PECULIARITIES OF USING THE PROJECT METHOD IN TEACHING EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS OF THE COMPETENCE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The introduction of a learning model into the educational process, which combines the advantages of classroom organizational form of learning and project methods and differs from existing ones by using educational tasks (projects), quite long in time and aimed at comprehensive personal development in the information society, is a promising area of ​​research practices. The substantiated technique of application of a method of projects at teaching of disciplines of a specialty “Computer sciences” based on integration of scientific approaches to the maintenance of training and on priority of studying of programming, problems of the maintenance of project tasks on kinds of activity, partnership interaction of project participants) logical communication. It is proved that the use of the methodology allows to carry out competency-based learning on the basis of integration of scientific approaches. The experimentally confirmed tendency to increase the level of formation of information and communication competence of experimental groups by increasing the minimum level of knowledge, skills, their attitude to mastering the content of informational educational component of learning, their motivational and reflexive readiness to use digital technologies and software environment for independent work and communication.

Relational Communication Spaces: Infrastructures and Discursive Practices

Digital communication technologies, social web platforms, and mobile communication have fundamentally altered the way we communicate publicly. They have also changed our perception of space, thus making a re-calibration of a spatial perspective on public communication necessary. We argue that such a new perspective must consider the relational logic of public communication, which stands in stark contrast to the plain territorial notion of space common in communication research. Conceptualising the spatiality of public communication, we draw on Löw’s (2016) sociology of space. Her relational concept of space encourages us to pay more attention to (a) the infrastructural basis of communication, (b) the operations of synthesising the relational communication space through discursive practices, and (c) power relations that determine the accessibility of public communication. Thus, focusing on infrastructures and discursive practices means highlighting crucial socio-material preconditions of public communication and considering the effects of the power relations which are inherent in their spatialisation upon the inclusivity of public communication<em>.</em> This new approach serves a dual purpose: Firstly, it works as an analytical perspective to systematically account for the spatiality of public communication. Secondly, the differentiation between infrastructural spaces and spaces of discursive practices adds explanatory value to the perspective of relational communication spaces.

AUTOMATION OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS OF DRILLING OF WELLS ON THE BASIS OF THE METHOD OF STRUCTURAL SCHEMES

The analysis of modern methods of graphic representation of automatic control systems (AAP) is carried out. The graphical analog of operational management is valuable at the stage of knowledge of the nature and logic of communication between the members of the management, convenient at the stage of control transformation, changing the visual structural transformations, and creates the basis for solving equations with modern methods of machine automatics. For this stage, the following graphing images (SAT) methods were compared: "Method of Functional Schemes", "Structural Image Method", "Method of Structural Schemes".
 The advantages and disadvantages of the method of structural schemes are presented. It is necessary to emphasize that the structural scheme on the basis of typical dynamic units should be considered not as an illustration to the equation describing the SAR, but rather as a very convenient and obvious way of compiling the equations of the system by the equation of individual units. Considerable attention is paid to the use of structural schemes for the image of the system of mechanical links. Detailed ways of connecting mechanical links are presented in detail. The general rule of construction of the structural scheme of the n - mass mechanical system is given.

Developing a Communicative Logic –The Key to Communication Professionalism

ABSTRACT Communication practitioners still struggle to increase their status and legitimacy, and the value of their work is often questioned. The general perception of the occupation is often related to the idea that communication practitioners manipulate with misleading information and primarily are involved in superficial activities such as image and reputation building. In attempting to defend themselves from criticism and enhance their status, communication practitioners have strived to be regarded as a management function, which comes with pressure to follow a managerial logic. However, the managerial logic works as a double-edged sword – it brings some status in the short run but takes communication practitioners further away from their core competence in communication. In this article, we challenge the one-sided belief in the managerial logic – managerialism – and explore its hidden, negative implications for the practice and professionalization of communications practitioners. The implications are illustrated with interviews with communication practitioners and survey data on communication practitioners’ views and communication processes. Further, we propose that an alternative logic – a professional communicative logic – needs to be further developed and embraced to additionally advance the professional project.

