Child-friendly education is an educational model that aims to fulfill the rights of the child by providing a comfortable, safe and enjoyable learning environment for both students and teachers. In addition, it enables the participants to learn independently. Because all rules created by educational institutions must include student participation. This context relates to both the students' freedom to express their ideas and the participants' freedom to reach their full potential. This study uses a library-based research methodology using books and scholarly articles on child-friendly schools. The aim of this study is to describe child-friendly education in Islamic educational institutions. In order to realize child-friendly education in educational institutions, we must first develop some components, including the child-friendly school policy. Educators and educational staff are aware of children's rights, child-friendly teaching and learning processes, non-violent discipline and child-safe facilities and infrastructure.

Mathematics in Indian Music: Examining Children's Learning Process

There are many mathematical concepts found in music. Music is integrated into Indian culture. It is a common practice among children in India to engage in music lessons from a young age. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Indian music on the cognitive development of children to understand or reinforce mathematics. Data was collected from three schools in Kolkata, India, through interviews, observations, and survey questionnaires. Six different music classes from three music schools were observed at different times. Observations were documented through pictures, video recordings, running records, and anecdotal records. To supplement these documentations, a field journal was kept at all times. The study was qualitative in nature, and all data were analyzed thematically. The findings suggested the importance of Indian music in children’s cognitive development and how Indian music helped in learning mathematics. Both teachers and parents felt that music builds concentration among children and also helps children with disabilities.

The learning process carried out at each individual's home experienced many obstacles during its implementation, including students easily bored, students' interest in learning decreased, and the learning process carried out was less focused so that the learning process was less effective. The learning process individually experiences obstacles because parents pay less attention to their children's learning process for reasons of being busy working, besides that it is also caused by a lack of knowledge. One solution to overcome this problem is through learning assistance activities which are part of the form of community service. Learning assistance through tutoring activities can improve achievement as well as learning motivation. The implementation of learning assistance with the group work method consists of five stages including: preparation, assessment, planning, intervention, and termination. The existence of this learning assistance activity helps students' ways of thinking become more open so that apart from influencing academics, they also learn how to socialize. This is evidenced by changes in attitude before the activity is carried out and after the activity is carried out.

The Effect of Parent Attention and Teacher's Competency on Students Learning Outcomes During Online Learning

Indonesian language learning content is a program to develop knowledge, language skills, and a positive attitude towards the Indonesian language itself as well as respect for humans and human values. The aims of the study were to analyze the relationship between parental attention and Indonesian language learning outcomes, the relationship between teacher competence and Indonesian learning outcomes, and the relationship between parental attention and teacher competence and Indonesian learning outcomes. This type of quantitative descriptive research. The research population was 344 students of class V elementary school. The research sample was 185 students with random sampling technique. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the study showed that there was no positive and significant relationship between parental attention and the results of learning Indonesian, because the sig score of 0.152 was more than 0.05. There is a significant positive relationship between teacher competency and Indonesian language learning outcomes, because the sig 0.004 score is less than 0.05. There is a jointly significant positive relationship between parental attention and teacher competency with Indonesian language learning outcomes, because the sig or 0.013 result is less than 0.05. Based on the discussion and conclusions, several suggestions can be put forward, including that parents play a very important role in the child's learning process, especially in this case the Indonesian language subject. Therefore, parents must pay attention to their child's learning process.

Pemeriksaan Visus pada Anak Sekolah Dasar Sebagai Upaya Menjaga Mata Pasca Pandemi Covid-19

Eyes are one of the five senses that are useful for getting various kinds of information. While at school, this function plays an important role considering that the teaching and learning process is accepted through the five senses. This is in contrast to the current situation where the pandemic prevents children from attending school face to face. The intensity of learning through gadget media makes parents worried because children will tend to spend more and longer time with these devices so that it can have an impact on children's eye health. Early detection and periodic examination of children's eyes can reduce these problems considering the eye is one of the vital functions of the body. Through visual inspection using the Snellen Chart card, it can detect the function of visual acuity in children. This Community Service Program uses an outreach method at the beginning of the activity by educating students about the importance of maintaining eye health, followed by taking turns checking vision. The target in this program is 102 students accompanied by assistance from teachers and school health workers. Based on the results of the examination, some students (59%) had normal vision and they were very enthusiastic when the education was given. Thus, periodic visual inspection in the school environment is very important to facilitate the learning process in children.

Parental Educational Anxiety during Children's Transition to Primary School in China.

