Students’ English Vocabulary through “Kate Kulp” Tiktok Videos

This study investigates the students’ English vocabulary through “Kate Kulp” TikTok videos at Eighth Grade of MTs Nur El Falah Kubang. This research was conducted based on the statement of the problem: (1) How is the students’ vocabulary mastery of eighth-grade MTs Nur El Falah Kubang? (2) How is the effect of “Kate Kulp” TikTok videos on students’ English vocabulary mastery? This study used a quasi-experimental method with two classes: class VIII B as the experimental class and class VIII A as the control class. After collecting the data, the researchers analyzed the data using the t-test. Based on the results, the average pre-test in the experimental class is 42 and the average post-test in the experimental class is 88.33. Meanwhile, the average pre-test in the control class is 44.33 and the average post-test value in the control class is 79. According to the result of the data, the value of tobservation (3,18) > ttable (1,67) in 5%, and tobservation (3,18) > ttable (2,39) in 1%. So, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means “Kate Kulp” TikTok videos are effective towards students’ English vocabulary mastery.

Mastering English Vocabulary through Toontastics Application

Teaching English in this sophisticated era requires teachers' effort and creativity to attract students' attention and motivation to learn. This pre-experimental study aims to determine the impact of the Toontastics Application on students' English vocabulary mastery and to know student attitudes toward the use of the Toontastics. Pre-post tests are employed to get data about the effect of the application on students' English vocabulary mastery. At the same time, a questionnaire is distributed to get data about student's attitudes toward using the application. Twenty-eight students were purposively chosen as the sample and then treated to learn English vocabulary using Toontastics. According to the study, The Toontastics Application impacts student's mastery of English vocabulary. The fact that their pre-test score of 51.2 changed to 62.9 on their post-test serves as evidence. This finding is strengthened by the survey results, which show that the students' responses fell into the "strongly interested." Their intense interest may influence students' increased English vocabulary proficiency in the Toontastics Application. In other words, the Toontastics Application affects students' attitudes and ability to grasp English vocabulary.

Improving Student’s English Vocabulary Mastery Using The Sing and Play Method in Class 4 MIS Baiturrahman Basilam BL 2022/2023 Academic Year

This study was structured with the aim of increasing students' vocabulary mastery, increasing motivation and learning outcomes of English for 4th grade students of MIS Baiturrahman Basilam BL 2022/2023 Academic Year using the Sing and Play method. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). In this study, researchers applied research in three cycles. Researchers used two data collection techniques, namely: observation and tests. Data is classified in the form of qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were obtained from observations while quantitative data were obtained from student learning outcomes. The subjects of this study were 4th grade students at MIS Baiturrahman Elementary School, totaling 16 students. Data were analyzed and presented in tabular form. These results also simultaneously show that the use of the Sing and Play method can improve English vocabulary mastery and learning activity for 4th grade students at MIS Baiturrahman Elementary School.

Improving The Students’ Vocabulary Mastery By Using Fly Swatter Game At The Tenth Grade Of Sma Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi In 2022/2023

In learning English, the first thing that must be learned is vocabulary. This means that learning vocabulary is very important, especially for students in high school. Based on the researcher observations at the tenth grade, the technique used in learning is monotonous which makes students tend to get bored so that student participation in class is lacking. The vocabulary problem must be solved, because it can make it difficult for students to continue to the next level or class. Also students may have low motivation in learning English because they feel English is difficult. The objectives of the researcher is to improve students vocabulary mastery by using Fly Swatter Game. Based on the identification of the problems above, the researcher wants to overcome the problems of the students in English vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher use Classroom Action Research as a research design that was held in two cycles. The subject of the research was the students of X-IPS 1 which consist of 23 students. In this research, the instrument are evaluation sheet and observation sheet. From the result of each cycle, it shown that; in Cycle I, there was not students’ value which could be classified in “good level”, there were 3 students’ value (13,04%) in “good level”, there were 3 students’(13,04%) in “enough level”, there were 7 students’ value (30,43%)in “less level”, there was 10 students’ value (43,47%) in “fail level”. The average of the students’ value was 46,3. It showed that Cycle I was not successful, so this research has continued to the next cycle after revising the plan based on the weaknesses in cycle I. The result of Cycle II research showed that there was not students’ (0%) values classified in the “enough“, “less” and “fail level.” There were 8 students’ values (34,77%) in the “good level”, and 15 students’ values (65,21%) in the “very good level”. The average value of the students’ was 86,5. Based on the result above the researcher concludes that Fly Swatter Game could be done in teaching vocabulary and could improve the students’ ability in mastering vocabulary.

