Efektivitas Pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis

The problem in this study is the low mathematical problem solving of students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to mathematical problem solving abilities. The method in research is quantitative method. The type of research used to investigate causal relationships is quasi-experiment where experimental units are divided into experimental groups and control groups without randomization. The research design chosen is Non-equivalent control group design. This research will be carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Ciautumn in February 2023. Samples were taken by purposive sampling consisting of classes VII A and B (Experimental Class) and classes VII C and D (Control Class). The number of students of both classes is the same which is 24 students, a total sample of 48 students. The results of the hypothesis test on the results of post-test data showed that there was a significant difference between students' mathematical problem solving abilities after applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in the experimental class and the conventional model of the control class. There was a significant improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving ability in the experimental group compared to students' mathematical problem-solving skills in the control group

Implementation Of Cooperative Learning Model With React Strategies To Improve Student Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

This research is an experimental study that examines problem posing in an effort to improve the ability of mathematical problem solving of students conducted at SMA Negeri 15 Medan with a sample of class XI as many as two classes taken randomly.The instrument used in this study was a student mathematical problem solving test in the form of multiple choices to determine the ability of students to solve mathematical problems. The results of the study concluded that mathematical problem solving abilities who obtained cooperative models of Jigsaw with REACT's strategy increased better than the mathematical problem solving abilities who obtained conventional learning. Student activities that follow the cooperative model of Jigsaw with REACT's strategy reflect active activities, and student responses to the cooperative model of Jigsaw with REACT's strategy are very good. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of the cooperative model of Jigsaw with REACT's strategy is effective in improving mathematical problem solving, and student learning activities.

PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VIII

Problem solving ability was one of learning mathematics goals goals that have to achieved by students. However, in the real skills of mathematical problem solving by students in schools are still lack. One solution to finish these problems was to use the model of Problem Based Learning. The ultimate goal of this research was to find out whether the skill of mathematical problem solving of students who studied with the Problem Based Learning model were more good than students who studied with the model learning in Direct for class VIII MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan. The research type used was nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. The research population were students of class VIII at MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan. Sampling was carried out using non-random sampling (non-random sample) with purposive sampling technique by assigning class VIII 1 as the group for experimental and VIII 2 as the group for control. Based on the analysis of Problem Solving Ability test data, P-value = 0.00 is obtained with a level in significant (α = 0.05), because the P-value , then is rejected. The conclusion obtained is that students who learn with the model of Problem Based Learning was more good than those who learn with the model of learning in direct for class VIII MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan.Keywords - Problem Based Learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Berbasis Etnomatematika terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII SMPN 1 Bambanglipuro

The ability to solve problems is a basic ability which is one of the goals of learning mathematics. Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on ethnomathematics can be a solution to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities with a cultural approach around students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of ethnomathematical-based CTL model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of class VIII students of SMP N 1 Bambanglipuro. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental type. The design of this research is non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Bambanglipuro for the 2020/2021 academic year. Purposive sampling technique used to select class VIII A as the control class, conducted 24 students, and class VIII C as the experimental class, conducted 24 students. The instrument used to determine the level of student problem solving is in the form of Prisma essay test material. The data analysis technique used is the average difference test using the t-test. The results showed that the average mathematical problem solving of students with the ethnomathematics-based CTL model was more than the average mathematical problem solving of students with conventional learning. Thus it can be said that the application of ethnomathematical-based CTL is effective in solving students' mathematical problems.

Mathematical Problem Solving for Students in the Superior Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Category

The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical problem solving of students in the superior intelligence quotient (IQ) category. This research was conducted at MAN 1 Trenggalek because the school had already conducted an IQ test. This study uses a qualitative approach with an exploratory descriptive type. The subjects in this study were students who had done an IQ test with a superior IQ. This study will describe 2 subjects based on relatively similar tendencies. Data collection techniques used documentation studies on IQ, math problem solving, think aloud, and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis in this study refers to Polya's research on mathematical problem solving. The validity of the data in this study used triangulation techniques. The results of this study indicate that students with superior IQ are able to fulfill the stages of solving mathematical problems, namely understanding the problem, planning strategies, implementing plans, and evaluating. It is shown that superior IQ students are able to solve problems according to problem solving procedures with the abilities possessed by superior IQ category students.