Children's transition from preschool to primary school has long been recognized as a particularly challenging period that can induce parental educational anxiety. As a true portraiture of Chinese parenting, educational anxiety during this transition has attracted considerable attention, given its detrimental effects on children's development and education. This study was aimed at identifying the characteristics of parental educational anxiety and its influencing factors during children's transition to primary school in China. We examined parental educational anxiety and parental educational experience through a questionnaire survey. The sample comprised 26,295 families with children in grade one distributed across nine cities in five provinces. The results indicate that (1) Chinese parents experience some degree of educational anxiety during their children's transition to primary school and are more worried about their children's learning and social adaptation processes than about how the curriculum is taught; (2) scores for parental educational anxiety varied significantly across different regions and urban/rural areas; (3) family socioeconomic status, parents' educational concepts, preschools' entrance preparation work, and primary school enrollment adaptation work are all important factors influencing parental educational anxiety during this transition. Our findings highlight the prevalence of parental educational anxiety in China and the need for effective measures to facilitate a smooth transition.

Parent's Engagement in the Learning Needs of Learners with Down Syndrome in the New Normal Education

This study probed parental engagement in the learning needs of the learners with Down syndrome (DS) in their homes in Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines, during this new normal education. Parents of a child with DS were the primary participants of this study. Merriam’s case study approach was utilized as a research design. Multiple data sources were considered, such as interview transcripts and observation notes during the actual interview. The results show that parents exerted more effort to ensure their children's educational success amidst the pandemic. The findings of the study reveal parents' efforts to catch the attention of their children during the delivery of learning at home. Although parents struggled to extend their children's limited attention span, they managed to find suitable strategies to keep their focus, like using different reinforcements and utilizing videos from social media platforms to teach their children. It is recommended that parents or guardians of children with DS consider pieces of training on how to effectively facilitate their children's learning process. Special Education (SPED) teachers must guide the parents on how to facilitate learning at home together with the school principal, who could initiate teaching pedagogy seminars and training for parents. The seminars and training would help parents and guardians facilitate their child's learning process.

Mathlete: an adaptive assistive technology tool for children with dyscalculia

Purpose The use of technology in teaching and learning process for children is gaining importance. Children with specific learning disabilities have shown positive results with assistive technology tools. Dyscalculia is a specific learning disability in which an individual faces problem in mathematical skills. Around 3–7% of the world population is affected with it. The aim of the current research study is to determine the effectiveness of an assistive technology tool, Mathlete on children with dyscalculia’s early numeracy skills. Such assistive technology tools can serve as a boon for these children. Method A total of 40 children with dyscalculia (Mage = 6.8 years) were a part of the study. The group of 40 children were randomly divided into two groups: experiment group using mathlete for improving their learning (30 children) and a control group using only traditional teaching for learning (10 children). The children were screened for dyscalculia using the screening module of mathlete. Results The two groups showed no significant difference in terms of their socio-economic status, gender and parents education level. Children in the experiment group showed improvement from pre-test to post-test after using mathlete. Also, there was significant difference in learning of both the groups, children in experiment group could understand the concepts better than the ones in control group. Conclusion Mathlete helped improve the mathematical learning of children with dyscalculia from pre-test to post-test.

Benefits of Integrating Technology for Children with Intellectual Disability in Learning Skills: A Quantitative Inquiry Based on the Perspectives of Govt. Special Education Teachers of Sahiwal and Bahawalpur Divisions of the Punjab

With the development of the technology, it is finally integrated in the sector of special education, for teaching and learning process of children with special needs. It enables students to understand difficult concepts and their practical application in life. It also helps children with intellectual disabilities in learning social skills, daily living skills and leisure activities. The study was descriptive to discover the benefits under-consideration phenomena. The objectives of this research were to know the perspectives about benefits of integrating technology in the teaching and learning process of children with intellectual disability. Through the random sampling method, 55 special education teachers were selected for the data collection employed in two divisions of Punjab Province Sahiwal and Bahawalpur. A self-made close ended questionnaire (reliable at .99) used for data collection. Results indicate that the integration of technology can make the process of teaching to children with intellectual disabilities easy and more effective. The perceptions of Govt. special education teachers (BPS16 & 17) working in the Sahiwal and Bahawalpur divisions are quite same about the integrating technology in the teaching-learning process of children with ID. This is significant for the achievement of the students with intellectual disabilities.

