Penerapan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah untuk Peningkatan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa Kelas 8 SMP Al-Muhajirin Purwakarta

This research was aimed at analyzing the enhancement of students' mathematical reasoning abilities through problem-based learning. The experimental design was pre-post control group design. The research population was all junior high school student of SMP Al-Muhajirin Purwakarta. The research sample was taken randomly, was the class VIII C students as the experimental group who participated in instruction with problem-based learning and the other class VIII D as control group who participated in instruction with conventional learning. Data was collected through test and questionnaires. The statistical analysis used is the Gain test for the results of students' mathematical reasoning ability tests. The analysis of gain score showed that the enhancement of students’ abilities who participated in instruction with problem-based learning was better than those who participated in instruction with conventional learning. Problem-based learning in mathematics lessons shows a positive response which shows that students like the method used.

PENGARUH STRATEGI WORKING BACKWARD DALAM PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN SISWA SMP NEGERI KOTA JAMBI

Material mathematics and mathematical reasoning are two things that can not be separated, the material is understood through reasoning and mathematical reasoning to understand and learn the material drilled through mathematics. Working Backward strategy is a strategy that is closely associated with logical reasoning ability and verification. Working Backward strategy, students are required to analyze each step by using reasoning. This study used a quasi-experimental methods. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in the effect of the use of the Working Backward strategy in solving math problems on mathematical reasoning abilities of students. The experiment was conducted in Jambi City Junior High School. The population are 375 students, while the studied sample totaled 68 students consisting of 34 students in grade experiments and 34 students the control class. Sampling was done by using simple random sampling technique in class VII. Instruments in this study was a test in the form of mathematical reasoning abilities test description. The results showed that the average value of the experimental class of 74.92 and an average grade of 67.65 control. These results suggest that there are differences average value of the experimental class with the control class. So it can be concluded that the use of the Working Backward strategy in solving mathematical problems affect the ability of mathematical reasoning seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 11 Jambi. Mathematical Reasoning Ability and Mathematics Self-efficacy in Gender Differences

Gender differences and aspects of self-efficacy are factors influencing the success of the mathematics learning process. This study aims to obtain an explanation of mathematical reasoning abilities based on gender differences in terms of mathematical self-efficacy. The sample of this research is a collection of scores of mathematical reasoning abilities, gender differences, and mathematical self-efficacy scores of XIth grade students from a high school in Bandung. The research sample consisted of 35 students, consisting of 19 male and 16 female students. The research instruments were tests of mathematical reasoning abilities (MRA), gender differences, and a mathematics self-efficacy (SEM) questionnaire. Data analysis was done using ANACOVA, with MRA in the form of interval scale, gender category scale, and SEM as covariate with interval scale. The results of the study were as follows: (1) there is a linear relationship between mathematical self-efficacy and mathematical reasoning ability; (2) there is no difference in students’ mathematical reasoning abilities based on gender differences. Improving Mathematics Reasoning Ability of Junior High School Students Using the Learning Star with a Questions Model

This study examines the differences in increasing mathematical reasoning abilities using the Learning start with a question learning model and conventional learning. The research method is quantitative by way of experimental pretest-posttest control group design, which extends the one-group pretest-posttest design in two ways: a second group is added, called the comparison or control group; samples were placed randomly in each group of 83 people. The instrument used is an essay test; the questions are set in the form of mathematical reasoning abilities. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics with an independent sample t-test. The research results obtained are: The application of the LSQ learning model, most students, can solve mathematical reasoning questions correctly. The average score of students who follow the LSQ learning model is higher than the average value of students who take conventional learning; The results of the t-test explained that students who studied using the LSQ model and students who used conventional learning had significantly different improvements in their mathematical reasoning abilities. Students who learn to use the LSQ model increase their reasoning abilities more than the students who study using the conventional model. Constructing The Bridge of Understanding: The Role of Habit of Mind, Resilience, and Mathematical Self-Confidence in Solving HOTS Problems


 
 