Nature-Based Learning in Improving Student Learning Achievement: A Systematic Literature Review

This study aims to conduct a literature study on nature-based learning for English subjects. The research method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). In this study data collection was carried out by reviewing books, articles and journals. Based on this research it was found that nature-based learning can make students free to explore and interact directly with the environment. This makes students not only accept but become actors in the learning process. The results of the study also show that the use of nature- and environment-based learning models has proven effective in increasing English vocabularies and improving language skills, namely listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The results of the study show that the use of nature and environment-based learning is proven to be able to improve the results of mastery of English vocabulary well and is proven by the increase in the results of students' learning achievement.

Investigating English Vocabulary Mastery of Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through Using Animated Cartoons

Abstract. Every student has a different ability to learn vocabulary. There are students with good ability to learn new vocabulary, but on the other side, there are also students with low ability to learn. Students who have a low ability to learn are usually called students with special education needs. They need extra consideration for their education. An animated cartoon is suggested to be one of the audiovisual media that provide both sounds and moves. This research was conducted to know the effect of using animated cartoons on the vocabulary mastery of students with special educational needs (SEN). The research was using a pre-experimental research design and the type of data was numeric data from students' tests. This research was conducted in one of the SEN schools in Madiun Regency involving 15 students with mental retardation. The data were collected by exhibiting a vocabulary mastery test. The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test with the level of significance at.05. The result shows the significant value is 0.002. This value is lower than the α = 0.05, so Ha is accepted, and H0 is rejected. It can be said that there is a significant effect of animated cartoons on students' vocabulary. It implies that the animated cartoon can help students with special education needs especially mental retardation to learn vocabulary. THE EFFECT OF BALL GAME ON THE STUDENTS' ENGLISH VOCABULARY MASTERY AT SECOND GRADE OF SMPN 7 KERINCI

This research aimed to see the effect of Ball Game on students' English vocabulary mastery. Therefore, the researcher used a quantitative method with an experimental research design to obtain the research objectives. There were 2 classes that participated in this research. It consisted of VIII D as control class VIII B as the experiment class. each class consisted of 26 students, so the sample total are 52 students. to collect the data, 25 multiple questions were used to test the students. the finding showed Ball game significantly affects students’ English vocabulary at SMPN 7 Kerinci. It was proved by the vocabulary test value of the post-test between the classes. The post-test result showed the differences in the result achieved by the tough control class without using Ball game with the experimental class which was tough by using Ball game. The means score becomes one of proof of this statement. Based on the mean score, it was found that the control class have 60.77 and the standard deviation was 10.24. Meanwhile, the experimental class was 64.61 and the standard deviation was 12.96. besides The result of t-test showed that tobs= 1,26 > ttable= 1,93. The researcher proposed several recommendations to gain better improvements.

The Effect of Board Game on Students’ Vocabulary and Grammar Mastery in Senior High School

This research was conducted based on some problems in learning English especially in vocabulary and grammar. It was also aimed to find out students’ vocabulary and grammar who are taught by using Board GameTechnique and students’ vocabulary and grammar who are taught without using Board Games and find out whether there was any significant effect of using Board Game on the tenth-grade students’ ability in vocabulary and grammar at SMA Kristen Immanuel. In this quasi-experimental design research, the researcher took two of 2 classes as the sample, the experimental class with 20 students in it, and the control class with 20 students as well. The research method was pre-test and post-test of the experimental research. The data collection technique was pre-test and post-test score result. The data were analyzed by using compare means paired sample T-test by comparing the result of pre-test and post-test design, and t-test to know the significant effect in students’ English vocabulary mastery after using Board Game. The result showed there was a significant different between pretest and post test mean. Ho was rejected because significance level was < 0.05. Therefore, there was a significant effect of using board game towards students’ vocabulary mastery of the research. The research of data analysis showed that there was a positive effect of using Board Games on students’ vocabulary and grammar. In which in vocabulary, the t-obtained had a higher value than the t-table either at 5% or 1% significance levels (1,68595 < 4,174> 2,42857). Therefore, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted; or there is a significant difference in using Board Games on student’s vocabulary and grammar ability of tenth grade students. The result of grammar, the condition of the experimental class was getting better. The students were more active in English learning process. In summing up it may be stated that using Board Game can effect the students‟ grammar mastery and students learning activities at the tenth grader of SMA Kristen Immanuel Medan.

