Residual Soil Fertility and Yield of Okra as Affected by Bio-inoculants and Bio-organic Nutrient Sources

Over the course of two kharif seasons in 2020 and 2021, a study was conducted to explore the impact of bi-inoculants (Pseudomonas fluorescens and Pseudomonas lactis) and bio-organic nutrient sources (farmyard manure, vermicompost, Beejamrit and Jeevamrit) over the fruit yield and residual soil fertility of okra in the Entisols of Himachal Pradesh. The study was structured around seventeen treatments with different combinations of bio-inoculants, bio-formulations and nutrient sources. The investigation revealed that minimum soil pH (6.96), maximum soil organic carbon (0.76 %), available nitrogen (259.36 kg/ha) and available phosphorus (26.98 kg/ha) were obtained with treatment T16 [FYM (50 q/ha) + Vermicompost (25 q/ha) + Jeevamrit + Pseudomonas fluorescens]. The maximum soil electrical conductivity (0.208 dSm-1) and available potassium (174.65 kg/ha) was obtained in treatment T17 [Recommended Dose of Fertilizer (78N:50P:54K kg/ha)]. The highest gross income (₹2,58,760 /ha), net income (₹1,60,620 /ha) were observed in treatment T16 [FYM (50 q/ha) + Vermicompost (25q/ha) + Jeevamrit + Pseudomonas fluorescens] and the highest benefit: cost ratio (1.69) was observed in treatment T10 [Jeevamrit + Pseudomonas fluorescens]. Therefore, it is evident that using bio-organic nutrients such as farmyard manure, vermicompost, and Jeevamrit, in conjunction with the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens, is advantageous for enhancing the residual fertility of the soil and achieving sustainable cultivation of okra, while also allowing for a complete savings of 100% on fertilizers.

Catalytic effect of aluminum on the structural, optical, and electrical properties of LaSrCrO3-δ anode

Solid oxide fuel cell is promising conversion technology due to fuel flexibility, higher efficiency, and environment friendly compared to traditional technology. To enhance the efficiency of the device, selection of anode material is important because it affects the electrochemical performance and operating temperature of the cell. In this work, La0.5Sr0.5AlxCr1-xO3-δ (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) anode has been developed using sol-gel method. XRD analysis exhibited a two-phase structure of the prepared anode, one orthorhombic and second rhombohedral phase with crystalline size in the range 15–18 nm. The surface morphology of the prepared anode material shows nano-spheres, dumbbells, and platelets. The elemental analysis confirms the presence of Sr, Cr, La, Al, and O in the prepared material. The metal-oxide formation has been confirmed with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The absorption spectra revealed red shift in bandgap 3.65–2.85 eV by increasing the Al concentration. The maximum dc electrical conductivity of the composition anode La0.5Sr0.5Al0.4Cr0.6O3-δ is found to be 8.01 Scm−1 at 600 °C. The achieved power density of the anode La0.5Sr0.5Al0.4Cr0.6O3-δ is 69 mWcm−2 using hydrogen fuel at 600 °C.

Exploring indigenous fungal isolates for efficient dye degradation: A comprehensive study on sustainable bioremediation in the total environment

Synthetic dyes used in textile industries are hazardous and toxic to the environment, as some of the dyes used in these industries are non-biodegradable. Sustainable technologies using microbes are an eco-friendly and economical approach. Fungal decolorization processes are gaining much importance as biomass absorbs enzymes used in biodegradation. In the current study, six samples of dye wastewater were collected from different industries in the Faisalabad industrial area in Pakistan. The physiological characteristics of these samples were analyzed, and various parameters, including pH, temperature, BOD, COD, and electric conductivity, were investigated. Among six different (sample A-F) wastewater samples, the maximum reduction in BOD was observed in sample E, i.e.,1.3.In contrast, the maximum reduction in COD of sample C, i.e., 30, was observed. These samples' hydrogen ion concentration (pH) was mainly in an alkaline ratio, and a maximum electric conductivity of 8810 µS/cm of sample A was observed. In contrast, a minimum sample E (540 mg/L) was observed. Three indigenous fungal strains were screened and purified from dye wastewater for detoxification of dyes and were identified morphologically and on a molecular basis as Aspergillus iranicus, Penicillium crustosum, and Aspergillus terreus. A comparative analysis of two methods, the tube overlay method and the liquid medium method, were conducted to biodetoxification synthetic dyes, including malachite green, methylene blue, and nigrosine. Spectrophotometric analysis showed that indigenous fungal strains, i.e., Penicillium crustosum decolorizing methylene blue at about 93%, followed by Aspergillus iranicus decolorizing malachite green at about 80% and Aspergillus terreus decolorizing about 90% of malachite green have good potential for degradation of dyes. These strains can be a potential source for treating textile dye effluent.

