score of experimental group was 55.4 while the control group was 54.5 and the score was increased after applying mind mapping. The post-test mean score of experimental group was 77.7 and 69.5 for control group. The value of mean score of both groups was calculated using T-test. It was obtained the value of T-count was 3.96 while T-table was 1.66 under the degree of freedom 68 and the degree of significance 5%. Since T-count value was higher than T-table value, the hypotheses were proved. Therefore, it is stated that Ha (alternative hypothesis) was accepted and Ho (null hypothesis) was rejected. Based on this research result, it is suggested that the English teachers apply the mind mapping technique since this technique is one of many ways teachers can apply to enhance students reading comprehension of texts easily and efficiently.

Teaching Grammar-In-Context and Its Impact In Minimizing Students’ Grammatical Errors

This study is conducted to determine the effectiveness of teaching grammar-in-context to minimize students‘ grammatical errors in writing. The design of the study was a quasi-experimental with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group. The samples of the study were taken from the population of the tenth-grade students. The control group was taught by conventional grammar which was separately given with writing skills. Likewise, the experimental one was treated by teaching grammar-in-context. The results of the study showed that the mean score in the post-test was higher than that in the pretest; and the mean score of experimental group increased 16.20 point after the treatment. This result indicated that teaching grammarin-context is considered to be effective in minimizing students‘ grammatical errors in writing.

The Effect Of Using Jakarta Post Headlines And Sub Headlines as Teaching Media Towards The Students Vocabulary Mastery

This research is about the effect of using Jakarta post headlines as teaching mediatowards the students’ vocabulary mastery. The objective of the study is to find outwhether Jakarta post headlines and sub headlines affects students’ vocabulary mastery.This study was conducted by applying experimental quantitative research. The subject ofthe study was the second year students of SMP N.17 Medan. The researcher took VIII-4which consists of 30 students as experimental group using Jakarta post headlines and subheadlines media and VIII-1 which consists of 30 students as control group usedconventional method or without Jakarta post headlines and sub headlines. The populationof this research was 60 students which consist of two parallel classes. The researcher tookboth groups as total sampling to see the effect of using Jakarta post headlines and subheadlines as teaching media towards the students’ vocabulary mastery. The data weretaken by giving vocabulary test which consists of word completion and matching. Thetests were divided into two tests: pre-test and post-test for both experimental and controlgroup. The mean score of pre-test in experimental group is 53.73 and the post-test is79.86. The mean score of pre-test in control group is 43.86 and the post test is 58.667. Itis concluded that the mean score of experimental group is higher than control group. Theresult that t-calculated > t-table at the level of significance p = 0.01 (3.095>2.660). Thealternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It means thatJakarta post headlines and sub headlines can be used as teaching media as alternative toenrich students’ vocabulary mastery at the second year students of Junior High School.key words: Jakarta post headlines and sub headlines, Vocabulary

EFFECTIVENESS OF ONLINE FILM POSTERS ON STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

This research aimed to determine whether the online film posters as a teaching medium significantly affected students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. This research was conducted using a quasi experimental research with pre-test and post-test design. The population was 60 students of the tenth grade senior high school of MAS Muhammadiyah 13 Sei Rampah, Medan. There were two parallel classes as the population, namely Class X IPA and X IPS. Each class consisted of 30 students. The sample in this research was taken using the cluster sampling technique to decide the experimental and control groups. X IPA was the experimental group and X IPS was the control group. The experimental group consisted of 30 students was taught using online film posters and the control group consisted of 30 students was taught without using any media. There were five meetings during the research. The first and the fifth meetings were administered as pre-test and post-test while the other three meetings were administered as the treatment sessions.The instrument used to collect the data was a writing test. The students of both groups were assigned to write a descriptive text to be administered as the research data. It was obtained that the mean score of experimental group in pre-test was 74.86 and 79.93 in post-test while the mean score of control group in pre-test was 73.66 and 69.9 in post-test respectively. These statistical data were then analyzed using t-test formula. The result of t-test calculation showed the value of t-observed was 3.20 and the value of t-table was 2.00 in level of significance of 0.05 and df=58. This meant that t-observed was higher than t-table (3.20 > 2.00). Based on the finding, then alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null alternative (Ho) was rejected. Thus, it was concluded that online film posters significantly affected students’ achievement in writing descriptive text.

