Evaluation of Academic Information System Using Delone and Mclane Success Model: A Case Study ff Academic Information System Hasanuddin University

This study examines the effectiveness of the utilization (individual impact) of academic information systems at Hasanuddin University using the DeLone and McLean information system success model. This model has seven hypotheses to examine the construct relationships including system quality predicts user satisfaction (H1), information quality predicts user satisfaction (H2), system quality predicts actual use (H3), information quality predicts actual use (H4), user satisfaction predicts actual use (H5a), actual use predicts user satisfaction (H5b), user satisfaction predicts individual impact (H6), and actual use predicts individual impact (H7). We use structural equation modeling with Partial Least Square technique. The results show that H1, H2, H6, H7 have a significant positive impact and the remaining hypothesis have no significant positive impact. In conclusion, indicators that influence the effectiveness of using the system are on the system quality variable and the quality of information with the greatest influence on the quality of information.

Improving the Financial Security of National Health Insurance using Cloud-Based Blockchain Technology Application

Since Bitcoin's success, there has been a greater emphasis on researching the use of blockchain in a wide range of applications, such as agriculture, education, government, voting systems, etc. This generation of Blockchain applications is termed blockchain 3.0. Blockchain technology provides enhanced security, auditability, privacy, accountability, and many more features over a centralized system. Fraud in insurance is an international problem affecting all insurance subdomains in both developed and developing countries. Fraud, corruption, and many other data-related problems are threatening the financial security of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in Ghana and if not attended to, the core aims of the scheme to provide universal healthcare services will not be realized. Consequently, the objective of this work is to design and implement a blockchain-based solution to protect the NHIS from plummeting financially. This paper presents the conceptual view of the proposed system, sequence and use case diagrams, data management framework, smart notification system, and smart claim processing system. The system was evaluated using the DeLone & McLean Information Systems Success Model. It was used to validate the behavioural aspect of the system. The study discovered a significant influence of information quality and user satisfaction. On the contrary, system quality seems to have an almost significant influence on the use and user satisfaction of the proposed system.

Analyzing student aspirations factors affecting e-learning system success using a structural equation model.

E-learning system success factors identification is of major interest in higher education. Understanding the role of students’ aspirations factor affecting the success of the e-learning system is a challenge for most educational institutions. The present study aims to analyze the effects of students’ aspirations factors in ensuring the success of the e-learning system through a developed research model extended from the integrated updated Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the DeLone and McLean Information System Success Model. The study participants who made up the model data sample were collected from 379 students engaged in the e-learning system at universities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Students’ aspirations are resumed in Motivation, Expectation, and Enjoyment factors. The structural equation model was used to analyze the main causes and effects that would guide students towards the use and success of the e-learning system. The study results showed the strong relationship between the students’ aspirations factors (Motivation, Expectation, and Enjoyment) and the adoption factors (Intention to Use and Perceived Usefulness) that lead to increased students’ confidence that e-learning adds value to their educational experience. In addition, results revealed the determining role of the effect of the Enjoyment factor on the benefits expected from the e-learning system process. Therefore, higher education institutions that aspire to benefit the most from the e-learning system should pay close attention to the aspirations of their students and enhance their enjoyment, and then redefine the “e” in e-learning as enjoy rather than simply electronic.

Factors for Acceptance and Use of Mobile Money Interoperability Services

Using mobile phones for financial transactions has been on a sharp increase globally and particularly in Tanzania. The introduction of mobile money interoperability allows customers to undertake money transfers across different telecom mobile money accounts and bank accounts. This study aimed to find out factors that may influence the acceptance and successful use of mobile money services interoperability that are tailored to banking and unbanked users' intention by integrating three globally accepted theories; DeLonge and McLean information system success model, The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and The Task-Technology Fit (TTF) Theory. The study hypotheses were empirically tested using data from 447 mobile money users from both telecom and banks. Data were analysed using the correlation and regression technique. This study found that approximately 81.5% of the dependent variable, which is interoperability of mobile money services, was accounted for by the regression analysis and therefore can strongly be explained very well by independent variables, which are Perceived Ease of Use; price value; Network Availability; Security and Trust; Service quality; Task Characteristics. This study's findings provide valuable understandings for formulating effective strategies concerning financial inclusion to mobile money service providers, governments, and other stakeholders and expand the existing customer base to mobile money service providers. Moreover, this study's results will provide the basis for further refinement of technology acceptance and success models in the emerging mobile money service domain.

