Mengatasi Intoleransi Siswa Menggunakan Konseling Behavioristik Teknik Kontrak Perilaku Di SMAN 2 Bae Kudus

The aims of this study are: 1. To describe the factors that cause students at SMAN 2 Bae Kudus to have intolerance. 2. Overcoming student intolerance using behavioristic counseling with behavioral contract techniques at SMAN 2 Bae Kudus.The type of research used is guidance and counseling case studies with qualitative methods; the subjects studied were two students from SMAN 2 Bae Kudus. The methods used in this study are interviews, observation and documentation in an in-depth way so that later you can obtain accurate data about the problem under study, namely the problem of intolerance behavior. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there are two factors that cause intolerance in students, namely internal factors and external factors. There are several factors that cause MF to behave intolerantly, namely not liking informatics lessons even with the teacher, feeling uncomfortable in class, and often talking to himself with his classmates or around his bench when the lesson is in progress. While the factors that cause JI to behave intolerantly are feeling bored with math lessons, not liking math lessons, sleeping during class, and playing on their own cellphones when lessons are in progress, Therefore, what makes MF and JI counselees behave intolerantly is not respecting and respecting others, not introspecting himself, not paying attention to and listening to his teacher, talking to himself and playing in class when lessons begin, and imposing the will of others. After carrying out individual counseling using a behavioristic approach, the counselee's behavior contract technique can eliminate his bad behavior and change it to a better one.

Investigation of Classification Validity in Terms of Various Variables in TIMSS 2019 International Benchmarks of Students

In this study, it was aimed to determine the variables affecting students' proficiency classification by using the data of 4th-grade students participating in the TIMSS 2019 application in the fields of mathematics and science. For this purpose, it was tried to provide evidence for classification validity with the variables of school belonging, bullying, home resources for learning, self-efficacy for computer use, disorderly behavior in Math lessons, like learning Math/Science, confident in Math/Science and instructional clarity in Math/Science lessons. The study was conducted with a correlational design. The sample of the study consisted of 3887 students in both lessons, which remained as a result of the missing data deletion and assignment processes from 4028 students who originally participated in the application. Logistic regression and discriminant analysis were used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was determined that 41.6% for Mathematics and 43% for Science in logistic regression analysis and 42.5% for Mathematics and 45% for Science in discriminant analysis were correctly classified through independent variables.

Student perspectives on the flipped classroom concept in secondary math lessons

The flipped classroom concept is the reversal of the traditional teaching activities so that new content is first worked through by the learners independently and then the joint lesson time is used to practise and consolidate this content. This concept can result in didactic advantages. However, it is assumed that the concept also places increased demands on learners. As part of an intervention study with 452 participants in 15 lower secondary schools in Lower Saxony (Germany), pupils were given a questionnaire including the following items “I like this in the flipped classroom” and “I don’t like this in the flipped classroom”. This article analyses the answers to those questions using a qualitative content analysis. The resulting categories are analysed in more detail in a thematic analysis to identify specific aspects of the flipped classroom that the learners like or dislike. The preparation through videos, self-directed learning and adaptability of the learning speed were named particularly frequently in the positively connoted categories. The negative aspects included comprehension problems, the desire for more explanations from the teachers, time pressure, and time management problems. These results contrast with previous research results on the flipped classroom concept in higher education didactics.

Comparison of the experience of using digital games in mathematics education in Ukraine and Israel

