Abstract Markarian 348 is a Seyfert-type galaxy with both low radio and optical luminosity. Variations in the radio flux density are reported here which enhance its resemblance to the strong radio Seyfert galaxies 3C 84 and 3C 120. Between 1972 August and 1973 September the flux at 3.7 cm decreased by 45 percent and the flux at 6.0 cm decreased by 32 percent while the flux at 11.1 cm held constant. The data are consistent with an optically thick, expanding synchrotron source, but so far only upper limits can be given for the model parameters.
