Implications of Mangrove Planting For Ecotourism Prospects in Kartikajaya Village, Patebon District, Kendal Regency

The community service program in Kartikajaya Village aims to utilize local economic potential by making mangrove planting a tourist attraction. The village has suitable geographical conditions for ecotourism development, but the lack of community awareness and understanding of the benefits of mangroves is a major challenge. The program involves the local community in mangrove planting and maintenance activities, as well as providing education on the importance of mangroves in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems and increasing the village's tourism attractiveness. The results of this program showed an increase in community awareness of the importance of environmental conservation, as well as an increase in the number of tourist visits to the village. Thus, mangrove planting not only serves as an environmental conservation effort, but can also make a positive contribution to the economy of the surrounding community through the development of river cruising ecotourism.

Activity of Mangrove-Derived Fusarium equiseti 20CB07RF Extract Against Clinical, Antibacterial-Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Endophytic fungi originating from mangroves are potential sources of secondary metabolites with varying bioactivities. This research explores the bioactive metabolites produced by endophytes derived from mangrove plants. Endophytic fungi were collected from various parts of several mangrove plants (roots, stems, and leaves, as well as the surrounding mud). A total of 17 endophytics fungi were obtained. The isolates were derived from the leaves (1 isolate), stems (8 isolates), roots (5 isolates), and surrounding mud (3 isolates). A single fungal colony was cultured using solid-state fermentation for 14 days. The fermented fungal biomass was extracted using ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and evaluated for its antibacterial activity against clinical pathogenic bacteria. In the preliminary screening, the EtOAc extract of the CB07RF1 isolate exhibited notable growth-inhibitory effects against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The isolate was verified by molecular identification using a study of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence, revealed that isolate CB07RF1 was very similar to Fusarium equiseti (99% similarity). Isolate 20CB07RF1, obtained by solid-state fermentation using a rice medium indicated as peptide compound group, and featured active components that exhibited potent growth inhibitory activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa at a concentration of 12.5 mg/mL. This study demonstrates, for the first time, that Fusarium equiseti extracts grown in a rice medium contain antimicrobial compounds that can inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa, an important clinical pathogen known for its antibacterial resistance. These findings accent mangrove endophytic fungi as important sources of bioactive compounds and will advance related research in the fields of biotechnology, pharmacology, and life sciences.

Mangrove Project: Pendidikan Masyarakat Berbasis Edupreneurship

In this research, the concept of edupreneurship is used as an approach in designing the process of applying creativity in providing education to the public about opportunities to increase financial coffers. The potential for good cooperation between pkk mothers who meet every week and the abundant natural potential can increase income and add value. One of the abundant potentials is the mangrove plant whose leaves and fruit can be used. This research aims to (1) map the environmental and economic potential of the Tapak Village community with an edupreneurship perspective (2) Increase community creativity, especially coastal communities which have abundant mangroves (3) Create jobs for the community to increase financial coffers. The research method used in this research was carried out by a project in Tapak Village. Data obtained through interviews and documentation. with research subjects namely the community of pkk mothers in Tapak Village, Tugu District, Semarang City. The research results show that the potential of the Tapak Village community has abundant resources in the form of mangrove plants, considering that the community is enthusiastic and united. Abundant resources in the form of mangrove plants can be used as processed food which has sales value in the field of health snacks.

Identifikasi Tumbuhan Mangrove di Hutan Lindung Padu Empat-Lebak Kerawang Desa Batu Ampar Kabupaten Kubu Raya

