CRIME IN EKA KURNIAWAN’S NOVEL LELAKI HARIMAU

The novel Lelaki Harimau by Eka Kurniawan describes the life of Javanese people during the Japanese colonial period. In the novel, there are various kinds of social problems, one of which is crime. This research aims to describe the forms of crime in the novel. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of library research. The theory used is criminal psychology with a literary psychology approach to bridge the study of psychology and literature. The results of the research show that there are three forms of crime in the novel: domestic violence, sexual harassment and rape committed by the major characters. The domestic violence as well as raping is done by a husband towards his wife; something weird but that is the truth. Sexual harassment is experienced by other female characters owing to hegemony of power and money. The research shows that crime is one of the social problems that occurs in society. These crimes can be caused by various factors, such as poverty, social inequality and family conflict.

Menilik Tantangan dan Strategi Pendidikan Luar Sekolah Berbasis Masyarakat

Community-based out-of-school education has emerged as a strategic alternative to improve access to education, especially for communities underserved by the formal education system. Despite its great potential, it faces various challenges, including lack of government support, limited resources and negative stigma. This article aims to identify the meaning, forms, challenges and strategies to improve the effectiveness of community-based out-of-school education. The research method used in this study uses the library research method, which is research based on processed manuscripts (manuscript studies), facts and primary and secondary data (supporting data) related to the focus of the research, namely on community-based out-of-school education. To analyze the manuscript by using the content analysis approach, and questioning the content of the manuscript with experts in their fields. The result of this research is that there are several challenges in implementing community-based out-of-school education. Among them are lack of government support, limited resources, lack of public awareness, negative stigma, lack of collaboration, and challenges in evaluation. Therefore, collaboration between various parties and effective strategies are needed to increase participation and quality of out-of-school education, so that it has a positive impact on society.

HUMAN EXPLOITATION IN ARAVIND ADIGA’S NOVEL THE WHITE TIGER

Aravind Adiga’s The White Tiger explores the stark social disparities between the wealthy and impoverished in India, illustrating how systemic poverty perpetuates marginalization. The protagonist, Balram Halwai, narrates his journey from a lower-caste background to becoming a self-made, successful individual in India. Balram's story is not just one of personal ambition but also of navigating a rigidly stratified society. This study addresses two primary issues: the exploitation Balram endures due to his socioeconomic status; and his strategic actions are to attain freedom from the oppressive forces in his life. Using a library research method, the study integrates secondary sources, including books and articles, to deepen the analysis of the novel. Employing a psychological approach, this study examines the psychological complexities of Balram’s character, supported by theories on character development, data credibility, theoretical triangulation, and reliability. Balram is depicted as an astute yet morally ambiguous character, exhibiting selfishness, cunning, irresponsibility, dishonesty, and a lack of remorse. The analysis reveals how his behaviors and attitudes—such as detachment from others and deviant tendencies—are shaped by his environment. India’s entrenched caste system underpins various social issues in the novel, including poverty, unemployment, corruption in education, inadequate healthcare, exploitation, discrimination, and the persistence of hierarchical master-servant relationships. These factors collectively influence Balram’s psychological development, and shape him into a figure both reflective and critical of the society he navigates.

Eksistensi Kotak Kosong Pada Pilkada 2024 Di LampungThe Existence Of Empty Boxes In The 2024 Regional Elections Lampung

The Empty Box phenomenon is a current that is being discussed ahead of the 2024 elections, which is certainly inseparable from democracy. Empty boxes are predicted to be a solution as well as an inconsistency that erodes democratic values. In Lampung itself, there are two regions that will fight the Empty Box in the upcoming 27 November 2024 Pilkada, which is motivated by several factors, one of which is political domination. Understanding the existence of the Empty Box is important especially for mutual understanding and avoiding misconceptions. This article focuses on how the presence of the Empty Box in the conception of democracy and the empiricism of the community to channel their disapproval of the Single Candidate. This research uses Library Research method, literature study with descriptive and comparative approaches to describe the data into straightforward, detailed and clear sentences that make it easier to understand. The results showed that the Empty Box in the concept of democracy is a solution, but also a new problem, especially in Lampung where there are practices of political domination