Improving Students’ Vocabulary Achievement Through PVN (Personal Vocabulary Note)

The lack of English vocabulary mastery becomes a problem faced by the students of the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Timur. By the vocabulary problems faced by the students, they find it difficult to learn English. This research aimed to solve the vocabulary problems faced by the students. To solve the problems, the researcher chose a learning technique called PVN (Personal Vocabulary Note). It is a technique that encourage the students to write in their native language when they did not know how to say it in English. The researcher chose Classroom Action Research (CAR) by conducting two cycles and three meetings of each cycle. The data were collected from 21 students consisted of 10 female and 11 male students of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Hilir. In collecting the data, the researcher used vocabulary test, observation checklist and field notes. The data were analyzed by using triangulation. Based on the findings of the investigation done in this action research, the use of PVN could help the students memorized the vocabulary easily, motivated students and make them more interested in learning English. This can be seen from the improvements after each cycles. It can be concluded based on the result of the study that PVN better improved the students’ ability in vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mempawah Timur in Academic Year 2019/2020. Development of Flashcard Media to Teach Students' Vocabulary Mastery in Reading Skill at Tahfidzul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School Annur Alhidayah

This study aims to develop Flashcard learning media in learning English vocabulary mastery at the Tahfidzul Qur'an Annur Alhidayah Islamic Boarding School. The research method used is research and development with the ADDIE approach (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis is carried out using qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The result of this study is a revised Flashcard media based on advice from media experts. The revision of the Flashcard media includes the addition of adjectives and verbs as new forms and types of words. Product trials were carried out in English course classes at the Tahfidzul Qur'an Annur Alhidayah Islamic Boarding School. The results of the trial showed that the use of Flashcard media can improve students' vocabulary mastery. The study also compared with previous studies that used vocabulary learning strategies without expert assistance. In conclusion, the development of this Flashcard media can be an effective alternative in learning English vocabulary mastery at the Tahfidzul Qur'an Annur Alhidayah Islamic Boarding School.

Efektifitas Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Flashcard dalam Meningkatkan Kosakata Bahasa Inggris Siswa Kelas 2 SDN Karawaci 5

English is referred to as the second language after Indonesian, because English is the language of instruction used internationally. therefore English is very necessary for students to equip them in facing global challenges and as a supporting tool in their lives. However, there are still many students who have difficulty mastering and understanding English vocabulary in supporting learning activities. Because there is still a lack of use of learning media in the process of learning activities, especially in learning vocabulary in English. This has an impact on the lack of understanding and mastery of vocabulary because learning takes place without any supporting media.One of the learning media that can be used in the effectiveness of learning English vocabulary is with Flash Card learning media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using flashcard learning media to improve English vocabulary mastery in class 2 of SDN Karawaci 5. The research method used was classroom action research (PTK) in which there were several stages as follows: planning ), implementation of the action (acting), observation (observation), and reflection (reflecting). And the data collection techniques used in this study consist of: tests, interviews, and observations. So the results obtained from this research in the first meeting had not achieved maximum results, at the first meeting it was seen that students were unable to pronounce vocabulary or understand vocabulary in English and even at this time students still looked confused in using Flash card learning media . And in the first cycle students get an average score of 68 with a learning completeness percentage of around 72%. By looking at the predetermined minimum completeness criteria (KKM) at SD Negeri Karawaci 5, namely 75, there were 13 people who reached the completion criteria. Which means only 72% while according to KTSP a lesson is said to be complete if the completeness score obtained by students is approximately 75% of the number of students. And in the second cycle there was an increase with an average value of 80, with learning completeness around 100%.

Revealing the Relationship Between Vocabulary Mastery and Listening Skills

The relationship between vocabulary mastery and English listening skills at a given level—in this case, at the basic level—is examined in further detail, it will become more exciting and remarkable. This study attempts to demonstrate the connection between vocabulary knowledge and English listening skills in order to comprehend the relationship between the two on a basic level. This study used a correlational research methodology. This research technique looked at the relationship between vocabulary mastery and students' basic listening skills in English. The summary of the research findings above makes it evident that there is a weak but favourable correlation between basic vocabulary mastery and basic level listening skills. 0.0339 is the correlation coefficient. This suggests that other factors have a greater impact than basic vocabulary proficiency, which only has a 3.39% effect on the worth of basic listening skills. Based on the results of the ANOVA study, it is then found that the significance value of F is higher than the alpha value. As a result, there is less of a connection between basic vocabulary knowledge and basic listening skills. Additionally, by rejecting H0 and accepting H1, this study establishes a nonlinear regression line for the relationship between variables X and Y.

