An Association Works for Mandatory Licensure

COLORADO nurses won a legislative battle for mandatory licensure in 1957. They did it as a result of two years detailed planning and careful execution of those plans. No detail was too small to be considered important; no organization was too remote from the profession to be overlooked; no individual too insignificant to be cultivated. Once the public understood, passage couldn't be stopped. Credit for its success goes to hundreds of Colorado professional nurses who worked for its passage. The execution of a detailed plan was handled primarily by the state association's attorney and its executive director under the direction of the state president and the legislative chair-
