Management and Utilization Strategies of Educational Management Information Systems to Enhance Students' Academic Performance

Conventional educational management systems often face limitations in handling student data, curriculum, and other academic processes, leading to difficulties in effectively monitoring and enhancing students' academic performance. With the rapid advancement of information technology, the use of management information systems in educational contexts has become increasingly crucial. This research aims to examine the management and utilization strategies of management information systems in enhancing students' academic performance. The methodology employed in this research is a literature review using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis. Descriptive analysis is utilized to present characteristics, patterns, and trends emerging from data obtained from articles published on Google Scholar between 2007 and 2024. Theme identification is one of the research data analysis techniques. The main themes in the article were identified, focussing on aspects such as information systems, education management, and student academic performance. The study results indicate that the utilization of Management Information Systems (MIS) has demonstrated a significant role in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness across various fields, including education. In the educational context, the management of MIS can be a key factor in improving students' academic performance

The purpose of this research is to explain the performance of the school institution that uses the management of academic information system (AIS management effectiveness, Culture ICT, ICT facilities and the quality of the Human resources) on the performance of the institution; partially include: effectiveness of management on the performance of Academic Information Systems agencies; ICT culture on the performance of the institution; availability of ICT facilities for the performance of the institution; and quality of human resources Academic Information System on the performance of the institution. This study used a descriptive analytical method. The data used are primary and secondary data obtained through surveys and documentation. The data analysis techniques-quantitative analysis examines the effectiveness of management, ICT culture, availability of ICT facilities, and quality of human resources for the school's performance and its impact on the academic achievement of students in schools in the city of Jambi, as object of study. A Sugeno ANFIS Model Based on Fuzzy Factor Analysis for IS/IT Project Portfolio Risk Prediction

Risk inherence jeopardises Information System (IS) and Information Technology (IT) Project Portfolio Management (PPM) to realise thestrategic objectives. Previous studies have mainly provided Artificial Intelligence (AI) and statistical models to predict the overall riskof IS/IT project portfolio, whereas neuro-fuzzy models were rarely used. This paper proposes a Sugeno Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy InferenceSystem (ANFIS) model based on Fuzzy Factor Analysis (FFA) named ANFIS-OPR to predict the overall risk of IS/IT project portfolio fromhistorical IS/IT project risk data. The ANFIS-OPR inputs are the relevant factor loadings resulting from the FFA application on the IS/IT projects risks set to cope with the curse of dimensionality. Then, the Sugeno ANFIS model is adopted to give strategic interpretability to the predicted IS/IT project portfolio overall risk by implementing the IS/IT Project Management Office (PMO) expert knowledge, represented by fuzzy rules, on the relationship between IS/IT project portfolio strategic alignment and the IS/IT projects risks. The ANFISOPR outputs are the predicted Overall Portfolio Risk (OPR) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The paper also presents an IS/IT PMO case study that shows the proposed ANFIS-OPR efficacy, which predicted the OPR values closely to the OPR estimates with an accepted RMSE of 0.108. The proposed ANFIS-OPR is a novel intelligent decision-making tool that enables the IS/IT PMO to monitor the OPR, considering its linkage with strategic alignment; thus, contingency plans can be carried out appropriately while ensuring that the IS/IT project portfolio is strategically aligned.

The Influence of Management Accounting Information System Characteristics and Management Control System on Managerial Performance

Several things that can affect and improve managerial performance at PT Warna Indah Samajaya (WIS), one of which is the characteristics of the management accounting information system and management control system. The characteristics of the management accounting information system that have been carried out by employees of PT Warna Indah Samajaya (WIS) have been implemented properly and correctly to carry out effective work so that they can achieve the predetermined targets. This study aims to determine the effect of the characteristics of the management accounting information system and control system on managerial performance at PT Warna Indah Samajaya (WIS). This research was conducted by means of a survey by distributing questionnaires to employees of PT Warna Indah Samajaya (WIS), this study also used a verification descriptive analysis method by statistically processing using SEM-PLS. The results of this research are expected to be a solution in solving problems of managerial performance at PT Warna Indah Samajaya (WIS). The results of this study indicate that: (1) the characteristics of the accounting information system affect managerial performance, (2) the control system has an effect on managerial performance.

