Directiоns fоr the Develоpment of Passenger Transpоrtatiоn Activities in Railway Transpоrt

This article studied the main directiоns determining the develоpment оf the ecоnоmic fоundatiоns оf passenger transpоrtatiоn оn railway transpоrt, the main tasks оf the ecоnоmic develоpment оf passenger transpоrtatiоn activities оn railway transpоrt, trends in railway transpоrt perfоrmance in Uzbekistan, the mоst impоrtant cоnditiоns оf the structural refоrm оf railway transpоrt. Plans fоr railway transpоrt were оutlined by the results, at the same time, the principles оf strategic integratiоn were suggested. Uzbekistan's railway system is essential fоr enhancing cоnnectivity and suppоrting ecоnоmic grоwth, yet it faces significant challenges such as оutdated infrastructure and declining passenger satisfactiоn. This study investigates strategic directiоns fоr imprоving passenger transpоrtatiоn in Uzbekistan’s railway sectоr. Emplоying a mixed-methоds apprоach, data were cоllected frоm Uzbekistan Railways regarding ridership and service perfоrmance frоm 2015 tо 2023, supplemented by qualitative interviews with railway оfficials, transpоrt experts, and passengers. Results indicated that 70% оf passengers expressed dissatisfactiоn due tо delays and lack оf amenities, while оver 65% оf stakehоlders identified an urgent need fоr infrastructure mоdernizatiоn. Seventy–five percent оf The Market experts stressed the need tо ensure electrical practices and make energy-efficient rоlling stоck in line with internatiоnal envirоnment standards. These suggest that imprоvements in service quality, the develоpment оf up-tо-date infrastructure and the spread оf sustainability values was necessary fоr passenger rail transpоrt renewal with Uzbekistan.

The international expansion of small venture companies is regarded as a crucial strategy for the survival and growth of these firms, particularly as it serves as a motivation for companies with limited resources and capabilities to enter foreign markets. In light of the increasing emphasis on the significance of internationalization for small venture companies within the current business environment, this study aims to identify the key factors influencing the intention to pursue international expansion among domestic small venture companiess. To this end, a research model was established, wherein internal organizational capabilities and external environmental dynamism were treated as independent variables, while international network orientation was considered a moderating variable. A survey was conducted with a total of 264 executives and managerial personnel (CEOs, executives, and department heads) from small venture companies to test the proposed hypotheses. The study first examined the causal relationship between internal organizational capabilities and external environmental dynamism (including market dynamism and technological dynamism) on the intention to engage in international expansion. Secondly, it assessed the moderating effect of international network orientation on the relationship between internal organizational capabilities, external environmental dynamism, and the intention to expand internationally. The findings of this research are as follows: First, internal organizational capabilities (including CEO global orientation, technological capabilities, market information utilization, and investment attraction capabilities) and market dynamism positively influence the intention to pursue international expansion, while technological dynamism was found to have a negative impact. Second, the study demonstrated the importance of international network orientation in moderating the relationship between internal organizational capabilities and the intention to expand internationally, thereby contributing new insights to the existing literature. Based on the results of this study, several implications for enhancing international expansion are proposed. First, the global orientation of the CEO emerges as the most critical factor in the decision-making process for international expansion, highlighting the need for dedicated programs to support CEOs in this endeavor. Second, small venture companies should focus on strengthening their internal organizational capabilities—specifically in terms of human resources, technology, market knowledge, and investment capabilities—while also developing strategies to expand their external networks for successful internationalization. Finally, it is essential for relevant institutions to collaborate in establishing training programs for market experts that are suitable for a knowledge-based society, thereby facilitating the international expansion of small venture companies.

Retail category management under shelf-space dependent demand: The effectiveness of category captainship

Category captainship is a retail category management practice where the retailer delegates certain category decisions to a vendor, known as the category captain, to leverage the vendor’s market expertise and reduce the retailer’s workload in managing the category. We examine the effectiveness of category captainship compared to traditional retailer category management, focusing on scenarios where shelf space capacity decisions are delegated to the category captain, and demand is dependent on shelf space capacity. Our study considers two competing manufacturers, each selling a substitutable product through a common retailer. We find that when the retailer’s profit-sharing ratio is sufficiently but not excessively high, category captainship can enhance profits for both the retailer and the captain manufacturer. These profit improvements are more pronounced at intermediate values of shelf space elasticity of demand. Although the non-captain manufacturer may suffer from competitive exclusion under certain conditions, “win-win-win” outcomes in profits and sales occur when the products are highly differentiated by price or shelf-space elasticity. The retailer benefits from increasing demand elasticity of shelf space and prefers to designate the manufacturer with the higher elasticity as the category captain. When the profit-sharing ratio is determined through a retailer-led bargaining framework, the retailer benefits most by negotiating sequentially with the manufacturers, inducing the manufacturer with lower bargaining power to take on the category captain role. Our findings provide valuable insights into developing category management strategies under shelf-space elastic demand.

