Evaluation of Improvements in the Construction Production Process with the Implementation of Sustainability Indicators

Objective: To investigate the adoption of sustainability indicators in civil construction, highlighting advantages and challenges. Theoretical Framework: In this topic, the main concepts and theories that underlie the research are presented. The environmental legislation pertaining to civil construction and the environmental indicators of the construction site already studied by other authors are highlighted. Method: The implementation of this Sustainability Program aimed to carry out activities that would help maintain the balance of the construction of the enterprise with the maintenance of natural resources, in addition to bringing employees closer to the socio-environmental theme. Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that it is possible to implement an environmental sustainability program in a construction site and achieve the goals of the indicators. Research Implications: Investigating the feasibility of other sustainability certifications and standards can broaden the scope of application of sustainable practices in civil construction. Originality/Value: This study allowed the systematic analysis of the data, showing that sustainable technology was effectively applied in the enterprise. In addition, he highlighted the positive social and environmental impact on employees, reinforcing the idea that it is feasible to build while preserving natural resources for future generations.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT AND JUSTICE SYSTEM IN BANGLADESH: ISSUES AND LEGAL FRAMEWORK

This paper presents environmental justice in Bangladesh which is connected with the human development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies. Environmental justice means the fair treatment of all people without discrimination of race, color, national origin and also include the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Environmental justice is very essential for the human rights which effects human lives as well as sustainable development of the country. Environmental justice also include protection against natural disasters, mass displacement, maintenance of natural resources, protection against health threats and livelihood of the Human being. Environmental justice ensures all people’s enjoyment of human rights, economic development, health protection above all healthy environment for life. There are also various environmental issues like global warming, over population, Waste disposal, Ocean acidification, loss of biodiversity, deforestation which are harmful for human lives. The Environmental problems in Bangladesh are climate change, cyclone, flood, drought, earthquake, riverbank erosion, air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, and noise pollution etc. Environmental Justice System is the burning issues of the world and human existence depends on the sustainable development of the environment.
 

Urban Land Consolidation Policy in the Context of Creating a Good Environment According to Spatial Planning in Indonesia

The research aims to understand how urban land consolidation can solve these problems and improve environmental quality and maintenance of natural resources by involving active community participation. The research method is qualitative, with documentation techniques as one of the data collection methods, by viewing and analyzing documents created by the subject himself or other people about the topic. Data analysis, which consists of three main activities, namely data presentation, data reduction, and conclusion drawing/verification, is a series of activities inseparable from one another. This research shows that the primary substance in land consolidation is that community participation is necessary to donate part of their land, which will then be used to construct public and social facilities. Therefore, it is essential to socialize land consolidation with land rights holders or participants so that they understand the process and mechanism for implementing the land consolidation project correctly. With this understanding, urban land consolidation can be a problem solver and solution for creating a suitable living environment according to spatial planning and making land available for public and social purposes.

Sasi Labuang (Petuanan Negeri) sebagai Bentuk Perlindungan Terhadap Biota Laut Di Negeri Adat

Sasi is a community tradition that has substantive legal value, namely it is a temporary prohibition against taking forest or marine products until a certain time. Sasi can be said to have legal value, because it has norms or rules relating to methods, customs, codes of conduct and customs which contain elements of ethics and norms. All maintenance of natural resources is supervised by traditional institutions such as kings, soa heads, saniri, kewang and marinyo. However, those who play a more important role in maintaining these natural resources are the kewang and the kewang's children who function as forest rangers. Kewang plays an important role, because it is one of the elements of government which is tasked with protecting the environment both on land and at sea from the hands of irresponsible people. Sasi is a tradition that is still well maintained to this day in several existing traditional countries. in Maluku, the same thing happens in Hulaliu country, where sasi still exists, but is used for plant sasi, such as Coconut Tree sasi. In preserving the environment, currently there is a lot of environmental damage due to the actions of irresponsible people. The sasi custom can play a role in preventing this. Sasi is a combination of custom and religion and sasi is also a sacred custom.

