Regional Logistics Routing Optimization System Based on Fractional Differential Equation Modeling

Abstract The fractional microanalysis method established an optimal solution for the regional logistics distribution route. Firstly, the optimal problem of regional logistics transport routes is studied. A regional logistics information integration platform based on a fractional differential equation is constructed. The data of this platform can be used better to study the influence factors of road traffic cost. The objective and limitation of the model are obtained, and the transportation route of the system is established. The differential equation of integral order is used to solve the problem. Experiments show that the algorithm is effective and practical.

Design of industrial logistics information integration method based on supply chain management

Considering the problem of traditional information integration error and long processing time, this paper designs an industrial logistics information integration method based on supply chain management. Build the industrial logistics information integration method framework. Due to the diversity of industrial logistics information, use SVM information mining method, and then obtain the affiliation of each logistics node according to the characteristics of the supply chain. In a unified coded environment, nodes with the same attributes are collected and integrated according to the close relationship between different samples to complete the integration of industrial logistics information. Simulation results show that the minimum processing time required by the proposed method is 0.7 min, and integration error is always below 4.8%, effectively reducing the information integration time, reducing interfering the irrelevant information to the integration process and improving the accuracy of the integration results.

Wartime industrial logistics information integration: Framework and application in optimizing deployment and formation of military logistics platforms

Industrial logistics system is one of the key objects of industrial informatization, and analysis on this system is an important task of industrial information integration. According to the concept and principle of industrial information integration engineering, we present a five-layered framework of wartime industrial logistics information integration, and form an analysis of wartime industrial logistics system from the perspective of industrial information integration. To provide resolutions to the problems of optimizing deployment and formation of resources in wartime industrial logistics system (e.g., military logistics platforms [MLPs]), we conduct a typical application of this framework. As the research objects of the fourth layer, war statistics, mathematical calculations and simulation experiment are designed as the means by which descriptive analysis, predictive analysis and prescriptive analysis at the fifth layer can be implemented, respectively. Accordingly, the battle damage repair efficiency-oriented optimal decisions model of using MLPs are built. Results show that our study forms a systematic procedure for wartime industrial logistics information integration, thus obtaining more decision support and greater reference value for wartime industrial logistics.

Logistics quality management practices and performance of international distribution centre operators

This study quantitatively examines the enabler and performance outcomes of logistics quality management in the context of international distribution centre operators based on absorptive capacity theory. A total 110 usable surveys were collected by the questionnaire survey and a two-step structural equation modelling (SEM) approach including confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was subsequently employed to evaluate the values of logistics quality management. The results of SEM show that logistics information integration is positively related to the implementation of logistics quality management, which in turn has a positive impact on logistics services and organisational performance. Findings also confirm the mediating roles of logistics quality management and logistics service performance in this study.

Research on regional spatial logistics information integration method based on big data

Aiming at the shortcomings of current regional spatial logistics, such as low efficiency of logistics resource utilisation, high cost of logistics transportation and slow speed of goods transportation, a regional spatial logistics information integration method based on large data is proposed. Firstly, the integration principle and process of regional spatial logistics information are described. Then, the logistics transportation route optimisation model is assumed. Finally, the integration of regional spatial logistics information is realised by using the logistics transportation route optimisation model with time windows. The experimental results show that the proposed regional spatial logistics information integration method can improve the utilisation efficiency of logistics resources, and the data consistency can reach 96.9%. When the number of goods is 10,000 the transportation cost of the proposed method is the lowest of 12,300 yuan, so the transportation time of the method is the shortest.

Research on Key Technologies of Collaborative Logistics Information Integration Platform System Based on OGSA - DAI

Based on OGSA-DAI (Open Grid Services Architecture- Data Access and Integration), aiming at the existing problems that the logistics collaborative distribution platform’s low level of information integration, the dynamic grid nodes’ large fluctuations and the system data’ high heterogeneity, a five-layer collaborative logistics information integration platform system(CLITPS) is designed and the key technologies in five layers of grid structure are described in detail. Emphasized in core service layer to discuss the five service contents of the platform. Taking the collaborative delivery order processing as an instance, this article creates the customer activity intelligent search engine(CATSE), clarifies the user information search process and analyzes the implementation of the distribution order processing, which confirms the feasibility of the collaborative logistics information platform system.

