IT HAS been shown previously that the products of the alkoxymethylchlorination of propylene possess insecticidal properties with respect to pests of cotton plants and other crops [1, 2]. Our later investigations have shown that the products of the Mkoxymethylchlorination of olefinic hydrocarbons of the styrene [3] and isocyclic [4] series are also highly effective preparations. The products of the alkoxymethylchlorination of olefins are ~/-chloroethers the synthesis of which is accomplished by the action of chloromethvl alkyl ethers on olefins in the presence of ZnC12 as catalyst [5].