Despite a plethora of Edtech companies in India, a different business model and services offered gave them an edge over other Edtech companies. To keep up with the customer needs, they were constantly making the upgrades to their technology and expanding their services. Vidhu Goyal, the founder of the company, was enjoying the progress when another development in the technology hit the world. With the launch of applications based on artificial intelligence, will it disrupt the business or not? Enterprise Audit Risk Assessment and Prevention based on AHP Analysis

If there are no auditing standards or auditing processes of big data, the audit risks of enterprises are increased. This paper first introduces the topic through the research background and literature review in order to ensure the integrity and accuracy of audit evidence to the maximum extent, and then analyses the causes of enterprise audit risk. When analysing the risk level of material misstatement, it is mainly the audit risk generated by the enterprise's unique business model, information system and financial management. Audit risk is mainly caused by the ability of auditors and audit process management. After quantitative analysis of the correctness of enterprise audit risk assessment indicators, this paper builds a multi-level comprehensive assessment model of enterprise audit risk on the basis of AHP analysis. At the same time, this paper puts forward specific measures to improve audit methods and audit processes and prevent audit risks in view of the actual problems encountered in the current audit risk of enterprises, so as to provide certain references for enterprise risk management and control.

Risk management in large-scale information system projects

This article deals with project management in information systems, whose relevance lies in the vital importance of these systems in modern companies. Information systems are essential for decision making and data management in today's interconnected world. Project management, on the other hand, coordinates elements such as scope, resources, costs, schedules and risks to achieve defined objectives. The systems development life cycle (SDLC) structures the process, encompassing phases such as scope definition, planning, execution, monitoring and closure. These phases are integrated with risk management, which identifies, evaluates and mitigates threats and opportunities. Mitigation strategies act before adversity, while contingency planning prepares for the unforeseen. That is why risk management is integrated throughout the project life cycle to anticipate and address challenges. The combination of both aspects is critical in a constantly evolving technology environment. In addition, organizational culture and communication play a critical role. A culture of awareness and accountability, transparency in communication and active stakeholder participation are essential. Training and continuous adaptation allow learning from past experiences and improving practices.

Integration of Geospatial Data and Information in Margoluwih Village, Yogyakarta and Its Utilization for Multiple Stakeholders

As technology develops, geospatial information has been used for policy-making and decision-making. One of the geospatial technologies used is the Geographic Information System, which has been widely built and utilized by related agencies up to the village or district level. This article explains the strategy and parties involved in developing geospatial data and information integration in Margoluwih District and the benefits for these parties. The research method uses descriptive-qualitative data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this paper show that geospatial data and information created by various parties can be integrated into an information system. The parties involved in providing data and receiving benefits from the development information system are the National Land Academy, Margoluwih District Government, Land Office of Sleman Regency, Land and Spatial Planning Office of Sleman Regency, Regional Financial and Asset Agency of Sleman Regency, UPTD Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries Extension Center Region III, Margoluwih Village Community Institution, and the Margoluwih Village Community. This indicates that the integration carried out provides benefits for multiple parties. The Margoluwih District Government, as data regent or information system manager, is expected to always maintain and update information independently and sustainably.

Examining Technology Use and Competence of Higher Education Academics During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Objectives: The present study describes the utilization frequency and competencies of educational technologies among academics at a university in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Participants were 391 faculty members and lecturers working in the faculties and vocational schools of a Turkish university during the 2020–2021 academic year. A survey included questions regarding the use of educational technologies and perceived competency in the use of those technologies. Results: Academics are more familiar with distance education than hybrid or blended learning. Academics reported that blended learning, hybrid learning, and distance education provide more effective education on integrating technology but report that they mostly prefer face-to-face teaching after the COVID-19 pandemic. The top three self-reported competencies are MS Office, the university academic information system, and meeting and course management tools. More information is needed about educational technology approaches and various applications such as augmented reality, simulations, assessments, and video tools. Conclusion: Faculty use of digital tools is limited, they experience significant deficiencies in using various digital tools and systems, and they are less competent in applying these tools. Academics still consider traditional face-to-face teaching as the primary choice if they are free to make decisions in the context of education and training. Thus, there is a need for professional development focused on pedagogical educational technology approaches, models, and methodologies. Implications: Various factors such as the course type, subject matter, education level, technical infrastructure, and technological and methodological support should be evaluated within the context of digitizing universities.