The research Data the initial test, final test and questionnaire of students ' attitudes.Of the research problem solving obtained F_(count )= 8,79 > F_(table )= 4,15 there are differences in the improvement of mathematics problem solving ability of students who are given the PBI compared with students who were given the PMK. Conclusion : There is the influence of problem-solving ability of mathematics students who received problem-based learning model (Problem Based Intruction) is better than the mathematics problem solving ability of students who obtain a model of conventional teaching.

Differences in Increasing Students' Communication Skills and Mathematical Problem Solving through Project-Based Learning with Virtual Manipulative and Physical Manipulative Media at SMP Plus Jabal Rahmah Mulia Medan

This study aims to analyze the differences in the improvement of mathematical communication skills and mathematical problem solving of students who are taught using manipulative virtual learning media and physical manipulative learning through project-based learning models (PjBL), as well as analyzing the performance of class VII students of SMP Plus Jabal Rahmah Mulia Medan in solving problems. questions that measure communication skills and mathematical problem solving. Data obtained through subjective tests or essay tests, each of which measures the students' mathematical problem solving and communication skills. Data were analyzed using ANACOVA test. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of the private high school Jabal Rahmam Mulia for the 2020/2021 academic year. While the sample in this study is class VIII1 which is the first experimental class which is taught using manipulative virtual learning media and class VIII2 is the second experimental class which is taught using physical manipulative learning media. Based on the results of the ANACOVA calculation, the analysis results obtained F_hitung = 3,450 ˃ Ftable = 3.38 and with sig = 000, because the significant level is smaller than 0.05 so that H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted. Thus, there are differences in problem-solving abilities between students who are given a realistic mathematics approach assisted by macromedia flash and students who are given a contextual approach assisted by macromedia flash. Based on the results of the analysis F_count = 20.889 ˃ F table = 3.38 and with sig = 000, because the significant level is smaller than 0.05 so that H_0 is rejected and H_a is accepted. Thus, there are differences in mathematical communication skills between students who are given virtual manipulative assisted project-based learning (PjBL VM) and students who are given physical manipulative assisted project-based learning (PjBL PM).

Assessment of learning progression on mathematical problem solving of students using open approach

The purpose of this research was to assess the progress of mathematical problem solving skills of students at Bannamphrae School in Chiang Mai in which the Open Approach was employed for class management. This research study was a quantitative research. The scope of the study included 23 fifth-grade students at Bannamphrae School in Chiang Mai, who had been selected through the purposive random sampling from the population covering 520 students in total. All of the students were in the fifth to sixth grades and were from 18 schools nationwide, which were participating in the Project on Advanced-Thinking Skills Development on Mathematics in the Northeast. The instrument used in the study was the mathematics problem solving test, which was comprised of 6 main items and 9 minor items. The data was analyzed via Conquest 2.0 software to discover the progress of their mathematical problem solving abilities through the developed framework of learning progress including 4 levels ranging from 0 to 3. The research revealed that the students at Bannamphrae School had shown different levels of progress with respect to mathematics problem solving as follows: 10 students were at Level 0 (Need Improvement), 6 students at Level 1 (Fair), 2 students at Level 2 (Good), and 6 students were at Level 3 (Very Good).

Improving the Ability of Representation and Problem Solving Through Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) Approach in Mathematical Learning

The representation and mathematical problem-solving abilities of students are still relatively low. The low ability is due to the lack of attention of the implementers of learning to develop learning that can improve the ability of representation and mathematical problem-solving. One effort that can be done is to apply to learn through the Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) approach. This study aims to analyze the increase in representation ability and mathematical problem solving of students and to examine the interaction between student learning and the ability of representation and mathematical problem solving of students. This research is quantitative research with an experimental method with the design of the pretest-posttest group design. The population of this study was all students of SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh with a sample of two classes which became the experimental and control classes. The instrument of data collection is a test of representation ability and mathematical problem-solving. Data analysis of the study was carried out with SPSS 23 assisted two-way ANOVA for windows at a significant level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that: 1) the improvement of the representation and mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who obtained learning through the CRA approach was better than improving the problem-solving abilities of students who obtained conventional learning 2) there was no interaction between the CRA approach and the student level towards improving representation and solving abilities mathematical problem

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa di SMP Negeri 3 Kota Tangeran

