This research explores the significant impact of modern Sufi teachings spearheaded by Emha Ainun Najib, or Cak Nun, on the members of Jamaah Maiyah in Indonesia. As a charismatic Muslim intellectual, Cak Nun introduces the concept of Tasawuf into the reality of modern life, emphasizing human values, tolerance, and local cultural heritage. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, involving in-depth interviews with members and key figures of Jamaah Maiyah, as well as participatory observation of religious practices in various community activities, such as Pandang Bulan, Bang-bang Wetan, Kedirian, and Kenduri Cinta, held in 2023 in East Java, Indonesia. The findings highlight the positive reception of modern Sufi concepts by Jamaah Maiyah, connected to positive changes in religious practices and daily outlooks. The social and cultural impact manifests in attitudes of tolerance, social concern, and awareness of human values. Cak Nun’s teachings encourage members to engage in personal introspection and achieve a balance between the worldly pursuits and the spiritual endeavors. This research not only demonstrates the relevance of Tasawuf in the modern era but also identifies its contribution in shaping the character and perspectives of religious communities. Sustainable tourism has become a primary focus in the context of sustainable development at various tourist attractions. This study aims to understand the role played by the local community in efforts towards sustainable tourism development, using the case study of Lumbung Stroberi. The research method used is a qualitative approach, which includes in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document studies for data collection. The results of this study indicate that the local community is actively involved in destination management, preserving the environment, empowering the local economy, and promoting and preserving local cultural heritage. From this research, it can be concluded that close cooperation between the government, the tourism sector, and the local community is crucial in formulating concrete steps to achieve sustainable tourism development at tourist attractions such as Lumbung Stroberi.

Exploring the Ex-Hoogere Kweekschool Purworejo as a Historical Learning Resource for High School Students in Purworejo Regency

This study investigates the educational potential of the Ex Hoogere Kweekschool (HKS) Purworejo heritage site as an interactive and contextual resource for high school history education in Purworejo Regency. Employing a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, the research integrates observation, interviews, and document review methods. Observations evaluate the site's use in educational settings, while interviews with teachers, students, and site managers offer insights into its application in history lessons. Document reviews provide a historical context and outline prior educational uses of the site. Findings reveal that the Ex HKS Purworejo, built in 1915 by architect BOW J.Th. van Hoytema, significantly enhances students' learning experiences. The site's architecture and historical significance facilitate contextual history education, enabling students to engage directly with the historical environment. Despite its potential to accommodate up to 75 students and teachers and its preservation of 17 buildings in the Indies architectural style along with other authentic elements like ancient garden lamps, the site's use in history education at SMA Negeri 7 Purworejo and throughout the district remains suboptimal. The study emphasizes the importance of incorporating authentic historical resources like Ex HKS Purworejo into the history curriculum. This approach is vital for educators and policymakers in Purworejo Regency to develop strategies that optimize the use of cultural heritage sites in education. Enhancing the use of Ex HKS Purworejo and similar sites can enrich learning materials and offer students dynamic, meaningful learning experiences, fostering a deeper appreciation for their local cultural heritage.

Awareness and Appreciation of Local Cultural Heritage of Surigao City

As societies become increasingly interconnected, there is a growing need to recognize and celebrate the unique identities embedded in local traditions, customs, and artifacts. This study aimed to identify the level of awareness and appreciation of the local cultural heritage of the senior high school students of St. Paul University Surigao. This study applied the quantitative research design employing a descriptive survey technique with 272 participants. The main instrument employed in gathering the necessary data was the researcher-made questionnaire. The gathered data were treated using sample percentage, mean and standard deviation, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (PPMCC). The results showed that there is a significant relationship between students’ awareness of local history and their appreciation for local cultural heritage in Surigao, and there is a positive correlation. The results of this research may provide fundamental information and a framework for future researchers doing thorough investigations that have similarities to this study.

In the modern era dominated by technology and information, the development of news-based websites has emerged as a key element in supporting the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage in tourist destinations. This research investigates how news-based websites can be a key factor in enhancing tourism promotion, as well as the key elements that need to be considered to ensure their effectiveness in attracting visitor and supporting tourism destination promotional objectives. In addition, this research also examines methods for measuring the success of tourism and cultural promotion websites in achieving promotional objectives, including increasing the number of visitors and participation in cultural activities. The role of news content in enhancing website attractiveness and driving user interaction is also the focus of the analysis. Furthermore, this research explores users' experiences and their interactions with news-based websites in tourism. Factors influencing user preferences and participation are also analyzed to understand how to increase the effectiveness of news-based websites in the context of tourism and culture promotion. The results of this research provide important insights for the development and improvement of news-based tourism and culture promotion websites, as well as a greater contribution to sustainable tourism development and preservation of local cultural heritage.

