A Personalised Caring Approach at Home-Patients, Relatives and Nurses' Experiences of Specialised Palliative Care: An Integrative Literature Review.

This study aimed to describe patients, relatives and nurses' experiences of specialised palliative home care. Integrated literature review. The review was performed using the PRISMA 2020 Statement. The searches were conducted in Cinahl, PubMed and Scopus. Eighteen articles were selected. An overall theme 'co-creation for personalised home care' emerged, based on three categories: 'Safe and secure care', 'Care based on wishes and needs' and 'Relatives' caring role'. Patients, relatives and nurses' experiences showed that co-creation was an important strategy for achieving goals and enabling patients to remain at home despite illness and limited life expectancy. Co-creation becomes a prerequisite for personalised home care and enabled through collaboration and learning between patients, relatives and nurses. This article is an overview of how patients, relatives and nurses experience care at home, supported by a specialised palliative care unit, and the result showed that co-creation enables personalised care.

Prevalence and Factors Associated With Depression and Depressive Symptoms Among Chinese Older Persons: An Integrative Review.

China is the country with the largest population of older persons. Depression is the most common mental health issue among older adults, a trend expected to increase as societies continue to age. With the global increase in depression and depressive symptoms among this demographic, the resulting disease burden poses a significant challenge to health and social care systems in China. To map, summarise and examine the empirical literature on the prevalence and factors associated with depression and depressive symptoms in Chinese older adults, an integrative literature review was conducted informed by the guidelines of Whittemore and Knafl. The literature search encompassed EMBASE, SCOPUS, CINAHL, Web of Science, PubMed, PsycINFO, SocINDEX, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and Wanfang Database. The review included 65 studies, 29 in English and 36 in Chinese. The reported prevalence of depression or depressive symptoms in Chinese older adults was 3.78%-84.3%. Based on the biopsychosocial model, the associated factors were clustered as follows: biological factors (physical health, disability, drug effects, gender, age, diets, physical activities), psychological factors (self-esteem, coping skills, trauma, emotions, beliefs, hobbies, lifestyle) and social factors (family relationships, peers, family circumstances, school, residential areas, social support, social structure). This review synthesised research on depression among older adults in China, highlighting varying prevalence across diverse geographical locations. Given the high prevalence among certain older Chinese cohorts, the early identification and assessment of the factors associated with depression is essential to reducing disease burden. The use of the biopsychosocial model provided a theoretical lens to examine depression in this population in an integrative and holistic way. Thus, furthering understanding of the factors that require close consideration in future research and practice innovations on depression in older persons.

Issues Related to Patient Participation in Psychiatric Hospital Care-An Integrative Literature Review of Patient Safety Research.

Explore how previous patient safety research has described issues related to patient participation in psychiatric hospital care. Integrated literature review. The literature review was conducted according to Cooper's framework with the following five-step protocol: problem identification, a literature search, data evaluation, data analysis, and the presentation of results. CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus databases, years 2005-2023. After quality appraisal, a total of 62 articles were reviewed. Three main categories related to patient participation in psychiatric hospital care were identified: communication (having information, being heard, therapeutic relationships and interaction quality), decision-making (treatment planning, treatment decisions, activities and working on behalf of patients) and restrictive measures (setting limits, exercising power, balancing patient autonomy and safety). Psychiatric hospital care nursing staff continuously balance patients' autonomy, self-determination, and safety, taking into account their well-being and issues of responsibility. Wider use of positive risk-taking is needed to increase patient participation and safety in psychiatric hospital care. Nursing staff should create favourable facilities for patient participation, foster an atmosphere of trust, respect, and encouragement, provide patients individual time to improve patient safety and recognise that they can exert power over patients due to constantly balancing patient autonomy and safety. Concepts of Digital Financial Technologies and Their Legal Nature

Digital financial technologies (FinTech) have revolutionized the financial industry by integrating innovations such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and decentralized finance into traditional systems. This study explores the conceptual evolution of FinTech and its legal and regulatory implications within global markets. It addresses challenges in defining, classifying, and regulating FinTech while maintaining market integrity and consumer trust. Using an integrative literature review of recent peer-reviewed articles, policy reports, and regulatory frameworks, the study examines themes like legal classifications of digital assets, regulatory strategies, consumer protection, and governance of blockchain platforms. Findings indicate that digital finance has surpassed traditional regulatory systems, leading to legal ambiguities and enforcement issues. Solutions like regulatory sandboxes, tailored crypto-asset regulations, and international standards show promise but must balance innovation with compliance. The study concludes that adaptive regulations, robust consumer safeguards, and global cooperation are critical for FinTech’s sustainable growth and alignment with legal frameworks.