 This study aims to analyze the influence of Habit of Mind, Mathematical Resilience, and Self-Confidence on the ability of fifth-grade students at SDN Gugus Gajah Mungkur, Gajah Mungkur District, Semarang City, to solve HOTS mathematics problems. Employing a quantitative approach with a correlational design, the research sample consists of 110 students, selected through proportional random sampling from a population of 136 students across five elementary schools within the Gajah Mungkur cluster. The research instruments include a mathematical reasoning ability test and a questionnaire to measure the independent variables. Data collection techniques involve tests and questionnaires, while data analysis employs descriptive analysis using Microsoft Excel 2016 and inferential analysis using statistical software such as SPSS. This includes conducting correlation tests, and regression tests, after verifying analysis requirements like normality, linearity, homoscedasticity, and autocorrelation. The results reveal a positive and significant relationship between Habit of Mind, Mathematical Resilience, and Self-Confidence, and the students' ability to solve HOTS Mathematics problems. Thus, this study highlights the importance of developing these three psychological aspects to enhance high-level mathematical problem-solving skills. Consequently, Habit of Mind, Mathematical Resilience, and Self-Confidence significantly contribute to improving students' abilities in solving HOTS Mathematics problems.
 
 

Fostering students’ mathematical reasoning through a cooperative learning model

This study sought to ascertain whether the student teams-achievement division (STAD) model of cooperative learning is effective in fostering students’ mathematical reasoning. Using the cluster random sampling technique, 301 eleventh-grade students between the ages of 14 and 20 were chosen from six public secondary schools within one district in Zambia. Students were given tasks on quadratic equations and functions both before and after the intervention. A robust analysis of the covariance test revealed that students’ mathematical reasoning abilities were significantly higher for the group that received instruction using the STAD approach than for the group that was taught using conventional methods of instruction at each of the five design points where regression slopes were comparable. A Chi-square test of independence further revealed that the STAD learning approach was associated with a greater proportion of students who demonstrated an appropriate degree of mathematical reasoning ability for each of the three indicators (conjecturing, justifying, and mathematizing). These results demonstrate that enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning abilities through the integration of classroom activities that engage students intellectually, physically, and socially is beneficial.

COMMUNICATION SKILL ENHANCEMENT AND MATHEMATICAL REASONING MADRASAH ALIYAH STUDENTS BY MODEL TYPE COOPERATIVE LEARNING GAMES TEAMS TOURNAMENT

Communication skills and mathematical reasoning are two of the objectives study of mathematics. Communication is defined as the ability to write, read, listen, examine, interpret, and evaluate ideas, symbols, terms, and mathematical information. Mathematical reasoning is a habit that when the brain is well developed and consistent will facilitate the mathematical communication both written and oral. Therefore, the necessary relevant learning model is needed to optimize, improve, and develop the communication and mathematical reasoning abilities of students. One of the learning model is a cooperative learning model called Teams Games Tournament (TGT). The aim of this study is to determine: (1) the increase in communication and mathematical reasoning abilities that students acquire with cooperative learning model TGT better than students who receive conventional learning approaches, and (2) the attitude of students towards learning mathematics with cooperative learning model TGT. This research is an experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The populations in this study were all students of class XI MAN 2 Aceh Besar, which consists of five classes. While the sample is composed of two classes of experimental classes and control classes were taken by random sampling. The instruments used to obtain research data communications test and mathematical reasoning ability, and attitude scale questionnaire. The statistical test used for analyzing data to increase communication skills and mathematical reasoning is two lanes ANOVA test, while the attitude scale questionnaire is calculated based on a percentage. The results showed that overall improvement in communication and mathematical reasoning abilities that students acquire learning with the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament better than students who received study with conventional approaches. The results of student questionnaire concluded that, in general the students have   a positive attitude towards learning mathematics using the cooperative learning model TGT.