Abstract The study examined the opinion of school students regarding the expediency and possibilities of using digital mathematical games in the process of teaching mathematics, and also carried out a comparative analysis of the results of the research conducted in Ukraine and Israel. The issue of the distribution of digital mathematical games in Ukraine and Israel was studied, and it was found out which digital mathematical games are the most popular in the process of teaching mathematics to students in schools in these countries. It was found that the vast majority of students from these countries played digital mathematical games. In the study of students’ interest in playing digital mathematical games, the questions were whether students played digital mathematical games, whether their mathematics teachers used digital mathematical games in mathematics lessons, whether students would like to use digital mathematical games when learning mathematics at school. Also, most students responded that their teachers used digital math games in math lessons and would like their teachers to continue using them. However, despite a relatively high percentage of students who are interested in using digital math games in math lessons, there are students who consider traditional math lessons to be more appropriate. It was established that there is a statistically significant difference between the results of a survey of schoolchildren in Ukraine and Israel regarding the expediency of using mathematical digital games in teaching mathematics: with a probability of 95% more surveyed schoolchildren in Ukraine (9.6%) are supporters of traditional teaching of mathematics (without the use of digital games), compared to 2.4% of surveyed schoolchildren in Israel. The statistical significance of the differences in the answers of students of the schools of these countries was checked using the ϕ*-Fisher criterion. As a result of the research, it was found that the interest of schoolchildren of both countries in the use of digital mathematical games in the learning process is growing. Almost half of the respondents in these countries expressed the opinion that they would be interested in learning more about digital math games and trying to play them. However, there remain a number of unresolved important issues related to the methodology of this process, including didactic ones.

Effects of physically active maths lessons on children's maths performance and maths-related affective factors: Multi-arm cluster randomized controlled trial.

Physical activity (PA) may benefit academic performance, but it is unclear what kind of classroom-based PA is optimal for learning. We studied the effects of physically active maths lessons on children's maths performance and maths-related effects, and whether gender and previous mathematical or motor skills modify these effects. A total of 22 volunteered teachers and their pupils with signed consent (N = 397, mean age: 9.3 years, 51% females) participated in a 5-month, teacher-led, multi-arm, cluster-randomized controlled trial. The intervention included a PAL group (20 min of physically active learning in each 45-min lesson), a breaks group (two 5-min PA breaks in each 45-min lesson) and a control group (traditional teaching). Maths performance was assessed with a tailored curriculum-based test. Maths-related enjoyment, self-perceptions and anxiety were measured with a self-reported questionnaire. The individual-level intervention effects were tested via covariate-adjusted linear mixed-effect models with school classes serving as random effects. Changes in maths performance or self-perceptions did not differ between the intervention groups. Maths anxiety in learning situations increased in the PAL group (effect .28, 95% CI = .01-.56); there was no change in the other groups. Subgroup analyses suggested that maths anxiety increased in the PAL group among children in the two lowest tertiles of motor skills. It decreased in the highest tertile. Enjoyment decreased in the breaks group among pupils in the lowest motor skill tertile. Physically active maths lessons did not affect maths performance or self-perceptions but had divergent effects on maths anxiety and enjoyment, depending on motor skills.

This article discusses some issues of designing mathematics lessons at school. Good lesson planning by the teacher helps the student learn the course material and develop knowledge, skills and abilities in this area. The purpose of designing a mathematics lesson is to create optimal conditions for students to effectively and usefully study mathematics, retain it in memory, use it in practice and further develop it. Project activity allows you to determine the goals and objectives of a lesson in mathematics, select the necessary methods and forms of organizing educational work, plan time and educational resources to achieve given directions. A math lesson is one of the main links in the educational process, so it is important to be able to organize it correctly.

Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Math Card (Kartu Matematika) Dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Materi Eksponen, SPLDV, Aritmatika

Math Card is a card-based board game that contains questions for mathematics learning media. The purpose of the Math Card is to make it easier and more interesting for students in math lessons to make it more fun. This research uses the ADDIE method, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. At the analysis stage, analysis is carried out related to material needs by following per under the syllabus/curriculum and design needs to get design results that attract the attention of students. At the design stage, the design is carried out according to the needs of the Math Card, namely by designing cards, packaging, guidebooks, and game boards. The development stage is to develop the results of the material and design, namely compiling questions according to the syllabus and printing products. The implementation stage is to conduct trials for grade 10 SMK students in the classroom. The last is the evaluation stage, namely by improving and perfecting the Math Card learning method to be more effective and efficient.

Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Berbasis Video terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas IV pada Mata Pelajaran Matematika di SDN Undaan Kidul 3 Demak

Mathematics is a science that is obtained through thinking and reasoning. However, Very often, elementary school students have difficulty understanding math lessons. Thus, Teachers must use creativity and imagination while using a range of instructional resources and media. Video learning is one example. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the effects of using video-based learning resources on the mathematical learning outcomes of students at SDN Undaan Kidul 3 Demak. Quantitative Pre-Experimental was used with the design of one pre-test and post-test group, and was carried out on grade IV students at SDN Undaan Kidul 3 Demak, with a sample consisting of 15 students, which included 5 female students and 10 male students. The data instruments used include tests (pretest and postest), questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study show that the use of video-based learning media improves students' learning ability, this is characterized by an increase in pretest and posttest to a higher level from the average score of 66 to 76.67. Learners' Spontaneous Gesture Before a Math Lesson Predicts the Efficacy of Seeing Versus Doing Gesture During the Lesson.

Gestures-hand movements that accompany speech and express ideas-can help children learn how to solve problems, flexibly generalize learning to novel problem-solving contexts, and retain what they have learned. But does it matter who is doing the gesturing? We know that producing gesture leads to better comprehension of a message than watching someone else produce gesture. But we do not know how producing versus observing gesture impacts deeper learning outcomes such as generalization and retention across time. Moreover, not all children benefit equally from gesture instruction, suggesting that there are individual differences that may play a role in who learns from gesture. Here, we consider two factors that might impact whether gesture leads to learning, generalization, and retention after mathematical instruction: (1) whether children see gesture or do gesture and (2) whether a child spontaneously gestures before instruction when explaining their problem-solving reasoning. For children who spontaneously gestured before instruction, both doing and seeing gesture led to better generalization and retention of the knowledge gained than a comparison manipulative action. For children who did not spontaneously gesture before instruction, doing gesture was less effective than the comparison action for learning, generalization, and retention. Importantly, this learning deficit was specific to gesture, as these children did benefit from doing the comparison manipulative action. Our findings are the first evidence that a child's use of a particular representational format for communication (gesture) directly predicts that child's propensity to learn from using the same representational format.

Reform-based Mathematics Teaching Practices for Teacher Candidates’ Professional Development

K-6 teacher candidates in the USA are required to meet three mathematics criteria, (1) attainment of conceptual understanding, (2) correctness of procedure fluency and (3) an understanding of mathematics reasonings and problems-solving from Educative Teacher Performance Assessment [edTPA], which is the most popular assessment for initial certification/licensure teacher candidates in the U.S.A. Research demonstrated that teacher candidates’ can be enhanced to better prepare for reform-based mathematics teaching. The purpose for designing this study was to examine how K-6 teacher candidates’ professional development transferred to reform-based mathematics teaching that align with three edTPA criteria. The study implemented the mixed methods with 15 K-6 teacher candidates participating in both quantitative and qualitative research activities. Data were collected from participants’ final assessment portfolios to evaluate candidates’ teaching effectiveness, The study also conducted semi-structured verbal interviews with candidates’ math lesson design, reformed-based mathematics teaching, and the role of self-efficacy in doing reform-based teaching. Results indicated that candidates face multiple challenges in transferring from skill-repeated (traditional) math teaching to reasonings-developed (reform-based) math pedagogy. Teacher candidates agreed that from traditional to reform-based mathematics teaching benefits their teaching effectiveness. Methods for facilitating reform-based teaching in mathematics via professional development is discussed.

