The patient was a 12-year-old boy whose main complaint was an enlarging mass in the left mandibular region. The history indicated that he had fallen from a tree 4 months before and was hospitalized at a local medical center. He was diagnosed as having a left subcondylar mandible fracture, and an elastic bandage was applied to correct the occlusion. The patient was discharged as soon as the edema in the neck and submandibular region had subsided. Two months later a progressive swelling appeared in the left parotid region and the patient was referred to the ear, nose, and throat clinic. The initial diagnose was a tumor, and an incisional biopsy was performed before he was referred to our service. Physical examination showed a 15 15-cm, firm, nonpulsating mass in the left mandibular region (Fig 1), left Received from the Ankara Numune Research and Teaching Hospital, Ankara, Turkey. *Plastic Surgeon, Assistant Chief, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. †Plastic Surgeon, Assistant Chief, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. ‡Plastic Surgeon, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. §Department of Radiology.