Port logistics is an important industry that conducts the import and export functions of a company, therefore various information pertaining to port logistics should be intensively managed. However, there have been insufficient efforts to secure various logistics information in the port logistics industry from external threats. So it needs to manage the port logistics information system to protect and build a security management system for integrated logistics information. It is necessary a new system to secure various logistics information in the port logistics industry from external threats. In this paper, we have developed a new diagnostic system which is a information security management system (ISMS) based on the port logistics information system to decrease the vulnerabilities. This suggested system can analyze vulnerabilities of port logistics information system and show the best solutions to protect the system from security defects.

Evaluating key factors influencing the development of multi-country consolidation for ocean freight forwarders in Taiwan

The development of multi-country consolidation services has become a major feasible direction for major ocean freight forwarding firms in Taiwan. However, ocean freight forwarding firms must ponder which factors are most important when considering with the development of multi-country consolidation services. Therefore, the main purpose of this article was to apply the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process method to evaluate the key factors influencing the development of multi-country consolidation services for ocean freight forwarding firms in Taiwan. Based on the literature and experts’ opinions, a hierarchical structure with 4 assessment aspects and 16 assessment factors was first constructed, and the steps of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process method then proposed. Finally, based on the analytic hierarchy process experts’ questionnaires, we used the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process method to evaluate the key factors. The results showed that (1) “cost” is the most important aspect influencing the development of multi-country consolidation services for ocean freight forwarding firms in Taiwan; (2) in order of relative importance, the top eight key factors influencing the development of multi-country consolidation services for ocean freight forwarding firms in Taiwan are “cargo accuracy and tracking management,”“consolidation cost,”“deregulation of operations,”“transport cost,”“integrated logistics information management,”“high frequency of ship sailings,”“logistics-related operating costs,” and “convenience of customs clearance,” respectively. Furthermore, some discussions and recommendations concerning practical implications are provided for ocean freight forwarding firms operating in the multi-country consolidation market.

Design of the Integrated Logistics Information System Based on Cloud Computing

 Abstract—This study presents the practical approach for designing the integrated logistic information system (ILIS) in cloud computing environment. It is intended to optimize resources (vehicles, human resources, oil, etc.) required to logistics management. This system is targeted at the small and medium-sized third-party logistics (3PL) companies which are difficult to establish IT system by providing a remote service environment like SaaS (Software as a Service). In this study, the concepts traveling salesman problem (TSP) and Dynamic Programming (DP) are used for route optimization. We intend to contribute to minimize the operational cost of the logistics system by designing remote service. The integrated logistics information system has contributed to reduce logistics cost and to enhance the efficiency of the logistics business, after the adoption of logistics company in the early 2000s. But the significant parts of the system components are relying on expensive logistics solutions. In addition, the logistic companies wish to integrate the load optimization solution with the route optimization solution within a single system. Therefore, the integrated logistics information system (ILIS) is necessary to the logistics company. But most of third-party logistics companies are small and medium-sized scale, so they are hard to establish and operate IT system in the respect to the cost. In this study, we suggest the design of the main components of ILIS in the shape of SaaS in cloud computing environment.

Linking inter-organizational trust with logistics information integration and partner cooperation under environmental uncertainty

Abstract Many organizations have undertaken information integration to coordinate their logistics activities. Such logistics information integration serves to enhance the transactional and relational mechanisms which are instrumental for buyer and supplier firms in the logistics chain to gain performance. Based on the transaction cost economics and social exchange theory, we propose and empirically test the link between logistics information integration and inter-organizational trust and their effects on partner cooperation and buyer and supplier performance, and if so, whether these effects are contingent on environmental uncertainty. Our test results with survey data collected from 154 manufacturing firms indicate the value of logistics information integration and inter-organizational trust on buyer and supplier performance particularly when they encounter unforeseen market changes. Regardless of the environmental uncertainty relating to the difficulty in predicting product demand, rate of cannibalization, and technological advancement, logistics information integration and inter-organizational trust are shown to provide transactional and relational mechanisms helpful for improving performance in the logistics chain.