Profile of Mathematical Reasoning Ability of Students of SMK Ma'wataibin Pagelaran in Solving Problems of Arithmetic Rows and Rows

This study describes the profile of students' mathematical reasoning ability in solving arithmetic rows and series problems. Based on the results of observations and interviews with the mathematics teacher of class X SMK Ma'wataibin Pagelaran Malang, information was obtained that 83% of students in the class tended not to be able to conclude the answer. This descriptive research uses a qualitative approach. The sample of this research is 19 students of class X SMK Ma'wataibin Pagelaran. They then selected one each in the high, medium, and low-level categories. Then, interviews were conducted with each subject to explore deeper information. The test instrument used is 1 question that contains four indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. The test results obtained that students in the high mathematical reasoning ability category amounted to 7 students, with a percentage of 36.85%. Students in the moderate mathematical reasoning ability category amounted to 8 students, with a rate of 42.10%. Students in the low mathematical reasoning ability category amounted to 4 students, with a rate of 21.05%. Based on the results of the data analysis, it is shown that high-category students fulfill four indicators of reasoning ability according to their abilities. Medium-category students correctly fulfill three indicators of mathematical reasoning ability: writing conjectures, doing work, and providing reasons/evidence. Low-category students only fulfill one indicator of mathematical reasoning ability, namely writing conjectures.

Development of Mathematics Learning Tools Based on the M-Apos Approach to Improve the Reasoning Ability of Class VII Students

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to produce a valid, practical and effective learning tool which is students’ worksheet (LKPD) based on the M-APOS approach to improve the mathematical reasoning abilities of seventh grade junior high school students.   Methodology/design/approach: This study uses the Plomp model, which consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, development stage, and assessment stage. The research subjects were seventh grade Junior High School students. The instruments used are LKPD validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, learning implementation observation sheets, and tests. Data was processed using percentages and t-test.   Results and conclusion: Based on the results of the research, several conclusions were obtained, namely (1) The learning tools based on the M-APOS approach have met the valid product quality criteria both in terms of content and constructs, (2) The learning tools based on the M-APOS approach were practical to use in the learning process because they are attractive, easy to use, and time efficient, and (3) The learning tools based on the M-APOS approach have also met the criteria for effectiveness because they have a positive impact on students' mathematical reasoning ability.   Recommendations: It is recommended that teachers are able to use this LKPD for the learning process. Students should be involved in the process of understanding the learning concepts.

Meta-analysis: The effect of the discovery learning model on indonesian students’ mathematics reasoning

The ability of mathematical reasoning is one of the important skills for students. The discovery learning model is a suitable learning model to enhance students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The research uses meta-analysis methods through a review of articles in Indonesian national journals. From Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, and Sinta ristekbrin, the author obtained 10 studies that met the inclusion criteria for analysis on the Meta-Mar website to obtain a combined effect size. From the interpretation of this combined effect size, it can be concluded that the overall implementation of the discovery learning model has a moderate effect on students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The characteristics of this research study include educational level, year of research, and sample size. From the statistics, it was found that implementing the discovery learning model to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities is influenced by educational level, year of research, and sample size.

Students' Inductive Reasoning Ability in Solving Fractional Problems Through Contextual Approach

Students can think and reason about a math problem if they can understand the math problem. A way of looking at mathematical problems also influences the mindset about the solution to be done. Through a contextual approach, students can practice their thinking skills in solving problems. This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical inductive reasoning with a contextual approach in solving fractional problems. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The number of subjects in this study was 1 obtained using the Purposive Sampling technique using certain criteria, namely student test results on fractional material. The instruments used are using tests and interviews. Tests are used for the process of determining subjects, and interviews are used to determine inductive reasoning abilities. The interview process used is an unstructured interview and is conducted on subjects, peers, and subject teachers. Data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis consist of data collection, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of data analysis show that subjects in the process of solving problems on fractional material have inductive reasoning abilities in the process of solving problems and meet all indicators of inductive reasoning used in this study, namely observing the pattern of questions given, looking for relationships contained in the questions to facilitate problem solving, and determining the estimation of problem solving and drawing conclusions,  and can predict the pattern of solving the next problem

Analisis Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa dalam Mengerjakan Soal Cerita Materi Kelas VIII SMP

This research is a descriptive research that aims to analyze the level of students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving math problems in the form of stories. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Sungaipuh with the subjects taken, namely class VIII C students for the 2022-2023 academic year. The instrument used is a test of mathematical reasoning ability as many as 4 items and interviews with several students. The results showed that the students' mathematical reasoning abilities at SMP Negeri 7 Sungai Lilin were classified as moderate. students are able to imagine how to solve questions and apply them when answering questions. However, there are still students who are less able to understand the meaning of one of the questions given and indicators of drawing conclusions that are still lacking.

