All patients with suspected oral malignancy should have early consultation with a maxillofacial prosthodontist. Such consultation is an asset to pre- and postoperative treatment planning. Preoperative records can be used to construct the prostheses needed to facilitate early healing and patient rehabilitation. The construction of a permanent prosthesis is easier following proper postoperative treatment. The rehabilitation of maxillofacial patients requires a team effort, with each specialty deserving equal importance. Although prosthetic correction is the last phase of treatment, periodic review and examination by all the disciplines concerned are imperative.