This research examines the theme of suffering in Emily Dickinson’s selected poems, focusing on her unique poetic approach and the profound emotional resonance her work evokes. Emily Dickinson, a pivotal figure in 19th-century American literature, frequently explored themes of death, pain, and existential questions. Despite her reclusive life, her poetry is rich with personal imagery and symbols, reflecting her deep preoccupation with mortality and the human condition. The study utilizes a structural analytical approach, combining library research with descriptive qualitative analysis. This method involves a thorough examination of relevant literary critiques and an in-depth textual analysis of Dickinson’s poems. The aim is to uncover how Dickinson’s portrayal of suffering contributes to a deeper understanding of human experience. Findings indicate that Dickinson’s treatment of suffering is multifaceted, often depicting pain as a necessary aspect of the human soul's development and a precursor to joy and peace. Her poems suggest that pain and suffering are integral to personal growth and resilience. Dickinson’s ability to articulate the complexities of suffering through her innovative use of language and metaphor makes her work both timeless and universally relatable. Overall, Emily Dickinson’s exploration of suffering provides a profound insight into the human experience, highlighting the interconnectedness of pain, joy, and personal growth. Her poetry remains a significant contribution to American literature, offering a nuanced perspective on the inevitability of suffering and its role in shaping the human soul.

BERSUCI DAN BERIBADAH SHALAT BAGI PASIEN LUKA BAKAR

This study aims to examine procedures for purifying and performing prayers for patients with severe burns, who often have physical limitations so they cannot perform worship using conventional methods. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis techniques and library research, this research provided a guidance for patients with severe burns in worship. The research results show three main points: first, the condition of patients with severe burns occurs as an emergency or near emergency, where patients are not advised to come into contact with air or make many movements. Second, patients in this condition are allowed to replace ablution with tayammum as a way of purifying themselves. Third, considering their physical limitations, patients are allowed to pray with adapted movements, for example praying in a sitting, lying position, or whatever is possible. This research is important to ensure that patients with severe burns can still carry out their worship according to Islamic regulations, even in limited physical conditions.

Gender-Based Challenges in Women's Leadership Careers: A Literature Synthesis

The international community's initiatives to promote sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on gender equality under SDG 5, have garnered substantial recognition for women leadership. Women who hold leadership positions offer distinctive viewpoints that contribute to workplace positivity, innovation, and decision-making. Nevertheless, they encounter significantobstacles, such as underrepresentation, bias, and restricted opportunities for advancement. This study examines the challenges faced by women in their leadership careers and the influence of organizational practices. This investigation employs a library research methodology to investigate a variety of reference sources, such as books and prior research, in order to establish a theoretical framework regarding women's leadership. Content analysis is employed to synthesize and interpret pertinent data from sources published within the past decade, thereby guaranteeing the reliability of the information through expert commentary and inter-library checks. The article's objective is to investigate the internal and external challenges that women encounter in their pursuit of professional advancement, as well as the impact of organizational biases and stereotypes on their leadership roles. It suggests that these factors create barriers and imply implications for increasing the number of women leaders by reviewing literature on management and career studies. The results indicate that women's career advancement is substantially hindered by gender biases, stereotypes, and structural obstacles. Women's leadership aspirations are impeded by societal and organizational expectations, despite the progress made in gender equality. The study underscores the necessity of comprehensive strategies to eliminate these biases and foster inclusive leadership environments.

Self-transformation: The Importance of Education for Adults in the Modern Era

This study explores the transformative role of education for adults in the modern era, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning for personal growth and adaptability. Utilizing a qualitative approach through library research and a comprehensive literature review, this study analyzes the impact of education on self-transformation, focusing on how educational experiences foster changes in identity, critical reflection, and emotional intelligence among adult learners. The findings highlight that education is not only a means of acquiring new skills but also a key factor in reshaping personal identity and fostering adaptability in a rapidly changing world. By engaging in education, adults experience shifts in self-perception, develop enhanced critical thinking skills, and improve their ability to navigate complex social and professional environments. Additionally, the study underscores the role of collaborative learning environments, where interactive and participatory educational settings amplify the transformative potential of education. The process of self-transformation is found to be ongoing, with each educational experience contributing to continuous personal development. This study concludes that educational programs aimed at adults should adopt a holistic approach, addressing both the practical and emotional dimensions of adult learners’ needs. Such programs will enable adults to thrive in the modern era, not only by equipping them with essential skills but also by fostering deeper self-awareness and lifelong growth.