Barriers and Facilitators to Collecting Surgical Outcome Data in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: An International Survey

Background: Perioperative data are essential to improve the safety of surgical care. However, surgical outcome research (SOR) from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) is disproportionately sparse. We aimed to assess practices, barriers, facilitators, and perceptions influencing the collection and use of surgical outcome data (SOD) in LMICs. Methods: An internet-based survey was developed and disseminated to stakeholders involved in the care of surgical patients in LMICs. The Performance of Routine Information Systems Management framework was used to explore the frequency and relative importance of organizational, technical, and behavioral barriers. Associations were determined using χ 2 and ANOVA analyses. Results: Final analysis included 229 surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and administrators from 36 separate LMICs. A total of 58.1% of individuals reported that their institution had experience with collection of SOD and 73% of these reported a positive impact on patient care. Mentorship and research training was available in <50% of respondent’s institutions; however, those who had these were more likely to publish SOD (P = 0.02). Sixteen barriers met the threshold for significance of which the top 3 were the burden of clinical responsibility, research costs, and accuracy of medical documentation. The most frequently proposed solutions were the availability of an electronic data collection platform (95.3%), dedicated research personnel (93.2%), and access to research training (93.2%). Conclusions: There are several barriers and facilitators to collection of SOD that are common across LMICs. Most of these can be addressed through targeted interventions and are highlighted in this study. We provide a path towards advancing SOR in LMICs.

The Roles of Data Management and Pentahelix in Accelerating Development of Village Communities

In various cases in villages, data is not collected properly, is not up-to-date and is not accurate. This study project’s aims to analyze the role of village management and validity of village data in accelerating development in rural communities. A qualitative descriptive method with fifty respondents from 17 villages that were successfully sampled in Bali and 9 key informants interviewed provided information related to the management of information and data systems in Cepaka Village Kediri Tabanan. The findings of this project are 1) Updating village community data is the top priority for each village so that the program launched by the government reaches the target community in need. 2) Continous public sducation about the validity of data is very important in disbursing government assistance that is right on target. 3) Competence of human resources in handling village information systems needs to be improved. 4) The availability of facilities and infrasctucture to support the village information system is absolute. 5) The collaboration of several stakeholder in the PENTAHELIX concept helps accelerate updating of village data. The conclusion of this project is that data management and PENTAHELIX contributions play an important role in accerelating developments of the village.

Factors Influencing the Effectiveness of Information System Governance in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) through a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) Approach

This research aims to investigate the factors that influence the effectiveness of Information Systems (IS) Governance in Higher Education Institutions (IPT) using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The background of this research reflects the importance of IS in supporting operations, management and decision making in a higher education environment that is increasingly complex and dependent on technology.The PLS-SEM method analyzes the relationship between key variables that influence the effectiveness of IS governance at IPT. It is a powerful multivariate statistical approach that allows factor analysis and regression in a single framework, allowing researchers to holistically understand how factors relate to each other. The results of this research will likely provide valuable insight for decision-makers at IPT in improving IS management and utilization. Practical implications include the development of more effective policies, better management strategies, and improved IS infrastructure. In addition, this research is also expected to provide an essential contribution to academic literature in understanding the factors that influence the effectiveness of IS governance in the higher education context. By better understanding the factors that influence the effectiveness of IS governance, IPT can increase its competitiveness, improve the quality of educational services, and support the achievement of its strategic goals. This research is expected to significantly contribute to understanding how IS governance can be implemented and managed more effectively in higher education environments through the PLS-SEM approach.

Optimizing Information System Management in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises: A COBIT 5 Framework Approach for Enhanced Quality

This study aims to establish a framework for governing information systems in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), focusing on decision-making processes in advanced and emerging MSME clusters. COBIT 5 is employed to identify variables and guide the research stages. The research will specifically examine MSMEs located in Bandung District. The evaluation of governance quality for each target, which includes Nurtured MSMEs and Advanced MSMEs, involves utilizing the Process Assessment Model (PAM) derived from COBIT 5. In addition to gathering preliminary data through interviews and surveys conducted in Bandung District, this initial investigation also involved a comparative analysis of various methods employed in prior research about the study's subject matter. The findings from this study reveal that the data processing procedures for MSMEs in the Bandung Regency involve the use of computer/laptop devices. However, certain MSMEs face challenges in adequately managing the acquired data, emphasizing the necessity for more effective data management to ensure the produced data attains the quality required for constructing a model for advanced MSMEs. On the contrary, some other MSMEs in the Bandung Regency exhibit proficient data management practices, conducting regular evaluations of data and information, and basing their decisions on the analyzed data. These two scenarios serve as benchmarks for understanding the decision-making processes of both emerging and advanced MSMEs about data. The aspiration is that the outcomes of this study can serve as a benchmark, offering best practices for MSMEs to enhance the quality of their Decision-Making and achieve excellence in their business operations.