Development and validation of the e-learning satisfaction scale (eLSS)

AimThis study was conducted to develop the e-Learning Satisfaction Scale (eLSS) and to examine its validity and reliability. MethodsThe item pool was generated based on related scales, a literature review, and in-depth interviews with 14 participants who had e-learning experience based on the DeLone and McLean information system success theory. Subjects aged 20 or older with e-learning experience were recruited in the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungcheong provinces of South Korea using convenience sampling between June and August 2021. Content validity was verified by two nursing professionals. Exploratory factor analysis, convergent validity, and internal consistency reliability were examined with 150 subjects, and confirmatory factor analysis was undertaken with 154 subjects. ResultsThe eLSS consists of 17 items with three factors: content, interface, and communication. Convergent validity with the eLSS was supported, and Cronbach's alpha was .93. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good model fit (χ2 = 236.9, p < .001, Q = 2.11, SRMR = 0.07, RMSEA = 0.08, IFI = 0.92, AGFI = 0.97, NFI = 0.85, CFI = 0.92, PNFI = 0.70, PCFI = 0.75). ConclusionThe eLSS is a valid and reliable scale for quickly and easily measuring experiences with distance learning and the effectiveness of e-learning.

Explaining student loyalty towards using WhatsApp in higher education: an extension of the IS success model

PurposeRecent years have documented the growing interest in using WhatsApp in higher education. However, the determinants of students’ satisfaction and loyalty towards WhatsApp groups have received less attention. This study aims to extend the Delone and McLean information system success model by incorporating social and emotional factors to investigate the drivers of satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachData were collected through questionnaires completed by 308 undergraduate students. The partial least squares technique was used for data analysis.FindingsThe findings reveal that information quality, trust in members and social usefulness play crucial roles in shaping students’ satisfaction and loyalty to WhatsApp groups. System quality has no significant effect on satisfaction. Furthermore, emotional connection negatively moderates the relationship between social usefulness and satisfaction.Practical implicationsThe findings of this study will be useful for educators and practitioners seeking to integrate WhatsApp into their pedagogical repertoire. The results demonstrate the importance of considering the social and emotional needs of students in addition to the quality of the information provided.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first attempt to integrate system characteristics, particularly with social and emotional factors. Furthermore, this study extends the literature on WhatsApp use in higher education by testing the drivers of students’ satisfaction and loyalty.

Online learning readiness and online learning system success in Vietnamese higher education

PurposeThe article aims examine an integrated model of the technology acceptance model (TAM), the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) and DeLone and McLean information systems (D&M IS) success model to determine the effects of online learning readiness (OLR) on learners' online learning system (OLS) usage and their satisfaction. The authors also investigate the relationship between performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and OLR of students. Moreover, this work examines the mediate role of learner satisfaction in the linking of OLS usage and performance in Vietnamese higher education.Design/methodology/approachA total of 558 valid questionnaires were collected from students at five large universities in Vietnam to test the fit of proposed model, measurement model and structural relationships between constructs by using partial least squares (PLS) path analytics.FindingsPerformance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence have significant positive effects on OLR of students in online learning context. OLR has a positive impact on both learner satisfaction and OLS usage. The learner performance is significantly influenced by satisfaction while it is indirectly affected by OLS usage via satisfaction. In addition, OLS usage plays as a partial mediation variable in the relationship between OLR and satisfaction. The path model could explain 56% of variance of the learner performance.Research limitations/implicationsThis study has a few limitations. First, this study is cross-sectional, which allows the elaboration of correlations between variables but lacks confidence in causality exploration. Second, the self-reported data are inherently subjective, which might generate biased results in measuring learner performance.Practical implicationsThis research has implications for instructors and higher education organizations. The findings provide insights for instructors to manage efficiently the OLS adoption of students. Higher education organizations should understand and identify factors in terms of OLR, OLS usage, learner satisfaction and learner performance when OLSs are implemented in university. Performance expectancy, effort expectancy and social influence have been criticized for considering OLR.Originality/valueThis is the first empirical study to determine relationship between performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, OLR, OLS usage, satisfaction and performance in the context of online learning environment in Vietnam.

