Prosedur Pelaksanaan Pelatihan Tentang Keselamatan Kerja Dan Lingkungan Di Telkom Witel Denpasar

Field Work Practice (PKL) has been carried out at Telkom Witel Denpasar from June 10 to August 9, 2024. This report discusses the procedures for implementing training on occupational safety and the environment at Telkom Witel Denpasar. Procedures related to occupational safety and the environment have been prepared but have not been realized in detail. With the procedures and understanding directly related to emergency response not yet being realized, training is needed to increase employee awareness and comply with existing regulations. The main objective of this activity is to provide understanding and provide knowledge about emergency response procedures related to occupational safety and the environment. With these problems, surveys and interviews were conducted in the field. Then, there is a method of implementation, namely conducting training related to occupational safety and the environment to increase awareness and practice of occupational safety and environmental management in the company. The training that has been carried out includes the use of personal protective equipment, fire and emergency evacuation simulations, emergency response procedures, handling hazardous materials, and waste management. The results of the implementation of this training show a significant increase in employee awareness, understanding, knowledge and the realization of established procedures which are expected to reduce the number of work accidents, reduce negative impacts on the environment and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

The Impact and Effectiveness of Virtual Reality Applied to the Safety Training of Workers in Open-Cast Mining

This paper presents the results of an interactive virtual reality (VR) training program aimed at enhancing Health and Safety (H&S) management practices in quarrying operations. The course was designed based on industry best practices, as well as both voluntary and mandatory standards relevant to marble mining activities. It combines experiential learning with a performance monitoring system that tracks completion rates, time taken, and scores based on user decisions. The primary objective was to assess the impact of VR training across different user groups, categorized by age, prior safety experience, familiarity with equipment and processes, and VR proficiency. This study involved 40 participants and analyzed 15 variables, including occupation, age, H&S skills, process knowledge, equipment familiarity, VR skills, physical impact of VR, number of attempts before completion, percentage and time of completion, achieved scores, retention of knowledge, and user feedback before and after training. Performance measurement was carried out using two methods: a Microsoft Forms questionnaire with 16 questions, completed by participants one week after training, and Simula Solution, which automatically tracked and recorded performance metrics (time, percentage, errors, and scores) during each session. The survey successfully identified which demographic groups were most affected by VR training. The findings of this study could have important implications for improving H&S practices in the mining sector by empowering workers to engage in training and interact with process resources. This allows them to experience virtual accidents in a controlled, risk-free environment.

Application of GIS in road safety analysis: A case study of NH66 corridor in Kollam

Road accidents are a significant concern globally, impacting public safety and infrastructure. This study investigated the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to analyze road safety along the most extended bypass in Kerala, India. Through a detailed review of existing methodologies and the integration of GIS tools, the research identified and characterized accident black spots - areas with a high frequency of accidents. The methodology involved collecting and analyzing secondary and primary data. Secondary data used in the study was the accident data obtained from District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) of the Police Department and primary data included road characteristics and traffic parameters collected from the study site. Preliminary analysis of secondary data revealed insights into the temporal and demographic aspects of accidents, common types of collisions, and other significant contributing factors leading to accidents. Different approaches were used to identify accident black spots: reactive and proactive. The reactive approach used for black spot determination employed by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) specifications and the Weighted Severity Index method which relied upon accident data for the analysis. The proactive approach employed the Total Weight and Weighted Overlay Method in GIS to rank the black spots without depending upon the accident data, thereby aiming at proactively identifying potential safety issues for incident prevention. The study’s findings revealed areas with high accident susceptibility, facilitating targeted interventions and remedial measures, including implementing speed breakers, service roads, separate turning lanes at junctions, and enhanced traffic signage at accident-prone locations. Additionally, the study identified the potential of GIS technologies in improving road safety management practices, data visualization, and decision-making processes. Overall, the study underscores the importance of leveraging GIS technology for comprehensive road safety analysis and management, with implications for policy formulation, infrastructure planning, and accident prevention strategies.