Development of learning video rotation using Palembang tanjak context to determine students’ mathematical reasoning

This research is essential as a starting point in using learning videos on rotation material assisted by the Palembang tanjak context so that students' mathematical reasoning abilities are good. This research aims to produce a learning video on rotation material using the Palembang tanjak context that is valid and practical, as well as to determine the potential effect of using videos on rotation material using the Palembang tanjak context on students' mathematical reasoning ability. PMRI and collaborative learning approaches were also used in this research. This type of research is a design research type of development studies. The subjects of this study involved 28 students of class IX.A. Data collection techniques were observation, tests, and interviews. The data analysis technique is descriptive. This research resulted in a learning video on rotation material using the context of Palembang tanjak, which was developed to be valid and practical and potentially affected students' mathematical reasoning ability with an average of 67.625. Learning videos on rotation material can be used to train students' mathematical reasoning skills within the Palembang Tanjak context.

Kemampuan penalaran matematis konten PLSV ditinjau dari gaya belajar siswa di SMP

This study was motivated by the low mathematical reasoning ability of students. This happens because students cannot fulfill the indicators of mathematical reasoning. This study aims to describe students' mathematical reasoning ability on the material of linear equation one variable based on students' learning style. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were three students consisting of one visual learning style student, one audiotorial learning style student, and one kinesthetic learning style student of class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Kemusu. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires, tests, and interviews. Questionnaires were used to categorize students' learning styles. While the test was conducted to determine the mathematical reasoning ability of students and interviews were conducted to strengthen the answers to the test questions that had been done. The results of this study indicate that visual learning style and kinesthetic learning style students have high mathematical reasoning and audiotorial learning style has low mathematical reasoning.

Analysis of Mathematical Reasoning Ability of Class XI Students at Bina Husada Mandiri Bekasi Vocational School on Sequences and Series Material

The aim of this research is to analyze students' mathematical reasoning abilities on sequence and series material. This research was conducted on class XI students of Bina Husada Mandiri Vocational School. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects taken were 30 class XI students using data collection techniques using purposive sampling. The research results showed that students with low ability were 26.67% with 8 students and those with medium ability were 53.33% with 16 students. Meanwhile, students with high abilities were recorded at 20% with a total of 6 students. Thus, in the sequence and series material, class XI students at Bina Husada Mandiri Vocational School have mathematical reasoning abilities in the medium category. Mathematical reasoning abilities can be developed and improved with support and appropriate learning approaches. With a holistic and focused approach, students can better internalize mathematical concepts and obtain optimal mathematical reasoning skills, thereby increasing the effectiveness of learning on sequence and series material

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran PBL Berbantuan Aplikasi Geogebra Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa Kelas VIII

This research aims to: (1) improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities by applying the problem based learning model assisted by the Geogebra application in mathematics learning for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Sunggal; (2) describe the process of completing student answers related to students' mathematical reasoning by applying the problem based learning model assisted by the Geogebra application. This research is Class Action Research. The subjects in this research were 28 students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Sunggal. The results of the research show that: (1) students' mathematical reasoning can improve after learning by applying the problem based learning model assisted by the Geogebra application where the average student score in the cycle I reasoning ability test was 65.85, increasing to 85.39 in cycle II and classical completeness in the reasoning ability test in cycle I was 16 students (57.14%) increasing to 26 students (87.88%) in cycle II; (2) the process of students' answers in completing the mathematical reasoning ability test is in the good category, this can be seen from the students' answers which have been able to meet the indicators of mathematical reasoning ability. So it is concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by the Geogebra application can improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities.