IMPROVING ENGLISH STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AND LEARNING DIFFICULTY BASED ON SOME VARIABLES

Experimental study in this article is aimed to investigate the effect of reading comprehension improvement for English language students toward their learning difficulty by using the reading speed strategy and identify the effect of gender and teaching method on the improvement of students’ reading comprehension. To achieve the objectives, a test was prepared to measure students’ reading comprehension after ensuring validity and reliability. The study involved 200 English students of the schools registered in Direktorat Pendidikan Wilayah Irbid II in the academic year of 2020/2021. They were 80 males and females, who are selected by using a simple method. The sample was categorized into two experimental groups with training and two control groups with the same material learning in a traditional method. The test was distributed to the groups before applying the strategy to ensure the whole group. The result showed that there are differences between the mean score of experimental group and the mean score of control group, and in favor of the experimental group. The result also showed that there are no differences among the mean score of students, which is attributed to gender.

THE EFFECT OF DRILL TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY IN LEARNING ENGLISH

This research was aimed to answer research question “Is there any effect of Drill Technique towards students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English?” The kind of this research was an experimental research in which divided into two groups were treated with differently which experimental group was by using drill group and second control group was using three phases. The sample of this research were all of first grade students at SMAN 1 Batulayar consisted of 75 students. This proved by figure of means group, the standard deviation and value of t-test was seen that the mean score of experimental group was higher than the mean score of control group (49.7 for the experimental and 4.47 for the control group). Based on statistical analysis using t-test showed that t-table 3.57 > 2.00 t-table at confidence level 0.05 % (95%) and 3.57 > 2.66 t-table at confidence level 0.01% (90%). Finally, it concludes that the use of Drill Technique has positive effect toward students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English at the first year students of SMAN 1 Batulayar in academic year 2021/2022.

THE EFFECT OF QUESTION ANSWER RELATIONSHIP (QAR) STRATEGY ON STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENT IN READING COMPREHENSION

The focus of this research is to demonstrate the influence of question-and-answer learning on students' reading interest in narrative texts. Is there an effect of question answer relationship strategy on students' reading skills in reading narrative texts? Class Vlll SMP Methodist 9 Medan is the problem in this research. This form of research is a quasi-experimental study that includes an experimental and a control group, as well as pre- and post-tests. The post-test results showed that 22 pupils (88 percent) received very high scores and 3 students (12 percent) received high scores. The experimental group's mean score was likewise raised. Prior to using the QAR technique, the mean was 67.04. The mean after learning using the QAR technique was 83.36. The median in the pre-test was 76, but after learning with the QAR approach, it was 82. Prior to treatment, the experimental group's standard deviation was 1.676. After learning by applying QAR strategy, the standard deviation in the experimental group was 2.084. Students are more engaged in reading after employing the question-and-answer learning paradigm to improve their interest. This demonstrates that the question-and-answer interaction strategy's learning effect has a significant impact on students' success in reading narrative texts

APPLICATION OF PARTNER READING STRATEGY IN IMPROVING READING COMPREHENSION

The objective of this research is to find out that the Application of Partner Reading Strategy improves students’ reading comprehension. The population was the grade Eight students at SMP Negeri 1 Toribulu. The researcher used quasi- experimental design. The researcher sample were VIII A as the experimental group which consisted of 28 students and VIII B as the control group which consisted 28 student. The test was administered twice: pre test and post test. The data were analyzed statically in order to find out the significant achievement of the students in the pre test and the post test. The experimental group was given the treatment by applying Partner Reading Strategy, while the control group was taught reading descriptive text with conventional strategy. The instrument used in collecting data was a test given as pre-test and post-test. The result of tests shows that the mean score of experimental group was 88.0 from 52,3 in the pretest, and the control group was 75 from 54,5 in the pretest. This score shows that the mean score of the experimental group is higher than the mean score of the control group on posttest. By applying one-tailed test at 0.05 level of significance with 54 degree of freedom (df), it is found that, the tcounted value of (1,87) is greater than ttable value (1.67). It confirms that, the research hypothesis was accepted. Based on the result, it concludes that, Partner Reading Strategy improves students’ reading comprehension at the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Toribulu.