Diction and Message Logic in the Podcast of Deddy Corbuzier in Episode "Malih, Pesan Pedas Tuk Ade Londok"

This study aims to identify diction which is related to message logic in communicating on social media. The identification is carried out based on Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast that is aired on YouTube. The analysis of diction is an interesting study when, as one of the reasons, it is related to the efforts to effectively convey messages that are beneficial to a society. This study combines the concept of diction and Message Logic Theory, particularly "message design logic." The method applied is observation on the data source in the form of a video recording with note-taking techniques by which identification, classification and data reduction could be carried out. There are two main results in this study. First, the diction includes general words consisting of graded words and abstract words, and particular words consisting of proper names and the words that have suggestive power. Second, the dominant message logic that appears in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast episode "Malih, Pesan Pedas Tuk Ade Londok” (Malih, Sharp Message for Ade Londok) is expressive logic and rhetorical logic. The implication of this research on diction and communication logic is a description of the importance of choosing the right words in public spaces. This study also recommends other researchers to do further researches by using more speech data so that public communication patterns can be mapped better.

Logically Parallel Communication for Fast MPI+Threads Applications

Supercomputing applications are increasingly adopting the MPI+threads programming model over the traditional “MPI everywhere” approach to better handle the disproportionate increase in the number of cores compared with other on-node resources. In practice, however, most applications observe a slower performance with MPI+threads primarily because of poor communication performance. Recent research efforts on MPI libraries address this bottleneck by mapping logically parallel communication, that is, operations that are not subject to MPI's ordering constraints to the underlying network parallelism. Domain scientists, however, typically do not expose such communication independence information because the existing MPI-3.1 standard's semantics can be limiting. Researchers had initially proposed user-visible endpoints to combat this issue, but such a solution requires intrusive changes to the standard (new APIs). The upcoming MPI-4.0 standard, on the other hand, allows applications to relax unneeded semantics and provides them with many opportunities to express logical communication parallelism. In this article, we show how MPI+threads applications can achieve high performance with logically parallel communication. Through application case studies, we compare the capabilities of the new MPI-4.0 standard with those of the existing one and user-visible endpoints (upper bound). Logical communication parallelism can boost the overall performance of an application by over 2×.

THE TASK OF REDESIGNING LARGE DISTRIBUTED CORPORATE SYSTEM

The paper proposes a new problem to be solved in the process of redesigning large distributed corporate systems in which there is an exchange of many information flows through various channels. The variety of information transmission routes often leads to multiple duplication of information flows in physical channels. This increases the likelihood of data corruption on the network. At the same time, in large distributed systems, powerful and weak channels with low bandwidth or low reliability are used, which are often disconnected, and in this case it is necessary to solve the problem of information logistics - redistribution of information flows. The paper proposes the problem of optimizing the redistribution of information flows by the criterion of minimizing the total increment in the volume of transmitted information in the system, which is included in the integral indicator of the characteristics of logical and physical communication channels. The problem is solved at the application level when redesigning a corporate system by removing ineffective channels to obtain a minimum spanning tree structure.