This study aims to explore the role of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management strategies in preparing culinary students at the Akademi Komunitas MAPINDO to become competent professionals in the culinary industry. The research focuses on how OHS management strategies are implemented in the culinary education curriculum and their impact on students’ job readiness in the culinary sector. This study employs a mixed-methods approach by combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with instructors and culinary industry practitioners to understand the application of OHS strategies in teaching. Quantitative data were obtained through surveys involving culinary students to assess their perceptions of OHS training and its influence on their job readiness. The findings show that the OHS management strategies applied at the Akademi Komunitas MAPINDO significantly contribute to preparing culinary students with the necessary skills to face risks in industrial kitchen environments. Students reported an improved understanding of safety procedures and practical risk-handling skills. Additionally, collaboration between educational institutions and the culinary industry was found to enhance the relevance of the OHS curriculum. This research highlights the importance of OHS management strategies in culinary education, demonstrating that effective integration of OHS into the curriculum can improve students' job readiness and minimize risks in professional kitchen settings. These findings offer valuable insights for curriculum development in culinary education institutions and for safety management practices in the culinary industry.

How Nursing Home Professionals Frame the Perspective on Residents' Safety Management: A Q-Methodology Approach.

To identify a frame of reference for resident safety management in nursing homes. Q-methodology. This study was conducted using Q-methodology to identify shared perspectives about resident safety management among nursing home professionals. Data were collected from 13 May 2023, through 29 August 2023. Thirty-four professionals, including nurses, care workers, social workers and physical therapists, classified Q-samples into a normal distribution grid through Q-sorting. Data analysis was performed using the PQmethod programme. Q-factors were interpreted by integrating interview transcripts, demographic data and factor arrays that organised the analysis results. The analysis included the Q-sort of 33 professionals, with an average age of 46.03 years and 6.53 years of nursing home experience, after excluding one individual who did not fit any Q-factor. Four Q factors explaining 63% of the total variance were identified: constructing individualised possible risk trajectories, utilising ingrained safety principles, creating supportive safety environments and coordinating safety principles with individual needs. Understanding the diverse subjectivities of professionals can help develop strategies that promote collaboration among nursing home professionals and support preventive safety management practices. The frame of reference derived from nursing home professionals' perspectives suggests a resident-tailored framework. This study supports the development of interprofessional education tailored to the specific needs of nursing home settings by identifying shared perspectives among nursing home professionals. The findings highlight the need for clear guidelines to help professionals balance resident autonomy with safety and assess the impact of family involvement. Constructing Safety Management Systems in Modern Industry and Trade Enterprises: A STAMP-Based Approach

With the burgeoning landscape of new enterprises and business paradigms, industrial and trade enterprises are facing escalating pressure to ensure operational safety. Conventional safety management mechanisms have proven to be inadequate for adapting to the dynamic market demands and intricacies of modern production environments. To improve safety management practices, this study integrates complex network theory to dissect the causal chains underlying accidents in industry and trade enterprises. A network model is established to elucidate the factors contributing to accidents and leverage datasets from safety inspections to construct a repository of latent safety risks. To address deficiencies in extant safety frameworks, a comprehensive safety management evaluation system is formulated, comprising ten primary evaluation indices and 30 secondary metrics. Based on the established frameworks, such as ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS), standardized safety production protocols, and risk hierarchical management and control systems and hidden hazard identification and treatment systems (dual prevention systems), a holistic safety management system (SMS) is synthesized on the basis of system-theoretic accident model and process (STAMP) theory. This systematic approach culminates in a robust framework tailored to modern industrial and trade enterprises, fostering flexibility and efficacy in safety management capabilities. This case analysis underscores the model’s ability to enhance its safety management proficiency, thereby amplifying its relevance in fortifying enterprise operations and fostering sustainable growth. This study represents a pivotal step toward augmenting safety management capacities within the industrial and trade enterprises to safeguard enterprise vitality and advance sustainable business practices.