Improving English Vocabulary Mastery by Using the Alphabet Game for Class VIII at Junior High School Metro TMI RQ Metro

The students was the lack of enthusiasm for English learning. Students sometimes get bored in learning process. The purpose of this research was to improve how to get well students at SMP TMI RQ Metro in acquire English vocabulary material for class VIII A. The researchers used classroom action research, either in Cycle I and Cycle II. Data was collected through observation, interviews, tests and documentation. The result showed that 9 out of 20 students passed with a percentage of 45% in the observation cycle I. 11 students with a completeness level of 55% were students who did not complete. with an average value of 70.75. Hence, the classical completeness of the first cycle is 45%. It was observed that 80% of 20 students, 16 of which completed it during the second cycle. Four students with a 20% completion rate did not complete the course. with an average of 80 points. As a result, a typical cycle II is 80% complete. In other words, the results of the second cycle of observations succeeded in obtaining the KKM score that had been determined by the school and the completeness of the learning objectives for students.Keywords: Student Learning Outcomes, Vocabulary Material, Alphabet Games

STUDENTS’ ENGLISH VOCABULARY MASTERY USING INTERACTIVE POWER POINT

This mini research was conducted with the objective to prove the effect of using interactive PowerPoint on students’ English vocabulary mastery at junior high school. Experimental research design was applied as the research method. The total population was 80 students of the eighth grade students. Cluster random sampling was applied to take out the sample. 80 students were taken as the sample from. The classes were determined as experimental group and control group. Each class consisted of 40 students. A set of test consisted of 35 multiple choice test was administered as research instrument. T-test was applied to analyze the data obtained. The data analysis resulted that t-test value was higher than t-table. This proved that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Thus, it was concluded that interactive PowerPoint gave effect on students’ English vocabulary mastery.

Effectiveness of Using Educandy in ELT to Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery

This study aimed to find out the Effectiveness of using Educandy in improving English vocabulary mastery of seventh grade students at MTs. Safinatul Huda 02 Karimunjawa. This emphasized on reinforce students vocabulary in learning process. This study used an Experimental method, with a treatments. The data was obtained by means of multiple choice and Essay questions. Evidenced by obtaining a Normality test with a sig. 0.200 is greater than 0.05 which means the research data is normally distributed. The results of calculation using SPSS 23. In the equal variances assumed section, the value of sig. 2-tailed was 0.000 < 0.05. this shows that there is a significant difference in the mean scores of students in the experimental class and the control class. Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Then the t-observe is higher than the t table, which is 8.025 > 2.000 with a significance level of 5%. Based on the analysis of the results, the researcher concluded that the use of Educandy can improve students vocabulary mastery.

INCREASING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH “MOBILE LEGENDS” GAME ONLINE APPLICATION AT SMA NEGERI 4 MAKASSAR

The objective of the research was to know the students' vocabulary mastery through Mobile Legends game online application and to find out the affect of Mobile Legends Game online application on students' vocabulary mastery. This research uses the pre-experimental research method. The population of this research were the students of the second-grade of SMA Negeri 4 Makassar in 2022/2023 academic year, with sample were 30 students. The researcher collected the data by giving pre-test and post-test. The data of this research was analyzed by SPSS 24 Version. Based on the results of data analysis, the researcher concluded that the use of Mobile Legends Game online application can increase students' vocabulary mastery, it's proved by the mean score of the students in pretest and post-test. The result of the research shows that Mobile Legends Game online application was significantly increased students' vocabulary mastery. The mean score in pre-test was 52.83, while in post-test was 81.83. It indicated that the one hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It means that Mobile Legends Game online application could increase the students' vocabulary mastery in learning English at SMA Negeri 4 Makassar. The Effect of Duolingo Online Application on Students’ English Vocabulary Mastery of VII Grade Class at SMP Al Razi Sinar Harapan