Revitalization of Terbang Bandhung Art Through Interactive Learning Media Based on Android Applications for High School Students in Pasuruan City

Revitalization of traditional arts, such as Terbang Bandhung, is an important step in preserving local cultural heritage. In the midst of modern era and digitalization, traditional arts are often marginalized by the dominant global popular culture. This article discusses the revitalization of the art of Terbang Bandhung using an interactive learning media approach aimed at high school students in Pasuruan City. Through audio recordings, videos, and the use of modern technology, this learning program enables students to understand, appreciate, and actively participate in the art of Terbang Bandhung. Concrete steps, such as the process of data collection and rehearsal, recording and documentation, evaluation, application making, media application. Learning media for the art of Terbang Bandhung should be applied to high schools in Pasuruan City to ensure that this art remains alive and relevant in the midst of changing times. By integrating interactive learning media in formal education, this article designs a plan that can reawaken students' interest in traditional arts, as well as maintain the sustainability of local cultural heritage so that it does not drown in the swift flow of the modern era and digitalization.

Sustainable Water Governance in the Brazilian Pantanal Biome: Challenges and Lessons

Problems caused by land-use change and climate change transcend territorial boundaries, but often management of natural heritage sites can only influence what happens within the local area. Therefore, we need innovative conservation strategies that also transcend territorial boundaries. Hence, the approach to managing our natural heritage sites may need innovative strategies to ensure their effective conservation. This study examines the conservation approach in the Pantanal biome, which houses multiple centers of decision-making across Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Despite the region’s significant contribution in providing ecosystem services and playing an integral part in local cultural heritage and Native communities, Pantanal has suffered from a lack of clear rules and strategies, challenges in implementation, and, largely, capacity and coordination across different governance scales. This contribution synthesizes key challenges and potential opportunities through co-production and information sharing to ensure a socio-ecological approach to promoting the conservation and resilience of the Pantanal biome.

Assessment for the Sustainable Development of Components of the Tourism and Recreational Potential of Rural Areas of the Aktobe Oblast of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The assessment of sustainable tourism development in the rural areas of the Aktobe oblast of Kazakhstan involved thoroughly analyzing multiple dimensions. Environmental, socio-economic, and cultural sustainability aspects were considered to comprehensively understand the region’s tourism potential. The study began by evaluating the available tourism resources in rural Aktobe. This included assessing natural attractions such as landscapes, wildlife, and geological features, as well as cultural heritage sites and infrastructure like accommodation facilities and transportation networks. A crucial aspect of the study was to analyze the environmental impact of tourism activities in rural areas. This involved evaluating the effects on ecosystems and natural resources. The measures for conserving these resources were also identified. Another focus was on the socio-cultural aspects of tourism development. The study aimed to preserve local traditions, cultural heritage, and community identity amidst tourism growth. Strategies for achieving socio-cultural sustainability were devised. Ranking methods were employed to identify key factors influencing rural tourism development. These methods helped prioritize areas for improvement and resource allocation. A balanced approach was adopted to assess the interaction between different dimensions of sustainability. This ensured that environmental, economic, and socio-cultural aspects were considered equally to achieve overall sustainable tourism development. ArcGIS 10 was used for data analysis and visualization. Maps and charts were created to represent spatial and statistical information, aiding in identifying trends and patterns. The study findings were crucial for identifying priority areas for infrastructure development and formulating strategies and programs for rural tourism promotion. The study aimed to ensure that tourism development aligns with the principles of sustainable development, benefiting both the local communities and the environment. The study provided valuable insights into the current status of rural tourism in Aktobe oblast and offered recommendations for sustainable development, contributing to the region’s long-term prosperity.