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam Masa Pandemi Covid-19

The background of this research is starting from the current problems with the COVID-19 virus outbreak which has made almost all aspects of being locked down, including education which requires learning from home or studying using an online system (in the network), from learning in the network. Researchers want to see and conduct a study on the role of parents in assisting children in the PAI learning process in the Covid-19 era. This study aims to find out how the role of parents in assisting the fiqh learning process in the Covid-19 era at MTs Muhammadiyah 06 Banyutengah. The approach used is a qualitative approach which is carried out by field observations. Data collection techniques are by conducting field observations, interviews and documentation from schools. Data analysis techniques used as learning materials are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.The results of this study are the role of parents in assisting children in the learning process on fiqh subjects at MTS Muhammadiyah 06 Banyutengah. The obstacles experienced were due to 1) signals 2) electronics 3) lack of facilities 4) costs for purchasing data packages. Learning within the network itself is related to online learning, MTS Muhammadiyah 06 Banyutengah uses media, namely WhatsApp as a learning medium and as a learning evaluation. The success of the implementation of online learning for this year has reached 70% because there are still many obstacles experienced by students when doing online learning, even though the school has provided facilities to teachers which is one form of support for online learning so that it is optimal in providing online learning.

Parent satisfaction when schools from home during the COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 crisis has forced education systems around the world to look for alternatives to face-to-face teaching with learning from home. This kind of education system has never existed before in Indonesia. This condition raises parental concerns and dissatisfaction with learning outcomes and children's achievements, resulting in suboptimal parental support. This study aimed to examine the factors related to the level of satisfaction and the role of parents in providing support during the child's learning process from home. This study employed a cross-sectional design involving 130 parents who have children attending the Klaten District State Elementary School, Indonesia. The sampling technique was using proportional simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple logistic regression tests with type one error rates=5%. The results showed that the determinant factor influencing parental dissatisfaction was their perception of the lack of teacher support during the implementation of the home learning system. The low education of parents, their low perception of the learning system from home, and the decreased value of children’s knowledge affect parent satisfaction when schools from home (SFH). These factors contributed 65.42% affect parental support in assisting children when studying during pandemic COVID-19.

Braille Innovation Technology in Teaching and Learning Process For Visual Impairment

The innovation of braille makes learning for children with visual impairments easier. The breakthrough braille innovation developed is able to encourage the creation of creative, active, and practical learning for children with visual impairments. This study aims to collect and analyze articles related to innovation technology of braille for teaching and learning process to visual impairment. The design of study used literature review that use data collection methods with search related topics, data analysis and also writing research results. The results of this study that braille innovations technology for reading, writing and conceptualizing of reading are useful in the learning process of children with visual impairments.

This study aims to determine the interest in counting of grade IV students in learning at SDN 15 Lolong. This type of research uses qualitative methods. Data collected by observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Teacher's research subject class IV and 2 students in class IV. The results of the study show that students' lack of interest in learning and the lack of teachers using media in learning and the limitations of the media for teaching materials and the lack of parental concern for children's learning process at home, thus causing the weak integrity of students

Serious Game for VR Road Crossing in Special Needs Education

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that can impair communication, social skills, living skills, and learning capabilities. Learning approaches usually differ between mainstream schools and special needs schools, to cater for the different learning processes of children with ASD. Besides the traditional classroom-based education, alternative technology and methods are explored for special needs education. One method is to train children with ASD using Virtual Reality (VR) technologies. Many prior works show the effectiveness of VR-based learning with varying degrees of success. Some children with ASD may face challenges to gain independent living skills. Their parents or guardians have to expend a significant amount of effort in taking care of children with ASD. It will be very helpful if they can have a learning opportunity to gain such living skills. In this research, we develop a VR serious game to train children with ASD one of the basic living skills for road crossing safely. The VR serious game operates on multiple types of platforms, with various user interaction inputs including the Microsoft Kinect sensor, keyboard, mouse, and touch screen. The game design and methodology will be described in this paper. Experiments have been conducted to evaluate the learning effectiveness of the road crossing game, with very positive results achieved in the quiz and survey questionnaire after the gameplay.

Parental Guidance, Teacher Performance and Learning Achievement

Guidance is one factor that can support the smooth learning of a child. Another factor that is also important in a child's learning process is the teacher's performance. If it can be done well, the level of student achievement will also be good. This study aims to analyze the influence of parental and teacher performance on student achievement, either partially or jointly. This type of research is ex post facto analysis, which is done to find out what had happened and then pulled back through the data to determine the factors that precede or the causes of the incident. This study uses a quantitative approach that is research that requires the respondent to be made objects on the questionnaire, and the results will be analyzed using statistics—analysis of data using multiple regression analysis. The study's results generally showed that parental and teacher performance significantly influences student achievement. In particular, the results of the research show that the guidance of parents does not have a significant effect on student achievement. In contrast, teacher performance has a significant impact on student achievement. With these results, it can be argued that collectively, parental and teacher performance substantially affects student achievement.