This literature review article results from the bibliographical analysis on the study related to the management of water resources in the city of Rio de Janeiro and part of the Baixada Fluminense, supplied by the Guandu system. The constant monitoring of water quality points to several reasons for its degradation. Industrial and residential pollution is associated with illegal occupation of its banks, industrial operations that do not comply with environmental legislation. The Public Ministry is constitutionally responsible for protecting the environment. The supply history, the analysis of the problems faced and the importance of the pigeon pea river for the state. Actions for its preservation and sustainable development in the region. The foundation of development with planned actions between the state and society. This study encompasses the Water Treatment Plant, the transposition of the waters of the Paraíba do Sul River and the management of water resources in this system from a legal perspective, where environmental planning and rational use for the preservation of water resources are fundamental. for the environment and the maintenance of natural resources as an asset of the population of the State of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.

Influence of hydraulic jigging of construction and demolition waste recycled aggregate on hardened concrete properties

abstract: Concern with the maintenance of natural resources has increased research about recycled aggregates for concrete production. However, the heterogeneity of recycled aggregates is one of the main constraints for their use in practice, because it can generate variability in concrete properties, hence reducing their final quality. Then, the jigging has been seen as a promising way of improving recycled aggregate quality. This paper aimed to evaluate its use for better application in concrete. A modified jig was used to sort recycled coarse aggregates. Concrete were produced with water/cement ratio from 0.5 and 100% of recycled coarse aggregate. The recycled aggregate properties upgrade were achieved and the results of compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of recycled concrete made with aggregate which were submitted to jigging were increased, indicating a potential application in wide scale.

How do Stakeholders Perceive the Sustainability and Resilience of EU Farming Systems?

SummaryAn increasing variety of stresses and shocks provides challenges and opportunities for EU farming systems. This article presents findings of a participatory assessment on the sustainability and resilience of eleven EU farming systems, to inform the design of adequate and relevant strategies and policies. According to stakeholders that participated in workshops, the main functions of farming systems are related to food production, economic viability and maintenance of natural resources. Performance of farming systems assessed with regard to these and five other functions was perceived to be moderate. Past strategies were often geared towards making the system more profitable, and to a lesser extent towards coupling production with local and natural resources, social self‐organisation, enhancing functional diversity, and facilitating infrastructure for innovation. Overall, the resilience of the studied farming systems was perceived as low to moderate, with robustness and adaptability often dominant over transformability. To allow for transformability, being reasonably profitable and having access to infrastructure for innovation were viewed as essential. To improve sustainability and resilience of EU farming systems, responses to short‐term processes should better consider long‐term processes. Technological innovation is required, but it should be accompanied with structural, social, agro‐ecological and institutional changes.

PERAN MASYARAKAT DESA SEJAHTERA DALAM PENGELOLAAN WISATA HUTAN MANGROVE DI KECAMATAN SUKADANA KABUPATEN KAYONG UTARA

The community role is needed in the implementation of mangrove forest tourism management, especially in planning activities. The role of the community is the involvement of community itself in the development activities, both in the planning, implementation, evaluation, and the stages of esnjoying the results of the development itself. The purpose in this descriptive qualitative study was to determine the role of community in managing mangrove forest tourism in the subdistrict of Sukadana of Kayong Utara regency. Data collection techniques consist of observation, interviews, and documentation. While the analysis was carried out with descriptive analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the role of of the sejahtera village community in managing mangrove forest tourism is limited to the maintenance of natural resources, maintenance of cleanliness and nursery of mangrove forests. Due to mangrove forest management is still fully managed by The Gunung Palung National Park Agency, the role of the community in the management of tourism in mangrove forests is still low. Therefore, the involvement of the surrounding community needs special attention and other related parties in utilizing mangrove forest tourism.Keyword: community role, mangrove forest, themanagement of mangrove tourism

Design of urban parks

City parks, built during the Soviet period, do not meet the requirements. Parks form the culture of the city and affect the physical and spiritual health of a person. Designing parks that meet the requirements is an important task, the solution of which involves a number of functional and town-planning tasks. Today, there is a need to define the basic principles of design, management and control, creation and maintenance of natural resources. Parks should correspond to modern technologies; high-tech materials should be used. Innovative technologies and methods of landscape design and construction give the designer much more opportunities to organize the environment of parks. Important tasks in the design of parks are the preservation or restoration of existing landscapes and the creation of new artificial landscapes.