Impact of Resilience Engineering on Physical Symptoms of Construction Workers

Physical symptoms plague construction workers and pose threats to safety performance and productivity. Following the resilience engineering (RE) principles, recent construction safety management practices enhance construction workers’ safety capability and safety management system resilience. This paper established an exploratory structural model explaining how construction workers’ safety capability alleviates their physical and psychological symptoms through safety management system resilience. To validate and estimate the structural model, 741 valid responses from construction workers based in Shanghai, China were obtained. Given no established scales for the constructs in the model, a cross-validation procedure, consisting of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and path analysis, was performed. The results showed that although neither safety capability nor safety management system resilience has direct negative impacts on physical symptoms, they can reduce physical symptoms via alleviating psychological symptoms. Furthermore, safety capability can reduce psychological and physical symptoms via safety management system resilience. This paper therefore suggests that cultivating construction workers’ safety capability would be the first step in implementing resilience engineering principles in construction. The continuous implementation of cost-effective and tailored resilience training programs are suggested to enhance construction workers’ safety capability. Safety management systems are suggested to improve with the fostering of a just culture and emerging technologies.

A Comprehensive Review of Food Safety Culture in the Food Industry: Leadership, Organizational Commitment, and Multicultural Dynamics.

Food safety culture (FSC) has transitioned from a narrow compliance-based concept to a comprehensive organisational value that is essential for ensuring food safety. This review explores the pivotal roles of leadership, organisational commitment, and cultural diversity in shaping an effective FSC. It highlights how leadership style, particularly transformational leadership, can enhance employee engagement and foster a proactive safety culture. Additionally, the impact of national and organisational cultures on FSC is analysed, emphasising the challenges posed by a multicultural workforce in standardising food safety practices. This article also provides a comparative analysis of FSC across various sectors, such as meat and dairy processing, identifying sector-specific challenges and best practices. In particular, high-risk sectors tend to exhibit a stronger FSC due to regulatory pressure, while other sectors struggle with issues like communication and employee ownership. The importance of integrating behavioural training with cultural considerations is underscored as a key strategy for sustaining a positive FSC. For maintaining a strong FSC, tailored approaches, which account for cultural and operational differences, are necessary for improving food safety outcomes. This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights for industry professionals and policymakers, offering a foundation for future research and the development of more effective food safety management practices.

Effect of Personality, Individual Characteristics, and Safety Management on Safety Performance at PT PAL Indonesia

Introduction: PT PAL Indonesia is one of the largest shipyard industries in Indonesia, Based on the results of the survey conducted, there were several unsafe acts and unsafe conditions observed. The aims of this study aim to analyze the effect of personality, characteristics of individuals and safety management practices on safety performance of workers in the Commercial Ship Division of PT PAL Indonesia Surabaya. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design and simple random sampling method, involving 104 worker samples from a population of 139 workers. The dependent variable was personal safety performance, while the independent variables were personal awareness, safety management practices safety training and individual characteristics. Primary data were collected through questionnaires, observations and interviews. This study includes univariate analysis, bivariate analysis with Chi-square test and multivariate analysis using logistic regression analysis. Results: Based on the results of logistic regression analysis, the effect of conscientiousness personality with safety performance (ρ=0.013), the effect of safety management practices with safety training (ρ=0.000), the effect of age variables with safety performance (ρ=0.024) and the effect of working period variables with safety performance (ρ=0.024). Conclusion: There are effects of conscientiousness, personality, age, working period, safety management practices, and safety training on safety performance of workers at PT PAL Indonesia in 2023. This research can improve work safety performance by understanding the factors that influence it and companies can design more effective safety strategies.