DEVELOPMENT OF EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES IN BIOLOGY MAJOR COURSE AT HIGH SCHOOL

The modern educational process reform considers a competence approach as a way to achieve the expected learning outcomes. Following the approach in 2017 the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine updated the curricula for general secondary education institutions. The main change is as follows: the focus was shifted from content to learning outcomes. The point of expected learning outcomes as part of the competence approach is widely discussed in the educational environment. At the same time, the issue of achieving the expected learning outcomes while studying the specific chapters of the “Biology and Ecology” curriculum for secondary schools, in our opinion, has not been closely studied. The purpose of the article is to provide evidence that the development of expected learning outcomes by tenth-graders (with Biology as major) while studying the topic “Exchange of Matter and Energy” is quite achievable. The difference between the concepts of “competence” and “expected learning outcomes”, corresponding to secondary education Biology curriculum (standard and profound variants) is emphasized. The approach to teaching this issue is offered. It allows students to develop such expected learning outcomes defined by school curriculum as the ability to qualify, explain, and give examples of basic Biology and Ecology laws. It has been stressed that while learning and mentation the following knowledge component of expected learning outcomes is realized: students use the terms “metabolism”, “homeostasis”, “epigenesis”. The attitude component is realized by getting aware of the fact that body parts need to be constantly renewed. The offered logic of educational material communication makes students effective in getting knowledge about certain biological facts and phenomena. In certain case, it is the ability to explain wildlife phenomena with the help of the scientific method of inquiry elements. The task examples given are to develop students’ ability to predict changes in cell and body metabolism under the influence of external factors, and the ability to seek independently for new information about the bio- and ecosystems functioning features. The justified teaching educational material includes a general abstract thesis, which on being stated at the beginning of a chapter, gets new substantiations with students acquiring knowledge of biological phenomena. The author believes that for expected learning outcomes, it is meaningful to study everything related to enzyme catalysis, in conjunction with milieu interior and body balance control. The possible variant to explain and develop the concept of “metabolic pathway”, necessary for students to predict metabolism dynamics, is described.

In order to reach its audiences, journalism regularly turns to social media to promote its articles. This study sets out to ascertain competing communicative logics of Facebook posts as opposed to article teasers on news outlets’ websites. We look at Scandinavian news outlets as a most-similar three-country case with at least a third of all news consumers regularly using Facebook for news. The study builds on an extensive data collection of all Scandinavian news outlets’ Facebook posts including their respective websites’ article teasers over the course of 11 months. We investigate the use of news text grammar (e.g., punctuation or the use of pronouns) and social media features (e.g., hashtags or the use of emojis) alongside structural influences from individual countries, outlet reach, and ownership. Findings show Facebook posts to include less punctuation while employing more calls to action through the use of question and exclamation marks. We conclude with a reinvigorated call for hierarchical considerations when investigating news outlets’ social media endeavours through editors’ experiences, available resources to a news outlet, and institutional willingness to align with audiences.

O artigo traz uma reflexão sobre a produção da opinião pública na sociedade de plataformas, apontando como os fenômenos das fake news e da pós-verdade incidem sobre esse processo. Para tanto, traça um panorama da lógica comunicativa vigente e aciona o conceito de opinião pública para pensar as especificidades e as nuances do debate público em plataformas on-line.

The Use of Power Line Communication in Standalone Microgrids

Standalone microgrids are used in various industrial operations to supply critical loads. The authors have proposed a stable and robust decentralized ac microgrid architecture that provides an automatic and equitable load sharing between distributed generators, without the use of droop control. To deal with faults or real-time changes in the distributed generation levels, a flexible reconfiguration of the microgrid can be advantageous. To achieve that, this article proposes the use of power line communication (PLC). Two PLC strategies are explored in this article: the first is based on using a single and constant PLC frequency, and the second is based on using a variable PLC frequency within a given range. This article details PLC injection, detection, and suppression methods, as well as the overall communication logic. It demonstrates the ability of the microgrid to adapt to changes while minimizing the amount of battery support. Findings of this article are supported by simulations and validated by experiments.

Introduction to special issue: The logic of victimhood

This special issue aims to identify the social and affective dynamics that circulate and attach to the ‘master’ signifier of victimhood in liberal public spheres. Drawing on cutting-edge work by leading scholars across theoretical traditions, the issue illuminates the ways in which victimhood emerges as a dominant communicative logic in three distinct but interrelated domains of liberal publicity: its histories, politics and aesthetics.

