Gamification of Al-Khawarizmi Number Basis Module for Gifted and Talented Muslim Students

There are a few bright and intelligent students who have a poor level of achievement in mathematics. They think that mathematics is a boring subject and not important in daily life. A special module named the Al-Khawarizmi Number Basis Module will be used as an intervention step for students who need this guidance and support to achieve excellence in mathematics, increase their level of understanding of professional mathematics, and give encouragement to Muslim students in cultivating a mathematical life. The main objective of this research is to develop a game card for gifted and talented Muslim students at Kolej PERMATA Insan, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. This module helps students enhance their understanding and achievement in mathematics. This module contains three main topics, namely rational numbers, factors and multiples, and standard form. The effectiveness of this module needs to be evaluated and analyzed carefully. This way, the module can improve the level of achievement and understanding of gifted and talented Muslim students, which can then be shared with students that are in mainstream schools. In completing this module, students are also tested with a game card called Find and Match: Al-Khawarizmi Robot of Number (Riz and Ron). Then, students will undergo a pre-test and post-test to assess their level of achievement. The implementation of this module can increase understanding and strengthen the professional knowledge of mathematics among gifted and talented Muslim students and encourage students to cultivate mathematical knowledge throughout life.

The Role of the Agricultural Sector in Sustainable Development: Analysis of Data Availability and Achievement of Sustainable Development Goal Indicators for Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) -- Case Study of Madiun Regency and Madiun City

This research aimed to identify the role of the agricultural sector in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). One of the SDGs related to the agricultural sector was Goal 2, zero hunger. Before assessing the extent of the agricultural sector’s role by measuring the achievement level of indicators in Goal 2, another challenge in evaluating sustainable development progress was data availability. This study employed a case study approach in two areas: Madiun District and Madiun City. The research findings revealed that in Madiun District, out of the 11 indicators in Goal 2, 4 indicators lacked data. In terms of achievement levels, five indicators were achieved and two were not achieved. In contrast, Madiun City had data for each indicator, with eight indicators achieved and three not achieved. The research concluded that data availability for development indicators at the municipal government level was significantly better compared to the district level. The urgency of data availability lies in obtaining an overview of sustainable development achievement in a region and determining future steps through policies and strategic measures, particularly in supporting sectors like agriculture. MOTIVATING AND ACHIEVEMENT FACTORS OF MARRIED FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS IN INDIA: UNVEILING THE KEYS TO SUCCESS

In contemporary times, enterprises run by married women have emerged as a rapidly expanding entrepreneurship group in Tamil Nadu, India. This study explores the influential factors that drive married women to initiate and succeed in their own businesses and to explain their levels of achievement. Based on the insights collected from interviews, observation and focus groups comprised of 50 entrepreneurs, we developed an instrument that included five variables that relate to the driving factors (freedom, spousal support, flexibility, respect and identity) and five variables that relate to the achievement factors (experience, education, government assistance, networks and unique traits/ competencies) of entrepreneurship among married women. Using survey data from 150 entrepreneurs, we further examined key relationships. Among other findings, this study highlights the central role of spousal support as a driving force for the greater success of married female entrepreneurs. The implications of the study findings are examined for both academics and practitioners, and recommendations are given.

Use of semi-empirical models to predict jet noise radiated by unsuppressed and suppressed nozzles

ONERA is involved in two R&T projects related to supersonic aircraft : a self-funded project called PINSON in which a 10-passengers supersonic concept-plane is developed with an aim of reducing consumption, sonic boom and take-off noise, and EU-Project SENECA aiming at providing insights on i) achievable noise levels during takeoff and landing and ii) global climate impact of supersonic aircraft. In both project, the semi-empirical models developed by Stone et al. have been identified as valuable tools for predicting jet noise, which is assumed to be the main contributor to supersonic aircraft noise at take-off. With an aim of extending the work initiated by Jaron et al. in the SENECA framework, ONERA applied Stone et al.'s models to various jet configurations to better understand their domain of validity. Ultimately, the objective is to use those models during engine pre-sizing phase of PINSON project in which a low-noise nozzle equiped with chevrons will be optimized from a multidisciplinary point of view. The objectives of the paper are i) to present the results obtained by applying those models on the EXEJET configurations and ii) to discuss the ability of the latest version of the model to predict chevrons acoustic impact.