Building resilience in LNG marine terminal operations: a comprehensive socio-technical risk analysis utilizing the resilience assessment grid (RAG) method

Abstract In the face of rising global energy demand, LNG terminals play an essential role in the energy supply chain. However, the complexity of terminal operations, combined with the risk of catastrophic events, necessitates a robust resilience framework. This paper presents a comprehensive socio-technical resilience analysis that uses the Resilience Assessment Grid (RAG) methodology to measure resilience in LNG terminal operations. We examine the complex interplay of human elements, organizational culture, and technological systems in the terminal environment. Our approach uses the RAG methodology to identify vulnerabilities, assess the potential impact of disruptions, and assess the effectiveness of current safety and risk management practices. The results of this study show that the implementation of the safety concept at the LNG Marine Terminal is quite optimal, as indicated by the compliance figures for each resilience aspect, which exceed three as a benchmark. The highest score in the entire system is found in the ability to respond aspect, namely 4.38, which shows that the organization, in implementing this concept, still focuses on preventing and controlling accidents. This condition differs from the ability to monitor aspect, which has the lowest value, 3.97. However, this item cannot be called an inhibiting factor because its value exceeds the expected standard. In response, there is still room for improvement from existing achievements in the future.

Analisis Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Keselamatan Operasional Kapal di Pelabuhan Merak

The study, titled "Analysis of Factors Affecting Safety at Merak Port," aims to identify and analyze key factors influencing operational safety at Merak Port. This port is a strategic route linking Java and Sumatra, serving millions of passengers and vehicles annually. However, high activity levels and operational complexity present significant safety challenges. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, combining interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Quantitative data were also collected via questionnaires distributed to operators, workers, and passengers. Findings reveal that human factors, weather conditions, and infrastructure are critical to safety. Incidents in 2023, such as the KMP Royce 1 fire and a crane accident, underscore the need for enhanced risk management and infrastructure maintenance. The study concludes that gaps in safety training and compliance with safety procedures are key challenges. Additionally, extreme weather and suboptimal heavy equipment conditions increase operational risks. Recommendations include improving safety management practices, enhancing infrastructure maintenance, and providing regular training for workers to strengthen operational safety at Merak Port.

Understanding the Global Distribution of Groundwater Sulfate and Assessing Population at Risk.

Besides sulfate-induced diarrhea, recent studies have emphasized that groundwater sulfate drives the release of arsenic in groundwater and accelerates water pipeline corrosion. Despite its impact on public health and urban infrastructure, sulfate has been overlooked in water supply research. Here, we used a random forest model to develop a 1 km global map depicting the probability of sulfate exceeding 250 mg/L in groundwater based on the World Health Organization's guidelines. The map was further applied to estimate the exposed population and identify contributors of sulfate exceedance in global hotspot regions. The results revealed that sulfate exceedance in groundwater was widespread in 156 countries. Approximately 194 million people use water with sulfate levels exceeding 250 mg/L. Among them, around 17 million people face groundwater sulfate concentrations surpassing 500 mg/L, with 82% of these individuals residing in ten specific countries. Contributing factor analysis in these countries indicates that annual precipitation and sedimentary rocks are the primary factors contributing to sulfate concentration prediction, while other natural and anthropogenic predictors exhibit region-specific impact patterns. This study uncovered a significant prevalence of elevated sulfate levels in groundwater, highlighting the need to integrate sulfate into water safety management practices.

Role and Impact of Safety Leadership Culture in Promoting Safety Practices in Construction Sector of Pakistan

The construction industry offers employment to about one hundred eighty million people worldwide. The construction sector has grown and evolved to meet the demands of urbanization and industrialization, which are the foundation of the modern economy. Construction is still seen as a risky and difficult industry, with the most hazardous and vulnerable work environment, even with the industry's notable improvements. Pakistan's construction industry is known for its high level of risk, which makes strict safety procedures necessary to protect the health and safety of its workforce. This research seeks to understand the impact of safety leadership on safety practices and identify key factors influencing safety culture. In order to provide comprehensive insights, the research uses a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The validity and reliability of the results are ensured by thorough experimentations of the statistical methods such as reliability test, relative importance index (RII), and descriptive analysis tests. In order to effectively promote safety practices, management commitment, employee involvement, safety training, and good communication are essential. An in-depth examination of the relationship between management commitment and safety performance reveals how effective leadership and proactive participation improve safety results. The results shows that safety leadership is crucial to encourage safety procedures in Pakistan's construction sector by 68.81%, success factor for safety management by 65.42%, safety management practices by 64.32%, safety performance by 63.35%, barriers to effective safety management 62.47% and safety culture by 61.46%. Strengthening frameworks for regulations, promoting a safety-first culture, investing more in safety equipment, improving worker safety training, improving monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, fostering communication and collaboration, and addressing cultural barriers are just a few of the recommendations.

