User Interface Design for Dyslexia Children Learning Application using Design Thinking Approach

The ability to read and count is essential to be mastered by every student to foster future academic and professional success. However, students with dyslexia have limited ability to read and count. Using learning apps can help children with dyslexia develop reading and counting skills. User interface design is an essential aspect of application development. The research aims to develop a user interface design for learning applications for dyslexic children. User interface design development methods use design thinking approaches that have levels of empathy, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The development of user interface design of learning applications also involves gamification and multi-sensory to help improve students’ understanding of dyslexia when using applications. Evaluation of user interface design using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method yields a total average value of 82. This shows that the user interface design of learning applications for students with dyslexia is acceptable and suitable for users.

Design of the INARA (Inclusive and Gender Responsive Historia) Application: Accentuating Inclusive and Gender-Responsive History Learning

This article aims to elaborate on the initial development of the historical learning application design, INARA (Inclusive and Gender Responsive Historia). The authors gathered data from literature reviews, including journal articles and online media, which were analyzed using a SWOT approach. The study's results showcase examples of inclusive and gender-responsive features in this application, such as games, quizzes, QR codes, and comics focusing on female heroes in Indonesia. The application is also designed with specific features to support differently-abled students in learning history. It is hoped that INARA can become a creative, engaging, and critical medium for history learning at school levels. Its innovative design and inclusive features make a valuable contribution to the scholarly discourse in education. This article is expected to enrich the understanding of utilizing technology to support inclusive and gender-responsive history learning. As part of further development efforts, INARA is anticipated to become a progressive educational solution supporting various learning needs.

Cognizance detection during mental arithmetic task using statistical approach

The handheld diagnosis and analysis are highly dependent on the physiological data in the clinical sector. Detection of the defect in the neuronal-assisted activity raises the challenge to the prevailing treatment that benefits from machine learning approaches. The congregated EEG data is then utilized in design of learning applications to develop a model that classifies intricate EEG patterns into active and inactive segments. During arithmetic problem-solving EEG signal acquired from frontal lobe contributes for intelligence detection. The low intricate statistical parameters help in understanding the objective. The mean of the segmented samples and standard deviation are the features extracted for model building. The feature selection is handled using correlation and Fisher score between {Fp1 and F8} and priority ranking of the regions with enhanced activity are selected for the classifier models to the training net. The R-studio platform is used to classify the data based on active and inactive liability. The radial basis function kernel for support vector machine (SVM) is deployed to substantiate the proposed methodology. The vulnerable regions F1 and F8 for arithmetic activity can be visualized from the correlation fit performed between regions. Using SVM classifier sensitivity of 92.5% is obtained for the selected features. A wide range of clinical problems can be diagnosed using this model and used for brain-computer interface.

Microsoft Excel Learning Application Design with Android Based using Gamification Method

Microsoft excel is software can support performance in data processing, microsoft excel provides formulas and function that can be used to facilitate perfomance in data processing. Utilization of microsoft excel can be used in every day life in business and educational activities. Microsoft excel can perform arithmetic calculation, so can simplifying the assessment results and as an alternative that can provide maximum results. The purpose of this research is design and build a microsoft excel learning application with the gamification method to increase behavioral intention to use and immersion in the learning process to provide an alternative learning process in learning formulas and functions in microsoft excel. The method used in this study was designed and built with the gamification method using the six steps to gamification framework developed by Kevin Werbach in 2016. The results of this learning application have been evaluated by 32 respondents by filling out a survey based on the Hedonic Motivation System Adoption Model. From the survey, 77.5% were obtained for the behavioral intention to use aspect and 64.53% were obtained for the immersion aspect. The conclusion of this study in implementing gamification using the six steps to gamification framework states that they agree with evidence of 77.5% for the behavioral intention to use aspect and 64.53% for the immersion aspect.

Designing Interactive Learning Application Using Markerless Augmented Reality on Evolution of Atomic Theory Material

To increase student understanding and enrich the learning experience, research was conducted with the aim of designing a interactive learning application using markerless augmented reality as an interesting solution. This is because learning applications use augmented reality in evolution of atomic theory material into a form of education that combines innovative technology with personalized learning, so that it can help create a generation that is technologically skilled and ready to face future challenges. This research includes educational design research using Plomp development model, including preliminary research stage by doing the needs and context analysis, literature review, and theoretical framework and prototyping stage, including initial plan and self evaluation. For the results based on preliminary research data and the prototyping phase, it can be concluded that the design of learning applications using Plomp development model which produces prototype II that has been successfully run as expected according to the design based on the results of analysis in preliminary research. This application prototype is hoped to be continued to produce learning applications that can be used in schools to support chemistry learning.