Students' Perceptions of E-Learning Systems at the Jordanian Universities Through the Lens of E-Business Booming During the Coronavirus Pandemic

This paper investigates undergraduate students’ perception and acceptance of e-learning systems at Jordanian universities. The framework of this study is guided by the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and, DeLone and McLean Information System Success Model. The online questionnaire is used to collect data from 411 undergraduate students at Jordanian public and private universities. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) is used to analyze the data. The findings suggest that (i) performance expectancy, facilitating conditions, and information quality have a significant, positive effect on the actual usage of e-learning systems, whereas system quality did not, (ii) the usage of e-learning systems positively influenced educational performance and students' satisfaction, (iii) the impact of COVID-19 moderate the relationship between the use of e-learning systems and educational performance and (iv) face to face is the most favorable educational-learning approach, followed by blended, and e-learning.

An assessment of business intelligence in public hospitals

In this paper, DeLone and McLean's information systems success model is empirically tested on 12 public hospitals in Denmark. The study aims to investigate the factors that contribute to business intelligence (BI) success. 1,352 BI endusers answered the questionnaire. A partial least square structural equation model was used to empirically test the model. We find that system quality is positively and significantly associated with use and user satisfaction, and that information quality is positively and significantly associated with user satisfaction. User satisfaction is positively and significantly related to individual impact. The other paths in the model are insignificant. Our findings also provide empirical support for the role of user satisfaction as a mechanism that mediates the relationship between information quality or system quality and individual impact. User satisfaction is not only a critical construct in the information systems success model but it also serves as a mediator. Generally, the model finds empirical support, as it has a good fit and predictive value.

Systematic Literature Review: Delone and Mclean Model using VOSViewer on Google Scholar Database Case Year 2010-2020

This study aims to examine the development of the Delone and Mclean information system success model. This research was conducted to determine: (1) a map of the development of the number of publications on the Delone and Mclean model; (2) find out which scientific articles have the highest number of citations; (3) knowing the development map of scientific publications based on keywords. The data sources used in this study are scientific articles in the Google Scholar database with the keywords Delone and Mclean, with the categories article title, abstract, keywords in the 2016-2020 range. The search results show that there are 270 scientific articles that match the keywords based on the Harzing's Publish or Perish application. The results showed that the development of the Delone and Mclean model in 2010 - 2020 which was the highest in the Google Scholar database occurred in 2020 which reached 68 publications or 25%. Meanwhile, the publications that have the highest number of citations are Nils Urbach and Benjamin Müller (2016) which were quoted 379 times. The development map of scientific publications based on the keywords delone and mclean analyzed using the VOSViewer application shows that the development map of the delone and mclean model is divided into 4 clusters. The red cluster 1 consists of 14 items, the green cluster 2 consists of 11 items, the blue cluster 3 consists of 10 items, and the yellow cluster 4 consists of 6 items.

Investigation of Students’ Satisfaction about H5P Interactive Video on MOODLE for Online Learning

Open universities play an important role in delivering distant learning education to the general public. MOODLE is an open-source programme that enables and maintains the success of open universities. One of the main concerns of teachers when using internet content is the students' interest, particularly when using recorded videos because synchronous interactive instruction is not possible for big groups of students online. In an e-learning system, interactive videos are crucial because they allow learners to interact with learning content while watching the video. The H5P module of MOODLE Learning Management System (LMS), was used to generate an interactive film in this empirical study. The focus of the study was to investigate students’ satisfaction about interactive video content on MOODLE in online learning. It was assessed by using the Delone and Mclean Information Systems Success Model. H5P interactive video content was developed and implemented on MOODLE and satisfaction of students was measured. The findings revealed that the value of video for learning effectiveness is depending on the level of interactivity. Students in the e-learning class with interactive video had much higher levels of satisfaction than students in other settings.