In constitution Number 20 of 2003 year Chapter 2 Article 3 talking about the national education system said that "national education aims to develop the ability and form the character and civilization nation that dignity in order to educate life of the nation, aiming to develop the potential of students become human beings who faithful and pious to God Almighty, noble, healthy, erudite, capable, creative, independent, and become democratic and responsible citizen. The values of character education should be instilled in children since early age. This is duty of both parents to educate their children to have good behaviors and habits. Whether at home, at school or in the society circle. The comic book entitled Si Toyeb by Husni Assaerozi. This research aims to trace the characters education in the comic Si Toyeb which is a comic that tells about the portrait of santri life in Islamic boarding school. This written is a research that seeks to inspect the values of character education using library research methods. Data from the results of this research can be concluded that comic Si Toyeb by Husni Assaerozi there are 9 from 18 characters education values according national education ministry.

Humans and Education in Islam: Optimising Multidimensional Potential for a Cultured and Productive Society

The research aims to analyze humans and education in Islam. The qualitative research method, the type of library research that is explored, is sourced from the library. The author uses a content analysis approach model (research content). This research is an in-depth discussion of the content of written or printed information in the mass media. Data analysis was carried out through content analysis, including all content analysis of the Al-Qur'an text and books related to human themes and education in Islam. The research results show that (1) Humans are multi-dimensional creatures with perception, sensation, and intellectual powers. Human potential is actualized in the form of creative works. (2) Humans are expressed in terms of basyar and insan. Basyar refers to their physical appearance, while insan refers to their psychological qualities, namely the power of feeling and the power of reasoning. (3) Humans and education are two elements that cannot be separated because humans, with all their potential, can be empowered through education and training. Education is an essential part of human life. With education, humans can actualize themselves in the form of work, which is manifested in science, art, and culture. This work is a human effort to overcome the difficulties of life.

The Readiness of Islamic Religious Education Teachers to Enter The Era of Industrial Society 5.0

The challenges of entering the era of Society 5.0 require people to face more complex challenges. These changes have both positive and negative impacts. In connection with the progress of Society 5.0, educational institutions have new challenges, namely not only making their students academically ready but also printing them with character. The development of the world of communication today requires people to face various complex challenges. The era of society 5.0 has an impact on all human life, both positive and negative. In this context, educational institutions are expected to be pivotal in addressing the challenges. This can be achieved by equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of religious studies. This research is included in library research using the content analysis method. This research used the following procedures: Preparing tools, preparing the work bibliography, timing, analysis, and compiling research notes. The data in the study were obtained from literature in accordance with the research topic. The new concept emerges, intact and up-to-date, from the collected and processed data. This includes gathering references manually and digitally. This research indicates that educators must prepare themselves to face the challenges of the Society 5.0 era. This preparation should entail two key areas of focus, namely character education, which at least includes five characters: religious, independent, nationalist, integrity, and cooperation, and links learning with critical thinking skills.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Virtual Reality: A Synergistic Approach to Building Sustainable Brand Image

This study explores the intersection of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Virtual Reality (VR) as a novel approach to fostering sustainable brand image. Utilizing a qualitative research method through literature review and library research, the paper analyzes existing frameworks and theories on CSR and their potential enhancement through immersive VR experiences. The findings indicate that CSR initiatives, when integrated with VR, offer companies a unique opportunity to engage consumers more deeply by creating interactive and impactful experiences that highlight their commitment to sustainability. VR can simulate real-world scenarios of a company’s social and environmental efforts, making these initiatives more tangible and relatable to consumers. This immersive engagement not only enhances consumer understanding of CSR efforts but also builds stronger emotional connections, which are essential for long-term brand loyalty. Additionally, the synergy between CSR and VR contributes to a more transparent and authentic brand image, as VR allows for a more compelling demonstration of CSR activities. The study concludes that this innovative approach of combining CSR with VR can significantly improve brand perception, foster consumer trust, and establish a sustainable brand image that aligns with modern consumer expectations of corporate responsibility and ethical behavior. Further research is suggested to explore the long-term effects of this integration on consumer behavior and brand equity

