Merangkul Diversitas Budaya melalui Matematika: Pendekatan Ethnomatematika dalam Pembelajaran Matematika di Sekolah

This study is important to embrace cultural diversity in mathematics learning with the aim of implementing an ethnomathematics approach in mathematics learning to help embrace students' cultural diversity, improve mathematical understanding, and increase student motivation in learning mathematics. The writing method uses literature review. The literature review procedure starts by collecting data in the form of references related to the implementation of culture in mathematics learning with an emphasis on ethnomathematics in school mathematics learning, followed by analyzing these references and presenting the implications of the results of the literature review in learning activities. Analysis of the results contains a complete description of how to analyze the concept under study using an analytical approach, namely through the process of analyzing data or information by providing arguments through logical thinking and then a conclusion is drawn. The implementation of Ethnomathematics in education is an important step towards a more inclusive, relevant and culturally oriented education. It helps to embrace the cultural diversity of students, improve mathematical understanding, and increase student motivation.

Integrating Student Reasoning and Mathematics in Instruction: A New Research Perspective

Traditional mathematics education prioritizes content transmission, often overlooking the intricate ways students’ reasoning and understanding are constructed. This research perspective proposes Integrating Student Reasoning and Mathematics in Instruction (ISRMI) as a novel approach that centers student thinking, integrating it seamlessly with formal mathematical concepts and procedures. ISRMI emphasizes tasks promoting explanation and justification, enabling educators to uncover and build upon existing student reasoning patterns. By challenging teacher-centered knowledge transfer, ISRMI empowers students to apply reasoning skills to solve problems, ultimately fostering deeper conceptual understanding and motivation in learning mathematics. While potential challenges lie in teacher training, curriculum design, and assessment of student reasoning, the potential benefits of improved problem-solving, engagement, and critical thinking skills necessitate further exploration and development of effective ISRMI implementation strategies. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research questions of this study are pursued using a systematic research analysis. We stress the importance of advancing research on integrating student reasoning and mathematics in instruction. We discuss many methods for incorporating student reasoning and mathematics into classroom instruction. We conducted this research by systematically searching and screening for relevant research articles through secondary sources and analyzing them to answer our scientific question. This research is a descriptive study. Secondary data was collected from various sources, such as magazines, journals, other publications, etc. This data was then analyzed and reviewed for inferences and conclusions. Findings/Result: Integrating student reasoning and mathematics in instruction can be the foundation for building a common locus between mathematics and reasoning abilities in educational practice.

PENGARUH MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN WORDWALL TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR MATEMATIKA PERKALIAN BILANGAN BULAT

This research aims to determine the effect of using word wall based educational games in mathematics learning on student learning motivation in grade VI at SDN Bojonggenteng Elementary School. This research is quantitative research using survey methods. The subjects of this research were 87 Class VI students, where the sample was 37 Class VI students. The data collection technique in this research is by using a questionnaire. Information obtained from respondents using this questionnaire was used to determine the effect of using wordwall-based educational games on learning motivation. This research uses partial testing (t test) to determine the hypothesis. The hypothesis results obtained based on the partial test (t test) are 3.552 (tcount) > 2.045 (ttable) with a significance of 0.000 < 0.05. These results show that H₁ is accepted and H₀ is rejected, which means that there is a positive and significant influence between wordwall-based learning media on learning motivation in mathematics learning for class V1 students at SDN Bojonggenteng.

Upaya Peningkatan Motivasi Belajar melalui Penerapan Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning Peserta Didik Kelas IX SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan

This research aims to describe how efforts are made to increase learning motivation through the application of problem based learning for Class IX students at SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles. The subjects in this classroom action research (PTK) were students of Class IX of SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan with the number of students being 20 people. The results of the research showed that in cycle I, the percentage of students' learning motivation questionnaire answers showed that only 13% of students had high learning motivation, while 25% of students had sufficient learning motivation, while there were 45% of students who lacked learning motivation. and 15% of students who have no motivation to learn. This means that, after implementing the problem based learning model, the learning motivation of class IX students at SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan in cycle I experienced an increase in percentage of only 5%. Therefore, researchers continued research in cycle II. The percentage of students' learning motivation questionnaire answers showed that 70% of students had high learning motivation, while 25% of students had sufficient learning motivation, while there were 4% of students who lacked learning motivation and only 1% of students had have no motivation to learn. So it can be concluded that in the cycle there was a significant increase in learning motivation in class IX of SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan showing that 95% of students were motivated to learn. This shows that the application of the problem based learning model with the improvements made after implementing cycle I has increased. In this case, the problem based learning model can increase students' learning motivation in learning mathematics on the subject of congruence of plane shapes and volume of cylinders in class IX SMP Negeri 2 Pemulutan Selatan.