Strengthening character of cultural conservation through an android application containing public history for high school students in Indonesia

Introduction. The cultural heritage passed down by our ancestors to the next generation must be preserved. It is necessary to understand the history of the formation and development of the preservation of this cultural heritage to know its importance. Innovative methods are needed to increase the awareness and understanding of the younger generation regarding the history and conservation of cultural heritage. This research aims to analyze the strengthening of the character of cultural conservation when students learn history using an Android application with public history content. The public history content developed contains historical narratives of Semarang, as shown in videos. Information about the content is compiled using historical methods, including discussions about the importance of understanding historical heritage conservation for a society. Study participants and methods. This research involved 25 students in the experimental class and 25 in the control class to test the effectiveness of the Android application on students' cultural conservation characteristics. This research was conducted at SMA 5 Semarang (a High School) in Central Java Province, Indonesia. This school is one of the schools in the province with intense research activities. This study uses a quantitative research approach with quasi-experimental methods. The statistical method used is the Pearson chi-square test to evaluate the relationships between relevant categorical variables. Results. The results showed that high school students in the experimental group had a higher understanding and appreciation of public history and cultural conservation than students in the control group. The calculation results (χ² = 8,72; α < 0,05) conclude a significant relationship between the use of Android applications and interest in cultural preservation activities. So, the Android application is called DiHistory, developed to increase students' access to information on historical objects or buildings. This application was developed by the Research Center from the History Education Laboratory at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia. The application is practical in increasing the interest and motivation of high school students to study public history and strive to participate in preserving the local cultural heritage. Practical significance. This research has practical significance in education and cultural preservation in Indonesia. Through the development of the DiHistory application, which contains public history, this research has been proven to strengthen the character of secondary school students by introducing and increasing their understanding of Indonesia's cultural heritage. This research also shows the impact on strengthening character, student involvement, understanding cultural preservation, and increasing awareness. This research combining these aspects, this research has practical significance, which can positively contribute to education, student character, and cultural preservation in Indonesia.

CULTURAL HERITAGE AND SUSTAINABLE RIVER MANAGEMENT: INCORPORATING LOCAL WISDOM IN SUBAYANG RIVER, INDONESIA

The Lubuk Larangan is a sustainable water resource management system that consists of a water system and a river. This study aims to explore the potential of cultural heritage and indigenous knowledge in relation to sustainable river management. The study was conducted in the villages of Gema and Tanjung Belit in the Riau Province, Indonesia. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and a review of the relevant literature. The collected data were analysed using descriptive qualitative analysis, which consisted of three stages: Data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the water system’s cultural practices have played a significant role in preserving the ecosystem, sustaining natural resources, and preserving water quality in the Subayang River. This study contributes to the growing body of literature. It provides a deeper understanding of the role of local wisdom and cultural heritage in achieving long-term ecological and social sustainability. Several factors, including geographical conditions, livelihood systems, customary law, and leadership patterns, support the ecological behaviour of a community in managing river resources.

The Development of Potential Blue Economy Activities in The Marine Protected Area: A Literature Review

Sustainable tourism is a concept that aims to reduce the negative impacts of tourism on the local environment, society, culture and natural heritage. In this context, research on sustainable tourism and the blue economy is essential to develop a responsible and sustainable tourism industry. The purpose of this study is to analyse the potential development of blue economy activities in marine protected areas, especially in the field of tourism. This research uses a descriptive bibliometric analysis method. Bibliometric analysis shows that the publisher that publishes the most articles about the blue economy in tourism is sustainability blue economy with a total of 200 articles. The use of Network and Density Visualisation software VOSviewer produces a visualisation of themes related to the blue economy, such as "tourism," "social welfare," "political economy," "contribution," "community", and "sustainable blue economy," This research shows the existence of tourism activities on welfare in marine protected areas.

Digitalisation and development policies to enhance cultural heritage in inland and marginal areas: a pilot study on the Gargano agritourism sector