ALTERNATIVAS TERAPÊUTICAS PARA O TRATAMENTO DE OSTEOMIELITE E O IMPACTO NA MORBIMORTALIDADE EM SEUS PACIENTES: UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

Objectives: To identify, collect and analyze, through the main published literature, the most relevant contributions and publications about the therapeutic choice for the treatment of osteomyelitis and the impact on morbidity and mortality in its patients. Methodology: This study is an integrative literature review conducted in accordance with the “Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses” methodology - PRISMA. The bibliographic survey was carried out in the Pubmed, Lilacs and Scielo databases in the third quarter of 2024. The search terms obtained from the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) were: (“Osteomyelitis”) AND (“Treatment”) AND (“Prognosis”), separated by the boolean “AND”. Results: In the Scielo database, 3 results were found. After reading the title and abstract of each article and using the descriptors and inclusion and exclusion criteria, 1 article was selected. In the PubMed database, 124 results were found and, using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 13 articles were selected. In the Lilacs database, 13 results were found, using the same methodology as the previous searches, and 2 articles were selected. Conclusion: At the moment, treatment is based on intravenous antibiotic therapy, seeking to cover the most common agents, associated with surgical intervention in some cases, since it enables samples to be taken to identify the etiological agent, removal of the compromised tissue, improved penetration of antibiotics into the infected area and a reduction in the local bacterial concentration.

Consequences of the use of Benzodiazepines in the elderly: an integrative review

The aim of this study is to analyze the main consequences of the use of benzodiazepines in the elderly. This is an integrative literature review carried out in the following databases: SciELO, LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE and PubMed. Articles were included in English, Portuguese or Spanish, published in the last ten years, available free of charge, whose results met the objective of this review. Incomplete texts, texts written in other languages, texts published before 2013, duplicates, theses, dissertations, monographs, conference proceedings and other integrative reviews were excluded. The final sample consisted of 10 articles. This study found that the elderly who use benzodiazepines the most are women, with a low level of education and who have chronic illnesses. Clonazepam and diazepam were the most commonly used. Furthermore, it was observed that irrational use is associated with negative health consequences, including cognitive decline, dependence and an increased risk of falls.

Decision-making regarding place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions: a systematic integrative review

BackgroundDue to medical advancements the number of children living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions is rising, meaning more children and their families will require palliative and end-of-life care in the future. While ‘home’ is often the preferred place of end-of-life care, the evidence around best practice for decision-making about place of end-of-life care remains inadequate.AimTo synthesise evidence on the factors influencing decision-making regarding place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.DesignA systematic integrative literature review. The review protocol was registered in Prospero: CRD42023406800.Data sourcesCINAHL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, and Maternal and Infant Health were searched for studies published between 2013 and 2024. Any empirical, peer-reviewed journal articles published in English that included data pertaining to decision-making about place of end-of-life care for children (≤ 18 years) with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions were considered. Quality appraisal was conducted using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool.ResultsEleven eligible studies were included. Using an iterative process of constant data comparison, four themes were identified, highlighting that (i) consideration of the child, (ii) availability and suitability of end-of-life care services, (iii) parents’ capacity and control in providing care, and (iv) family and sibling well-being were factors influencing decision-making about place of end-of-life care.ConclusionThere are a complex range of factors surrounding decision-making regarding place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Studies focused primarily on parents’ perspectives. Further research is needed to identify how to best support decisions about place of end-of-life care for families of children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

The Role of Community Organisation, Religion, Spirituality and Cultural Beliefs on Diabetes Social Support and Self-Management in Sub-Saharan Africa: Integrative Literature Review.