Perbedaan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa Menggunakan Model Pembelajaran Discovery Learning dan Model Pembelajaran Konvensional pada Tingkat SMP

This research aims: (1) students' mathematical reasoning ability using the Discovery Learning learning model is higher than students' mathematical reasoning ability using conventional learning models in class VII MTs Yaspi Labuhan Deli, (2) the process of solving answers made by students in solving problems in the Discovery Learning learning model and Conventional learning model. This type of research is quantitative research with Quasi-Experimental methods. This research was conducted at MTs Yaspi Labuhan Deli. The sampling technique in this study uses Purposive Sampling techniques, namely class VII-A as a class taught with a Discovery Learning learning model and class VII-B as a class taught with a conventional learning model. The data collection instrument used was in the form of observation sheets and student mathematical reasoning ability test sheets in the form of 3 essay questions. Data analysis in this study used t-Test with Independent Sample t-Test technique with the help of SPSS 20 program. The results of this study showed that the average score of classes taught using the discovery learning model was 78,01 and classes taught using conventional learning models were 72,22. For hypothesis testing carried out using a t-test, from the calculation results obtained a value of  (2.664) >  (1.66757) with a Sig.2-tailed level of 0.010 < 0.05, which means that  rejected and  was accepted, so that it is concluded that there is a significant difference in the average mathematical reasoning ability of students using the Discovery Learning learning model and the Conventional learning model. Based on the analysis of the process of completing students' answers to the mathematical reasoning ability test that get Discovery Learning learning is better than students who get conventional learning.

Analisis Proses Berpikir Siswa Pada Materi Persamaan Kuadrat Berdasarkan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis

Students' mathematical reasoning skills are very important in understanding mathematical concepts and solving mathematical problems. The lack of students' reasoning ability can affect student learning outcomes that do not reach the target so it needs to be honed in order to realize appropriate learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to find out students' thought process in solving quadratic equation problems based on mathematical reasoning ability. The type of research used is qualitative research, and uses a descriptive approach. The source of data in this research is class IX students totaling 22 students with the subject selected 3 students. The data analysis technique in this research is qualitative data analysis. From the test results of students' mathematical reasoning abilities are categorized based on the assessment reference. Researchers categorized it into 3 categories, namely high, medium, and low. Based on the results of tests and interviews, students in the high category can fulfill 4 indicators well. Students in the medium category were only able to fulfill indicators 1 and 2 well, for indicator 3 could not be fulfilled well so they could not fulfill indicator 4. Subject 3 in the low category was only able to fulfill indicator 2 well. Indicators 1 and 3 were not well met.

Meningkatkan Kemampuan Penalaran Matematis Siswa dengan Menggunakan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik (PMR) di Kelas VII

This research aims to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities by using students' realistic mathematical approach to the material of plane figures, quadrilaterals, triangles. This type of research is classroom action research which consists of 2 cycles. The subjects of this research were students in class VII-8 of SMP Negeri 31 Medan, consisting of 32 students. The instruments used in this research were initial test sheets, mathematical reasoning ability test sheets and observation sheets. After the research was carried out for 2 cycles, the results of this research showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes. This is indicated by the average value in cycle I being 78.78 to 87.28 in cycle II. Meanwhile, the percentage of classical completion increased from cycle I, namely 62.5% to 87.5% in cycle II, so it can be seen that this research has met the specified success indicators. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that: 1) the mathematical reasoning abilities of class VIII-1 students at SMPN 31 Medan increased after implementing a learning process with a realistic mathematical approach. 2) by applying a realistic mathematical approach to the learning process, students' mathematical reasoning abilities increase until they reach classical mastery.

The Impact of the Creative Problem-Solving (CPS) Learning Model on the Mathematical Reasoning Skills of 8th-grade Junior High School Students Studying Systems of Linear Equations with Two Variables

The goal of this research is to examine the effect of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) Learning Model on Students’ Mathematical Reasoning Abilities in the Topic of Systems of Linear equations with Two Variables for 8th-grade students in a Public Junior High School I Jabung of Malang. This study used an Experimental Design. The research subjects consist of 60 students from two groups. The sampling technique used is Random Cluster Sampling. The research instrument used is a test. The data analysis techniques include descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and SPSS. The results of this study indicate a significant effect of the creative problem-solving Learning model on students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. This is evident from the average score in the experimental group, which is 72.600, and the average score in the control group, which is 2.200. Based on the results of the inferential statistical analysis, the post-test value obtained is t-value = 0.694, which is greater than the t-table value of 0.58. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) is injected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. This means that the Creative Problem-Solving learning model significantly affects students’ mathematical reasoning.