The Importance of the Public Sector in Sustainable Development in Poland

The striving for sustainable development has become the goal of actions undertaken not only by representatives of public authorities and institutions representing this sector, but also representatives of private entities who are increasingly recognizing the benefits and sources of long-term development based on the principles and objectives of sustainable development. These are mainly based on the pursuit of synergy in the three basic areas of activities, i.e., in the economic, social, and environmental dimensions as well as in the maintenance of natural resources. The implementation of these activities is connected with the necessity of incurring financial expenditures, which the government (public sector) does not have in the required value. Therefore, in the process of sustainable development for which the government is responsible, the active participation of the financial sector (banks) is necessary. Achieving results within the alliance of the concept of sustainable development requires the setting of a kind of contract, the parties of which are the government, society, and financial institutions. The purpose of the conducted research is to indicate by which means the government can stimulate economic growth towards its sustainable development.

Impact of Global Climate Change on Pollinator Diversity and Conservation: Current Issues and Future Challenges

Over 75% of the major world crops and 80% of all flowering plant species rely on animal pollinators. Of the hundred or so animal-pollinated crops which make up most of the world's food supply, 15% are pollinated by domestic bees, while at least 80% are pollinated by wild bee species and other wildlife. Most of the 25, 000 to 30, 000 species of bees are effective pollinators, and together with moths, flies, wasps, beetles and butterflies, make up the majority of pollinating species. Vertebrate pollinators include bats, non-flying mammals (several species of monkey, rodents, lemur and tree squirrels etc.) and birds (humming birds, sun birds, honey creepers and some parrot species). Current understanding of pollination process shows that, while an interesting specialized relationship exist between plants and their pollinators, healthy pollination services are best ensured by an abundant diversity of pollinators. Thus, pollinators are essential for diet diversity, biodiversity, and maintenance of natural resources. Pollinators which evolved over million of years, are eroding at a fast rate from the globe. During the past few years, many pollinators especially honey bees have been dying across the globe in unprecedented number and, no one has so far been able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt what the causes may have been. The economic implications of these deaths are immediate because honey bees are integral to the pollination of tens of millions of dollars of cash crops in the world. Despite much of the world's agriculture relying on pollination by honeybees, especially European honeybees, their number across the globe has also declined. Many other pollinators such as digger bees, sweat bees, alkali bees, squash bees, leafcutter bees, carpenter bees, mason bees, and shaggy fuzzy foot bees could also be on decline, but data providing unambiguous documentation of trends are simply not available. Threats to pollinators and the services they provide are perceived to be increasing around the world and are mainly man-made in origin. Climate change could be a major factor in weakening the bees and has affected the pollination of crops in many agricultural areas. An attempt has been made to know the causes behind the decline of pollinators, especially in relation to climate change, their conservation and management and impact of declining pollinator population on horticulture in the changed global scenario.

Hevea Culture - A Potential Economic Growth for the State of Rio de Janeiro

In a world where we discuss sustainability as the central axis of development, it is essential that a country like Brazil takes responsibility to adopt new technologies that contribute to the this sector. Taking advantage of the need that the country has to ally economic growth with social inclusion and maintenance of natural resources, the adoption of technologies that reduce the emission of greenhouse gases is promising. In this sense, stimulate the hevea culture appears to be an important allied in the fight to the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere, since it allows its uptake by the trees. The retaken of this vegetal exploitation in Brazil (specially by the State of Rio de Janeiro), taking the social inclusion as a guiding policy, can be crucial to the fight against poverty and unemployment. This exploitation will allow to create conditions for small farmers to participate in the production chain of natural rubber, raw material extracted from rubber trees.