Measuring the Success of Recommender Systems: A PLS-SEM Approach

Recommender systems, which suggest relevant products to internet users, have become an integral part of our daily lives. The factors responsible for their success from the different stakeholder perspectives, however, have never been thoroughly investigated. This study proposes a novel model for measuring the success of recommender systems that consolidates different success factors. The model is a modified version of the DeLone and McLean Information Systems Success Model with trust as an additional latent variable. The model was evaluated in an empirical study with PLS-SEM. The proposed model exhibits a high predictive power and all structural paths were significant. The integration of trust is an important contribution as the path between information quality and trust yielded the highest path coefficient. The proposed model can be used by recommendation system providers to explain and predict the successful use of the systems and to improve business processes.

The Success of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs): An Investigation on Course Relevance

MOOCs have provided online learners easy access to education for professional development, helping them acquire new skills to advance their careers during the pandemic. However, the importance of linking MOOCs with job market demands has not been explored in the existing literature. This study investigates the role of course relevance in MOOC success by examining the effect of the alignment between courses and job market demands on learner satisfaction. By adopting the DeLone & McLean information system success model as a framework, we propose that course relevance positively influences learner satisfaction. This relationship is moderated by course level and accessibility. We tested our model using information about 1,987 MOOCs and 485 job postings. The results show that learners will be more satisfied with courses if instructors enhance course relevance on trending topics. The effect of relevance is greater for advanced courses and magnified by lifetime accessibility. This paper contributes to MOOC research from three perspectives: 1) it examines the role of course relevance in MOOC success; 2) it points out the importance of considering learners’ characteristics in evaluating MOOC success; 3) it provides valuable guidance on course design, which helps course providers maintain the prosperity of MOOCs in the post-pandemic.

The Validation of the Information Systems Success Model: LMS Integration during Covid-19

This study adapted DeLone &amp; McLean information system success model (D&amp;M IS success model) regarding the implementation of learning management system (LMS) during Covid-19. Six variables are included; system quality, information quality, service quality, system usage, user satisfaction, and net benefits with 23 initial items. A total of 279 undergraduate students from a public university in Indonesia participated in this study. The factor structure of the instrument was investigated using a survey design. The survey data were calculated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Six variables emerged from the EFA methods, establishing a valid and reliable model; a few items were eliminated due to cross-loading. The suggested model was successfully mapped as a consequence of the results. The CFA confirmed that the instrument was suitable for the Indonesian setting. The findings led to the development of 19 reliable and valid items. The measured scale has psychometric qualities, allowing for future research with a tool to capture D &amp; M IS success model technology integration.

Evaluating user satisfaction with the e-payment gateway system in Tanzania

Background: The Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Finance and Planning implemented the Government Electronic Payment Gateway (GePG) system to improve the whole cycle of revenue management. As of June 2020, the system has been implemented in 660 institutions, 28 commercial banks, and 6 mobile money operators. Whilst the initial acceptance of this system is positive, relatively no study has evaluated its effectiveness in meeting the expected benefits. Elsewhere, similar systems showed initial acceptance at the beginning, followed by failures after some years of use. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the effectiveness of GePG system to find out how effectively public money is spent.Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the success of GePG system using users’ satisfaction as a success measure.Method: The study adapted the updated Delone and Mclean Information Systems success model whereby perceived usefulness and trust in system were added as new factors. The sequential explanatory design research design integrating quantitative and qualitative data within a single investigation was adopted. A total of 442 users from 271 institutions in 11 regions in Tanzania participated in the study.Results: Trust in system, information quality, and perceived usefulness had a significant positive impact on users’ satisfaction with GePG system, whilst service quality had a significant negative impact. In contrast, system quality did not have an effect.Conclusion: The study shows that trust in system and perceived usefulness are important factors in the updated Delone and Mclean IS success model in evaluating user satisfaction with revenue collection systems. The findings from the open-ended questions and implications of the findings are discussed.