Evaluating intellectual capital within developmental entrepreneurial environments: conceptualising the sequential role of education and ecosystems

PurposeThis paper evaluates intellectual capital (IC) within entrepreneurial environments, towards conceptualising the sequential role of education, its institutions in practice, and wider ecosystems. Well-established attributes of entrepreneurialism, such as idea generation, problem-solving, market expertise and risk awareness are commensurate to that of expected IC practices within enterprising organisations. However, scarce research has been undertaken concerning the confronting of IC practices and activities across collaborative, and sequential, multistakeholder partnerships and activities. This includes alignment to distinct stages of developmental entrepreneurialism inclusive of education and ecosystem support: knowledge exchange and training; mentoring the emergence of the start-up; strategically timing scale-ups; and continued navigation within networks while enduring change.Design/methodology/approachAn integrative review of the relationship between IC, entrepreneurs and new ventures is undertaken to evaluate developmental IC practices as per this paper’s highlighted sequential stages, within entrepreneurial environments and organisational contexts.FindingsSignificant roles and responsibilities are evident among collaborative sectors, benefitting the entrepreneurial process and heightening the importance and emergence of IC within entrepreneurial environments. Exposure to enterprise-specific education and support emphasises the developmental human capital process of progressing and protecting ideas and ventures. Latterly, ecosystem engagement leads to consistent intrapreneurialism amongst employees and new venture partners, influencing structured IC systems and enterprising cultures and relational aspects of responsive branding of commercial activity and increased market agility.Originality/valueThrough presenting an attribute-based framework, this paper conceptualises sequential multistakeholder intervention of IC practices and organisational considerations within institutions, as well as guiding the developmental role of education in emboldening individuals and organisations through building IC and evidencing entrepreneurial thinking.

Expert methods for assessing technological innovation management at industrial enterprises in the context of digital transformation

The article studies issues of assessing the management of the end-to-end process of creating and bringing to market knowledge-intensive products in the context of economy digital transformation at medium-sized enterprises in the relevant industries, as well as ways to improve this process in the areas of Market Analysis, Planning, R&D Work. The author’s approach and algorithm for assessing the process management implementation have been disclosed, and market experts surveyed and interviewed. Weighted average integral indicators of the efficiency of implementing the end-to-end process of creating and bringing to market such products and an effective industrial digital enterprise model achievability have been determined. With the use of the expert evaluations method, the importance ranks of the process stages have been calculated. The formulated proposals for improving the efficiency level of the end-to-end process of creating and bringing to market knowledge-intensive products are programs for improving the above-mentioned stages. They will form the basis for developing and implementing basic principles, techniques, methods, and algorithms of the process management model.

A comparative study on bank income diversification: which non-interest income component is beneficial?

PurposeThis paper aims to conduct a comparative study on the impact of income diversification and the main non-interest components on banks’ financial performance and risk-adjusted profitability in China and Egypt.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses both static and dynamic panel regression analyses on a sample of Egyptian and Chinese banks from 2009 to 2022.FindingsIncome diversification yields positive effects on bank profitability in Egypt and China. Trading income consistently exhibits a significant positive influence on bank profitability in both nations. Conversely, fee-based income positively impacts bank profitability in China, whereas in Egypt, this effect is observed under dynamic-based regression models. On the contrary, income diversification does not consistently increase risk-adjusted profitability in both countries, especially Egypt.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to examine the impact of income diversification on Egyptian bank performance while identifying the most significant non-interest income components. In addition, the comparative analysis conducted in this study reveals the positioning of China, the largest economy among emerging countries, in terms of the degree of income diversification, its impact on bank profitability and the extent to which non-interest income components contribute to bank profitability when compared with Egypt, representing an emerging country characterised by different levels of bank market power, financial infrastructure and expertise. Findings hold significant implications, suggesting that bank managers and policymakers should prioritise diversifying income sources, particularly through fee-based services and trading activities in China, and trading activities in Egypt, to enhance financial profitability.