Dari ‘illah ke maqasid: formula dinamisasi hukum Islam di era kekinian melalui pengembangan konsep maqasid

This article has been pushed by the fact that the reading of classical texts does not involve the conciousness that the texts present not in a hollow space, but in a chamber having its own language, culture, values, social institutions and other patterns of social relations. This is a pure library study; all data sources are in the form of written materials related to the topic that has been set. Then these concepts, with the help of modern literature, are developed in line with the present context. Three things formulated in this study are: the concept of ‘illah, maqasid, and the development of maqasid concepts in order to make Islamic law remain dynamic. The content and the range of meaning of each of the five maqasid formulated by al-Syatibi can bedeveloped due to the demands of the present context. Therefore, the development of content and range of meaning is carried out by this paper. The author put a great effort to put a number of Qur’anic verses as the guide and giver of moral messages. Themes such as religious freedom, the maintenance of natural resources from exploitation and extermination, gender equality, nourishing the generations from neglect, oppression and poverty, and must enable the common sense in all things, in the opinion of the author are able to fill all of the content as well as expand the range of concepts of maqasid in the contemporary era.

Erosão superficial em argissolo amarelo sob cultivo perene e com pousio florestal em área de relevo montanhoso

A Região Serrana Fluminense possui muitas nascentes de água com as maiores áreas de remanescentes da Mata Atlântica do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Para conciliar a preservação ambiental com a intensa produção de olerícolas nessa região de relevo montanhoso, é relevante conhecer e controlar a ação nociva da erosão. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar as perdas de solo por erosão superficial e suas componentes hidrológicas, em uma encosta com aproximadamente 65 cm m- 1 de declividade, em tratamentos sob cultivo de olerícolas em rotação, banana e deixada sob pousio florestal por três anos. O estudo foi realizado em uma microbacia no município de Bom Jardim, instalando-se quatro parcelas experimentais com 88,0 m² (4 x 22 m) de área cada uma, para o monitoramento de perdas de solo, escoamento superficial e dinâmica da água no solo. Foi feita a caracterização do solo, determinando-se características físicas, químicas e mineralógicas. Os resultados indicaram que as maiores perdas por erosão acumulada foram registradas no período de maior precipitação, entre setembro e março, correspondendo a aproximadamente 30 t ha-1 ano-1 no tratamento sob cultivo anual e em torno de 10 t ha-1 ano-1 no tratamento com pousio florestal ainda no primeiro ano de desenvolvimento. Os atributos do solo que melhor se correlacionaram com a erosão foram a textura e o índice de estabilidade dos agregados. Constatou-se que o tempo utilizado nos cultivos e pousios pode dificultar a manutenção dos recursos naturais nesses locais, comprometendo a estabilização dessas encostas e sua vegetação.

In the quest to an environment ecologically balanced, constitutionally granted to the people by the article 225 of Brazilian Constitution, measures of awareness and environmental education have been created by the Public Power, is a order to alert the people as a whole about the risks of degradation and encourage new ways of thinking environment friendly. This consciense of the people is considered to be the right path to be the taken so that preservation may be adopted in a permanent way and so that the people can understand that the maintenance of natural resources is vital to a healthy way of life. The goal of this present article is to demonstrate how the native juridical ordaiment forsees the environmental education and its application in the social midst. So that this article could be properly written, researche jurisprudential and doctrines were made.

Valuing marine parks in a developing country: a case study of the Seychelles

A strategic issue facing many developing economies is the maintenance of natural resources, which are important in ecological terms as well as for providing income from tourism. This paper presents an analysis of the economic value of marine protected areas in the Seychelles. The contingent valuation method (CVM) is used to determine tourists willingness to pay (WTP) for visits to Seychelles' marine national parks. In addition, attitudinal and motivational data are related to respondents' stated economic preferences. Three hundred interviews were conducted in the Seychelles during June 1998 and both tourists having visited a park and a more general population of tourists were surveyed. The results demonstrate that different economic values are predicted for respondents from different countries who display a range of both consumer and citizen behaviour in constructing their preferences. In addition, significantly different WTP amounts are predicted depending on which particular marine parks are visited, and the expectations of visitors to Seychelles. The discussion focuses on exploring how this information may be of use to policy makers in setting a realistic pricing policy for visitors to Marine National Parks in the Seychelles.
