Light-meson mass formulas are derived from QCD spin-dependent forces and various masses are predicted in the quarkonium-model picture. Except for \ensuremath{\pi}(135) and \ensuremath{\theta}(1640), all the meson spectra can be accounted for as bound states of quark-antiquark pair but the large deviations between the observed and predicted values of \ensuremath{\pi}(135) and \ensuremath{\theta}(1640) cannot be explained appropriately in the quarkonium-model picture.