This paper presents theoretical and pedagogical considerations as well as the basic results of research on the evaluation and assessment of student achievements in mathematics. The research was carried out in class and subject classes. The paper is based on the hypothesis that descriptive assessment is more successful and increases students' motivation for mathematics as a science. The aim of the paper is to investigate, analyze and interpret the attitudes of students and teachers about descriptive and numerical assessment. The problem of this paper is which type of evaluation has a greater influence on students' motivation towards mathematics. Analytical, theoretical and deductive methods were used in the work. Research techniques for proving the views of this work are a survey. As for the instruments, we made distinctions about the attitudes of students and teachers. The paper ends with a concluding discussion of the problem.

Mathematical Identity in Learning Mathematics: Bibliometric Review

Students' mathematical identities must be properly identified to obtain information on the causes of difficulties and decreased student motivation in learning mathematics so that this becomes a teacher's reference in preparing learning scenarios that are able to form strong and enduring mathematical characters in students. This bibliometric study aims to assess the global research trends in the field of mathematical identity through analyzing publication output, co-authorship among authors and their country affiliations, and the co-occurrence of author keywords. Using the Scopus database, a total of 53 journal articles published between 2007 and 2023 were collected. The findings indicate a consistent growth in the number of publications since 2018, with an increment of 5 articles every two years. Consequently, the cumulative total of articles has steadily increased. The United States stands out as the leading contributor, accounting for approximately 60% of the global publications, surpassing 10 other countries/territories. Moreover, among the most productive universities in the top 5 countries, four of them are ranked in the top 1000 universities in the world. In conclusion, recent advancements in research on mathematical identity encompass various aspects such as mathematics achievement, race, equity, learners' mathematical identity, and black students.

Digital Media Based On Quantum Learning to Increase Learning Motivation and Student Learning Activities In Mathematics

Learning with the quantum learning model is one of the learning methods in its implementatied Learning with the quantum learning model is one of the learning methods in its implementation enjoy being more active in discussing and working together in class. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the quantum learning model on increasing student motivation and learning activities. This research is experimental quantitative research consisting of two classes, namely the control class and the experimental class. Data collection instruments used questionnaires.Data analysis used in this study is a descriptive test, normality test, and paired sample test. The results of the normality test (Shapiro-Wilk) for learning motivation of the control class and experimental class amounted to 0.147 greater than 0.05 and for learning activities of the control class and experimental class amounted to 0.362 greater than 0.05. T-test for learning motivation showed that the improvement of the experimental class was higher than the control class (t = -0.785 p = 0.220 > 0.05) and the SE value of Cohen's d (0.317). The T-test for learning activities showed that the increase in learning motivation of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class (t = -2.506 p = 0.009 < 0.05) and the SE Cohen's d value (0.194).That's whybased on the results show that the quantum learning model can increase student learning motivation.

Learning Motivation Viewed from Goal Orientation, Self-Confidence Control, Test Anxiety and Student Assignment Value

Students’ confidence will be more curious, willing to try new things, and take chances. Self-confidence is a state of mind where a person feels confident in his ability to carry out various tasks and dares to voice his opinion in front of others. The importance of students' work as a learning outcome depends on their level of self-confidence. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant influence between learning motivation and learning outcomes in mathematics. This study uses a quantitative approach using regression analysis. The population in this study were all grade 9 students at SMPN 11 Pasuruan City, while the sample in this research was 118 grade 9 students. The sampling technique used was random sampling. Learning motivation data was collected through a learning motivation questionnaire while learning outcomes data was taken from UAS score data at the school. The data was then analyzed using the t-test. The results showed a significant influence between learning motivation and students' mathematics learning outcomes. The study results prove that goal orientation, control beliefs, and bag anxiety strongly influence the value of the task; therefore, to foster a self-confident attitude, students must have a target score or grade to achieve. These three things influence students' learning motivation to influence the value of assignments. The motivation to learn mathematics in class IX of SMP Negeri 11 Pasuruan City.