Expanding Horizons: From Information to Inspiration at the AAAS Annual Meeting

The authors attended the 2024 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) as part of a cohort of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) librarians sponsored by the partnership between the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and AAAS. We describe two sessions, one on combating misinformation and one on open science. For these topics especially, hearing the perspectives of scientists was particularly valuable and interesting to us as librarians. We share our reasoning for attending a science disciplinary conference rather than a library conference in these days when one must carefully weigh a national or international conference against all the other demands on a librarian’s professional development budget.

Legal Challenges in Regulating Artificial Intelligence: A Comparative Study of Privacy and Data Protection Laws

This article explores the legal challenges in regulating artificial intelligence (AI) with a focus on privacy and data protection laws through a qualitative, comparative study. By employing a library research methodology, the study analyzes existing literature and legal frameworks across multiple jurisdictions to identify common trends, gaps, and inconsistencies in AI regulation. It investigates how various countries, including the European Union, the United States, and emerging economies, have developed or are developing legal instruments to address privacy concerns raised by AI technologies. The study highlights key issues such as the tension between technological innovation and regulatory constraints, the adequacy of current legal standards in addressing AI-specific risks, and the role of international cooperation in harmonizing data protection laws. The comparative analysis reveals significant divergences in how privacy is protected across different regions, particularly in the application of principles like consent, transparency, and accountability. Moreover, the article identifies critical gaps in existing frameworks, including the lack of clarity in AI accountability, data sovereignty, and enforcement mechanisms. The findings underscore the need for a more coherent and globally coordinated approach to regulating AI that balances privacy protection with technological advancement. Ultimately, the study calls for reforms that ensure robust privacy safeguards while fostering innovation in AI.

Influence and collaboration in library and information science research: A university perspective

Objective. The objective of this study was to examine the influence and collaboration patterns within library and information science (LIS) research, with a particular focus on the contributions of universities over time. Design/Methodology/Approach. This study used bibliometrics and LIS network analysis to examine 14,517 articles indexed in Scopus from 1954 to 2023. The Bibliometrix R-package was used to identify publication trends, influential institutions, authors, and collaboration networks in the LIS field. Findings. The key findings indicated that Wuhan University was the foremost institution in LIS research, with notable contributions from Chinese scholars who were identified as the most influential authors in the field. The keywords “information science” and “information retrieval” emerged as common thematic areas, reflecting core research interests. The content analysis also revealed that LIS research had robust connections with fields such as physics, computer science, and information technology, underscoring an interdisciplinary trend. Originality/Value. This study offered original insights into the evolving landscape of LIS research, identifying both leadership in academic output and potential gaps in current research coverage. It underscored the necessity for future research to expand the scope of its database and refine keyword selection for more comprehensive representation. The findings contributed to the strategic development of LIS research and the fostering of international collaboration.

Menyelami Esensi: Integrasi Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi dalam Kurikulum Pendidikan Agama Islam

Each period experiences an important transformation in Islamic religious education, which requires the development of an accurate curriculum with a strong foundation to achieve clear targets. This paper aims to investigate the contribution of curriculum development principles in the context of Islamic religious education. The writing method used is library research using scientific journals, books and online sources. The findings show how crucial a comprehensive understanding of the Islamic education curriculum, knowledge and science is, as well as the influence of scientific thinking on the progress of science and technology. This article emphasizes that the Islamic education curriculum goes beyond academic boundaries by integrating spiritual and moral aspects to form a generation that God-fearing. In addition, knowledge and science play an important role in education, while the philosophy of science guides the direction of the development of science and technology.