Pupils from various dialects of Kadazandusun language face problem in identifying nouns in Kadazandusun Language subject in school as the subject taught in Bunduliwan dialect. This situation requires interesting teaching and learning strategies through the use of language games. This study aims to identify the achievement level of concrete common nouns in the Kadazandusun language using memory card games. This is a quasi-experimental quantitative approach. The data collection instruments used include pre-test, post-test and Memory Card Game. This research was conducted in a primary school in Telupid Tongod district, Sabah. A number of 20 pupils in Year Three were chosen through intact group sampling according to their respective classes. The data was analyzed descriptively using mean and percentage. The result showed that Memory Card Game has increased the level of achievement in concrete common nouns among the treatment group compared to the control group with a mean value of 65.20 compared to 26.20. In conclusion, the Memory Card Game increased the mastery level in learning common concrete nouns in the Kadazandusun Language. This study implied that Memory Card Game can be applied by teachers in rural areas as a tool to improve vocabulary mastery in Kadazandusun Language in primary school.

Carbon Footprint Assessment: Case Studies for Hemp-Based Eco-Concrete Masonry Blocks

In recent times, climate change has become more evident than ever, and measures to slow down its negative effects are imperative for the future of the world. The scientific and economic communities of countries around the world, under the force of international climate agreements, are identifying solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by establishing appropriate measures and developing new strategies. In the context of these objectives, the effort to identify eco-sustainable practices for the construction industry is growing significantly. Recently, much research has focused on solutions for producing green building materials, as well as applying circular economy principles to achieve a balance between anthropogenic emissions and absorptions by greenhouse gas absorbers. The relevant indicators of the level of achievement of these major objectives can be identified, already from the construction design phase, with the help of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis. This paper presents a series of environmental impact analyses for an eco-friendly solution of precast concrete masonry blocks. Ecological concrete is manufactured with aggregates from biological waste resulting from hemp crops. Impact assessments were performed with the SimaPro 9.5 software application. Research has shown that in the production chain, which includes the materials resulting from the recycling and reuse of hemp concrete blocks, the contribution to the effort to achieve neutrality in terms of global warming is significant. The Cradle-to-Cradle scenario revealed that the recycling of hemp concrete masonry blocks at the end of their use, for a functional unit of 0.5 m3, has a GHG emission of 33.5228 [kg CO2-eq] and CO2 uptakes can reach the negative value of −53.8397 [kg CO2-eq]. Thus, the balance of GHG emissions is negative, with values of approximately −20.3169 [kg CO2-eq]. The LCA analyses also reflect a decreased damage to human health, natural resources, and biodiversity when hemp concrete is used for masonry blocks.

Predicting adherence to gamified cognitive training using early phase game performance data: Towards a just-in-time adherence promotion strategy.

This study aims to develop a machine learning-based approach to predict adherence to gamified cognitive training using a variety of baseline measures (demographic, attitudinal, and cognitive abilities) as well as game performance data. We aimed to: (1) identify the cognitive games with the strongest adherence prediction and their key performance indicators; (2) compare baseline characteristics and game performance indicators for adherence prediction, and (3) test ensemble models that use baseline characteristics and game performance data to predict adherence over ten weeks. Using machine learning algorithms including logistic regression, ridge regression, support vector machines, classification trees, and random forests, we predicted adherence from weeks 3 to 12. Predictors included game performance metrics in the first two weeks and baseline measures. These models' robustness and generalizability were tested through five-fold cross-validation. The findings indicated that game performance measures were superior to baseline characteristics in predicting adherence. Notably, the games "Supply Run," "Ante Up," and "Sentry Duty" emerged as significant adherence predictors. Key performance indicators included the highest level achieved, total game sessions played, and overall gameplay proportion. A notable finding was the negative correlation between initial high achievement levels and sustained adherence, suggesting that maintaining a balanced difficulty level is crucial for long-term engagement. Conversely, a positive correlation between the number of sessions played and adherence highlighted the importance of early active involvement. The insights from this research inform just-in-time strategies to promote adherence to cognitive training programs, catering to the needs and abilities of the aging population. It also underscores the potential of tailored, gamified interventions to foster long-term adherence to cognitive training.