Improving the tax e-filing system in Indonesia: An exploration of individual taxpayers’ opinions

The growing number of e-filing users in Indonesia requires a more robust e-filing system, so continuous improvement is essential. This study investigates areas of improvement to the e-filing system by exploring taxpayers’ opinions. An open-ended survey question was used to collect opinions from individual taxpayers who have used the system to file their tax returns. There were 318 respondents who provided answers to the question. This study used qualitative content analysis on participants’ responses about how the e-filing system can be improved. We utilized NVivo 12 qualitative data analysis software to perform coding of participants’ responses. This study employed the three quality dimensions (i.e., system quality, information quality, and service quality) in the updated DeLone and McLean Information Systems (IS) Success Model as a lens to analyze taxpayers’ opinions. The results show that taxpayers are especially concerned about improvements in these areas: access to the system and ease of use (system quality), e-filing guidelines and data security (information quality), and dissemination program (service quality). This study provides recommendations for the Directorate General of Taxes to improve the e-filing system to support taxpayers’ needs optimally.

Analysis of the Success of the Personnel Management Information System at the Purwakarta District Attorney with the Delone and Mclean Method

Management information system is an information provider system that is used to support the operating system in the process of returning certain decisions within an institution/organization. The application of technology in government agencies is needed to create an accountable, transparent and trustworthy government. The personnel management information system is a useful application for managing administrative data, based on the Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Number: KEP-155/J.A/12/1997 concerning the operational organization of the management information system of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office. This study aims to determine the success rate of the personnel management system at the Purwakarta District Attorney's Office using the Delone and McLean information system success model. The variables used in this research are system quality, information quality, service quality and user satisfaction. This research is a type of descriptive analysis research that is used to interpret the data that has been processed quantitatively. Based on the results of the study, there is a successful implementation of the Personnel Management Information System (SIMPEG) using the Delone and Mclean method, the quality of information has a positive and significant impact on user satisfaction of the Personnel Management System (SIMPEG), with a significance value of 0.007 &lt;0.05 and a t value of 2,838 &gt; t table 2,021.

Investigating the Influence of Quality Factors on User Satisfaction with Summative Computer-based Assessment

Computer-based assessment or e-assessment system is an e-learning system where information communication technology is utilized for examination activity, grading, and recording of responses of the examinees. It includes the entire assessment process from the examinees, teachers, institutions, examination agencies, and the public. E-assessment systems have been used extensively in educational and non-educational settings worldwide because of their significant impact on assessment to both the institutions and students. Electronic assessment systems have many significant advantages over conventional paper-pencil-based approaches, like reducing production cost, automatic marking, and fair grading. Other benefits include the ability to conduct adaptive testing, an increase in the frequency of assessment, a large number of people could be examined, low staff requirements during the assessment, and the ability to improve the quality of the evaluation. Text, images, audio, video, and interactive virtual environments in an e-assessment system are all feasible. Nevertheless, given all these advantages, some examinees expressed negative views about electronic assessment in our study due to fear or lack of familiarity with assessment technology and lack of information on e-assessment methods. Despite the increased adoption of e-assessment in higher education and organizations, the examinees' attitudes and opinions need to be studied to implement the system successfully. In an e-assessment environment, several factors account for the evaluation of the system quality. These factors can be categorized into three dimensions: technical, educational, and economical. However, based on literature reviewed, limited studies attempted to map these quality factors to determine user satisfaction with an e-assessment system. This scarcity of e-assessment satisfaction studies is the gap the study intends to fill. Furthermore, this study's findings would help provide practical and theoretical implications for educational institutions and organizations. This study is among the first application of the Delone and McLean information system success model to predict user satisfaction with computer-based assessment in a developing, African country.

The Effectiveness of I-AM Human Resources Information System Application at PT Pertamina (Persero)

This study discusses the effectiveness of implementation of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) I-AM application in improving the quality of employee service at PT Pertamina (Persero). Although this I-AM application helps employees, most of them are reluctant to use it. Therefore, this research intends to evaluate the effectiveness of the I-AM HRIS implementation by using the Delone model, McLean Information System Success model, and Quality Function Deployment analysis. Fifty employees are selected by performing convenience sampling techniques . The result shows that there are four indicators in the dimension of system quality which did not fulfil the employees’ desire. Out of four indicators which failed to fulfill the employees’ desire, The speed of administration process as well as the ease of the human resource administration process are among the highest technical importance rating and relative weight which literally means high-interest rate and should be redesigned to improve employee service through I-AM HRIS.