Mangroves in Batu Ampar Village, West Kalimantan Province are under threat of damage because they are used as various commercial purposes by the local community such as logging mangrove trees for the mangrove charcoal industry. Mangroves have a vital functions for the environment, so that mangrove conservation is necessary. One of the mangrove conservation efforts is to know the types of mangrove plants in an area. The purpose of this study was to identify the types of mangrove plants and categorize into major, minor and associated mangroves found in the Padu Empat-Lebak Kerawang Protection Forest, Batu Ampar Village, West Kalimantan. Data collection used a survey method with a zig-zag cruising technique. There were 3 routes used in this research. The herbarium was made to facilitate the identification of mangrove plants. The identification results showed that there were 7 species of mangrove which included in 5 families: Rhizophoraceae, Arecaceae, Meliaceae, Pteridaceae, and Moraceae. The seven species found were divided into 3 mangrove groups, namely 4 major mangroves including Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, and Nypa fruticans; 2 minor mangroves including Xylocarpus granatum and Acrostichum speciosum, and 1 associated mangrove, namely Ficus retusa.

Floristic status and analyses of the mangrove marine park in Muanda (central Kongo) and the Kimvula-Mitendi experimental site in Kinshasa (democratic republic of Congo)

Human activities and climate change affect mangrove biotopes. This study is part of the search for a space favorable to the domestication of these species in the ecological landscape of Kinshasa (DRC) for their sustainable management. Plant species were collected, identified, and analyzed for biological, ecological and phytogeographical parameters determination. A total of 38 species were identified, among which 14 were from Km5-Banana (Muanda) and 24 from Kimvula-Mitendi (Kinshasa) sites. Magnoliophyta represent 92.86% of species versus 7.14% of Polypodiophyta. The generic coefficient of Jaccard was estimated to 92.86% at Km5-Banana and 100% at Kimvula-Mitendi. Sorensen’s evidence of similarities between the two sites reveals that the two sites were very different. The forest at Kimvula-Mitendi is heavily exploited and the mangrove forest at Km5-Banana seriously degraded. Domestication success of mangrove plant species from Km5-Banan in the biotope of Kinshasa may result in a big challenge and need suitable research and technical strategies.

Hubungan komunitas moluska dengan parameter lingkungan di kawasan mangrove Pulau Penyu, Tanjung Benoa, Bali

Mangroves are plants in coastal and estuary areas that are influenced by tides. Mangroves provide essential habitats as spawning, nursery and food sources for various biota, including mollusks. Mollusks have a reciprocal relationship with mangrove plants, play an important role in maintaining the balance of the food chain in mangrove ecosystems. The objective of the research is to establish the structure of the mollusk community and its correlation with environmental conditions in the Pulau Penyu mangroves. The study was carried out in September 2023. The method employed the 1x1m quadrat transect with 15 points per station. Salinity, pH, temperature and substrate type are all measurements of environmental conditions. The research revealed 24 species, including 20 gastropod species and 4 bivalvia species from 12 mollusk families. Families found include Potamididae, Cerithiidae, Batillariidae, Ellobiidae, Mitridae, Neritidae, Littorinidae, Naticidae, Muricidae, Veneridae, Cyrenidae and Corbulidae. Mollusk abundance ranged from 0,07 to 13,07 ind/m2 at the research site, with Cerithium coralium being the most abundant species and Corbula macgillivrayi being the least abundant. The results of diversity index is 1,90 to 2,25; evenness index is 0,68 to 0,78; dominance index is 0,18 to 0,25; indicating moderate species diversity, high individual numbers each species, and no dominant species. The range of environmental parameter values obtained were; temperature ranges from 34,1 to 35,37 oC; pH ranges from 6,43 to 6,68; and salinity ranges from 35,2 to 36,3 ppt. The substrate type at the research site was sandy clay and clayey sand. PCA analysis results indicate a strong relationship between mollusk abundance and pH, salinity and sand fraction, but very weak relationship with temperature, dust and clay fraction.