Youth Mental Health in the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In this article we examine the current state of youth mental health across the United States and in Delaware, and discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents. We review available literature detailing the short- and long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth mental health and discuss the resultant programmatic and legislative efforts in Delaware and nationally. The COVID-19 pandemic had a severe impact on the mental health of young people. The prevalence of depression and anxiety among children and adolescents, which was already increasing pre-pandemic, spiked after the pandemic's onset. Even as public health precautions have lifted, young people continue to struggle with mental health in conjunction with lower levels of educational achievement, hindered social development, increased screen time, diminished access to effective mental healthcare, and economic instability. The negative impact of the pandemic will continue to have ramifications on the health and wellbeing of young people for years to come. Compiling evidence examining mental health trends is an important first step to understanding the impact of the pandemic on child and adolescent mental health and developing effective solutions. Although the official state of emergency is over, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are far-reaching and long-lasting. It is imperative that legislators and program administrators in Delaware and nationally work to ensure that young people and their families have access to affordable, high quality mental healthcare.

The Impact of Pictures-Based Activities in Enhancing Reading Comprehension Skills Among Young Children

The current research aimed to investigate the impact of integrating pictures-based activities on enhancing reading comprehension skills across different levels: literal, interpretive, and evaluative. The study involved 380 children split into experimental and control groups, with the experimental group (190 pupils) exposed to pictures-based activities, while the control group (190 pupils) was taught conventionally without activities. Findings indicated significantly higher average scores in reading comprehension tests for the experimental group than the control group. Statistical analyses confirmed significant differences favoring the experimental group, demonstrating the effectiveness of pictures-based activities in improving comprehension skills. However, there were no statistically significant differences in performance within the experimental group across different reading achievement levels, suggesting that the benefits of using illustrative pictures were consistent across varying initial reading abilities. Moreover, the study highlighted that integrating pictures-based activities helped narrow the performance gap in reading comprehension skills among children, particularly benefiting those with lower and average reading achievement levels. This empirical evidence underscores the importance of visual aids in early childhood reading materials to support comprehension development. Based on these findings, the study recommended integrating pictures-based activities in early childhood reading textbooks. It also emphasized the need for effective training of early childhood educators in designing and implementing such activities to optimize their impact on children's reading comprehension skills.

Immersive visualization in infrastructure planning: Enhancing long-term resilience and sustainability

Infrastructure decisions today significantly impact future generations' quality of life, especially as severe storms and rising sea levels increasingly threaten communities across the United States. Decision-makers at all levels, including those involved in disaster prevention and response, must address climate change. However, those in infrastructure design and construction often prioritize immediate gains over long-term resilience. Engineering teams typically employ decision tools to manage complexity, but these methods may not highlight the long-term consequences of their choices. This study tests whether integrating Virtual Reality (VR) technology with engineering decision-making tools, can enhance engineers’ ability to visualize the future impacts of their infrastructure projects. A group of engineering students (n = 56) was given a case study on updating roadwork systems in Norfolk, Virginia, an area vulnerable to flooding. The control group viewed images depicting current and future conditions of sea-level rise (year 2100), while the intervention group experienced the same information but through an immersive VR scenario. Participants selected achievement levels for each credit using the Envision system, with total points reflecting the resilience and sustainability of decisions. The results indicate that participants who engaged with the VR experience, achieved higher scores than those who received the images. The results also indicate a variation in VR's impact based on political affiliation, with Democrats responding more positively to the VR experience than Republicans. The findings highlight that integrating VR into decision-making tools can be a crucial advancement in infrastructure planning, enabling engineers to make more informed, sustainable choices for a resilient future.