The research was distributed by the student's mathematical problem solving ability are low caused still present the implementation of learning mathematics based on teachers and the lack of teachers in the conditioning provide the capability of solving mathematical problems. One of the attempts to fix it is to implement cooperative learning model type CIRC. this research aims to know the influence of cooperative learning model type CIRC against an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students in SMP Negeri 3 Kota Tangerang. This research was conducted on grade VIII in SMP Negeri 3 Kota Tangerang 2018/2019 school year. Sampling techniques using cluster random sampling by specifying a class experiment in class VIII-4 (cooperative learning model type CIRC.) and one control class in class VIII-5 (model learning conventional) of four classes randomly selected between VIII4-VIII7 class. Data analysis techniques using a t-test with a test of normality test analysis prerequisite test using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and its homogeneity by using Fisher test. The first hypothesis to be tested, namely an increase in the ability of mathematical problem solving of students with the influence of cooperative learning model type CIRC in class experiments. The test results showed tcalculate = 33.3147 ttable = 1.9949 and then accept H1 tcalculate > ttable criteria, meaning that there is an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students in classes that use cooperative learning model type CIRC. The second hypothesis to be tested, namely an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students with the influence of conventional learning model in the control class. The test results indicate tcalculate = 31.7777 and ttable = 1.9949 then accept H1 tcalculate > ttable criteria, meaning that there is an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students in classes that use conventional learning. The third hypothesis will be tested i.e. mathematical problem solving ability improvement is higher between the two classes. The test results indicate tcalculate = 6.0357 and ttable = 1.9949, then accept H1 tcalculate > ttable criteria on a 5% significance level, meaning there is an increased ability of the mathematical problem solving of students in classes that use the model cooperative learning type CIRC higher than those using conventional learning. The results of hypothesis testing gives the conclusion that there is an influence of the application of the cooperative learning model type CIRC against an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students in SMP Negeri 3 Kota Tangerang

Efektifitas Pembelajaran Dengan Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis

This research is motivated by students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. One way to improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities is with the CTL learning approach. The purpose of this research is: 1) to know whether the average ability of mathematical problem solving of students who get learning with CTL approach is higher than the average problem-solving abilities of mathematical students who obtain conventional learning; 2) to find out whether the average mathematical problem-solving ability of the students who acquired the learning with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach is higher than the minimum criterion value (KKM). This research type is quasi-experiment. The research design used is Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Renggiang, East Belitung Regency in the academic year 2015/2016. Sampling was done by cluster random sampling. The sample in this research is class VII. 2 as the experimental class and class VII.3 as the control class. The research instrument used is a valid test instrument in the form of a matter of pretest and posttest in the form of a description. Data were analyzed using a non-parametric statistic test. The results of the research have shown that the average problem-solving ability of students who acquire mathematics learning with CTL approach is better than students who follow the conventional mathematics learning, the average problem-solving ability of mathematical students who gain learning with CTL approach less than or equal with KKM. ANALISIS KESULITAN SISWA DALAM PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIK SISWA KELAS X SMK BINA INSAN BANGSA PADA MATERI PERSAMAAN DAN PERTIDAKSAMAAN

This article is an analysis of the results of problem solving questions of class X students of Bina Insan Bangsa Vocational School. The analysis was conducted to find out the problems experienced by students and to determine the level of problem-solving difficulties of students of the National Vocational High School. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The samples taken for this study were 20 class X students of Bina Insan Bangsa Vocational School. The mathematical problem solving test instruments provided were 3 items. The results of the analysis obtained based on the written test carried out is that the mathematical problem solving of students at the National Human Resources Vocational School is relatively low.

Effect of "Understand and Solve " Strategy Instruction on Mathematical Problem Solving of Students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of “Understand and Solve!” Strategy on change problems including change of a one-step addition and subtraction of children with mild intellectual disabilities and whether they maintained their achievements 3, 5, and 8 weeks after the intervention. Moreover, the effects of the Understand and Solve! Strategy on generalization to different types of problems and multiple step problems as well as on the perception, attitudes, knowledge, use, and control of problem solving strategy were investigated. Three students with intellectual disabilities who were 11 to 12 years old and attended 5th grade participated in the study. “A Multiple Probe Design Across Subjects,” which is one of the single subject research designs, was used in the study. The findings of this study showed that Understand and Solve! Strategy was effective in teaching students with mild intellectual disabilities solving change problems including one-step addition and subtraction, they maintained their skills and generalized their skills to different problem types, two-step change problems. As a result of the intervention, students’ perception and attitudes towards mathematics as well as knowledge, use and control of strategies to solve mathematical problems positively changed.