Gender and circadian preferences influence emotions and motivation in secondary mathematics classrooms

ABSTRACT Many studies have reported poor school achievement in evening persons and general circadian fluctuations in cognition. The aim of this study was to analyze circadian fluctuations in a cross-sectional design and examine the effects of chronotype on situational emotions and intrinsic motivation. A cross-sectional survey study was conducted in three Turkish secondary schools with a total sample of 599 students (283 females and 316 males). Data were collected at the end of specific math lessons of the same grade level and content, using a form combining three scales. We found no gender-related differences in intrinsic motivation, while there were some differences in situational motivation. In math classes, female students exhibited higher level of interest, while boys scored higher on boredom. In addition, students who scored high on morning affect reported higher levels of interest, well-being, and less boredom. Students with higher stability (and lower fluctuations in mood and cognition during the day) reported a higher degree of enjoyment, perceived competence, perceived choice, and less pressure/tension in their math lessons. A positive association was observed between distinctness, interest, and well-being, while negative correlations existed between distinctness and boredom. This suggests that students with higher diurnal stability reported a higher level of interest, well-being, and a lower level of boredom. Additionally, the results of the analyses showed that morningness, distinctness, and eveningness were significant predictors of intrinsic motivation. Conversely, gender, time of application, morningness, and distinctness emerged as predictors for situational emotions in mathematics classes.

Systematic Literatur Review : Pengaruh Penggunaan Aplikasi Geometer’s Sketchpad Pada Pembelajaran Matematika SMP

. Geometer's Sketchpad is a maths lesson programme that offers educational material on a variety of subjects, including geometry, algebra, calculus, and other areas of mathematics. The form of research is Systematic Literature Review. Data collection in this method by searching for various journals from national and international journals on Google Scholar and Publish or Perish around 6 journals from 2019 to 2023. Through the results of previous studies in the charts, it should be deducted that the Geometr's Sketchpad application in learning mathematics is very influential because by using Geometr's Sketchpad application is able to provide an increase in students' conceptual understanding ability and is able to increase student activeness.

FORMATION OF LOGICAL UNIVERSAL ACTIONS AMONG YOUNGER STUDENTS IN MATHEMATICS LESSONS

The state educational standard of primary general education is based on the concept of the formation of universal educational activities. Logical actions belong to one of the types of universal learning activities. Their formation is an important component of the work of primary school teachers, since logical operations contribute to the development of an active cognitive position in younger schoolchildren. People with logical thinking are able to solve the problems that arise in front of them. In elementary school, the subject of mathematics has the greatest opportunity for the formation of logical actions. In order for this process to be successful, teachers must comply with a number of conditions when preparing and conducting math lessons. In the lessons, it is important to organize "logical five minutes", select variable tasks and ensure a change of student activities. It is important to take into account the age characteristics of children, all tasks should be selected in accordance with the capabilities of younger students. Such work increases the effectiveness of the educational process. Students become active and interested in acquiring new knowledge that they can apply both in educational activities and in real life. This is the universality of logical actions. This article describes in detail the features of the work on the formation of logical actions in younger schoolchildren in mathematics lessons.

The influence of teachers’ statistics knowledge on the academic performance of high school students in math lessons

Statistics and probability is one branch of mathematics with numerous conceivable outcomes and problem-solving circumstances that require a basic problem-solving aptitude. The purpose of this study is to determine the need for high school mathematics teachers to teach statistics and probability, which would serve as a basis for improving the level of teaching statistics and mathematics in general. A descriptive research method was applied in this study, and a two-part survey was employed as the primary method of data collection. A total of 34 secondary school mathematics teachers from 23 private and public secondary schools in Kazakhstan acted as respondents to answer a specially designed questionnaire. The mean value, percentage of frequency, standard deviations, correlation, regression, percentage of correct answers and average percentage scores were used. Based on the responses, the respondents have a low level of knowledge regarding the content of statistics, but their students have satisfactory results in statistics and mathematics. The results of this study will give scientists an idea of how to improve the level of training of mathematics teachers. In addition, since higher educational institutions are engaged in the training of mathematics teachers, they need to think about the methodology of teaching statistics, as well as teacher training institutes, to adapt courses and seminars for teachers.