Breaking the logic of neoliberal victimhood: Vulnerability, interdependence and memory inCaptain Marvel(Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, 2019)

The contemporary visibility of women’s accomplishments and popular outcry in the face of injustice and/or violence might suggest that women have achieved their aim of putting long-fought feminist principles in the spotlight and have finally earned equality. However, let us not forget that, in the face of violence, the hegemonic matrix of intelligibility has also historically defined women victims by their ‘injurability’, so, intrinsically vulnerable, thus justifying the need of the system to assist them. It is not surprising, then, that, as a response to vulnerability, empowerment is celebrated. In this context, one would think that a blockbuster, such as Captain Marvel (2019), would reproduce the hegemonic economy of recognition where the subjects of violence are either treated as devoid of agency or offered empowerment through a neoliberal individualizing logic. However, the controversy that the film and its female protagonist raised (for adopting explicit feminist language to challenge patriarchy), along with the outcry of white angry men (symptomatized in male film critics) and the Internet nerd-culture (members of which considered themselves aggrieved by the film), provide a fruitful ground to look into the communicative logic of victimhood. Captain Marvel can help us to explore not only the chiaroscuros and phallacy of the victim versus empowered subject script but also the implicit logic that obscures the divisions that this logic perpetuates. In this respect, we are interested in analyzing how the movie stages:1. The assignation and construction of female vulnerability in a hegemonic shared cultural narrative that privileges the construction of the empowered subject obscuring the politics of emotions;2. The possibilities of empowerment before such a narrative and in relation to reclaiming historical and personal memories;3. The sharing of the condition of vulnerability across gender and geographical boundaries and its relation with the criminalization of other vulnerable others such as aliens.

WITHDRAWN: Implementation of wireless home-based automation and safety arrangement using power electronic switches

The tools and technology used in home based automation on 6LoWPAN are described in this paper. This is an IP-based protocol, which benefits from the absence of any additional layer or logic for node communication in or out of the network. Remote controls of the home automation system and home appliances have been a field of focus since the conception of the Personal Area Network. Our personal world became smarter and more digital gadgets by implementing IOTs (internet of things) and handheld devices. There are also many foundational wireless protocols for this reason in today's industry. This problem has always been an economical compromise for separate home appliances for a complete house environment and interoperability. This paper looks at both facets of home automation by switching the emphasis from smart to home systems to the point where the technology is powered (the switches). The two aspects of home automation are discussed. For these switches, we have alternate power semiconductor switch alternates and eventually edge them to a module for home automation and control over Internet/intranet. For the entire safety of home automation, a working house automation concept is presented, along with intelligent electronic control changes and a model architype.

Cyber Resilient Platform for Internet of Things (IIOT/IOT)ED Systems: Survey of Architecture Patterns

Purpose of the article: development of tools for building the cyber resilient platform for Internet of things (IIoT/IoT). The urgency of development the cyber resilient platform for Internet of things (IIoT/IoT) is to provide the required security and resilience of critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation in the face of rising security threats, and imperfection of the known models, methods and means for data collection and processing in IIoT/IoT networks, based on the wireless technology Sigfox, LoRaWaN, “Strij/”Vaviot” (XNB/Nb-Fi), NBIoT. Research methods: It uses the author’s models and methods of similarity and dimensions theory of the distributed computing, as well as the domestic technology of wireless communication Logic Inter Node Connection (LINC) (http:// aura360.ru/), as well as the domestic FenixOS operating system (https://fenix.link/kontakty/), designed for collecting and processing the telemetry data. Results: Developed tools for building the cyber resilient platform for Internet of things (IIoT/IoT). The article presents the main scientific and technical results of solving this problem. The research was carried out within the framework of the Federal project “Information security” of the national program “Digital economy of the Russian Federation”. It is important to note that the results allowed designing a prototype of the domestic Internet of things (IIoT/IoT) platform with self-healing data reception and transmission paths between smart devices

