To study the location of autosomal genes in the wallaroo (Macropus robustus), a number of rodent-kangaroo cell hybrids that retained wallaroo autosomes were typed for 24 enzymes. Expression of the kangaroo form of peptidase A (PEPA), mitochondrial malate dehydrogenase (MDH2), and nucleoside phosphorylase (NP) was detected. Chromosome studies and enzyme analysis of hybrids, subclones, and revertants enabled confident assignment of PEPA to chromosome 4 and tentative assignment of MDH2 to chromosome 1 of this species.