Using Mixed Methods to Evaluate Modified Schema-Based Instruction in General Education Classrooms

In this convergent mixed methods design study, single-subject and qualitative data were collected concurrently to provide an in-depth picture of the impact of a modified schema-based instructional intervention. The intervention was delivered using instructional trials embedded across general education math lessons and a modified concrete-semi-concrete-abstract instructional sequence. This study investigated the impact of the intervention on the word-problem-solving, strategy use, and concept acquisition of three students with extensive support needs. The paraprofessional-delivered intervention was implemented in elementary general education mathematics classrooms using embedded instruction and focused on teaching students to solve addition and subtraction word-problems. Single-subject data indicated that all three students learned to solve word-problems given concrete materials but needed more time to master the use of semi concrete supports. Qualitative data indicated that students used taught and untaught strategies to solve word-problems, and mastered addition word-problems before subtraction when they were taught simultaneously. Data were integrated in narrative format to explore how strategy use and concept acquisition related to student word-problem-solving performance. Limitations and implications for research are discussed.

Process of Designing Lesson Plan in Maths Subject According to STEAM Education Orientation

Today, STEAM education is a trend and is strongly deployed by many countries around the world, especially developed industrial countries. STEAM education is one of the Viet Nam general education program orientations after 2018. Vietnam's implementation of STEM education in K12 schools has been shown through the orientations in the overall general education curriculum. This article presents some basic theoretical knowledge about STEAm education such as concepts, characteristics, and forms of organizing STEM education in Vietnam's new general education program. From there, focus on researching and proposing the process of designing Math lessons according to STEM education orientation for primary school students.

Are Lesson Plans Created by ChatGPT More Effective? An Experimental Study

In this research, we aimed to determine whether students' math achievements improved using ChatGPT, one of the chatbot tools, to prepare lesson plans in primary school math courses. The research was conducted with a pretest-posttest control group experimental design. The study comprises 39 third-grade students (experimental group = 24, control group = 15). The implementation process lasted five weeks and 25 lesson hours. In the experimental group, lessons were taught according to plans prepared using ChatGPT, while in the control group, existing lesson plans were used. Students' academic achievement was measured with a multiple-choice achievement test of 25 questions with two separate questions for each learning objective. According to the results, students' academic achievement increased significantly (d = 1.268) in math lessons taught according to lesson plans prepared using the ChatGPT. Although there was a difference between the post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group in favor of the experimental group, it was determined that this difference was not significant. These results show that teaching primary school math according to lesson plans prepared using ChatGPT is effective in academic achievement. Teachers should consider ChatGPT and their plans, combining them and benefiting from both in the implementation process.

EKSPLORASI ETNOMATEMATIKA DALAM AL-QUR’AN SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR

Mathematics is one of the subject areas taught from elementary school to high school and even to universities. Mathematics is also one of the subjects that is considered difficult by many students, but mathematics is very important in improving human thinking and this science also plays a very important role in everyday life. Through this ethnomathematics exploration, students will find it easier and more enjoyable to learn mathematics from the Qur’an. Mathematics has a close relationship with the Qur’an without us realizing it, such as odd numbers, even numbers, and prime numbers listed in surah Al-kahf verse 22, verse 25, Al-ankabut verse 14, Al-baqarah verse 261, and annisa’ verse 11-12. The purpose of this research is to describe and elaborate mathematics learning in number theory contained in the Qur’an. The method in this research is using qualitative method which is done by observation and literature study. From this research, it is known that there is a relationship between the words of God contained in the Qur’an and the concept of mathematics, and it is proven that always math lessons can solve all problems in Islam. This research is expected to facilitate the learning of mathematics and can show that there is a connection with the Qur’an. Due to the lack of interest in mathematics which makes elementary school achievement low in Indonesia, for this reason the author tries to make an Android-based 3D Educational Game “Endless Runner” using the Unity3D application with the C # language program and researched using GDLC for learning mathematics cause the genre of this game is suitable for children, where there is no violence, pornography or sara in the Game “Endless Runner”.