Assessment of the Implementing The COVID-19 Health Protocol in Pandemic Situation at PT. Bank XYZ Tbk, Medan, Indonesia

Background: Large-scale social Restrictions were implemented in the workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 to February 2022. The government has imposed restrictions on the number of workers in the workplace by implementing COVID-19 protocols at the workplace and work-from-home. This research aims to analyze the implementation of the COVID-19 protocol at PT. Bank XYZ Medan office. Methods: Observational descriptive research provides a clear picture by observing the conditions that occur directly to see how the COVID-19 protocol is implemented at PT.Bank XYZ Medan office. Quantitative methods are used. The instruments are the provision of Health Protocols from the Indonesian Minister of Health Decree No. 328 of 2020 regarding Guidelines for Preventing Control of COVID-19 in Office and Industrial Workplaces to Support Business Continuity in Pandemic Situations. Results: The implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol in the PT. Bank XYZ Medan office has a "Very Good" level of achievement. Companies can maintain the implementation of existing COVID-19 protocols during the pandemic to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the company. Conclusion: PT. Bank XYZ is expected to maintain the implementation of the COVID-19 protocol if the pandemic has not been declared over by the government of the Republic of Indonesia, and in the future improvements can be made to prevent the transmission of other diseases. Employees must continue to follow the regulations set by the company.

This study aims to identify the types and characteristics of collaborative problem-solving skills among test takers in South Korea. For this, process data from the PISA 2015 collaborative problem-solving assessment was analyzed using the K-medoids clustering method. The analysis revealed three distinct types of collaborative problem-solving skills: a fast type that allocates less time to responses, a deliberative type, and a type that engages in a higher number of interactions over a longer period, even when achievement levels are similar. We also analyzed the distribution of correct answer rates and collaborative problem-solving competency scores by cluster and level, confirming that various achievement levels were represented across all clusters. Based on these differences, educational and evaluative intervention strategies were explored, and the implications for assessment were discussed.

The status quo and correlational analysis of nursing practices, burnout, and social support among nurses from private hospitals in Dazhou, a less developed area of China

ObjectiveTo investigate the status quo of nursing practices, job burnout and social support among private hospitals in Dazhou, Sichuan Province, and perform correlational analysis.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted. A total of 244 nurses were surveyed via convenience sampling from 7 private hospitals, which were randomly selected from Dazhou city. A self-designed demographic sociology questionnaire was applied, and the Chinese versions of the Maslach Burnout Scale and the Social Support scale administered from September to November 2022.ResultsThe investigated nurses were relatively young (26.84 ± 4.90 years), had a short duration of service, a low academic background, a low professional title and a low income; however, they were highly satisfied with their working environment and had a low level of burnout, and their level of personal achievement was low. Overtime work, education level and number of children had significant impacts on the level of nurse burnout. The level of social support was high, and various dimensions were negatively correlated with the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions of burnout (r=-0.438, P < 0.01; r=-0.372, P < 0.01) and positively correlated with personal achievement (r = 0.291, P < 0.01). However, the level of social support was not significantly associated with burnout (r=-0.060, p = 0.354).ConclusionsNursing managers in private hospitals should consider ways of improving nurses’ education, professional titles, working environment and increasing nurses’ income to stabilize the nursing team. Efforts should be made to relieve the nurses’ pressure, and notice the overtime work and professional development of nurses to enhance the personal sense of achievement. More measures should be taken to improve the level of social support, thereby promoting the continuous improvement of nursing quality. Due to the uneven level of social and economic development in different parts of China, the extensibility of the research needs to be confirmed by more studies, but it still has important reference significance for Northeast Sichuan, which represents areas with similar social and economic levels.

