Abstract This article is a summary of a study prepared in the office of Robert C. Weinberg for the Washington Square Association, the civic group active in the area where the 8th Street example of the application of arcaded sidewalks is drawn from. The Association has so far taken no action in promoting the idea. The Real Estate Forum, of New York, is running a condensed version of this article, which, it is hoped, will call to the attention of local builders and investors both the idea in general, and its specific, immediate application in Greenwich Village.