Development of Calculation Method for Full-Time Equivalent Workers per Man-Year to Improve Fatality Rate Estimation

The fatality rate in the construction industry is a key indicator for assessing safety management, with the number of workers being a critical factor in its estimation. Many countries rely on sampling inspections or assumptions to determine the number of workers, which can lead to inaccuracies in evaluating the fatality rate. In this study, we developed a method to calculate the full-time equivalent workers per man-year (FTEWm·y) to more accurately estimate the fatality rate, taking into account building and work types using daily work reports (DWRs). The research process included six steps: (i) selecting a target project; (ii) establishing a database; (iii) developing the FTEWm·y framework based on the DWR; (iv) validating the framework; (v) calculating the FTEWm·y for residential building projects in the Republic of Korea; and (vi) applying the framework. The key findings included the following: the FTEWm·y/USD for residential projects was 1.1 × 10−3 FTEWm·y/USD, with the framework achieving an accuracy of 85.30% and an R2 value of 92.92% through five-fold cross-validation. The FTEWm·y for residential buildings in the Republic of Korea was 4.5 × 107 FTEWm·y, and the fatality rate was 0.011‱. This framework offers a more precise way of evaluating fatality rates by considering specific building and work types, improving safety management practices in the construction industry.

Systematic Literature Review on Knowledge-Driven Approaches for Construction Safety Analysis and Accident Prevention

Due to its inherent complexities in the process and the dynamic interactions with external environmental factors, the construction industry is widely considered one of the most hazardous industries worldwide. With advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), construction safety management practices have increasingly used knowledge-driven approaches. Such incorporation of knowledge-based methods has led to significant improvements in various elements of construction safety management systems, including hazard identification and risk assessment, selection of risk mitigation strategies, analysis of accident information, sharing of health and safety knowledge, access to regulations, and identification of applicable safety requirements. Against this background, this paper presents a systematic literature review to provide an overview of the current state of the art in the use of knowledge-driven approaches in construction safety management. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) procedure, this study reviews how the knowledge-driven approach is utilized in the construction safety management field to automate different activities that come under it. Journal papers published from 2000 were considered for this review, and the analysis focused on the contributions of research, the evolution of knowledge-driven approaches, sources of incorporated knowledge, methods of system development, yearly publications, and publication by journals. The results provide a comparison of related studies over two decades and offer insights into trends and gaps in this research field. Notably, the trend analysis shows a dramatic increase in the number, as well as the depth, of research efforts utilizing AI techniques for analyzing unstructured data, such as construction images and texts from construction documents, and drawing data-based decisions for accident prevention.

Improved Production Process Map and Safety of Millet‐Based Fermented Beverage

ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to develop a standardized process map to produce a microbiologically safe and consumer‐acceptable Brukina beverage. Field interactions and observations were employed for the baseline data, while an improved production process was developed and utilized to produce a Brukina beverage. The microbial safety of the new approach was assessed by determining the total coliform, yeast and mold, as well as Staphylococcus aureus. A consumer preference test was conducted to validate the contribution of the improved and hygienic steps to the overall acceptability. The existing production processes for manufacturing Brukina beverage did not embrace Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and as such, the resultant beverage was contaminated with coliforms and S. aureus. Moreover, the sensory characteristics including taste, mouthfeel, viscosity and overall acceptability, were negatively affected. The inclusion of food safety management practices and efficient production steps has a greater tendency of producing microbiologically safe and market‐acceptable fermented millet‐based beverages while safeguarding consumers’ health and satisfaction.