ПРИОРИТЕТЫ ТЕХНОЛОГИЧЕСКОЙ МОДЕРНИЗАЦИИ ДЛЯ ДОСТИЖЕНИЯ УГЛЕРОДНОЙ НЕЙТРАЛЬНОСТИ ЭКОНОМИКИ КАЗАХСТАНА

This article explores the directions for improving the technological development of Kazakhstan in light of the implementation of the Strategy for Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2060. By studying international experience and assessing the level of technological development and scientific achievements of the country within the context of global trends, the authors identify key problem areas and barriers that hinder the fulfillment of national commitments in researching technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the country's basic economic sectors. The article concludes by justifying the priority paths and mechanisms for the technological modernization of the national economy as a key driver for Kazakhstan's transition to low-carbon development. A Proposed Educational Program Based on the Integrated Entrance in the Classroom Management and its Impact on Cognitive Achievement for Fifth-class Primary Students

This research seeks to build a proposed educational program based on the integrated entrance in the management of the classroom and its impact on cognitive achievement for fifth-class primary students, and for the purpose of verifying the research goal, the two researchers used the descriptive approach because the research requires tools to collect information and data necessary for the current research, where the two researchers built an achievement test for its application to members of the sample of the experimental and control groups after the completion of the application of the educational program prepared by the two researchers for that purpose, and also used the semi -experimental curriculum that is partially controlling for two equal eyes where the two researchers built a proposed program to apply it to the experimental group for the current research . The current research reached the following results: 1- The story and acting methods made the difficult material flexible, entertaining and more depth to link it to the surrounding environment and the daily characteristics of stories and representative roles. 2- The educational program and the patterns of classroom management for the current research help strengthen the bonds of social relations between students themselves and between them and the professors. 3- The program shares by raising the level of achievement for students significantly. The two researchers used many statistical means, including: Person's association, equation, and Speerman – T-Test of one sample, test, and Cocon for two interconnected eyes, Alfa equation. With regard to the results that the current research reached: the results came in favor of the educational program in exchange for traditional methods of teaching, there was an impact on the knowledge achievement of the fifth-class students in the subject of socialism as a result of the application of the educational program based on the integrated entrance in the management of the class .

Family Socio-Economic Factors and Female Students’ Academic Achievements in Day Secondary Schools in Rwanda: A Case of Rubavu District

The research explored the impact of family socio-economic factors on the academic achievements of female students in day secondary schools in Rubavu District, Rwanda. The study aimed to identify the specific socio-economic factors affecting academic performance, assess the academic achievement levels, and analyze the relationship between these factors and student success. The study involved 243 respondents, including 150 students (both males and females),90 teachers, and 3 headteachers from Bugeshi, Busasamana, and Gisenyi Sectors. Data was collected through questionnaires for primary sources, while interviews and observations provided secondary data. Sampling methods included purposive, stratified, and simple random sampling. The research utilized both quantitative and qualitative methods, with IBM SPSS version 21.0 employed for data analysis. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (correlation and regression analysis) were used. Key findings include that 75.3% of respondents strongly agreed that parental education,83.9% noted parental income, and 79.6% mentioned peer groups as critical socio-economic factors influencing academic performance. For academic achievement,72% identified improved exam scores,81.7% highlighted active class participation, and 64.5% pointed to increased confidence and promotion to the next level. The study found no significant correlation between socio-economic factors and academic performance, as most results exceeded the 0.05 significance level. The research recommends that the Ministry of Education review teacher allocation, develop ICT curricula, strengthen adult literacy campaigns, and improve resource provision in day schools. Future research should further investigate socio-economic factors influencing academic outcomes.

THE EFFECT OF THE SEARCH, SOLVE, CREATE, AND SHARE (SSCS) LEARNING MODEL ON THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF STUDENTS

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes from physics of students caused by the models of learning utilized by teachers in schools that are less varied in related to demands of Curriculum 2013. The research purpose is to analyze the model of SSCS learning impact on learning outcomes of students'. The model of SSCS learning is a variation of a methodology that emphasizes problem-solving and has the ability to raise student achievement levels. The Randomized Posttest Only Control Group Design is a quasi-experimental methodology utilized in this research. The sample in this study consisted of 68 students through two classes for sample, known as classes for experimental and control was got by technique of purposive sampling. The instruments used in this research were valid and reliable tests. Based on the research results obtained that the price of t is outside of H0's acceptance region, allowing H1 to be accepted at a real level of 0.05. This indicates that students receiving treatment have different learning results in physics. Thus the conclussion that there is an impact of SSCS learning model on physics learning outcomes of students who are given treatment.

