Nature or mother Earth is of fundamental importance in the world view of the Mayan peoples from Chiapas. From this conception derivate proposals that consolidate an alternative way of living, the good Life or “Lekil Kuxlejal”. They try to go deeper in the study and systematizing of the relationship between man and nature. They are also useful to generate conceptual and methodological alternatives in the epistemologic dispute.In Chiapas there are multiple studies that have examined the relationship of the native peoples with the national system of protected areas that is managed by the federal government (Betancourt, 2009; Arellano, 2010; Avila, 2011). But there are only a few studies that look deeper into the meaning of nature for the native peoples as a mechanism of social reproduction that can create societal alternatives in which the Good Life contributes to the preservation of the environment.So we will go deeper in the study of this concept, its importance and relevance in contrast to the public policies by the state promoted in the natural protected areas.