INDUCTIVE APPROACH IMPLEMENTATION TO IMPROVE THE MATHEMATICHAL REASONING, PROBLEM-SOLVING, AND SELF-CONCEPT OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KARAWANG DISTRICT

Inductive Approach is an alternative that is offered to overcome the problem of low mathematical reasoning ability, problem-solving, and self-concept of students. The population in this study is all students of state SMP in Karawang district. The selected sample is for the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Pangkalan, Karawang district in the academic year 2017-2018. Sampling was done by sampling technique, in random sampling was taken 1 experiment class and 1 control class. The result of the research shows improvement of reasoning ability and mathematical problem solving of students who gain learning with the inductive approach is better than students who get regular learning. The self-concept of students acquiring learning with an inductive approach is smaller or equal to that of students who acquire regular learning. The association between reasoning ability and mathematical problem solving is in the moderate category. The association between reasoning ability and student self-concept is in a low category. The association between problem-solving ability and student self-concept is in a low category. The description of the learning process with the Inductive Approach is already in line with the syntax of learning with the Inductive Approach. As for the students' difficulties in working on problems of reasoning and problem solving, among others, the difficulty of identifying the interrelationships between concepts, the difficulty of identifying strategies that can be taken, carrying out calculations, and careless in re-examining the solutions obtained. Problem Solving Ability and Problem Based Learning

The research was caused by the poor of mathematical problem solving ability of students. This research aimed to compare of mathematical problem solving between students who learned through problem based learning and scientific approach. The method was an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design involving two groups and random sampling. At the first and end of learning, the two classes are given a test. The population in this research were Madrasah Aliyah students in Cimahi, while the sample consisted of two randomly selected classes. One class which was given problem based learning and other class was given a scientific approach. The instrument was a set of 5-item mathematical problem solving test description, then those were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistics using the help of minitab 17 software. Based on the results of the research, the conclusion was the improvement of mathematical problem solving of students using problem based learning was better than students who use a scientific approach.

The Effects of Schema-Based Instruction on the Mathematical Problem Solving of Students With Emotional and Behavioral Disorders

The current study examines the effects of schema instruction on the problem-solving performance of four second-grade students with emotional and behavioral disorders. The existence of a functional relationship between the schema instruction intervention and problem-solving accuracy in mathematics is examined through a single case experiment using a multiple baseline across participants design. Visual analysis and a non-parametric effect size (ES) demonstrate improvement in problem-solving accuracy for grade-level word problems involving addition and subtraction of two-digit integers without regrouping. Tau- U ESs for four participants ranged from 63% to 98%. The students and special education teacher reported the intervention package was socially valid.

Penerapan Pendekatan Matematika Realistik Terhadap Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa

This paper discusses of difference to increasing ability of mathematical problem solving of students who obtain realistic mathematics approach and students who received conventional methods. Subject of this research are X.I as experimental class and X.G as controls class, in which every class consist of 40 students. The instrument used to measure the ability of a test of problem solving is a five essay test. While the analysis used in the study were different test average. The conclusion of this study are: mathematical problem solving ability of students who obtain realistic mathematics learning is higher than the mathematical problem solving ability of students who acquire learning by conventional methods.

Penggunaan assessment for learning (AFL) melalui peer assessment untuk meningkatkan mathematical problem solving

The aim of the study to examine differences upgrade in mathematical problem solving of students in Calculus 1 Course after getting learning Assessment For Learning Through Peer Assessment. Two classes selected by cluster random sampling, the class I-C selected as an experimental class and class I-B as the control class. The study uses a method mix. Based on data analysis, by using assessment for learning through peer assessment, the students had the mathematical problem-solving abilities better than students who do not use it. Also based on the quality normalized gain, analysis represents the improvement of mathematical problem solving for students who receive peer learning through better assessment than students who did not get it. The students were able to conduct discussions properly, take feedback in questions, comments and objections for the teaching materials and worksheets and also were able to assess they friend tasking result properly through peer assessment.

Upaya Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa Kelas Vii Smp Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta Melalui Penerapan Pendekatan Pembelajaran Problem Posing

<p><em>Problem-solving ability is one of the objectives to be achieved in mathematics. This capability is not only used in solving problems related to the field of mathematics, but can be used in solving the problems faced by students in the day-to-day life. One way to develop this ability in mathematics learning is learning by problem posing approach. This approach gives the opportunity for students to formulate questions that are simpler than the available problems. This research aims is to improve the ability of mathematical problem solving of students of grade VIIA, Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta through learning “problem solving”. This is a classroom action research; with the subject of the research were seventh grade students of Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta. The results of study showed that the approach can enhance the ability of posing a problem-solving mathematical, grade VII A Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 9 Yogyakarta.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords</em></strong> : <em>Problem posing, problem solving ability</em></p>