The Impact of Digital Marketing, Financial Literacy, And Digital Literacy on Purchasing Intent for Online Products

The swift advancement of technology has greatly influenced how humans engage with technology, leading to fundamental changes in communication and transactions. This has led to substantial prospects for the expansion of e-commerce in Indonesia. This study aims to elucidate the impact of digital marketing, financial literacy, and digital literacy on online product purchasing decisions. This study utilized an associative quantitative method utilizing structural equation modeling-partial least square (SEM-PLS). The study employed purposive sampling to choose a sample of 100 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Sumbawa University of Technology. Data is collected through a questionnaire distributed using a Google Form. The study shows that digital marketing, financial literacy, and digital literacy have a partial impact on the interest in purchasing things online. This highlights the significance of employing efficient digital marketing methods and consumers' comprehension of finance and information technology to enhance their inclination towards purchasing things online. Companies can boost their sales by prioritizing the enhancement of digital literacy and marketing expertise.

Deep-learning-based stock market prediction incorporating ESG sentiment and technical indicators

As sustainability emerges as a crucial factor in the development of modern enterprises, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information into financial assessments has become essential. ESG indicators serve as important metrics in evaluating a company’s sustainable practices and governance effectiveness, influencing investor trust and future growth potential, ultimately affecting stock prices. This study proposes an innovative approach that combines ESG sentiment index extracted from news with technical indicators to predict the S&P 500 index. By utilizing a deep learning model and exploring optimal window sizes, the study explores the best model through mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) as an evaluation metric. Additionally, an ablation test clarifies the influence of ESG and its causality with the S&P 500 index. The experimental results demonstrate improved predictive accuracy when considering ESG sentiment compared to relying solely on technical indicators or historical data. This comprehensive methodology enhances the advantage of stock price prediction by integrating technical indicators, which consider short-term fluctuations, with ESG information, providing long-term effects. Furthermore, it offers valuable insights for investors and financial market experts, validating the necessity to consider ESG for financial assets and introducing a new perspective to develop investment strategies and decision-making processes.

This systematic review examined the five key themes that define professionalism across various regions in the globe. These themes include fostering trust, ethical conduct, market expertise, effective communication, and continuous learning. Cultural sensitivity and adaptation are important in a globalized real estate market. It then delves deeper into the case of the Philippines, focusing on the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The paper explores the national requirements for professional conduct in the Philippines and the distinct challenges faced by real estate professionals in the Cordillera region. While acknowledging the positive aspects, this paper identifies areas for improvement, particularly regarding accessibility to continuing professional development (CPD) programs like culturally sensitive investing in online learning platforms to ensure wider accessibility for geographically dispersed professionals in the Cordillera region. The paper concludes with recommendations for the Philippines to address these challenges and empower Cordillera real estate professionals. By implementing these suggestions, the Philippines can contribute to a more professional and ethical real estate industry nationwide.

Enhancing Human Capital: A Case Study of Kuwait's Educational System and Twenty-First Century Skills

In the ever-evolving context of the twenty-first century, knowledge and innovation are progressively propelling the global economy. An essential responsibility of educational systems is to impart the skills required in the twenty-first century. Competencies such as effective communication, critical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and self-directed learning are among those that must be cultivated within the educational setting. These skills are essential in the modern workforce. To accomplish these educational goals, it is critical to establish cutting-edge and pertinent curricula, employ innovative and efficient teaching strategies, and furnish the necessary technological resources and educational materials. The objective of this study is to investigate the significance of 21st-century skills on a global scale, with a specific emphasis on the state of Kuwait. The investigation will center on the convergence of education, skills enhancement, and the progressive digital revolution. This investigation is founded upon a thorough examination of the literature and qualitative analysis, including personal interviews and focus group discussions involving policy-makers, educators, and labor market experts from diverse institutions in Kuwait. Examining current educational practices and identifying and evaluating the integration of critical 21st-century skills into education systems are the objectives of this study. The preliminary findings provided recommendations and highlighted the urgency for an educational paradigm shift to cultivate 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. Despite this, obstacles such as curriculum alignment, teacher preparation, and the requirement for adaptable educational policies continue to exist.

Gunpowder Production in Peter the Great’s Russia (Insights from Russian Historiography)

Based on an analysis of the studies published by Russian researchers of the pre-revolutionary, Soviet, and post-Soviet periods, the article overviews the development of gunpowder production in Russia during the reign of Peter I, from the end of the 17th century to the first quarter of the 18th century. The early development of military-technical policy pursued by the Russian state in producing gunpowder is considered. Its inconsistency and zigzag nature are shown. The industrial infrastructure for gunpowder production and the major stages of its history are described. The characteristic features that point to its institutionalization as an integral part of the Russian military industry are identified: state management of the industry, centralized introduction of new techniques, and establishment of an effective personnel training system. The conclusion is made that the efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in gunpowder production through the use of saltpeter and sulfur were unsuccessful. Gunpowder production in Russia was also greatly influenced by the European raw materials market and technical expertise. The need for further research on this topic is highlighted.