Inventarisasi tumbuhan mangrove di Hutan Lindung Tanjung Prapat Muda, Kecamatan Batu Ampar, Kalimantan Barat

Each mangrove ecosystem is diversed which constituted of different vegetations. This also apply for the mangrove area in the Tanjung Prapat Muda Protected Forest, Tanjung Harapan Village, Batu Ampar District. A study of an inventory of mangrove plants was carried out to identify species make up the Tanjung Prapat Muda Protected Forest area. Data collection is conducted alongside the lanes which created by applying the combination of transect and grid lines (transect-plots design). There are 3 lanes with each line consist of 10 plots placed in a zig-zag (right-left) manner. Each plot had sub-plots of different sizes starting from the levels of seedlings (2×2 m), saplings (5×5 m), poles (10×10 m), and trees (20×20 m). Identification was carried out in the field and laboratory. Any unidentified species in the field is documented as herbarium to help identification in the laboratory later. The results shows that there are 7 mangrove species. Five of them are major mangroves (true mangroves), 1 is minor mangrove, and the other 1 are classified as associated mangroves. All the 7 species of plants are belong to 3 families: the Rhizophoraceae, Pteridaceae, and Moraceae families. Five species belong to Rhizophoraceae, namely Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera parviflora, and Ceriops tagal. The Pteridaceae family consists of one species, namely Acrostichum speciosum, while the Moraceae family only consists of one species, namely Ficus retusa.

2,2',4,4'-Tetrabromodiphenyl Ether (BDE-47) at Environmental Levels Influenced Photosynthesis in the Mangrove Species Kandelia obovata.

2,2',4,4'-tetra-bromodiphenytol ether (BDE-47) is one of the ubiquitous organic pollutants in mangrove sediments. To reveal the toxic effects of BDE-47 on mangrove plants, the mangrove species Kandelia obovate was used to investigate the photosynthetic capacity effects and the molecular mechanisms involved after BDE-47 exposure at environment-related levels (50, 500, and 5000 ng g-1 dw). After a 60-day exposure, the photosynthetic capacity was inhibited in K. obovata seedlings, and a decrease in the stomatal density and damage in the chloroplast ultrastructure in the leaves were found. Transcriptome sequencing showed that, following exposure to BDE-47, gene expression in photosynthesis-related pathways was predominantly suppressed in the leaves. The bioinformatics analysis indicated that BDE-47 exerts toxicity by inhibiting photosystem I activity and chlorophyll a/b-binding protein-related genes in the leaves of K. obovata. Thus, this study provides preliminary theoretical evidence for the toxic mechanism effect of BDE-47 on photosynthesis in mangrove species.

The organic acid environmental capacity of mangrove ecosystem in Dongzhai harbor, Hainan, China

To establish a method for studying the organic acid environmental capacity of mangrove ecosystems, high-performance liquid chromatography was used to measure the organic acid detoxification agent; Using different cultivation methods to determine the toxicity threshold of organic acids on mangrove plants; Calculate the environmental capacity of organic acids by combining the toxicity threshold of organic acids with the volume of water in the study area. The results showed the range of toxicity thresholds of organic acids to 25.29–30 mg/L would have an inhibitory effect on the development of mangrove plant hypocotyls; The organic acid environmental capacity of Dongzhai harbor Mangrove Wetland Protection Area is 7.76 × 10^4 kg/d ~ 8.73 × 10^4 kg/d, while the estimated organic acid emissions from shrimp ponds around Dongzhai harbor are 7.06 × 10^3 kg/d ~ 7.83 × 10^3 kg/d. Therefore, the organic acid emissions from shrimp ponds around Dongzhai harbor are within the carrying range of the mangrove wetland ecosystem in Dongzhai harbor.

Community-based, cost-effective multispecies mangrove restoration innovation to maximize soil blue carbon pool and humic acid and fulvic acid concentrations at Indian Sundarbans.