The effect of the British National Corpus' Frequency Lists What’s App Group Discussion on L2 Learners' Receptive Vocabulary Size

This quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the effects of vocabulary learning through WhatsApp chat group discussion on L2 students' vocabulary size at a university in Pakistan. British National Corpus' (BNC's) frequency lists were used for the treatment of the experimental group. Thirty students were placed into each group, one experimental and one control group. Instruments used to collect data included an established vocabulary size test, and interviews were conducted to measure the perception of participants from the experimental group about vocabulary learning from the frequency lists through WhatsApp. The independent t-test observed that the experimental group had a significant treatment effect, and improvement was observed in the mean score p-value < .05. The qualitative data were thematically analysed. The primary conclusion of this study is that the WhatsApp group vocabulary discussion did significantly help improve the experimental group's mean score, illustrating the positive impact of the WhatsApp vocabulary peer discussion on the group's vocabulary size.

Effect of Fenugreek on Lactation among Postnatal Women’s of Selected Hospital at Vadodara

Background of the Study: Breast feeding is the pleasant vitamins for infants. Most of the postnatal moms face the trouble of inadequate breast milk which influences the wellness of an infant. Hence the researcher had taken up this study, used fenugreek among the postnatal mother who has insufficient breast milk secretionas an effective way to boost the production of breast milk.
 Methods: A quantitative research approach with experimental pre-test post-test control group design was used to assess effect of fenugreek on lactation among postnatal woman. The study was conducted among 60 postnatal mothers in a selected hospital, Vadodara.
 Results: The present study revealed that in experimental group in pre-test, majority 25(83.3%) had insufficient lactation and only 5(16.7%) had sufficient lactation while in post-test 20(66.7%) had sufficient lactation and 10(33.3%) had insufficient lactation. The impact of fenugreek on lactation amongst experimental group turned into examined through the usage of paired t test with obtained t value (t=8.348, df=29, p=0.001) turned into statistically highly significant at p<0.05 level of significance. The post-test lactation revealed that in control group mean score was 22.97±3.755 and in experimental group mean score was 30.03±5.334 with mean difference of 7.06 with obtained t value (t=5.934, df=58, p=0.001) was statistically significant at p<0.05 level. The association between pre interventions lactation of postnatal woman of experimental and control group with selected demographic variables such as age, educational status, occupational status, religion, residency, type of family and food habits were found statistically not significant at p<0.05 level with pre interventions lactation of postnatal woman of experimental and control group. 
 Conclusion: The overall effect of fenugreek on lactation among experimental group was tested by using paired t test with obtained t value (t=8.348, df=29, p=0.001) was statistically highly significant at p<0.05 level of significance. Study findings revealed that fenugreek was effective in promoting lactation of postnatal mothers in experimental group as compared to control group.

The Effect of using the 5E Instructional Strategy in developing critical thinking skills for third-grade intermediate students in the jurisprudence course: أثر استخدام استراتيجية دورة التعلم الخماسية في تنمية مهارات التفكير الناقد لدى طالبات الصف الثالث المتوسط في مقرر الفقه