Effect of Sonication Batch on Electrical Properties of Graphitic-Based PVDF-HFP Strain Sensors for Use in Health Monitoring.

In this study, flexible nanocomposites made from PVDF-HFP reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) are manufactured using a sonication and solvent casting method for monitoring purposes. More specifically, the effect of the volume batch under the sonication process is explored. For CNT-based composites, the electrical conductivity decreases as the batch volume increases due to less effective dispersion of the CNTs during the 30-min sonication. The maximum electrical conductivity achieved in this type of sensor is 1.44 ± 0.17 S/m. For the GNP-based nanocomposites, the lower the batch volume is, the more breakage of nanoplatelets is induced by sonication, and the electrical response decreases. This is also validated by AC analysis, where the characteristic frequencies are extracted. Here, the maximum electrical conductivity measured is 8.66 ± 1.76 S/m. The electromechanical results also show dependency on the batch volume. In the CNT-based nanocomposites, the higher gauge factor achieved corresponds to the batch size, where the sonication may be more effective because it leads to a dispersed pathway formed by aggregates connected by tunneling mechanisms. In contrast, in the CNT-based nanocomposites, the GF depends on the lateral size of the GNPs. The biggest GF of all sensors is achieved with the PVDF-HFP/GNP sensors, having a value of 69.36 × 104 at 35% of strain, while the highest GF achieved with a PVDF-HFP/CNT sensor is 79.70 × 103 at 70%. In addition, cycling tests show robust electromechanical response with cycling for two different strain percentages for each type of nanocomposite. The sensor with the highest sensitivity is selected for monitoring two joint movements as proof of the applicability of the sensors manufactured.

Electrochemical performance of Pr0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Co0.2O3−δ as potential cathode material for IT-SOFC

Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are renowned for being effective energy sources that have potential to influence how energy is developed in future. SOFCs operate at low temperatures provides different benefits for widespread commercialization. In the present study a perovskite material Pr0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Co0.2O3−δ (PSFCo) was investigated as cathode for SOFC in intermediate temperature range. Glycine nitrate process was used for the preparation of the samples. PSFCo exhibited cubic structure having small particle size (100–200 nm). The electrical conductivity of the PSFCo was measured as function of temperature up to 850 ℃. The sample displayed maximum electrical conductivity of 370 Scm−1 at around 550–600 ℃. The polarization behavior of PSFCo was calculated by means of AC impedance with Sm0.8Ce0.2O2 (SDC) as electrolyte. The value of area specific resistance (ASR) was calculated as 0.146 Ωcm2 at 800 ℃ and 0.248 Ωcm2 at 700 ℃.

Organosilicon elastomers of MWCNTs and nano-sized metals for heating purposes

Silicone elastomers are continuously gaining importance in a variety of industrial applications, including strain gauges, electrical heaters, electromagnetic interference, and electrostatic discharge protection coatings. But these materials have certain drawbacks such as high cost, poor resistance to solvents, low tear strength, limited high-temperature resistance, difficulty in bonding and limited abrasion resistance. Therefore, unique nanocomposites of organosilicon elastomers with metals have been prepared using MWCNTs. The prepared nanocomposites demonstrated nano-diameter structures (15–60 nm) with micron-sized fibrous structures (12–60 μm). Aluminum elongated inclusions (60 µm in size) and bronze spherical inclusions (12–30 µm) were observed in the nanocomposites. The composites containing MWCNTs, Co-Mo/Al2O3-MgO catalyst and bronze (3 wt. %) had the maximum thermal and electrical conductivity. The prepared nanocomposites were used to make the heaters. The heating of the heaters was carried out by applying a voltage of 12–24 V. The Highest temperature achieved was more than 50 °C in all the heaters. By supplying 12–24 V electricity to the heaters in the ventilation and heat recirculation system, the interior of a minibus or living space can be heated. The developed electric heater has another important economic application in temperature-controlled materials.