Sundarbans is the world's largest and most diverse contiguous mangrove ecosystem. In this pilot study, three plots (around1ha each) were selected, where one site (S1) had 1year of community involvement, another site (S2) had a community network to support the restoration initiatives for 2years, while a control site (C) was devoid of any post plantationcommunity protection. Rhizophora mucronata (Rhizophoraceae), Sonneretia caseolaris (Lythraceae) and Avicennia marina (Acanthaceae) were planted at the sites in 2012. After 6years (in 2017), at S1, the monitoring showed low survival rate for salinity-sensitive species, 2% for R. mucronata and 4% for S. caseolaris. At S2, R. mucronata has high survival rates, i.e. 71%, followed by S. caseolaris with 40%, whereas at C, the survival rate of both species was 0%. At S1 and C, the salinity-tolerant A. marina replaced the planted mangroves partially (S1) or entirely (C). At S2, available soil P increased by 17.5%, in 6years, and the overall blue carbon pool showed a linear increase from 64.4 to 88.6Mg C ha-1 (34.3% rise). S1 showed a minimum increment in P and the blue carbon pool (6.9% rise), while site C showed fluctuations in the blue carbon pool with only a 3.1% increase. Humic acid and fulvic acid concentrations in the S2 site indicate positive functional carbon sequestration in the edaphic environment. The community involvement increased the plantation cost (567.70 USD) of S2, in comparison to S1 (342.52 USD) and C (117.34 USD), but it has resulted in better restoration and survival of the mangroves. The study concludes that community participation for at least 2years can play a significant role in the conservation of mangrove ecosystems and the success of restoration initiatives in tidal, saline wetlands and would aid in compliance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water) targets.

Differences in the uptake and translocation of differentially charged microplastics by the taproot and lateral root of mangroves

The interception of microplastics (MPs) by mangrove roots plays an indispensable role in reducing the environmental risks of MPs. However, there remains limited research on the fate of the intercepted MPs. Hereby, the uptake and subsequent translocation of 0.2 μm and 2 μm PS MPs with different coating charge by the typical salt-secreting mangrove plants (Aegiceras corniculatum) were investigated. Compared to amino-functionalized PS with positive charge (PS-NH2), the visualized results indicated that the efficient uptake of carboxy-functionalized PS with negative charge (PS-COOH) was more dependent on taproots. But for the lateral roots, it only allowed the entry of PS-NH2 instead of PS-COOH. The specific uptake pathways of PS-NH2 on the lateral roots could attribute to the release of H+ and organic acids by root hairs, as well as the relative higher Zeta potential. After entering the Aegiceras corniculatum roots, the translocation of PS MPs was restricted by their particle sizes. Furthermore, the release of PS MPs from Aegiceras corniculatum leaf surfaces through the salt glands and stomata was observed. And the decline in the photochemical efficiency of leaves under PS MPs exposure also indirectly proved the foliar emission of PS MPs. Our study improved the understanding of the environmental behaviors and risks of the retained MPs in mangroves.

Identification of Bioactive Compounds from Pedada Fruit Extract (Sonneratia Caseolaris) to Prevent Stunting

Stunting is a problem that still cannot be resolved throughout the world, especially in Indonesia. Children who are malnourished show high levels of blood oxidative stress biomarkers as well as inhibition in growth. To understand prevention of stunting, research was conducted using pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) which is a mangrove plant taken at the Wonorejo Magrove Ecotourism, Rungkut District, Surabaya City, East Java. The results of the research were used to reveal that there are bioactive compounds in pedada fruit extract to prevent stunting. This research used One Shot Experimental Study. The variables studied used primary data from screening of phenolic and flavonoid antioxidant metabolite compounds at the FK UHT Pharmacy Laboratory and screening for Cu, Fe, Zn mineral content at the UPT East Java Nutrition Laboratory. Result: Based on the results of qualitative phytochemical screening, pedada fruit contained phytochemical compounds, namely phenolics and flavonoids. Mineral screening of pedada fruit was carried out using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. Pedada fruit extract contained zinc (Zn) of 1.057 mg, while copper (Cu) and iron (Fe) of 0 mg.

Dicerandrol C Suppresses Proliferation and Induces Apoptosis of HepG2 and Hela Cancer Cells by Inhibiting Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway.