Starting from the state of the art, it is possible to establish that currently the agritourism represents a peculiarity, as well as one of the driving forces, of the Italian tourism sector. The main purpose of this study is to investigate what is the status of digitalisation processes in the development policies of the agritourism sector, with particular reference to agritourism operators present in the inland and marginal areas of the Apulia region; therefore, preservation and enhancement of local cultural heritage are key priorities. The research question can be summarised as follows: how does digitalisation play a role in the development of the agritourism sector, particularly in inland and marginal territories? To this end, the study is based on pilot research and will refer to the territory of the Gargano National Park. The methodology provides for an empirical investigation conducted starting from a structured interview to investigate the sentiment of local agritourism operators towards Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The selection of operators and municipalities was randomised in order to obtain a more representative data. In the later stages of the research, interviews will be conducted with an equal number of operators per location. The data collection and interpretation process in the pilot study, while not allowing for broad statistical inferences, enable logical-formal inferences and preliminary reflections on the current dimension of the topic under investigation, as well as discussions on the state of the art based on the newly acquired data. This pilot study highlights an increasing interest and greater awareness of the importance of ICTs, such as Blockchain technology, in the tourism and agritourism sector of Gargano; however, there is also a significant lack of digital culture and limited knowledge of both the limitations and potential of digital technologies in the tourism industry. The practical implications of the present work are the following: enhancement of customer experience; operational efficiency; marketing and visibility; environmental sustainability. In this regard, emerging technologies and ICT, combined with the unique characteristics of the territory and the already strong tourist appeal of the Gargano and surrounding areas, will provide operators in the sector with an advantage in the national and international market and enter the mechanisms of Tourism 4.0, as indicated in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), hence paying particular attention to the UNWTO strategies and guidelines established during the G20 meeting of September 2022.

The Intangible Cultural Heritage Law of the People's Republic of China explicitly states that educational institutions shall implement relevant intangible cultural heritage education by the provisions set forth by the competent education department under The State Council. Integrating intangible cultural heritage into art education is a crucial approach to safeguarding and preserving intangible cultural heritage. Schools serve as an optimal platform for inheriting and protecting the abundant intangible cultural heritage, with the compulsory education stage in primary and secondary schools offering unparalleled opportunities. Integrating local intangible cultural heritage into primary and secondary school art education and compiling art textbooks with local characteristics will help form a theoretical framework of curriculum design suitable for this purpose. As a result, they attained significant accomplishments regarding cultural transmission and spiritual heritage. However, there are still some things that could be improved with teaching staff, teaching material content, family and school social environment. It is imperative to conduct further research on optimizing the integration of resources into art education in primary and secondary schools. Padepokan Suliwa Karawang was founded on 8 October 2017 by H. Karta Wiratma, Suliwa is a vital part of the local cultural heritage with a focus on martial arts. With the main aim of developing and preserving arts and culture, Suliwa is actively involved in activities such as discussions, participation in community events, and a YouTube channel. Through qualitative research using an ethnographic communication approach and the application of George Herbert Mead's Symbolic Interaction Theory and Dell Hymes' Speaking Theory to understand human communication in a social context, Suliwa succeeded in forming a unity with the participants who practice the basic principles in line with the Siliwangi Kingdom, namely "silih asah, silih asih , take care of each other." Suliwa's goal is to make Suliwa committed to developing the character of her students, creating individuals who are skilled in martial arts and have high integrity. The actions taken by Suliwa, namely by involving internal discussions, community participation, and the use of social media, not only promote but also preserve the martial art of pencak silat. The symbol and key lies in the Suliwa logo, closely related to Karawang culture, playing an important role in carrying out human obligations, especially for Muslims. The use of the pencak drum and machete as a characteristic of Suliwa's identity combines elements of music and martial arts techniques in her cultural heritage. H. Karta as the founder and professor of Suliwa always upholds communication norms and ethics, creating an environment that encourages humility and discipline according to religious teachings. Suliwa collaborates martial arts with Sundanese dance and Karawang culture accompanied by Sundanese music, Padepokan Suliwa has succeeded in creating a distinctive genre that reflects the diversity of local culture, enriches and maintains the martial arts and cultural heritage of Karawang Regency.

Conducted at TK Batik PPBI Yogyakarta, this qualitative research utilized observations, interviews, and documentation to assess how batik-making activities influence cultural awareness among preschoolers. Results reveal that the batik introduction process familiarizes children with this local art form and instills a profound appreciation for cultural traditions. The educational methodology was designed to be age-appropriate and interactive, integrating safety measures and encouraging active participation throughout all stages of learning—from understanding the cultural significance of batik to hands-on crafting. The findings highlight the pivotal role of integrating cultural elements into early education to cultivate a long-lasting appreciation and knowledge of local heritage. This approach not only aids in cultural preservation but also enriches the educational experience, fostering a generation that values and understands its cultural roots. However, the study's limited scope, focused on a single educational setting, suggests the need for further research.