The effect of graphene oxide on thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties of carbon/epoxy composites: Towards multifunctional composite material

AbstractThe focus of this research work is to investigate the influence of graphene oxide (GO) on the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of carbon fiber‐reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. The solvent mixing method with the new addition of a mixing stage is introduced for uniform distribution of graphene oxide in polymer. Different weight percentages of graphene oxide (1%, 1.5%, and 2%) were incorporated into the epoxy matrix, and the resulting composites were subjected to electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) testing. The findings revealed a positive influence on material properties with the percentage of GO. Especially, the electrical conductivity and ILSS values reached up to 7.05 S/m and 11.03 MPa, respectively, when 1.5% GO by weight of the resin was added. The improvement in ILSS reported by 40% compared to the neat CFRP, and this increment was attributed to enhanced bonding between the epoxy matrix and carbon fabric. Maximum thermal conductivity of 1.04 W/m°K obtained at 1% GO filler, which is 15% higher than neat epoxy composite. Overall, these results illustrate the potential of GO as a promising filler to improve the electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties of CFRP composites. Proper optimization of graphene content in a polymer is needed to achieve the best multifunctional composite materials.Highlights The new solvent mixing method is introduced for uniform distribution of graphene oxide in polymer. Positive improvement is observed in mechanical, thermal, and electrical at a specific percentage of graphene in the composite. A novel smart disinfection system using 3D-printed and electrically conductive composite hydrogel

AbstractSmart materials are ushering in the era of smart and adaptable products. Hydrogels are a distinct class of smart materials that can be 3D-printed to produce smart and active structures that can be used as sensors and actuators. The development and characterization of a 3D-printable and electrically conductive composite hydrogel, as well as its application in the development of a smart disinfection system, are discussed in this article. The developed composite hydrogel has a maximum electrical conductivity of 145 S.m−1, is stable up to 200 °C, and has a 3D printable rheology. Virtuous of its electrical conductivity, the composite hydrogel was used to create a smart disinfection system. Various disinfection systems have been adopted for the disinfection of contaminated surfaces; however, most of these systems require human evacuation from the surroundings due to the hazardous nature of the virucide. The proposed system is designed to disinfect contaminated surfaces on common-use equipment and is capable of real-time activation through user interaction. It employs a thermal disinfection process at 60 °C for 5 min and becomes ready for the next user once its temperature drops below 55 °C. This system consumes 1.64 Wh of energy per disinfection cycle and is suitable for scenarios with fewer than 60 user interactions in an 8-h work shift.

Statistical modelling and process optimization of EDM electrode fabricated using pressureless microwave sintering and rapid tooling route

The fabrication of customized products necessitates specialized setups, such as tools and dies, capable of accommodating complex shapes. In the present work, rapid tooling, an indirect 3D printing process along with pressureless microwave sintering was employed to fabricate complex shaped electric discharge machine (EDM) electrode. Copper spherical particles were used as the material for sample fabrication, and central composite design technique was utilized to conduct experiments. The investigation focused on exploring the impact of microwave sintering machine parameters – sintering temperature, heating rate and holding time – on crucial electrode properties, including density, volumetric shrinkage and electrical conductivity. The dominance of the sintering temperature on responses was revealed over the heating rate and holding time. Additionally, the effect of interaction between heating rate and holding time on electrical conductivity and density showed less effect of large holding time at slower heating rate. To investigate the particle bonding behaviour, scanning electron micrographs of the fabricated samples were also studied. The adopted methodology effectively sintered the particles without the need for applying pressure. Using genetic algorithm (GA), a multi-objective optimization was conducted to achieve an optimized set of microwave sintering machine parameters, aiming for maximum density, electrical conductivity and minimum volumetric shrinkage. A density of 7.32 g/cc, volumetric shrinkage of 8.36% and electrical conductivity of 73.88% IACS was obtained from samples sintered at optimized sintering parameters. The dimensions of the fabricated electrodes and machined cavity were then compared with the computer-aided design model. The results revealed an efficient process for fabricating complex shaped EDM electrodes.