To examine the evidence for the role of community organisations, religion, spirituality, cultural beliefs, and social support in diabetes self-management, we undertook an integrative literature review utilising MEDLINE, APA PsycINFO, CINAHL, and grey literature databases. The selected articles were appraised for quality, and the extracted data were analysed thematically. The search yielded 1586 articles, and after eliminating duplicates, 1434 titles and abstracts were screened, followed by a full-text review of 103 articles. Ultimately, 47 articles met the inclusion criteria for the review, utilising various study designs, including qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, and nonrandomised clinical trials. These findings indicate that spirituality and religiositycan positively affectdiabetes self-managementby providing motivation, coping skills, social support, and guidance for healthy behaviours. A strong social support system enhances diabetes self-management and glycaemic control for individuals with diabetes. However, some aspects of religion and culture, such as beliefs about medications, may also pose challenges or barriers to diabetes self-management. Adherence to medication, food choices, physical activity, and the use of complementary oralternative medicine can be influenced by sociocultural factors. Additionally, cultural beliefs and social norms influence understanding diabetes aetiology, management, and symptom reactions. The findings highlight that it is crucial to understand the cultural, religious, orspiritual influences that can either assist or impede self-management habits in individuals with diabetes and could inform interventions that support personalised and effective care.

The experience of transition from student nurse to registered nurse among newly graduated nurses in the paediatric setting: An integrative literature review.

This integrative review explores the transition to practice experiences of graduate nurses working in either acute or non-acute paediatric settings across different countries. Graduate nurses frequently experience feelings of inadequacy, uncertainty, increased accountability, and workload pressures during their transition, particularly in paediatric settings. However, research specifically examining their experiences in paediatric healthcare is limited, with most studies focusing on broader nursing contexts. This highlights a gap in understanding the unique challenges graduate nurses face in paediatric nursing. Integrative literature review. The review commenced in January 2023 and was updated in October 2023. Data were collected from Medline, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Scopus using search terms such as "new* graduate* nurse* " AND "experience" AND "transition to practice" OR "work readiness" AND "p?ediatric setting* ". Inclusion criteria focused on primary studies published after 2000 that examined the transition experiences of graduate nurses in paediatric settings. Nine studies meeting these criteria were assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. From 2954 articles, nine met the inclusion criteria. Most studies were qualitative (n = 8), with one using mixed methods. Thematic analysis identified three key themes: transition experience, challenges faced by graduate nurses, and supportive factors during transition. This review highlights the unique challenges graduate nurses face in paediatric nursing and emphasises the need for targeted support post-qualification. The findings provide valuable insights for healthcare administrators to develop tailored strategies and interventions to improve graduate nurses' transitions, retention, and paediatric nursing practice in dynamic healthcare environments.

IMPACTO DA INTELIGÊNCIA ARTIFICIAL NA DETECÇÃO PRECOCE DE DOENÇAS CARDIOVASCULARES: UM ESTUDO DE REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool in medicine, with significant applications in the cardiovascular field, especially in the early detection of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Its ability to process large volumes of clinical data through technologies such as machine learning (ML) and deep neural networks (DL) has provided faster, more accurate, and personalized diagnoses. Objectives: To analyze how AI contributes to the early detection of CVDs and, as specific objectives, to identify the main algorithms used, describe the benefits for patients and health professionals, and discuss the ethical and technical challenges associated with their implementation. Justification: The research highlights the social importance of reducing mortality associated with CVDs, the academic relevance of consolidating knowledge about AI in cardiology, and the scientific impact of exploring new diagnostic approaches to improve health care. Methodology: An integrative literature review was carried out, covering articles published between 2018 and 2023, in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Embase. Inclusion criteria prioritized peer-reviewed studies that discussed the application of AI in the diagnosis and management of CVDs. Results and discussion: The results showed that AI improves diagnostic accuracy, reduces response time, and enables personalized prognoses. However, challenges such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and acceptance by professionals were identified as barriers to its implementation. Conclusion: AI is a promising tool in cardiovascular clinical practice, but its consolidation depends on strategies that address ethical and technical limitations and promote adequate training of health professionals.

