O. V. Evstafiadi compares directional and non-directional communicative registers, highlighting in the communicative register such quality as addressability. A person strives not only for mutual understanding when using linguistic symbols, but also to evoke a reaction from the listener to the information expressed by him. All these phenomena are realized in the speech act. In the mind of the speaker, based on internal and external factors of society, a communicative goal arises, the purpose of which is to influence the actions, attitude of the addressee or determine the essence of a specific problem. The choice of certain linguistic means and linguistic structures is based on the pragmatics of the dialogue text, the communicative goal of the speaker, his own opinion, approach, and the general level of knowledge of the communicants, depending on specific circumstances. Keywords: speech registers, communicative units, linguistic stylistics, speech activity, pragmatics.