Groundwater Quality Monitoring in Response to Marine Intrusion: A Case Study in Northern Morocco

Water stress, resulting from a demand for water exceeding the available quantity, is a major global challenge. Groundwater usage is a commonly adopted strategy to address this situation, but it often leads to marine intrusion, threatening the quality of water in coastal aquifers. This phenomenon typically stems from overexploitation of aquifers, declining water table levels, and rising sea levels due to climate change. Our study aims to monitor the quality of groundwater intended for human consumption and provide a detailed assessment of its current state. We identified several physicochemical parameters, such as temperature, pH, and bicarbonates, with maximum electrical conductivity values reaching 2810 µs/cm, a total hardness of 21 meq/L, sulfate levels of 689 mg/L, and chloride levels of 628 mg/L, from six boreholes and one well located along the coastal area of the Al Hoceima region. These samples were also subjected to Principal component analysis (PCA) of the chemical parameters, revealing two factors that represent approximately 62.15% of the total variance in the groundwater quality dataset. Simulation results indicate signs of seawater intrusion in several areas, particularly near the coast, emphasizing the urgency of protecting groundwater resources and developing sustainable management strategies to ensure a safe and reliable supply of drinking water in the region.

Predicting of electrical conductivity for Polymer-MXene nanocomposites

The prediction of electrical conductivity in MXene nanosheet –polymer composites is a complex task that lacks a straightforward model. In this study, a model is proposed to predict the conductivity for the samples filled with MXene. Our proposed method takes into account various factors that influence the overall conductivity of the samples. The factors include the dimensions of MXene, volume fraction of MXene, percolation onset, tunnel distance, network fraction, and interphase thickness. The validity of the expressed method is examined using experimental data for several samples. Furthermore, an analysis of the relationship between the predicted conductivity and the parameters is conducted to confirm the reliability of the proposed methodology. The calculated outcomes from the proposed model exhibit a high level of accordance with the experimented conductivity of the samples. The maximum electrical conductivity of 16.1 S/m is achieved by the minimum tunneling distance of 1 nm, but the conductivity becomes very weak when tunneling distance in more than 11 nm.

Polypyrrole fabricated Laponite RD conductive nanocomposites: influence of grafting efficiency on structural and conductive properties.

In the present work novel conductive organic-inorganic nanocomposites were produced by grafting of pyrrole monomer onto silanized Laponite RD utilizing emulsion graft polymerization. Influence of some important factors like concentration of monomer, initiator and surfactant were investigated on grafting efficiency. Grafting of polypyrrole chains onto modified Laponite RD was verified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Scanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed the spherical particles of nanocomposite with average diameter of 271.5 nm. XRD pattern showed that molecular framework of pure polypyrrole almost remains same in nanocomposite. Surface area and pore volume of Laponite RD, measured by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, was also altered indicating effective grafting of polypyrrole chains onto modified substrate. Maximum grafting efficiency (%), determined gravimetrically, was 87.3% at monomer, initiator, and surfactant concentrations of 1.50, 1.00, and 0.50% respectively. Prepared nanocomposites with grafting efficiency of 87.3% have displayed maximum electrical conductivity of 0.23 × 10-2 Scm-1. These nanocomposites can be used for manifold applications like biomedical and energy storage devices.

Effect of the reinforcement phase on the electrical and mechanical properties of Cu–SWCNTs nanocomposites

In this research a pre-treatment of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) was performed to obtain Cu–SWCNTs composites by powder metallurgy technique. The SWCNTs were subjected to a chemical functionalization in acidic medium followed by a copper coating to improve their incorporation into the metal matrix. The results revealed a considerable inclusion of carboxyl, carbonyl and hydroxyl groups in the nanotubes, maintaining their structural integrity which was demonstrated by characterization using X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy techniques. The electroless process used allowed a complete reduction of copper sulfate to a metallic copper obtaining a suitable and homogeneous carbon nanotubes incorporation into the copper matrix. Microhardness measurements of the Cu–0.01 % SWCNT composite presented an improvement of 13 % compared with pure copper. Furthermore, this composite showed the best tribological properties obtaining a wear rate of 2.1 × 10−4 mm3/Nm, 18 % better than Cu, which was associated with the improved dispersion of the SWCNTs bundles into the matrix, and with a lower amount of surface defects. The maximum electrical conductivity obtained was 96 % IACS in the samples with the least amount of reinforcement phase which confirms their homogeneity into the copper matrix.