The teaching-learning process of children in the context of music as a tool in pedagogical actions: an integrative literature review

Early childhood education is crucial for fostering creativity and promoting cognitive, emotional, and social well-being in children. Music plays a fundamental role in this process, facilitating early language acquisition and communication skills. Using a systematic approach, studies published from 2020 to 2024 were identified and analyzed through databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and SciELO. Inclusion criteria prioritized research exploring the integration of music into pedagogical practices, highlighting its cognitive, emotional, and social benefits for children. The methodology involved searching for specific keywords and applying Boolean operators to refine searches. After a rigorous screening process, 13 articles were selected for detailed analysis, addressing topics ranging from the impact of music on cognitive development to its application in formal and informal educational programs. Data analysis highlighted music as an effective tool for enriching learning experiences, enhancing language skills, and promoting the holistic development of children, contributing to more inclusive and effective pedagogical practices in early childhood education.

Value Co-Destruction, an Integrative Model Application of The Consolidated Meta-Analytical Approach

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the evolution of value co-destruction (VCD), developing an integrative model based on a thorough review and analysis of the literature from 1975 to 2023. Theoretical Framework: This research is contextualised within the fields of marketing and service ecosystems, addressing concepts and theories that underpin the study, such as value Co-creation, Value Co-destruction, Service-dominant logic, and Consumer behaviour, providing a solid foundation to understand the research context. Method: We employ the Theory of the Consolidated Meta-analytical Approach (TEMAC) and quantitative bibliometric techniques to analyse data extracted from the Web of Science and Scopus databases. Our systematic review was guided by the PRISMA framework, and we used VosViewer 1.6.5 visualisation software to construct bibliometric networks. Results and Discussion: Value Co-destruction represents a significant risk to the sustainability and excellence of service delivery across all types of ecosystems. Research Implications: The research shows how interactions between the various actors in a service ecosystem (users, service providers, and other stakeholders) can lead to negative and unsatisfactory outcomes, resulting in losses of both tangible and intangible resources for at least one of the involved actors. Originality/Value: TEMAC provides a structured method useful for researchers in various fields, allowing an understanding of the past, present, and future in the investigated area through a replicable, systematic, and integrative literature review. From our integrative model, we can reflect that the evolution of Value Co-destruction has taken a winding path, where clear directions are still not visible in terms of concepts, theories, and consensus in the scientific community.

Integrative Literature Review of Methods and Tools for Identifying Environmental Impacts in Projects in Plastics Industries

Objective: This study seeks to identify the methods and tools described in international scientific documents for identifying environmental impacts in plastics industry projects. Method: To identify the methods and tools, an integrative literature review was developed, seeking to explore and identify the state of the art regarding the objective of the study. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the most prominent method for identifying environmental impacts in the plastics industry, and is applied to improve production processes, product design and end-of-life disposal, regardless of the sector within this industry. However, different databases and approaches are used to identify and improve processes and design in this sector. Research Implications: It is a study with vast potential to show how environmental concerns are within plastic industry projects and how impacts related to design, production process and end of life are being identified in this sector.

The lived experience of women studying nursing online in regional, rural and remote areas: an integrative literature review

BackgroundThere is a critical shortage of registered nurses working in regional, rural and remote Australia. It is the people from these areas that are most likely to address this shortage. This research therefore sets out to explore the question “what is known about the experiences of regional, rural and remote Australian women undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing program delivered online?”.MethodsThe methodology was an integrative literature review which included: 1) problem identification, 2) literature search, 3) data evaluation, 4) data analysis and 5) conclusion. Articles identified as part of the review explored different aspects of the research question.ResultsUsing thematic analysis, it was possible to extrapolate four interrelating themes: (1) juggling ‘women’s work’ and study, (2) the online learning environment is isolating, (3) the cost of clinical placement, and (4) maintaining overall wellness while studying.ConclusionThe literature consistently failed to explore the intersection of the complex challenges facing these students. What is important about this integrative literature review, however, is that the themes identified provide a small and incomplete insight into the experiences of such women, and with a workforce shortage already in play and students continuing to withdraw from their studies, there is a need to find a way to better serve regional, rural and remote Bachelor of Nursing students and their communities.