The aim of this study was to determine the use of the Duolingo application to increase students' English vocabulary. In developing this research, the researcher implemented Duolingo through the discussion method so that it was chosen in this study to solve the problem. the method used in this research was quantitative data. The subjects of this study were 28 students of class VII SMP Al Razi Sinar Harapan with the research sample being class VII-2 as the experimental class and class VII-4 as the control class. The research instrument uses multiple choice. The results of the data show that there is a development of students' English vocabulary. This can be seen from the pre-test average for the experimental class was 53.85 and for the control class was 53.5 and the post-test average for the experimental class was 76.71 and for the control class was 67.35. From these data it can be seen that students' English vocabulary increased by using the Duolingo application as a learning medium. The research results found in this study observed t-observed 3.29 and t-table 2.05, so it can be concluded that there are differences in students' vocabulary when using the Duolingo application and without the Duolingo application. In addition, students also look active and enthusiastic about using Duolingo as a learning medium.

Upaya Meningkatkan Vocabulary Mastery dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris Melalui Metode Running Dictation Game

The objective of this study is to assess the improvement of English vocabulary mastery through the implementation of the running dictation game method among fifth-grade students at SDN 005 Langgini. This research adopts a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, conducted in two cycles with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection methods included observation, documentation, and question-and-answer sessions. The participants of the study were 31 fifth-grade students at SDN 005 Langgini. The data analysis techniques employed were descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative. The findings of the study reveal that the use of the running dictation game method significantly improved English vocabulary mastery among the fifth-grade students in class V C at SDN 005 Langgini. This improvement is evident in the increase in average student scores and the overall enhancement of vocabulary mastery. In the pre-cycle, the classical completeness rate was 20.42%, classified as Not Developing. The completeness rate improved to 52.63% in Cycle I, meeting the criterion of Developing as Expected. As the results from Cycle I did not meet the established success criteria, the study proceeded to Cycle II. In Cycle II, student completeness increased to 81.71%, meeting the criterion of Developing Very Well. In both written and oral tests, students demonstrated strong proficiency in mastering English vocabulary, including their ability to write, pronounce, and translate vocabulary accurately.

Wordwall on Mastery of Vocabulary in English Learning

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of wordwalls on vocabulary mastery in learning English. The research method used is quantitative with a one-shot case study, namely grade 8 junior high school. Data was collected through a questionnaire with a Likert Scale. Data analysis techniques use techniques to determine effectiveness and percentages. This study concluded that on the pronunciation indicator, as many as ten students stated that they strongly agreed, and only 1 student stated that they did not agree with a percentage of 74.3%. Furthermore, in the spelling indicator, as many as seven students stated that they strongly agreed, and 2 students stated that they did not agree with a percentage of 72.1%. Furthermore, the indicator of meaning, as many as 8 students stated that they strongly agreed and 2 students stated that they did not agree with a percentage of 74.3%. Thus, an effective wordwall improves vocabulary mastery by 73.5% or is effective in learning English.

Developing English Vocabulary Mastery of Students at SMPIT Ibnu Sina Makassar through Word Card Games

This study is to describe two main points, namely (1) the development of English vocabulary mastery of 7th-grade students of SMPIT Ibnu Sina, Makassar using word card games, and (2) the aspects of vocabulary that hinder their English vocabulary development. Pre-experimental research method with pre and post-test design was used to quantitatively describe the impact of the treatment given through the use of word card games in developing students' vocabulary mastery comprising three aspects, namely (1)vocabulary forms in spelling and pronunciation, (2) denotative meaning of vocabulary, and (3) vocabulary usage focusing on the use of Present and Past Tense sentence patterns both in oral and written forms and the hindering aspects of their vocabulary mastery development which are then described qualitatively. The grade 7 students of SMPIT Ibnu Sina, Makassar totalling 28 students were the population of this study using the census sampling technique. To collect data, a vocabulary test was administered in three forms of questions, namely (1) spelling and pronunciation, (2) matching for vocabulary meaning, and (3) multiple choice and making simple sentences. The results showed that (1) the word cards could develop the English vocabulary mastery of students in terms of vocabulary form, vocabulary meaning, and vocabulary use empirically indicated by the mean score of pre-tests as 58.13 taken into an average category and post-tests is 79.72 classified into a good category and (2) the aspect that hinders students' vocabulary mastery is pronunciation and sentence construction. These findings are simply considered that word card games can be implemented to bridge the development of students’ vocabulary mastery coming along with teaching English structures.