Metode Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Perspektif Al-Quran dan Hadist

Methodology is a crucial component in determining the success or failure of an education. This allows learning material to be taught effectively and efficiently to students. To achieve this, teachers should use a multi-strategy and multi-sector approach, including motivational and pedagogical approaches. This research uses qualitative methods, such as library research, to explore Islamic education methods. The methodology must take into account the individual or social aspects of the students and teachers themselves. The three components of Islamic education include knowledge, skills, and knowledge. Understanding methodology is critical to determining educational effectiveness. In the world of Islamic religious education, the process and goals of education should be in accordance with the Koran and Hadith as the main sources of Islamic teachings. In these two sources of law there must be a strong foundation regarding educational methods, as implemented by the Prophet Muhammad in preaching and educating Muslims. The results show that there are five educational methods in the Koran and Hadith.

Strategy for Improving Business Performance in Micro and Small Enterprises through Innovation and Digitalization

This study aims to examine strategies for enhancing business performance in micro and small enterprises (MSEs) through the integration of innovation and digitalization. In an era where digital transformation has become critical for competitiveness, MSEs face unique challenges due to limited resources, constrained access to technology, and often limited technical expertise. Using a qualitative approach through library research and literature review, this study synthesizes current research on the role of innovation and digital adoption in boosting productivity, expanding market reach, and improving operational efficiencies in MSEs. Findings reveal that innovation and digitalization not only facilitate access to broader customer bases but also enable cost-effective marketing and streamlined operations. Additionally, the analysis indicates that overcoming barriers such as technology adoption costs and skill gaps is essential for successful digital transformation in MSEs. Supportive policies, digital literacy training, and partnerships with technology providers emerge as critical components to foster a conducive environment for these enterprises. The study contributes to the ongoing discourse by identifying key success factors for MSEs embarking on digital and innovative transformations. Furthermore, it provides recommendations for policy makers, business owners, and stakeholders to enhance MSE resilience and competitiveness in a digitalized economy. This research underscores the importance of aligning digital strategies with business goals to ensure sustainable growth and adaptation in a rapidly evolving market landscape.

Penyediaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan dalam Pendidikan Islam

Islamic education aims to develop individual potential as a whole, including spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical aspects, in accordance with Islamic values ​​and principles. Therefore, qualified educators and educational staff are needed. This qualitative research uses a library research method, namely a research method carried out by observing various literature related to the problems in the research, in the form of papers, books or writings, both from print and online media. The results of this research are that the quality of educators and educational staff in Islamic educational institutions is currently still a complex and challenging issue. Even though there are efforts to improve quality standards, there are still various challenges that need to be overcome, such as lack of qualifications and competence of educators, low welfare, minimal training and professional development, and inadequate policy support. To overcome this challenge, collaboration is needed between the government, educational institutions and communities to implement structured training and development programs and improve the welfare of educators.

Pendekatan Kepemimpinan Kependidikan Al-Ghazali dan Ibnu Khaldun: Relevansi dalam Manajemen Agile Modern

Leadership is an individual's personal ability that plays an important role in bringing the organisation to its goals. The complexity of the environment of modern society, along with the pressure of competition between educational institutions, the increasing expectations of parents and the need to introduce changes in the process of working in Islamic educational institutions led to a great deal of interest in agile management methods. Al Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun are great figures who pay great attention to the world of education, including the concept of educational leadership. The presence of leaders in facing these conditions is absolutely necessary so that Islamic educational institutions can still exist to contribute to the intellectual life of the nation. The purpose of this research is to examine the concept of educational leadership of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun and explain the relevance of these concepts in the context of agile management. This research uses the Library Research method. The author searches for literature sources in the form of books and journals. The analysis used is comparative analysis. The conclusion of this research is the relevance of the concept of educational leadership of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Khaldun in the context of agile management, namely working to achieve the pleasure of Allah swt, holding fast to the goals of Islamic education, having leadership skills, involving customers in educational projects, involving customers in educational projects, teamwork and collaboration, new work processes, regular reflection and continuous quality improvement.