Trends and hotspots in public food procurement: exploring planetary boundaries and human needs in an integrative literature review

Purpose Using an Integrative Literature Review (ILR), this study aims to investigate the components defining the Safe and Just Operating Space (SJOS) within food systems and assess their applicability in decision-making for public food procurement (PFP). Design/methodology/approach Data concerning SJOS implementation in food systems and the criteria used in PFP were retrieved from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. Findings The analysis of the literature highlights that climate change (n = 31; 17%) and water use (n = 29; 16%) are the primary focus areas regarding Planetary Boundaries (PB), followed the nitrogen cycle, land use, biodiversity loss and the phosphorus cycle. In PFP, key criteria linked to PB encompass climate change (n = 19; 7.2%), water use (n = 17; 6.44%) and chemical pollution (n = 17; 6.44%). The social and ethical dimensions underscore labour (n = 18; 6.82%), water (n = 17; 6.44%), income (n = 16; 6.06%) and energy (n = 16; 6.06%). Research limitations/implications Despite the strengths of this study, certain limitations should be acknowledged. Although the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the reviewed articles were clearly defined, it is possible that relevant literature was unintentionally excluded. Expanding the scope to include grey literature – such as government documents, reports, policy statements and statistical reports – could provide additional insights and broaden the scope of the findings. Moreover, the search was limited to the Web of Science and Scopus databases, which may have resulted in the omission of relevant studies, particularly those published in non-English languages or not indexed journals. Practical implications The identified procurement criteria can help public administrators develop guidelines and tools for food procurement that consider the SJOS. Social implications This paper offers an understanding of the connection between planetary processes and human well-being in the context of PFP. Originality/value This pioneering research lays the groundwork for future agendas in this field and encourages reflection on critical factors essential for selecting methods and standards applied in practical public procurement.

Advancing Asset Tokenization in the European Union and Latvia: A Regulatory and Policy Perspective

Our study examines the regulatory challenges and opportunities of asset tokenization within the context of the European Union (EU), emphasizing the balance between technological innovation and investor protection in the digital economy. Focusing on 2023 EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and its application in Latvia, we utilize comparative legal and integrative literature review methodologies to explore how regulatory frameworks can enhance investor accessibility, liquidity, and transparency in digital transactions. Our findings emphasize the importance of strong legal frameworks in promoting economic growth and protecting investors, thereby contributing to a more inclusive financial ecosystem. By examining the regulatory landscape for distributed ledger technology, we provide insights into how regulations can balance innovation in asset management with the imperative of investor protection. We offer a broad analysis of the intersection between legal frameworks and technological advancements in Latvia, illustrating how diverse regulatory approaches can support both economic development and investor interests. Our research originality lies in its focus on the EU’s regulatory diversity, particularly in Latvia, and its implications for broader European and international regulatory environments. Our study contributes to ongoing discussions on optimizing regulatory strategies to facilitate secure and advantageous financial technologies, reflecting the diversity of legal and economic approaches across Europe.

Comparing the Introduction and Implementation of Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) in Japan, the Netherlands, and the United States: An Integrative Review.

Previous studies suggest that NIPT's implementation differed widely across countries but offer limited insight into what shaped these differences. To address this gap, we conducted an in-depth analysis of how NIPT was incorporated into prenatal care in the US, the Netherlands, and Japan-countries with similar economic status-to identify actionable lessons. We conducted an integrative literature review on the process of introducing and implementing NIPT, stakeholders' roles, documented considerations in the decision to introduce NIPT, implementation choices, and NIPT uptake. We included 184 sources, including white and gray literature and non-English sources. We identified 17 considerations that were documented to have influenced the decision whether to introduce NIPT across five domains: clinical considerations, ethical considerations and societal values, financial considerations, demand and capacity and applicable oversight. Fewer factors seem to have been considered in the US as compared to Japan or the Netherlands. Countries subsequently made choices on how to implement NIPT-we identified 35 such choices. While most of the identified choices were eventually considered by all three countries, they made different decisions (e.g., on out-of-pocket costs). In 2022, the estimated proportion of pregnant persons who used NIPT was 58% in the Netherlands, 49% in the US, and 9% in Japan. While differences in cultural values, population characteristics, and healthcare systems explain some variation, we identified other more adaptable aspects of the decision-making process (e.g., oversight) that may be useful for countries introducing NIPT or similar technologies to consider.

