Abstract Development of Typhlocyba froggatti Baker (Homoptera: Cicadellidae) was examined in the laboratory at six temperatures. Time for development from egg to adult varied from 118 days at 13°C to 31 days at 25°C. Lower threshold temperatures for development of life stages established from this data and by the least variability method proposed by Arnold (1959) were contradictory. The use of these methods is discussed.