Pengaruh Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematik dan Motivasi Belajar terhadap Numerasi Siswa Kelas 4 SD

Numeration has an important role in the future of students. Train students' basic numeracy skills from an early age to prepare the next generation. The motivational boost factor in learning is one of the things that needs to be raised in learning efforts at school. The type of research used is quantitative research. The population of this study was 33 grade 4 students at SDN Sindanglaka Cianjur Regency. The student motivation questionnaire instrument for learning motivation is 25 statements, while problem-solving or problem-solving uses 2 questions. The dependent variable is numeracy ability in grade 4 elementary school, with the form of a test instrument as many as 2 questions. The results of the study concluded that there was no influence of mathematical problem-solving ability and learning motivation on numeracy in grade 4 students at SDN Sindanglaka. Because the application of numeracy in schools has just been implemented in the independent curriculum students do not understand numeracy.

A longitudinal examination of the relations between motivation, math achievement, and STEM career aspirations among Black students

The current study explored individual and gendered differences in Black students’ motivation for learning mathematics using three key Situated Expectancy-Value Theory (SEVT) constructs (expectancies of success, interest, and importance). It also evaluated whether math motivational profiles in 6th grade or 10th grade predicted math achievement and STEM career aspirations in 10th grade among Black students while controlling for prior math achievement. Black students (n = 408, 55% female) attending schools in a metropolitan area of Tennessee, USA and mostly from families surviving economic marginalization completed surveys and math achievement assessments across middle and high school. Latent Profile Analysis identified three profiles of math motivation in 6th grade, including a profile of high motivation across constructs, and Black girls were less likely to be in the high motivational profile than Black boys. Profile membership in 6th grade predicted 10th grade math achievement. In contrast, math motivation profiles in 6th grade did not predict STEM career aspirations in 10th grade. Parallel analyses for concurrent relations in 10th grade were similar, except that there were no gender differences in profile prevalence. Overall, findings suggest that SEVT is useful for understanding motivation and academic performance among Black students when a person-centered analytic approach is used, but more work is needed to expand the theory to understand the development of Black students’ STEM career aspirations.

Pengaruh Pendekatan Permainan dalam Kartu Pinmat Math Hero terhadap Pemahaman Matematika di Tingkat Sekolah Dasar

This qualitative research investigates the use of the Math Hero Flashcards in elementary school children's mathematics education. Math Hero Flashcards are specially designed learning tools aimed at enhancing mathematical understanding, accuracy, and mastery of arithmetic operations for numbers 1-10 through interactive games. The study involves direct observation, interviews, and interactive play with children with the aim of understanding the effects of Math Hero Flashcards on children's mathematical understanding, learning motivation, and interest. The results of the research indicate that the use of Math Hero Flashcards enhances elementary school children's mathematical understanding, fosters motivation for learning, and creates a more enjoyable learning experience. However, some interview participants mentioned that they had found alternatives in the form of math game apps on their phones. Therefore, this research underscores the need for integration between physical learning tools like Math Hero Flashcards and learning technology to achieve holistic and engaging mathematics education for children.

Indigenous Pedagogy Approach in Teaching Mathematics among Orang Asli Primary School Students

There has been a growing interest in implementing Indigenous Pedagogy methods in the education of indigenous students worldwide. This approach considers the students’ unique cultural and linguistic backgrounds and aims to incorporate their traditional knowledge and practices into the curriculum. By doing so, students can understand the relevance of their studies, including the subjects of mathematics in their daily lives and gain a deeper understanding of the subject. Furthermore, involving the community and utilizing culturally relevant materials and activities has increased student engagement and motivation in learning mathematics. This concept paper discusses implementing Indigenous Pedagogy methods in teaching mathematics that can enhance academic outcomes and promote cultural preservation among Orang Asli students. In addition, this concept paper also discusses the difficulties of Orang Asli students in learning mathematics at the primary school level and how Indigenous pedagogy, which is widely practised in many countries, can help tackle the issue. The concept paper delves into the roles of various parties in enhancing the usage of Indigenous pedagogy in Mathematics teaching and learning for Orang Asli students. These parties comprise the Ministry of Education, the Department of Orang Asli Development, NGOs, teachers, parents, and the Orang Asli communities. By collaborating and pooling their resources, the cultural and environmental barriers faced by Orang Asli students in Malaysia can be effectively addressed, eventually enhancing their academic performance.