Overwhelming evidence points to an aberrant Wnt/β-catenin signaling as a critical factor in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cervical cancer (CC) pathogenesis. Dicerandrol C (DD-9), a dimeric tetrahydroxanthenone isolated from the endophytic fungus Phomopsis asparagi DHS-48 obtained from mangrove plant Rhizophora mangle via chemical epigenetic manipulation of the culture, has demonstrated effective anti-tumor properties, with an obscure action mechanism. The objective of the current study was to explore the efficacy of DD-9 on HepG2 and HeLa cancer cells and its functional mechanism amid the Wnt/β catenin signaling cascade. Isolation of DD-9 was carried out using various column chromatographic methods, and its structure was elucidated with 1D NMR. The cytotoxicity of DD-9 on HepG2 and HeLa cells was observed with respect to the proliferation, clonality, migration, invasion, apoptosis, cell cycle, and Wnt/β-catenin signaling cascade. We found that DD-9 treatment significantly reduced tumor cell proliferation in dose- and time-dependent manners in HepG2 and HeLa cells. The subsequent experiments in vitro implied that DD-63 could significantly suppress the tumor clonality, metastases, and induced apoptosis, and that it arrested the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase of HepG2 and HeLa cells. Dual luciferase assay, Western blot, and immunofluorescence assay showed that DD-9 could dose-dependently attenuate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling by inhibiting β-catenin transcriptional activity and abrogating β-catenin translocated to the nucleus; down-regulating the transcription level of β-catenin-stimulated Wnt target gene and the expression of related proteins including p-GSK3-β, β-catenin, LEF1, Axin1, c-Myc, and CyclinD1; and up-regulating GSK3-β expression, which indicates that DD-9 stabilized the β-catenin degradation complex, thereby inducing β-catenin degradation and inactivation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. The possible interaction between DD-9 and β-catenin and GSK3-β protein was further confirmed by molecular docking studies. Collectively, DD-9 may suppress proliferation and induce apoptosis of liver and cervical cancer cells, possibly at least in part via GSK3-β-mediated crosstalk with the Wnt/β-catenin signaling axis, providing insights into the mechanism for the potency of DD-9 on hepatocellular and cervical cancer.

Natural breeding performance in different saline water pens, crablets rearing and cannibalism in juvenile phase of mangrove mud crab (Scylla olivacea) in earthen mangrove pens

The current study focused on natural breeding techniques using locally available mud crab broods during breeding season. The breeding trial was tested in artificially created earthen pens that designed with mangrove plants and salt tolerance grass. Mature brood crabs were collected from local rivers and equally distributed in 20 L black color plastic containers in three different salinities (T1 = 24ppt, T2 = 26ppt, and T3 = 28ppt) and covered with black cloth. The river salinity was 26ppt during breeding season that is considered as control(T2), and treatment T1 and T3 were prepared artificially mixing with water and sea salt respectively. Broods are reared in containers until hatching and zoea was transferred to earthen pens immediately after hatching. Zoea were reared in earthen pens until turns to crablet(0.027 ± 0.005 g). The broods as well as crablet were identified through molecular barcoding and confirmed species as Scylla olivicea. Besides, morphometric characters like weight(126.22 ± 0.19 g), carapace length(6.36 ± 0.08 cm), carapace width(9.08 ± 0.08 cm), carapace color(brownish to brownish green), Anterolateral margin and teeth (3.79 ± 0.05 cm), abdomen length(3.04 ± 0.02 cm), hand (5.50 ± 0.03 cm), carpus(2.54 ± 0.04), antenna (2.69 ± 0.07), frontal margin(2.90 ± 0.07 cm), dactylus(3.13 ± 0.06 cm), thoracic sternites(4.17 ± 0.10), merus(4.16 ± 0.11 cm) etc. are also assessed during the experiment. The hatching rate, survival %, incubation period and other parameters are significantly different among the treatments. The highest hatching rate was observed in T2(91.34 ± 4.61 %) and lowest was in T1(57.98 ± 1.38) whereas the highest survival rate was recorded in T2(10.53 ± 1.56) and lowest observed in T1(2.87 ± 0.68). The order of incubation was T1(12.3 days)>T3(11 days)>T2(8.67days) observed during experiment. The cannibalism rate was also estimated in this experiment and observed cannibalism rate was 71.20 ± 2.08. Natural mud crab breeding is easy and can be applicable in fields at low cost with significant survival rate.

