Research on development and application of remote control system for multimedia classroom based on cloud computing

Aiming at many problems of school multimedia classroom management, a remote control system for multimedia classroom based on cloud computing is developed. The system includes cloud computing management platform, network switch, single-chip microcomputer and equipment in the multimedia classrooms. It uses VMware desktop virtualization technology to deploy virtual machine templates of different courses in each classroom through the campus network. It controls all multimedia equipment in each classroom by single-chip microcomputer remote control. In terms of software and hardware, key problems such as multithreading, socket communication and remote control are solved and a single-chip microcomputer is developed to control the classroom equipment through the serial ports automatically. Compared with the traditional system, the system based on cloud computing has the advantages of rapid deployment and unified management. It improves the teaching effects of multimedia course and it reduces the construction and maintenance of multimedia classrooms.

Multi-Objective Optimization for Virtual Machine Allocation and Replica Placement in Virtualized Hadoop

Resource management is a key factor in the performance and efficient utilization of cloud systems, and many research works have proposed efficient policies to optimize such systems. However, these policies have traditionally managed the resources individually, neglecting the complexity of cloud systems and the interrelation between their elements. To illustrate this situation, we present an approach focused on virtualized Hadoop for a simultaneous and coordinated management of virtual machines and file replicas. Specifically, we propose determining the virtual machine allocation, virtual machine template selection, and file replica placement with the objective of minimizing the power consumption, physical resource waste, and file unavailability. We implemented our solution using the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II, which is a multi-objective optimization algorithm. Our approach obtained important benefits in terms of file unavailability and resource waste, with overall improvements of approximately 400 and 170 percent compared to three other optimization strategies. The benefits for the power consumption were smaller, with an improvement of approximately 1.9 percent.

Improving the virtualization of rich applications by combining VNC and streaming protocols at the hypervisor layer

SummaryVirtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions seek to provide a satisfactory user experience at the client side when accessing remote desktop applications, even from mobile devices with limited capabilities. This paper presents a new approach, improving on previous work by the authors, in which a combination of Virtual Network Computing (VNC) and streaming protocols allowed efficient remote web access to virtualized applications within a cloud architecture. The new approach simplifies virtual machine templates, from which virtual machine instances are deployed, by centralizing software modules, greatly simplifying their management. Our new contribution consists of an integrated solution with specific WebM video encoding modules in charge of application visual output processing, an Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) streaming server, and a VNC server. The solution can be installed in the hypervisor of the host machines instead of replicating the servers and modules throughout the guest (virtual) machines that run the virtualized applications. Consequently, their implementations are unique and independent of the operating system of the virtual machines. In short, it is not necessary to provide different implementations for different operating systems, which reduces the complexity of virtual machine templates and greatly simplies platform management. To demonstrate our solution, we have modified the Quick Emulator (QEMU)‐Kernel‐based Virtual Machine (KVM) hypervisor source code accordingly. We also present qualitative and quantitative analyses that demonstrate that the new approach is advantageous in terms of software management and quality of experience, compared with our previous work and other well‐known thin clients, contributing to the enhancement of VDI systems. Enhancing the Performance of Current Online Education System—A Study of Cloud Computing and Virtualization

Online Education (OE) system is an effective and efficient way to perform the education in all sectors of government and non-government educational organization. Low performance and minimum speed are major overhead in the current ongoing OE system due to the increase of users and some system issues. Base on the previous study and recent practical issues, a model is proposed to Enhancing the Performance of Online Education System (EPOES) to examine the bare metal virtualization, isolation and virtual machine templates. Bare metal virtualization has led the native execution, isolation isolated the running application and Virtual Machine Template has help to increase efficiency, avoiding the repetitive installation and operate the server in less time. The proposed model boosts the performance of the current OE system, and examines the benefits of the adaptation of cloud computing and virtualization which can be used to overcome the existing challenges and barriers of the current OE System.

Double-tier Chinese-Mongolian machine translation based on statistical and template

To improve the accuracy of the translation of the Chinese-Mongolian language machine translation system,this paper proposed the methods that combined the phrase-based statistical machine translation and template based machine translation to automatically extract template structure.Template matching was the first step in decoding and the template structure was applied for translation,and then according to Beam Search algorithm a follow-up translation was carried out.Thus,the method can effectively resolve Word Order errors in a single statistical translation.Take a Chinese-Mongolian translation as an example,the experimental results show that this method can effectively improve translation effects.In the area of agricultural language Translation,agriculture phrase templates were added,and the translation efficiency increased by 10% than Och's phrase-based statistical machine translation methods.