Application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model with Audio Visual Media to Increase Motivation and Learning Outcomes of Mathematics on Decimal Number Material for Grade IV Students of SD Negeri 5 Bumirejo Academic Year 2022/2023

<p><em>The study aimed to describe the steps for implementing Problem Based Learning with audio-visual media to increase motivation and mathematics learning outcomes, and describe the constraints and solutions in learning with audio visual media. </em><em>The subjects were teachers and fourth grade students at SDN 5 Bumirejo. The data were qualitative and quantitative. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and tests. Data validity used triangulation of sources and triangulation of techniques. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.</em><em> The interview on students’ learning motivation in mathematics about decimals described 57.66% in the first cycle, 70.06 in the second cycle, and 87.40% in third cycle. The students’ learning outcomes increased 70.73% in the first cycle, 79.63% in the second cycle, and 88.89% in the third cycle. It concludes that the implementation of Problem Based Learning with audio visual media improves motivation and mathematics learning outcomes about decimals to fourth grade students of SDN 5 Bumirejo in academic 2022/2023</em></p>

Pelatihan Jarimatika Pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri 4 Citeureup

Following the journey of mathematics at the elementary school level, students often hear complaints when they have to explore concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. In such a dilemma, the need for innovation becomes even more pressing, as a way to carve out a vibrant next generation. The author sees that in learning mathematics, grade 3 students at SD Negeri 4 Citeureup lack enthusiasm for mathematics because this subject is often considered difficult. Overall, the process of implementing community service with a focus on education uses the jarimatics method to increase enthusiasm or motivation in studying mathematics for Citeureup 4 public elementary school students. The results of community service activities include the following: (a) achievement of the target number of participants. (b) the accuracy and skill of students working on multiplication problems. (c) achievement of activity objectives. After a series of training activities were carried out, finally we provided feedback questions from students. Do they feel happy and more motivated in learning mathematics? They all agree that they are happy and feel more motivated. To increase students' interest and motivation in learning mathematics, teachers should use good and effective methods to move and motivate students to be active in learning mathematics.

Development of Learning Media Using Articulate Storylines to Increase Student Motivation in Mathematics Subjects in Elementary Schools

The purpose of this research is to develop learning media based on articulate storylines that are used to increase elementary school students' learning motivation in learning Mathematics.Study This use research methods development (Research and Development or R&D). Research using model study Which adapted from development models ADDIE. This model uses 5 stages that is analysis stage, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Study this is done in 3 schools namely SDN 18, SDN 24 and SDN 30 Payakumbuh City. Province Sumatra West. Data collection was carried out through product validation, interviews, observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis in this study is an analysis of product validity, product practicality and product effectiveness.The results of media validation get a value of 82%, from the validation of language experts get a value of 100%, from the validation of construct experts get a value of 95% and from the results of the material validator get a value of 87%. So that the results are 91% and with the description "very valid" and this product is feasible for trials. The average value of the feasibility test for learning media products is 88.5% which is included in the very feasible category. Distributed from field trials in the 3 schools, the results were 91.33% with the category of students having very high motivation in learning mathematics by using articulate storyline learning media.

Problematika Peserta Didik dalam Operasi Hitung di Kelas 1 SD Negeri 80 Muara Bulian

Mathematics is widely used in various fields of life. However, in reality, activities for every individual cannot always run as they should, there will be some problems, even in learning mathematics. This situation is influenced by a person's comprehension of a lesson. Examples of problems in learning mathematics can be seen in the technique of adding derivatives, which is the result of dozens or tens or two-digit numbers (often called storing numbers), which results in incorrectly determining the results of further arithmetic operations. This research activity uses a qualitative approach. When referring to the problems studied, using qualitative methods makes it possible to gain an understanding of the reality on the ground. Based on the results of observations at SDN 80 Muara Bulian in class 1C in learning to count there were some students who wrote numbers from below which should have been from above so that they looked neat in writing and the prohibition on writing numbers starting from the early grades, so that later students could write numbers correctly. Correct. Learning withdrawal is an activity that is accompanied by symptoms that hinder achieving the desired goal, so efforts are needed to overcome these symptoms. Completion of learning is a disability or imperfection that causes a person to have difficulty carrying out learning activities so that the learning process becomes ineffective. Expansion of learning is a collection of various disorders that vary in manifestations, which are inability to listen, speak, read, write, think, and do arithmetic. Students with learning difficulties tend to have low interest and motivation in learning mathematics, this is shown by students who are not active during class learning, they tend not to want to ask questions when the teacher gives them the opportunity to ask questions. In addition, students are lazy to do exercises or assignments given by the teacher. Students who have difficulties are also often noisy in class and do not pay attention to the teacher's explanation.