Learning English in the ‘shadow’: Patterns and implications of English private tutoring in Vietnam

Private tutoring has grown in prominence on a global scale. While research in this area has increased in recent decades, there remains a lack of focus on English private tutoring. This gap is particularly evident in Vietnam, where research on English private tutoring has not kept pace with its growing popularity. This article sheds light on the prevalence of English private tutoring among students in public high schools in Vietnam. The study examines the rate, patterns of enrolment, the reasons for its popularity and the perceived effectiveness of English private tutoring. Based on questionnaire data collected from 583 urban, regional, and rural school students, the findings revealed an enrolment rate of over 75%, with notable disparities in enrolment patterns among students in different socio-economic areas. However, despite the prevalence of private tutoring, the research findings revealed a modest impact of such tutoring on student academic performance, evidenced by over 75% of the students reporting slight improvement in their communicative skills. Irrespective of academic achievement levels and backgrounds, private tutoring has been a widespread and normalised educational practice, reflecting the nature of social and educational competition. The study emphasises the need for more proactive measures to regulate the practice before it is well-engrained as part of the culture.

Performance Management Systems and Employee performance in Selected Ministries in Enugu State, Nigeria

The broad objective of this study is to investigate performance management systems and employee performance in selected ministries in Enugu state, Nigeria. Two hypotheses were formulated in line with the objectives of the study. The study adopted a descriptive research design and survey method for data collection. The population of the study was 637. The study sampled the entire population due to the size of the studied population. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire. Data presentation was on tabulated frequency and statistical Mean Score. Hypotheses were tested using a t-test. The results of the findings revealed that Performance planning has significant positive effects on employee performance levels in selected ministries in Enugu state(this is where the t-value = -796.442, and p-value = 0.00); that performance target setting systems do significantly drive positively employee performance level (where t-value = -295.988, and p-value = 0.00); and that Performance monitoring does significantly propel positively employee performance rate (where t-value = -128.604, and p-value = 0.00). The study, therefore, recommends that the Enugu state government should prioritize PMS through proper planning of work and work-related activities by adopting a friendly work environment and by setting clear, measurable goals, setting achievable goals for individuals and organizations; continuously monitoring the level of goal achievement and providing feedback.

The Impact of the Educational Counselor in Promoting Student Achievement Level in Government Schools at Irbid Governorate from School Principal Perspective

One of the purposes and objectives of this research is to identify and assess the impact of the effectiveness of a school counselor on the academic success of students-an effectiveness that is manifested through the provision of academic, psychosocial, and vocational support to students, as well as through the facilitation of the interactions among students, teachers, and parents. In order to accomplish this study, the opinions of 180 public school principals were sought, and they were selected randomly to allow unbiased and generalizable interpretations of the principals in the governorate of Irbid to be the research population. A survey method was employed for data collection, and it consisted of a survey specifically designed for this research study, which contained several paragraphs related to the primary areas of the school counselor's role, as listed above. The responses collected were analyzed by establishing the means and the standard deviations. This research aimed to understand better the significant contribution that school counselors can offer in enhancing the educational process and academic progress within public schools in Irbid. It also confirmed that the multi-faceted support that they provide is essential. Results. In the study evaluating the role of the educational counselor within the scope of the public schools of Irbid, the results of which have been collected from school principals, the work provides a positive evaluation of the perceived influence of the counselors in terms of students' academic achievement across four primary dimensions: academic support that had a mean of 4.2 and a standard deviation of 0.8; psychological support with a mean of 4.0 and standard deviation of 0.9; vocational guidance with a mean of 3.8 and a standard deviation of 0.7; and interaction with parents and teachers with a mean of 4.1 and a standard deviation of 0.6. Such results reveal a high appreciation of the importance of the role of the educational counselor in improving the educational environment and the comprehensive support for the student as the role of the counselor has been exposed as a practical element in supporting the student academically and psychologically, guiding the student professionally, and in addition promoting effective communication between the school and the family.