IMPROVING ROAD SAFETY AT ACCIDENT-PRONE AREAS: A COMPARISON BETWEEN GLOW-IN-THE-DARK AND CONVENTIONAL ROAD MARKING

Driving at night is challenging due to poor vision, poor road visual guidance, and the need to encounter bright light sources. Factors like lack of street lighting, fading, and lack of reflectivity by road studs and retro-reflective materials affect road users' vision at night. Commentators have pointed out there is a critical demand to improve road safety in preventing road accidents and hazards that caused by the poor visibility of road markings and inadequacy lighting. Although road safety management has been given an important focus by the Ministry of Transportation Malaysia to achieve 50% reduction of road accidents by 2030, there is a critical demand to improve the present road markings method to overcome the issues of poor visibility or unclear road markings and inadequacy lighting that may trigger potential hazards to road users at night, with a new innovative road marking technology. Therefore, this paper is prepared with the objective to present the outcome of comparative study between the present conventional road markings and the newly innovative technology of glow-in-the-dark method with specific reference to the road safety management in Malaysia. This study employed a questionnaire survey to interview fifty-one (51) respondents that have experience of driving at night, with the objectives to get their opinions on present condition of road markings in Malaysia, and how the newly innovative technology glow-in-the-dark can improve road safety in Malaysia. The study outcome revealed that the glow-in-the-dark is deemed appropriate to enhance the visibility during low-light conditions as compared to the present conventional road markings. Although the initial cost is higher, the economic advantages of glow-in-the-dark in reducing the streetlight usage, lower electrical costs, and substantially extended lifespan have made this newly innovative road marking outweighed the downsides and economically wise choice to revolutionize road safety management practice at the accident-prone areas in Malaysia for achieving the SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Learning-based framework for industrial accident prevention: fuzzy cognitive mapping approach

PurposeDespite efforts to improve safety management practices in industrial companies, major accidents seem to be inevitable. Many accidents still occur because companies are unable to learn from past occurrences due to ineffective incident and accident learning processes. This study proposes a learning-based framework for industrial accidents investigation and contributes to accident prevention research.Design/methodology/approachThe proposed learning process includes the analysis of the industrial accident using the Event Tree Analysis (ETA) method, capitalisation of causative factors using the Swiss Cheese Model (SCM), and finally modelling the relationships among the accident causative factors and analysing their causality using the Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) technique and running learning scenarios.FindingsThe proposed learning process was applied to an industrial accident, and the results showed that human unsafe behaviours and unsafe supervision were the principal causative factors of the blowout accident.Practical implicationsThe proposed learning-based framework provides a structured approach for oil and gas companies to systematically analyse and learn from past accidents, enhancing their prevention strategies. Theoretically, the framework bridges the gap between theory and practice by demonstrating how established accident analysis methods can be combined and applied in a real-world industrial context.Originality/valueThe proposed learning process combines accident analysis and investigation techniques with simulations for an in-depth and robust learning-based framework for accident prevention.

The survey entitled “Field Survey of Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) Transportation Maintenance Technicians (TMTs) Perception of Worker Safety” investigates the safety perceptions and concerns of maintenance workers within ALDOT through a multifaceted analysis approach. The findings reveal critical insights that can significantly enhance ALDOT’s safety practices, training programs, and overall safety culture. Disparities in safety perceptions across different ALDOT’s areas were found, emphasizing the need for ALDOT to tailor its strategies to meet the unique needs of each area, ensuring that safety measures are both relevant and effective. The study emphasizes the importance of implementing targeted interventions focused on high-risk activities and prevalent safety concerns, allowing ALDOT to prioritize resources effectively. Additionally, the research highlights the necessity for continuous improvement by regularly evaluating safety initiatives based on feedback and best practices. This ongoing evaluation ensures that safety measures remain relevant and effective in addressing the evolving needs of TMTs. By integrating these insights into its safety management practices, ALDOT can cultivate a more proactive and resilient work environment that not only addresses immediate safety concerns but also establishes a sustainable culture of safety prioritizing employee well-being. The study provides a roadmap for future improvements in workplace safety and initiates discussions on the implications and recommendations for enhancing ALDOT’s and other transportation agencies’ safety management practices.