Understanding the challenges of blockchain technology adoption: evidence from China’s developing carbon markets

PurposeBlockchain is a disruptive technology that has matured to deliver robust, global, IT systems, yet adoption lags predictions. The authors explore barriers to adoption in the context of a global challenge with multiple stakeholders: integration of carbon markets. Going beyond the dominant economic-rationalistic paradigm of information system (IS) innovation adoption, the authors reduce pro-innovation bias and broaden inter-organizational scope by using technological frames theory to capture the cognitive framing of the challenges perceived within the world’s largest carbon emitter: China.Design/methodology/approachSemi-structured interviews with 15 key experts representing three communities in China’s carbon markets: IT experts in carbon markets; carbon market experts with conceptual knowledge of blockchain and carbon market experts with practical blockchain experience.FindingsPerceived technical challenges were found to be the least significant in explaining adoption. Significant challenges in five areas: social, political legal and policy (PLP), data, organizational and managerial (OM) and economic, with PLP and OM given most weight. Mapping to frames developed to encompass these challenges: nature of technology, strategic use of technology and technology readiness resolved frame incongruence that, in the case explored, did not lead to rejection of blockchain, but a decision to defer investment, increase the scope of analysis and delay the adoption decision.Originality/valueIncreases scope and resolution of IS adoption research. Technological frames theory moves from predominant economic-rational models to a social cognitive perspective. Broadens understanding of blockchain adoption in a context combining the world’s most carbon emissions with ownership of most blockchain patents, detailing socio-technical challenges and delivering practical guidance for policymakers and practitioners.

Implementation of Integrated Marketing Communication Based on Purchase Intention in The Artisan Tea Marketing Program

This study delves into a plantation industry company operating with B2B and B2C marketing but needs more digital marketing expertise. Their production base is situated in Wonosobo Regency, known for supplying raw materials to market leaders, positioning them as market followers. PT. Perkebunan Teh Tambi introduced the "Volka" brand's Tea Artisan program. The primary aim of this research is to formulate the company's digital marketing strategy. Qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews, direct observations, document collection, and secondary data analysis within the company's marketing division are utilized. The ultimate goal is to aid the company's market expansion through digital marketing, improving Purchase Intention via Integrated Marketing Communication theory, with an anticipated optimization of digital marketing's utility.

Mining the relationship between COVID-19 sentiment and market performance.

In March 2020, the outbreak of COVID-19 precipitated one of the most significant stock market downturns in recent history. This paper explores the relationship between public sentiment related to COVID-19 and stock market fluctuations during the different phases of the pandemic. Utilizing natural language processing and sentiment analysis, we examine Twitter data for pandemic-related keywords to assess whether these sentiments can predict changes in stock market trends. Our analysis extends to additional datasets: one annotated by market experts to integrate professional financial sentiment with market dynamics, and another comprising long-term social media sentiment data to observe changes in public sentiment from the pandemic phase to the endemic phase. Our findings indicate a strong correlation between the sentiments expressed on social media and market volatility, particularly sentiments directly associated with stocks. These insights validate the effectiveness of our Sentiment(S)-LSTM model, which helps to understand the evolving dynamics between public sentiment and stock market trends from 2020 through 2023, as the situation shifts from pandemic to endemic and approaches new normalcy.

Marketing audit is a tool for strategic development of an industrial company

The high-tech sector of the economy carries out marketing activities at the operational and strategic management level. The implemented import substitution policy actualizes the marketing expertise of the technical decisions taken. Technological audit is aimed at improving the competitiveness of a particular production. The results of the completed marketing audit determine the main directions of innovative changes in the production landscape. The authors propose a conceptual model of a marketing management system that integrates the results of the evaluation of marketing and technological audit and creates conditions for the release of innovative industrial products. Relationship marketing forms new criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of marketing activities, which is based on increasing the level of consumer perception of the brand. Strategic priorities for the development of industrial companies are based on a marketing platform and ensure the achievement of technological self-confidence.

Analysis of the Effect of Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Mindset on Entrepreneurial Skills using use of Social Media as a Mediator Variable at SMKN & SMKS with Marketing Expertise Programs in Mojokerto Regency

Business is often discussed in all forums and media, as evidenced by many teaching methods, and business is now a required course in many higher and basic universities (Lockma & Schirm, 2020). In this research, we use several methods using partial least squares equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to estimate and confirm the given hypotheses. This study uses Google Forms to collect information on employment and secondary school students in Mojokerto Regency. The respondents to this study are 346 respondents from three schools targeted for this study. Entrepreneurship education has therefore been shown to be incapable of explaining social media use or entrepreneurial skills. However, theories of entrepreneurship can explain social media use and entrepreneurial skills. Additionally, market perception will have a greater impact on the market if it is improved using social media as an indicator. At the same time, although business education is strong using social media as an intermediary, it does not appear to have a greater impact on the ability to do business.