Implementation of sustainability in human resource management: A literature review

Orientation: Truly, organisations face the challenge of implementing sustainability in their daily activities.Research purpose: This article examines the ways in which sustainability has been implemented in human resource management (HRM).Motivation for the study: Sustainability has become increasingly important in organisations, particularly regarding HRM.Research approach/design and method: This study used qualitative methodology and collected data by means of an integrative literature review that retrieved appropriate and relevant journal articles from the Business Source Ultimate database, as one of the EBSCOhost databases.Main findings: The findings suggest that green human resource management (GHRM) was the most frequently implemented concept and was combined with rare cases of corporate social responsibility (CSR) implementation. Sustainable human resource management (SHRM) was seldom implemented.Practical/managerial implications: Interestingly, contemporary studies revealed the circular economy (CE) as an economic sustainability dimension in HRM, and likewise, the ascendance of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in HRM. Regarding the process of sustainability implementation in HRM, some links have been established between sustainability dimensions and HRM, but the incorporation of sustainability into HRM was not evident from the reviewed literature.Contribution/value-add: This article ends with a discussion of some insights for future research. Moreover, the selection of sustainability and HRM in this article was significant given that sustainability can contribute towards a way of addressing and solving environmental, social and economic problems associated with organisations’ activities that could be fixed by HR. This demonstrates the existing strong compatibility between sustainability and HRM because HRM could fit in each sustainability dimension.

FATORES PREDITORES NA SÍNDROME DO DESCONFORTO RESPIRATÓRIO AGUDO EM PACIENTES COM A DOENÇA PULMONAR OBSTRUTIVA CRÔNICA: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DE LITERATURA

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is characterized by severe respiratory failure and represents a critical complication, often associated with the need for mechanical ventilation (MV). Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is defined as a progressive condition that causes airway obstruction and injury to the lung parenchyma, often associated with smoking, and is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Thus, patients with COPD are particularly susceptible to ARDS due to chronic impairment of the components of the respiratory system. This study addresses the relationship between COPD and ARDS, and aimed to identify the main predictors of ARDS in this population. Thus, this integrative literature review followed a methodological design that involved searching the PubMed, BVS and Scopus databases, with the selection of articles published in the last ten years. The research identified five relevant studies, which indicated factors such as COPD exacerbations, use of MV, advanced age, sepsis and environmental factors as predictors of ARDS in patients with COPD. Although the studies showed an association between these conditions, the scarcity of specific research on predictors of ARDS in patients with COPD was an important limitation, but among the studies of the qualitative analysis, 8,431 patients and 26 reviews were evaluated that comprised the 2024 meta-analysis evaluated, which strengthens the evidence on the subject.

Receiving psychotic patients in emergency services is a complex process that requires technical preparation, sensitivity and institutional support. This study aims to identify effective strategies for managing these patients, exploring humanized practices, safety and integration with the Psychosocial Care Network (RAPS). To this end, an integrative literature review was carried out, including articles published between 2019 and 2023, available on the PUBMED/MEDLINE, SciELO and LILACS databases. The selection followed strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in a final sample of six articles. The results pointed to significant challenges, such as the lack of continuous professional training, the social stigma associated with mental disorders and the lack of physical and human resources in emergency services. On the other hand, effective strategies stood out, including the continuous training of health teams, the use of active listening, the adoption of harm reduction practices, the standardization of care protocols and coordination with other services in the health network. We conclude that the reception of psychotic patients in emergency services requires an interprofessional and humanized approach that is capable of guaranteeing comprehensive care, promoting patient safety and strengthening mental health services.