Effect of the Reinforcement Phase on the Electrical and Mechanical Properties of Cu-SWCNTs Nanocomposites for Potential Application on Conductors Wires

In this research a pre-treatment of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) was performed to obtain Cu-SWCNTs composites by combination of electroless deposition and powder metallurgy technique. Previously, the SWCNTs were subjected to a chemical functionalization in acid medium and coated with metallic copper to improve their incorporation into the metal matrix. The results revealed a suitable inclusion of carboxyl, carbonyl and hydroxyl groups in the nanotubes, maintaining their structural integrity. On the other hand, electroless process allowed a complete reduction of copper sulfate to a metallic copper and then a suitable carbon nanotubes incorporation into the matrix. Microhardness measurements presented an improvement of 13% compared with pure copper and, a good wear resistance (2.1x10-4 mm3/Nm) in the sample that reached the best hardness performance was observed. An increase of the wear rate with the concentration of nanotubes can also be seen, which could be related to the high porosity in this samples. Finally, the maximum electrical conductivity reached was 96% IACS in the samples with the least amount of SWCNTs which confirms their excellent dispersion into the copper matrix. Furthermore, the decrease of conductivity with high content of nanotubes (>0.1 weight%) could also be attributed to increase of nanocarbon agglomeration and porosity which acting as insulation barriers. Impact of different silvipastoral systems on understorey vegetation and soil properties

The present investigation was carried out in seven different silvipastoral systems . T -TvizCedrus deodara, - 12Robinia pseudoacacia, - Cupressus torulosa, - Prunus armeniaca, - Ailanthus altissimaTTT, T - mixed 3456plantations and T - grassland (control) of Sindh range, Ganderbal Forest Division, Kashmir Province. It aimed 7to assess floristic composition of different plantations and their impact on understorey vegetation and soil nutrients. The results revealed that 12 shrub and 43 herb species were found in all these systems. Cyanodon dactylon Ailanthus altissima Cupressus torulosa was the dominating species under grassland (control), and plantations. was dominating under plantations.was Oxalis acetosella Cedrus deodara Lolium perenne dominating species under mixed stand, and plantations. Maximum Robinia pseudoacacia Prunus armeniaca available nitrogen was recorded in T - plantation (363.76 kg ha ), whereas the highest 2Robinia pseudoacacia-1values for phosphorus and potassium (23.44 kg ha and 312 kg ha respectively) were recorded in T --1-15Ailanthus altissima plantation. Maximum soil organic carbon and electrical conductivity (2.14% and 0.51 dSm , -1respectively) was recorded in T -plantation. pH in different plantation types followed the 5 Ailanthus altissima trend of T >T T T T >T T plantations.

Development of Inkjet Printable Formulations Based on Polyorganosilazane and Divinylbenzene.

Within this work, ink formulations based on polyorganosilazane (OPSZ) and divinylbenzene (DVB) were developed to be processed by inkjet printing. The formulations were studied regarding their rheological, structural, and thermal properties. The rheological results show that the new formulations meet the requirements of the inkjet printer by showing both low viscosity (below 20 mPa∙s at printing temperature) and Newtonian flow behavior even at high shear rates. Additionally, the inks have surface tensions in the range of 21 to 26 mN/m2. First, printing experiments of single layers were successfully conducted and show that the developed formulations can be processed by inkjet printing. The inks were crosslinked by UV light and then pyrolyzed at 1100 °C resulting in a ceramic yield between 75 and 42%, depending on the ink formulation. The crosslinking behavior was studied via FTIR spectroscopy, and the results reveal that crosslinking occurs mainly via free-radical polymerization of the vinyl group. Furthermore, the results indicate that silicon carbonitride (SiCN) was formed after the pyrolysis. The results of the electrical properties of the amorphous ceramics differ in dependence on the amount of DVB in the formulation. A maximum electrical conductivity of 1.2 S/cm-1 was observed for a UV-cured sample with a high amount of DVB pyrolyzed at 1100 °C. The generation in electrical conductivity is given by the formation of free carbon derived most likely by DVB.

