The purpose of the study is to analyze the current situation regarding the temporary stoppage of shipping in the Sea of Azov and determine its impact on logistics in the ports of the Southern Federal District (SFD) of the Russian Federation. The scientific novelty consists in forecasting the issues of further reorganization of the activities of the ports of the Sea of Azov, updating current problems and rethinking modern policy in the field of maritime cargo transportation. As a result, it was revealed that the ports of the Sea of Azov make up a smaller part in the share of cargo turnover of all ports of the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation; at the same time, there are so-called "giants" in export among the stopped ports. The conducted assessment makes it possible to emphasize the loss of 2 million tons already. cargo turnover during the limitation of the ports. At the same time, the main part of the cargo, namely about 60% are cereals; the remaining part is mostly oil and its derivatives.