Parental Assistance for Children's Learning Process in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic

<p class="Abstract"><em>The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the education sector is very significant. The face-to-face learning process turned into distance learning. This study aimed to obtain information about parental understanding and forms of parental support for children in the learning process during the Covid-19 Pandemic Era in Ngoro Tengah Hamlet, Triyagan Village, Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative. In this research, we distributed questionnaires to parents of school-age children. And then, we provide counseling and distribute the questionnaires again. The results obtained are that it can be seen that the level of understanding of the community in the Ngoro Tengah Hamlet, Triyagan Village, Mojolaban District, and Sukoharjo Regency regarding the children's learning process in the Covid-19 pandemic era is relatively high, but it turns out that in the process of implementing online learning the respondents in this study stated that the difficulties in implementing online learning and feel that online learning makes respondents difficult and not optimal and the role of parents in the form of support for children in the learning process shows a good response with 95.77% supporting online learning.</em></p>

What affects gestural learning in children with and without Autism? The role of prior knowledge and imitation

The present study examined whether prior knowledge to the learning target and imitation during learning affected learning outcomes in preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD, N = 22) compared to their typically developing (TD, N = 15) peers. Children’s gestural skills in recognizing and producing the target gestures before and after the training, as well as their imitative behavior during the training were coded. Results showed that consistent prior knowledge benefited gestural learning in both groups. Besides, only children with ASD were hindered by inconsistent prior knowledge. Notably, the effect of imitation was not significant in the ASD group. In conclusion, the learning process in children with ASD may differ from those with typical development, suggesting special-designed interventions are required.

Secondary school organisation and home–school collaboration: a tale of two systems

The paper contrasts the frailties endemic to same-age organisation with the advantages claimed by schools that have adopted a vertical tutoring (VT) systemFindingsThe choice of organisational structure is a major influence on a school's capacity to develop the home–school collaboration needed to liberate individual and organisational learning. Same-age organisational structure has a reduced capacity for building the collaborative partnerships needed to engage parents in their child's learning process. Multi-age organisation matches capacity with learning demand, enabling agency and liberating management.Research limitations/implicationsCurrent approaches to modelling rarely consider same-age operative structure and so are destined to restrict rather than enable home–school collaboration. The adoption of VT by schools broadens the scope of organisational analysis, positing a need for multi-disciplinary research able to link the form of school organisation to individual and organisational learning.Originality/valueVT is rarely mentioned in the research literature as an alternative to same-age structuration. This paper addresses this issue and draws upon complexity science, autopoietic theory, and systemic thinking to explain why current models of home–school collaboration are insufficiently situated in organisational practice.

PERAN ORANG TUA DALAM MEMOTIVASI BELAJAR ANAK STUDY FROM HOME (SFH) SEBAGAI UPAYA MEMUTUS PENULARAN CORONAVIRUS DISEASE

This study is a literature review with the aim of knowing the critical involvement of parents in encouraging children to study at home in an effort to break the chain of transmission of the Coronavirus disease. This study was conducted in six stages: selection of study subjects, literature review, literature reduction, organizing literature, literature review, and drawing conclusions. Sources of data used are secondary data sources. Data and information retrieval was obtained using documentation techniques such as finding more relevant data from various sources including e-books, study journals, scientific articles, news, and other study-related documents. The findings of this study indicate that parents play an essential role in their children's learning process at home, especially in providing education and motivation to children to continue learning in the midst of the current Coronavirus disease outbreak

DISTRIBUTIVE LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR, PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT AND THEIR IMPACT ON STUDENTS’ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: A MEDIATING EFFECTOF LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR

ABSTRACT Children are active learners who continually attempt to balance their internal conceptions and view of reality with extrinsic recreations or the outer facts children encounter in their world. The interrelationship between humans and their social and physical environments significantly impacts the education and growth of children. An increasing body of research has shown that their home learning experience is vital in figuring out what they are interested in. This shows how important it is for parents to be involved in their children's learning process, and an educator's leadership behaviors indirectly magnify this process. This research aimed to determine the scope and level of parental engagement activities in schools and their impact on parents' participation with their children at home. Furthermore, the impact of parental involvement at home on their children's academic performance is also being studied. The sample consisted of 175 principals, 1575 teachers, 1750 pupils, and 1750 parents from six districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The data was acquired using established and self-administered questionnaires for leadership behavior and parental engagement. The result shows that the mediational effect of distributive leadership behaviors on parental engagement at home is outside the interval and is not working as a mediator. The educator's work experience significantly affects parental engagement at +1 standard deviation of work experience. Furthermore, parental engagement at home has a tremendous and positive effect on students' academic performance.