This study investigates the effect of the 5E Instructional strategy on the development of critical thinking skills of intermediate third graders through Jurisprudence course compared to the normal way of teaching. In order to achieve this goal the researcher adopted a pre- post two- group (experimental and control) quasi- experimental research methodology. The tool of the study was a critical thinking skills test based on Mary McFarland's strategy. After the validation and calculation of the tool's reliability, the researcher piloted the tool at a random sample consisting of (63) female intermediate third graders in thirtieth Medina School. The study used a number of appropriate statistical analyses which included: means of scores, standard deviation, alpha Cronbach coefficient reliability test of critical thinking skills, and T- test for independent samples to ensure group homogeneity of study groups, and to see the effect of using the 5E Instructional strategy on developing the critical thinking skills of the students. The obtained results indicated that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (a = 0.05) between the mean scores of experimental group and control group students in the critical thinking skills test in favor of the experimental group. In the light of these results, a number of recommendations have been made, namely: religious science teachers should be supervised towards more attention to the development of critical thinking skills; paying attention to the involvement of the student in the learning process; encouraging students to express their opinions and being able to defend their point of view in order to increase the level of critical thinking skills and finally to employ the 5E Instructional strategy in teaching jurisprudence course. Based on the findings of the study, a group of suggestions for future studies have been made that can be considered as extension to the current study.

Enhancing Students Speaking Skills by Making Video Youtube TUTORIAL AS PROJECT BASED LEARNING

The aims of this study were to know how effective of making video tutorial as project-based learning to improve students speaking skills and to know the student’s attitude toward project-based learning. This study employed mix method design, both qualitative and quantitative research design. The researcher used purposive sampling. The selection was based on the characteristics of the population and the purpose of the study. The subjects were 30 students of informatics management program. The result of this study showed that the mean score of experimental group was higher than control group. The pronunciation aspect, the mean of experimental group got score 81.3 and in control group got score 75.07. In grammar aspect the mean score of experimental group was 80.9 and in control group was 73.63. The mean score of experimental group in vocabulary aspect was 81.4 and the control group was 74.5. The last aspect was fluency, the mean score in experimental group was 80.9 and in control group was 75.03. From the students attitudes also showed good effect toward implementation of project-based learning in improving students’ speaking skill.

PEER AND SELF-ASSESSMENT IN TEACHING WRITING OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT: A CASE OF THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 RANDUBLATUNG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

This research was conducted because it was found that most of the students of SMA N 1 Randublatung had difficulty using the correct grammar, spelling form, and vocabulary. Therefore, peer and self-assessment are used in this study. The main objective of this research is to find out if there is a substantial difference in the mean score of experimental group I, which is taught by peer assessment, and experimental group II, which is taught by self-assessment in teaching writing of descriptive text. The researcher employed a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control or comparison group designs in this study. In this quasi-experimental design, there were two groups: the first was the experimental group I, which was assessed by peer assessment. The other one was experimental group II, which was assessed by self-assessment. The results of the post-test scores of both classes using the Mann Whitney test. Sig value or P Value is 0.906. Because of the P value ˃ 0.05, there was no significant difference between the two groups. The answer of the statistical hypothesis there was no significant difference between student learning outcomes applied by peer and self-assessment.

The Effectiveness of Integraged Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness on Marital Conflict and Anxiety in Women with Pathological Spousal Jealousy

Aim: Pathological jealousy toward spouse is one of the most common complaints of couples referring for couple therapy. The research aimed to study the effectiveness of integrated cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulnes on decreasing of marital conflict and anxiety in women withpathological jealousy toward spouse. Methods: For this purpose, a quasi-experimental pretest, posttest and follow up design with control group was used. The study sample included 34 women with Pathological jealousy who were selected through purposive sampling among women referredto counseling centers in Isfahan. The intervention method included10integrated sessions of cognitive-behaviorla therapy and mindfulness that was implemented for experimental group. In order to assess variables Marital Conflict Questionnaire (Barati & Sanayi, 2000) and State Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, et al., 1983) were used. The data analysis conducted by multivariate analysis of variance with pretest and control. Findings: The findings showed a significant decline in the mean scores of experimental group, both in anxiety and in marital conflict, in pretest and follow-up stages, but no tangible changes were observed in the control group scores. (p<0.0005). Conclusion: Thus, integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness has been effective in reducing marital conflict and anxiety in women with pathological jealousy toward spouse, and could be used by couple therapists and other psychotherapists.