Optimizing the hypre solver for manycore and GPU architectures

The solution of large-scale combustion problems with codes such as Uintah on modern computer architectures requires the use of multithreading and GPUs to achieve performance. Uintah uses a low-Mach number approximation that requires iteratively solving a large system of linear equations. The Hypre iterative solver has solved such systems in a scalable way for Uintah, but the use of OpenMP with Hypre leads to at least 2× slowdown due to OpenMP overheads. The proposed solution uses the MPI Endpoints within Hypre, where each team of threads acts as a different MPI rank. This approach minimizes OpenMP synchronization overhead and performs as fast or (up to 1.44×) faster than Hypre's MPI-only version, and allows the rest of Uintah to be optimized using OpenMP. The profiling of the GPU version of Hypre shows the bottleneck to be the launch overhead of thousands of micro-kernels. The GPU performance was improved by fusing these micro-kernels and was further optimized by using Cuda-aware MPI, resulting in an overall speedup of 1.16—1.44× compared to the baseline GPU implementation.The above optimization strategies were published in the International Conference on Computational Science 2020 [1]. This work extends the previously published research by carrying out the second phase of communication-centered optimizations in Hypre to improve its scalability on large-scale supercomputers. This includes an efficient non-blocking inter-thread communication scheme, communication-reducing patch assignment, and expression of logical communication parallelism to a new version of the MPICH library that utilizes the underlying network parallelism [2]. The above optimizations avoid communication bottlenecks previously observed during strong scaling and improve performance by up to 2× on 256 nodes of Intel Knight's Landing processor.

Study on optimization of handoff process using fuzzy logic for mobile communication

This work gives a brief overview of handoff technology and how it is useful in the field of cellular communication. The work touches upon the differences and similarities between soft and hard handover. It also looks into how handoff algorithms can be optimized using fuzzy logic technology, and the various advantages of such an optimization over conventional methods of handover.

Communication optimization strategies for distributed deep neural network training: A survey

Recent trends in high-performance computing and deep learning have led to the proliferation of studies on large-scale deep neural network training. However, the frequent communication requirements among computation nodes drastically slow the overall training speeds, which causes bottlenecks in distributed training, particularly in clusters with limited network bandwidths. To mitigate the drawbacks of distributed communications, researchers have proposed various optimization strategies. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of communication strategies from both an algorithm viewpoint and a computer network perspective. Algorithm optimizations focus on reducing the communication volumes used in distributed training, while network optimizations focus on accelerating the communications between distributed devices. At the algorithm level, we describe how to reduce the number of communication rounds and transmitted bits per round. In addition, we elucidate how to overlap computation and communication. At the network level, we discuss the effects caused by network infrastructures, including logical communication schemes and network protocols. Finally, we extrapolate the potential future challenges and new research directions to accelerate communications for distributed deep neural network training.

BRASÍLIA IMAGINADA: a cidade representada por meio dos seus processos simbólicos

Pretende-se no estudo que se apresenta, a partir da metodologia criada por Armando Silva (2006) para a composição simbólica das “Cidades Imaginadas”, investigar as semelhanças e diferenças entre a cidade midiatizada e a cidade vivida e percebida por seus moradores. A pesquisa tem enfoque no espaço urbano desde uma perspectiva do cidadão, onde o imaginário se impõe a princípio como um conjunto de imagens e signos, de objetos do pensamento e vida cotidiana, cujo alcance e coerência podem variar e cujos limites de redefinem sem cessar. Partimos deste ponto de vista por compreender que é imprescindível começar a pensar sobre a lógica da comunicação, a cidade e a cidadania a partir de outros parâmetros que não o paradigma distributivo e eficiente ou abordagens tradicionais, definindo uma agenda e linhas de desenvolvimento de pesquisa e intervenção social baseadas na linguagem de seus cidadãos e na demanda pelo comum.

Identity‐Based Motivation and the Logic of Conversations Obfuscate Loss of Online Privacy and What Policy‐Makers Can Do About It

People care about their privacy, but when they are online, they do not act as if they do. We apply the psychology of meaning‐making to shed light on why that is. Acquisti, Loewenstein, and Brandimarte (2020) review of factors relevant to gaps between privacy attitudes and behaviors highlights both the importance of the problem of online privacy and its intractability, given current thinking about what can be done. Connecting their discussion with the psychology of meaning‐making, operationalized by integrating identity‐based motivation theory with the logic of communication and anthropomorphizing, this commentary addresses why people narrowly conceptualize what privacy they are losing and fail to act as if privacy matters, as well as what can be done about it at a policy level.