Advancements in Conductive Cotton Thread-Based Graphene: A New Generation of Flexible, Lightweight, and Cost-Effective Electronic Applications

Conductive threads have emerged as a highly promising platform for the advancement of smart textiles, enabling the integration of conductivity into fabric materials. In this study, we present a novel approach to fabricate highly flexible graphene-based smart threads, which exhibit exceptional electrical properties. Four distinct types of smart threads were meticulously prepared by drop-casting graphene dispersions onto cotton threads, utilizing various solvents. The influence of annealing temperature and the quantity of dispersed graphene on the electrical conductivity of the threads was systematically investigated. Our findings reveal that the electrical conductivity of the threads is significantly influenced by the type of solvent and the annealing temperature, while exhibiting an increasing trend with higher amounts of dispersed graphene. Remarkably, we achieved a maximum electrical conductivity of 2505.68 S cm−1 for a thread prepared with 6 mL of graphene dispersed in ethanol, annealed at a temperature of 78 °C. Furthermore, the fabricated smart threads were successfully employed as replacements for electric cables in a mobile charger and a computer mouse, demonstrating their high efficiency. This work represents a significant advancement in the development of a new generation of smart textiles, offering a simple, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly fabrication method for the production of smart threads.

Theoretical benchmark of structure, optical, and transport mechanism of Sm-doped double perovskite cobaltite

Double perovskite cobaltites have attracted more fascination because of their tunable functionality in optoelectronic and electronic devices. In this study, we used the Cambridge Serial Total Energy Package code under equilibrium circumstances, to examine the structural, and optical properties of Bi2Ca2-xSmxCoO6 (x = 0.00, 0.05, and 0.10). In this work, the studied samples have been prepared by co-precipitation method. X-Ray Diffraction reveals a monoclinic structure. Jonscher’s power law was employed to investigate the conduction mechanism in the synthesized samples. Nyquist plots were studied for the investigation of electrical transport properties. The maximum electrical conductivity for the Sm-doped sample was 98.3 S-cm−1.

Precipitation strengthening of Cu–Ni–Si-based alloys: Experimental and computational insights

The effects of interfacial energy on precipitation behavior and physical properties of Cu–Ni–Si–(Co) alloys were investigated. The Cu–1.3Ni–0.3Si and Cu–1.3Ni–0.6Si–1.0Co alloys (in weight %) were prepared by combined cold-rolling and aging processes. The addition of Co promoted the formation of (Ni,Co)2Si by replacing Ni with Co in Ni2Si. Ab initio calculations demonstrated that the small addition of Co considerably reduced the interfacial energy between the Cu matrix and (Ni,Co)2Si, which effectively decreased the activation energy for precipitation. As a result, the precipitation of fine rod-shaped (Ni,Co)2Si was accelerated during the aging process and the number density of the precipitates increased up to 9.0 × 1010 cm−2. The nano-scale (Ni,Co)2Si precipitates with an average size of 13.5 nm strengthened the alloy properly through the Orowan mechanism without much loss of electrical conductivity. The maximum hardness and electrical conductivity were 220 Hv and 51 % International Annealed Copper Standard, respectively, for the Cu–1.3Ni–0.6Si–1.0Co alloy aged for 4 h at 420 °C.

Quantification of Heavy Metals and Chemical Stressors in Ground Water of Coal Mining Areas and Associated Human Health Risk

Acid mine drainage is one of the most obvious challenges in coal mining areas that is responsible for deteriorating soil and ground water quality of nearby communities thus posing serious human health risk. Objective: To quantify of heavy metals and chemical stressors in ground water and associated human health risk. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a combination of random sampling and Probability-Proportional-to-Size Sampling was used. Eight different sites were selected for water sample collection, and heavy metals were quantified. The analysis was carried out. Physicochemical properties of water were assessed using a portable photometer. Hematological parameters and antioxidants in the blood of study subjects were also measured. Results: Among the water samples, site S1 had the highest iron concentration at 0.354 ppm, exceeding the US limit of 0.3 ppm, with nickel being the next most abundant metal. Site S8 recorded the highest temperature at 36.4°C, while site S5 had the highest pH in the drinking water. The maximum electrical conductivity was found at S4 with 1387 s/m, and the total dissolved solvent parameter peaked at 1598 ppm in S8. Subjects exposed to acid mine drainage through water consumption displayed significant changes in antioxidant and blood parameters compared to the control group. In the exposed group, catalase (63.47), superoxide dismutase (33.26), and glutathione peroxidase (532.97) levels decreased, while malondialdehyde levels increased to 1.39. Conclusions: The physical and chemical properties of all water resources of mining areas were negatively altered due to heavy metals contamination thus poses a serious threat of oxidative stress in exposed subjects.