The impact of mass customisation practices on performances: an exploratory study of Chinese manufacturers

Using a large-scale survey in China, this study identifies a set of manufacturing practices based on the framework proposed by Zipkin (2001), and builds and tests a model describing the relationship between mass customisation practices and firm performances. The results demonstrate that the mass customisation practices can bring benefits to manufacturers in terms of both cost reduction and product/service quality improvement, which in turn boost financial performance. Moreover, we find that the practices of elicitation, flexibility in design, advanced manufacturing technology (AMT), just-in-time (JIT) supply chain and integrated logistics information system (ILIS) play different roles in business performance improvement. To be specific, the elicitation and ILIS are very important to operational performance in terms of cost and product/service quality. The flexibility in design and AMT are beneficial to cost reduction only. However, the JIT supply chain has no impact on neither cost nor product/service quality in China.

Through the research of the demand of the ERP information system of Ningbo Dafa Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd which is the leading enterprise in the regenerated textile chemical fiber industry, in this article, we put forward the solution project of the integrated logistics information system based on barcode acquisition technology and ERP system, discussed the logistics information processing flow and implementation method according with the characters of the industry, and mainly studied the implementations of barcode data acquisition method and technological project.

Performance improvement of third-party logistics providers an integrated approach with a logistics information system

Many third-party logistics (3PL) providers in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region are small to medium companies, which play an important role in outbound logistics, managing logistics activities in the manufacturing supply chain in the Greater China. It is necessary for these companies to improve information transparency to their supply chain partners to maintain competitiveness. In this paper, a logistics information management platform known as Integrated Logistics Information Management System (ILIMS) is presented to suit this need. ILIMS aims to provide 3PL companies a uniform way of doing business with other trading partners and managing operation performance online. Besides, it enables 3PL companies to communicate with different trading partners on the internet without geographical restriction. A case study is presented with the application of ILIMS to a medium-sized 3PL company. With this generic system, the overall outbound logistics performance of the supply chain was significantly improved.

Using radio frequency identification technology in distribution management: a case study on third-party logistics

In the past two decades, the highly competitive marketplace forces many manufacturing firms in Hong Kong moving their production lines to the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region where the labour cost is low. The changes not only bring ample business opportunity to these firms, but also trigger a structural transformation in distribution logistics. Therefore, new methods are required for local logistics service providers to cope with these changes. In this study, a logistics information system called Integrated Logistics Information Management System (ILIMS) is proposed to simplify the distribution process with the help of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. A case study is discussed in applying ILIMS to solve distribution management problems of International Logistics Solutions Limited (ILSL), a medium-sized logistics service company operating in Hong Kong and the PRD region. By using this RFID-enabled system, the overall distribution performance of the company is greatly improved.

Third Party Logistics (3PL) becomes more important nowadays as it aims to improve supply chain efficiency through reducing cycle time and inventory level for both upstream suppliers and downstream retailers. However, many small to medium-sized 3PL providers in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region still highly rely on manual processes, which make them difficult to achieve the role of supply chain facilitators. In this study, a logistics information hub named Integrated Logistics Information Management System (ILIMS) adopting Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is presented to suit this need. With ILIMS, 3PL companies are provided with unified business processes with enhanced tracking capability. A case study is discussed in applying ILIMS to a medium-sized 3PL company. Through using this generic system, the logistics visibility in the supply chain is improved with significant reduction of delivery time, supply cost, inventory and out-of-stock frequency that lead to increase of revenue and operations volume.

Managing uncertainty in logistics service supply chain

Many third party logistics (3PL) providers in South China are small and medium-sized companies and lack of systematic mean on handling information. Uncertainties are created in the business processes due to insufficient information for decision-making. In this study, a logistics information system called Integrated Logistics Information Management System (ILIMS) is proposed. It aims to manage the information flow efficiently between the involved parties in the logistics supply chain through integrating business processes and increasing information transparency to reduce uncertainty. In addition, it provides an effective channel for the 3PL providers to communicate with different contracted suppliers as well as customers through wireless Internet applications. A case study of applying ILIMS in a local 3PL company is discussed. By using this generic system, supply chain uncertainty that associates with the logistics processes can be reduced and leads to a significant performance improvement in the overall order fulfilment process.