Księgozbiór specjalistyczny Henryka Grohmana (1862– 1939) a jego kolekcja grafiki nowoczesnej

This article is the first study of the library belonging to the Łódź industrialist and art collector Henryk Grohman (1862–1939). It attempts to answer the question of the degree to which analysing these volumes, which are now housed in the collections of the University of Warsaw Library and the National Museum in Warsaw, can prove helpful in the study of art collections. The methodology for researching historical book collections was used to reconstruct and describe the library. These inquiries resulted in more than 165 titles being determined, which originally belonging to Grohman and covered oriental and European arts and crafts, as well as graphic and drawing arts (about 60). These included monographs, albums, and critical catalogues, exhibition and antiquarian nature, published mainly in Western Europe before 1914. The collector’s specialized book collection, built up on an ongoing basis, overlapped with his artistic interests and had the character of a utilitarian library. From the point of view of the study of graphic collections of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the reference libraries of their creators seem to be of particular importance. In times when taste no longer sufficed to create a valuable collection, and quality and rarity became the main criteria for selecting graphic works, specialized literature on the subject was of help. Created by art historians, collection curators, art market experts, and also private collectors, it introduced the nuanced world of graphic arts. It provided a tool to help identify a print, determine its state, edition and quality, and thus determine the value of a given work. The preserved publications from Grohman’s library were therefore regarded as sources of specialized knowledge that the collector could not acquire either during his education or in his native environment. Three publications have been analysed in detail in the context of Grohman’s graphic arts collection: the series Le peintre-graveur illustré by Loys Delteil (1906–1926), the two-volume catalogue of Jean-Louis Forain’s lithographs and etchings by Marcel Guérin (1910, 1912), and the album devoted to the engravings of Fank Bangwyn prepared by Frank Newbolt (1908). These are publications reflecting the thriving activity of the circle of print enthusiasts of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which had a significant impact on the dissemination of knowledge about this field of art. The series of relationships revealed between the collection of prints and drawings and the reference library significantly expanded the knowledge on its creator and how the collection was formed. It made it possible to appreciate the collector’s expertise and artistic taste, to observe how his awareness grew, influencing decisions on subsequent purchases, and also to detail the provenance of certain works. Thanks to the research field being expanded to include Grohman’s library, the findings on his graphic collection have become more complete and reliable.

Empowering Ciung Wanara Tourism Site Food Stall Owners with Digital Marketing Expertise and Business Licencing

Background: In the neighborhood of Ciung Wanara tourist area in the Ciamis district, 25 food stall owners have been selling for more than 10 years. They trade manually without having good entrepreneurial skills, do not use digital technology in marketing products, and do not have a formal business license.
 Contribution: This activity aims to provide understanding and knowledge of food stall owners about digital marketing and strengthen business legality permits.
 Method: The method applied uses a pattern of observation, training, socialization, direct face-to-face discussion (offline), as well as the direct practice of creating social media accounts and making business legality permits.
 Results: The output of this service produces two aspects for shop owners. First, in the digital marketing aspect, business actors already have social media accounts including Google business, Facebook marketplace, Instagram, and WhatsApp business. In addition, they can understand and operate these social media tools for their business activities. Second, the formal legal aspects of the business. Business actors already have a business license in the form of a firm recognition Number (NIB).
 Conclusion: This activity is very beneficial directly for business actors. Having social media can increase sales turnover. And having NIB, they can develop their business, support the security and comfort of doing business and get legal certainty in enterprises.

Public debt management announcements: A welfare-theoretic analysis

Before an auction, public debt managers (DMs) announce the number of bonds to be sold to primary dealers (PDs); however, the empirical evidence suggests that when “beat-the-market” opportunities arise, more bonds than announced are auctioned. A micro foundation for this result resides in PDs’ sale of bonds to uninformed traders, thereby extracting information rents. These rents give rise to two counteracting effects. On the one hand, they create an auction premium that motivates DMs to overissue. On the other hand, they motivate traders to learn the bond value, which increases market expertise, mitigating the auction premium and issuance bias. A credible announcement policy raises welfare by increasing the auction premium, depressing the issuance bias, and reducing traders’ need to invest in market expertise.