Caught in transition: changes in brachyuran diversity following mangrove encroachment into saltmarshes at a southern distribution limit

Mangroves are expanding polewards due to global change, often encroaching into adjacent temperate saltmarshes. In both vegetated ecosystems, brachyurans are responsible for ecological processes and functions such as nutrient cycling and sediment bioturbation. South African mangroves occur at a latitudinal limit and are establishing further south due to past planting events and global change, making these ideal study systems for the effects of mangrove expansion and encroachment. Here, we investigated the effect of mangrove encroachment on brachyuran community composition at two saltmarsh sites with planted mangrove stands of different ages. Transects were laid perpendicular to each estuary where three habitat types were demarcated (mangrove, ecotone, saltmarsh). Sediment samples were collected for analyses and quadrats were used to measure pneumatophore density, saltmarsh cover, and brachyuran abundance and diversity. We found that brachyuran community structure at each site has significantly changed over seven years, with two mangrove-associated fiddler crab species, Tubuca urvillei and Paraleptuca chlorophthalmus, now recorded at the younger planted site, indicating a new southern distributional limit. Community structure was also significantly different amongst habitat types (p < 0.05) with Parasesarma catenatum dominating saltmarshes while Danielella edwardsii was more prominent in mangroves. However, community composition did not differ significantly between the two (differently aged) sites (p > 0.05). Pneumatophore density had a proportional relationship with crab abundance, diversity and richness, while saltmarsh cover had an inversely proportional relationship with crab abundance, diversity and richness. It is likely that as mangroves continue to expand into saltmarshes, more mangrove-associated species will move into saltmarshes, potentially altering ecosystem processes in this unique habitat.

Potensi Hutan Mangrove Sebagai Daya Tarik Wisata (Studi Kasus Pada Hutan Mangrove Idaman Kec. Tarowang, Kab. Jeneponto, Prov. Sulawesi Selatan)

The Research of the potential of mangrove forests as an educational tourism is a survey research that focuses on the richness of mangrove forest ecosystems and its potential as an economic driver for the community through educational tourism activities. This research was conducted in the Idaman mangrove forest, Tarowang sub-district, Jeneponto South Sulawesi province. Data collection techniques used were through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the characteristics of the Idaman mangrove forest consist of various species of mangrove plants, birds, and other mangrove ecosystems that are very potential as a tourist attraction. The potential of the mangrove forest has not been optimized by the communities around tourism area so that it has not yet optimally contributed as an economic source. The constraints in developing of the Idaman mangrove forest as a tourist attraction are the absence of a community-based tourism development and management model on the attractiveness of the Idaman mangrove forest, the low creativity and capacity of the community, as well as limited tourism support facilities. The recommended model for developing mangrove forests is educational tourism based through nursery activities and planting of mangrove forests for conservation, utilization and diversification of mangrove forest products as culinary and handicraft products.

Therapeutic potential of selenium nanoparticles synthesized by mangrove plant: Combatting oral pathogens and exploring additional biological properties

BackgroundOver the past few decades, nanoparticles have been widely employed to limit the growth of cancer both in vivo and in vitro, as well as many dangerous bacteria, fungi, and viruses. In traditional medicine, a marine plant called Rhizophora mucronata is frequently used to treat skin conditions, inflammation, and diabetes. ObjectiveEvaluate the efficacy of selenium nanoparticles synthesized using mangrove plant extracts in combating oral pathogens and assess their potential for additional biological properties towards the development of novel therapeutic interventions for oral infections and related conditions. MethodsIn the current study, R. mucronata was utilized to create selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) in an environmentally friendly manner. The elements of the material were identified using EDX spectroscopy, its shape was examined using SEM, and its surface Plasmon resonance was measured using UV–Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, FT-IR was used to identify the SeNPs' functional groups. ResultsThe produced nanoparticles ranged in size from 20 to 60 nm and had a spherical form. Later analyses concentrated on the ability of the synthesized nanoparticles to combat common oral pathogens that cause dental cavities and other oral diseases. The marine plant-derived SeNPs showed notable zones of inhibition in addition to lethal actions against these oral infections. These nanoparticles also demonstrated anti-inflammatory and potentially effective DPPH radical scavenging qualities. ConclusionBased on the above reported results, it can be concluded that SeNPs generated by R. mucronata have significant potential for a variety of pharmacological and medical uses.