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan Model Pembelajaran Inquiry dan Motivasi Belajar Terhadap Hasil Belajar Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII MTsN 3 Dan MTsN 4 Sidoarjo

There are still many learning processes in schools that do not involve students, so students are less creative. There are still many teachers who use the lecture method so that students are passive and not creative, because there is no opportunity to ask questions, discuss with both the teacher and fellow students. The learning process will work well if students are involved in selecting, compiling and participating in learning situations. Problem-based learning models or known as Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry learning models are very important in supporting interactions between students and teachers, between students and students. The purpose of this study was to find out: (1) the differences in learning outcomes between the use of the PBL learning model and the Inquiry learning model in mathematics, (2) the differences in learning outcomes between high learning motivation and low learning motivation in mathematics, and (3) the interaction between the use of the PBL learning model, the Inquiry learning model and learning motivation on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII MTsN 3 and MTsN 4 Sidoarjo. This experimental research was carried out using a 2x2 factorial design. The subjects in this study were class VIII students consisting of four classes with 120 class VIII students at MTsN 3 and MTsN 4 Sidoarjo. The subjects that became the focus of the experiment were taken classically randomly, namely four MIPA1,2,3,4 classes from MTsN 3 and MTsN 4 Sidoarjo. The research hypothesis was tested using the Analysis of Variant (Anova) statistical test. The results of two-way analysis calculations show that: (1) There is a significant difference between the PBL Learning Model and the Inquiry Learning Model on Mathematics learning outcomes, (2) There is a significant difference between high learning motivation and low learning motivation on Mathematics learning outcomes, and ( 3) There is an interaction between the PBL Learning Model and the Inquiry Learning Model and learning motivation on Mathematics learning outcomes for Class VIII MTSN 3 and MTSN 4 Sidoarjo.

The Effect of Realistic Mathematics Education Approach and Learning Motivation To Improving Higher Order Thinking Skills By Controlling Students Intelligence Quotient

This study aimed to determine whether students' HOTS could be improved by using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. More specifically, this research wants to know the effect of the RME approach on HOTS, it will be studied from students' learning motivation and will be controlled for students' Intelligence Quotient (IQ). The research design used was pretest-posttest control group design with covariables and the implementation of the research design was factorial design by level (2 X 3). The research samples were 110 twelfth grade students from two schools in East Jakarta in the 2022/2023 academic year. The results of the study showed that the increase in HOTS of students who were taught using the RME approach was higher than students who were taught with conventional learning after controlling for students' IQ. There are differences in HOTS abilities between students with high, medium, and low motivation after controlling for student IQ. There is an influence between the learning approach and learning motivation on HOTS abilities after controlling for students' Intelligence Quotient.

Motivasi Belajar Siswa Pada Pembelajaran Matematika Kelas IV SDIT Al-Hidyah Pekanbaru

The purpose of this research is to find out how students learn motivation in learning mathematics in class IV SDIT Al-Hidayah Pekanbaru. This type of research is qualitative research with a case study approach. This research was conducted at SDIT Al-Hidayah Pekanbaru with the sample being fourth grade students. Collection techniques used in this study include: interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis used was Miles and Huberman's qualitative data analysis. Based on the results of the data analysis that has been carried out, student motivation in learning mathematics in class IV SDIT Al-Hidayah Pekanbaru is still somewhat inadequate according to the aspects that have been researched and observed. As for signs such as a lack of student motivation in learning mathematics, namely, there are still many students who are lazy in learning or doing assignments given by the teacher while learning mathematics is in progress, there are still students who do not pay attention to the teacher and instead are engrossed in talking and playing with friends when the teacher is explaining in front of the class, there are still students who lack confidence, such as cheating on their friends and don't want to be ordered to do blackboard assignments, there are still students who are sleepy when learning mathematics is in progress, even though the learning environment is quite good.

INTERACTIVE LEARNING MEDIA SUBJECTS MATH ALGEBRA CASE STUDY SMP NEGERI 1 PARONGPONG

Education is a process of changing attitudes and behavior of a person or group of people in an effort to mature humans through teaching and training efforts. Education plays an important role in the progress of a nation. Therefore, quality education is needed to advance a nation. Mathematics is one of the subjects that must be mastered in formal education. Mathematics is a basic science that has an important role in everyday life and in the development of science and technology. However, in reality a lot of students think mathematics is difficult because there are too many formulas that sometimes they don't know where the formulas come from. This has an impact on student motivation in learning mathematics is reduced. As a result, students' mathematics learning outcomes become unsatisfactory. UAT testing aims to evaluate user requirements (user requirements) carried out by 33 respondents consisting of students at SMP NEGERI 1 PARONGPONG. This test is carried out directly at the time of KBM with a questionnaire format distributed in leaflets. And got good results with a percentage of 80.4%.