Penerapan Sistem Informasi Persediaan Stok Umbi Porang Berbasis Android Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kinerja Pelaporan

Porang tubers are a type of food plant in which there are carbohydrates and proteins as a source of human energy. Indonesia is an agrarian country with a large agricultural area, so most of the population make a living as farmers. PT. Barokah Rizky Abadi is one of the companies engaged in agriculture, especially the sale of tubers that focuses on selling porang tubers. Stock inventory system at PT. Barokah Rizky Abadi uses manual recording of tuber stocks, namely from bookkeeping, and has not been equipped with system device information to manage the inventory of porang tubers, this is considered less effective and less accurate. From these problems, an Android-based application was made that can help in doing agency work, especially the warehousing department. The method used is a qualitative method with a Research and Development (R&D) strategy with flowcharts, DFD, and ERD so that the management of information systems is more systematic. ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE MANAGEMENT OF WORK UNITS IN XYZ AGENCIES WITH THE COBIT FRAMEWORK 2019

Information Technology (IT) governance has become an important topic in information system management because it can affect the ability of companies/organizations and government agencies to achieve goals. Maturity level assessment in the Information and Communication Technology Division (Div TIK) work unit needs to be carried out in order to determine the current condition of IT governance. Maturity level measurement is carried out using the COBIT 2019 framework, namely by mapping organizational goals into COBIT 2019 so that related domains are obtained. Measuring the level of maturity in the Div TIK work unit shows that there are 8 process domains. The EDM01, APO07, APO08, BAI01, and MEA04 domains are at level 3 while the APO04, BAI11, and DSS04 domains are at level 4. Measuring the value of the gap between the current maturity level and the expected maturity level is also carried out. The biggest discrepancy value is in the APO04 domain with a value of 1.48, and the smallest is in the APO07 domain with a value of 0.59. Analysis of improvements that can be carried out to increase the maturity level include periodically assessing whether the agreed IT governance mechanisms are operating effectively; conducting regular reviews to assess skills evolution; and controlling IT services, assets and resources.

The purpose of the research is to learn about the management and development of management information systems in the police offices. This method is aimed at gaining a deep understanding of the problem rather than making generalizations. Observations, interviews, literature, and questionnaires are some of the methods of gathering data. The conclusion that the author can take after completing the Document Management Information System and Public Service at the City Resort Police Office Tebing High is as follows, facilitating the City resort Police Office in the preparation of reports, public services and facilitates in the search for documents. The proposed system uses a database that helps to organize the data of complaints reports and public services so that the data are integrated together as well as facilitated in the process of search, retrieval of the necessary data. With this application will be able to generate a percentage of crime in the area of the Resort Police Office of Tebing High City according to the number of criminal cases

Performance Evaluation on Agricultural Counseling Agents in Palopo City and Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

Having a key part in a nation’s economy, agriculture has been striving with innovations for global needs. Competent agricultural counseling agents are among them as they function to modernize farmers in terms of knowledge, skill, and technology by transforming their ways of thinking, work ethics, attitudes, and behaviors. This study researched 117 respondents in Palopo City and Luwu Regency. Organized as per Likert scale, data was run through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) by employing Smart-PLS application. The result on Hypothesis 1 came out with tStatistic 3.286 > tTable 1.986 with P value of 0.002 < 0.05 – in other words, agricultural counseling agent’s competence is positively and significantly influential towards agricultural counseling agent’s performance. As of Hypothesis 2, the result was tStatistic 2.312 > tTable 1.986 with P value of 0.021 < 0.05 – this indicates that agricultural counseling information system management is positively and significantly influential towards agricultural counseling agent’s performance. It is therefore recommended to optimize both agricultural counseling agent’s competence and agricultural counseling information system management to improve the performance of agricultural counseling agents in Palopo City and Luwu Regency.

School Effectiveness: Institutional Benchmarking for Vocational High School Management

The disruption era presents a challenge for schools in the form of educational graduate standards in comparison to industry and the workforce. The government responded by instituting a policy of vocational schools to produce superior human resources. The adaptive strategy implemented is one of long-term quality improvement through the measurement of organizational performance using benchmarking models. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of benchmarking techniques in improving educational services in Public Vocational High School. The research is qualitative in nature, employing case study techniques. The veracity of the data is checked using sources of principals, school public relation, and senior teacher. Data triangulation techniques and peer discussion were used to examining the data. The study's findings demonstrate technical benchmarking implementation through planning, analysis, integration, implementation, and maturity is known as institutionalist benchmarking. Benchmarking strategies for sustainable organizations are implemented concurrently through vision adaptation, mission and objectives toward strategic environments; benchmarking targeting focus determination, and goal determination through the fabric of school superior partnerships. Adaptation of the benchmarking outcomes program results in actualizing educational information system management, peer tutoring techniques, optimization of research activities, and strengthening internal supervision. In addition, interviews are the only method used to collect data for this study. Therefore, future research will investigate the school institution of others in Indonesia, particularly the development of vocational schools that have already integrated science and skill competencies.