Eksplorasi program lingkungan hijau sebagai upaya pengurangan pencemaran lingkungan laut di Kota Pasuruan

Pencemaran laut adalah masalah serius bagi banyak kota pesisir, termasuk Kota Pasuruan, yang berdampak negatif pada lingkungan laut, kesehatan manusia, dan ekonomi lokal. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi efektivitas program lingkungan hijau untuk mengurangi pencemaran laut di Pasuruan. Metode kualitatif digunakan dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan analisis dokumen terkait. Informan kunci adalah pejabat pemerintah, anggota komunitas, dan aktivis lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program lingkungan hijau, seperti kampanye pengelolaan sampah, penanaman mangrove, rehabilitasi sungai, dan promosi gaya hidup ramah lingkungan, berhasil mengurangi pencemaran laut dan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat. Namun, tantangan seperti kurangnya anggaran, partisipasi masyarakat, dan pemahaman tentang konservasi lingkungan masih ada. Rekomendasi untuk keberlanjutan program mencakup peningkatan pendanaan, pelibatan aktif masyarakat, dan pendidikan lingkungan. Secara keseluruhan, program lingkungan hijau berpotensi besar mengurangi pencemaran laut di Pasuruan, tetapi diperlukan kerjasama dari pemerintah, masyarakat, dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya untuk memastikan keberhasilan jangka panjangnya.

Growth Performance of Mangrove Seedlings Planted with Guludan Technique at Elang Laut Area, Muara Angke, Jakarta

Elang Laut area is one of the mangrove areas on Muara Angke coast in the northern Jakarta. Mangrove rehabilitation with the guludan technique is applied in the Elang Laut to revegetated degraded mangrove in this area. This study aims to measure the growth of planted mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) seedlings with guludan technique, seedling’s health condition, and their survival rate in the Elang Laut area. The data collected in this study includes the growth of seedlings and their health condition, substrate condition, climatic factors, and water quality. On year after planting, it is observed that the seedlings’ survival rate of 97,27%, average seedling’s stem diameter of 1,42 cm, average seedling’s height of 79,71 cm, average seedling’s leaf number of 25 leaves, and the average seedling’s internode number of 8 internodes, among them 64% of the seedlings are in a healthy condition.

New Naphthalene Derivatives from the Mangrove Endophytic Fungus Daldinia eschscholzii MCZ-18.

Five new naphthalene derivatives dalesconosides A-D, F (1-4, 6), a known synthetic analogue named dalesconoside E (5), and eighteen known compounds (7-24) were isolated from Daldinia eschscholzii MCZ-18, which is an endophytic fungus obtained from the Chinese mangrove plant Ceriops tagal. Differing from previously reported naphthalenes, compounds 1 and 2 were bearing a rare ribofuranoside substituted at C-1 and the 5-methyltetrahydrofuran-2,3-diol moiety, respectively. Their structures were determined by detailed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectroscopic (MS) analyses, while the absolute configurations were established by theoretical electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculation. Compounds 1, 3, 13-17 and 19 showed broad ranges of antimicrobial spectrum against five indicator test microorganisms (Enterococcus faecalis, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans); especially, 1, 16 and 17 were most potent. The variations in structure and attendant biological activities provided fresh insights concerning structure-activity relationships for the naphthalene derivatives.