Android-Based Mobile Learning Application Design: Its Implementation and Evaluation for Aiding Secondary School Students' to Study Inorganic Compound Nomenclature

Inorganic compound nomenclature is one of the most basic concepts in chemistry. Therefore, for students, correct naming of the chemicals is essential before learning advanced chemistry. However, nomenclature as a learning topic consists of rules and thus requires frequent practice. Tenth graders will face difficulties if they have remember thousands of the chemicals' names. The objective of this research is to develop and validate the effectiveness of android-based learning media to help students in learning chemical compound nomenclature. In order to meet the goal, this study was conducted in stages; they are (1) information collection, (2) planning, (3) product draft development, (4) small-scale trials, (5) product revisions, and (6) large-scale trials. The effectiveness of the examined mobile-app was measured using post-test questions, resulting in 87.88% student completion. Furthermore, since experts have been in agreement concerning the validity of the examined mobile app – both the content and the media, the app can be used for learning process.

Comparison Of Waterfall And Prototyping Models In Research And Development (R&D) Methods For Android-Based Learning Application Design

<p><strong>Design of learning applications that use Development Methods (Research and Development/R&D) using a commonly used system development methodology, namely SDLC (System Development Life Cycle). Several stages of SDLC consist of planning, analysis, design, implementation to system maintenance. The SDLC concept is the basis of various types of software development models to form a framework in planning and controlling information systems. The SDLC model that is often used in research and development (R&D) research for the development of Android -based learning applications is a waterfall and prototyping model. The comparison of the two models states that the waterfall model is more suitable for a system or software that is generic or in the form of software that can provide services to the buyer. While prototyping is more suitable for customize systems or software, meaning software made based on demand and needs (even certain situations and conditions). In accordance with the analysis obtained, the two methods have the advantages and disadvantages of each, so that the developer can choose which method is more suitable for the development of the software.</strong></p>

UI/UX Design for Language Learning Mobile Application Chob Learn Thai Using the Design Thinking Method

Thai language is one of the most difficult languages to learn because the Thai language itself has a variety of consonants, vowels, and tones to determine vocabulary. The problem is people currently have in learning Thai is the lack of knowledge about each consonant, vowels, or tones. So that it makes some people who want to learn Thai feel confused. Therefore, a Thai language learning application design was made which aims to make it easier for people who want to learn Thai language and of course it is more practical because it is in a mobile form that can be accessed anywhere and anytime easily. Design thinking is a method known as a comprehensive thinking process that aims to create a solution. In design thinking are have five stages, namely Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. At the test stage, the method used is Single Ease Question. The Single Ease Question has seven Likert scales where for a value range of 4 – 5.9 it is included in the interpretation quite easily, and in the range of 6 – 6.9 the interpretation is easy and for a value of 7, the interpretation is very easy. The result obtained after testing the prototype to the respondents the value obtained is 6.6 with a minimum value of 6 and a maximum value of 7. Thus, the result of 6.6 are included in the category of being easy to use by users.

Learning Application Design Using Physicatz of Geography and Science Edition: Solar System for High School

A brand-new comprehensive education application by Physicatz in the edition of the science of solar system has been developed and tested in a teaching-learning activity in State High School 30 Jakarta on 09 April 2020. The purpose of this research is to know the eligibility of using this comprehensive application for instructional activity as a learning media for this subject. This application’s features consist of a magnificent 3D solar system reading material, an interactive quiz, exercises, and a video-based comic that will take us to explore the solar system. The method used in this research was ADDIE Instructional Design (ID) methods with steps: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Develop, (4) Implement, (5) Evaluate. This research was tested on 100 students of 10th grade State High School 30 Jakarta. This application has been tested through validity examination and received an average percentage of 83,44% from the professional subject matter, 92,31% from the professional learning resources, and 91,97% from the subject matter teacher. The students also took part in the test of using this application to learning Earth and Space Science: the solar system, and received an average percentage of 91,99%.

Design of Android Based on Android Based Learning and Introduction to Muslim Cendiciawan Applications

Along with the development of information technology, nowadays many devices have been created to make it easier to access information. The information system about Muslim scholars is currently still dominated by books. Therefore, a learning application will be made that utilizes information technology based on mobile android. The purpose of this research is to produce applications that are easy to understand in understanding the influence of Muslim scholars in the development of science and provide information to children about Muslim alcoholism in influencing the development of science. The research method used in this study uses the Waterfal method. The results that can be accessed from this study is an android application that contains information on intellectual biographies. Based on the results of the test data on the design of learning applications and the introduction of android-based Muslim scholars using questionnaire testing to the teacher council. It is found that this application is included in the "Good" category.

Design of learning applications using the Rapid Application Development method

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the current era of globalization has become a fundamental requirement in supporting the effectiveness and quality of the education process. Educational issues in Indonesia such as the quality and relevance of education, access and equity in education, geographical range, education management, autonomy and accountability, efficiency and productivity, budget and sustainability, cannot be overcome without the help of ICTs. ICT-based education is a means of interaction between management and administration of education, which can be used by both educators and education staff and students in improving the quality, productivity, effectiveness and access to education. The purpose of this study is to find out how to design e-learning applications in informal and non-formal education, as well as efforts to improve the use of e-learning in informal and non-formal education. So that the results of this study can be improved the quality of informal and non-formal education, and can facilitate the field of education in Indonesia by using information technology as an interactive learning medium. The method developed in designing e-learning applications is to use a method that is generally used in the development of information systems using Rapid Application Development. The system that has been built can provide information about distance learning in informal and normal education. In addition, the system that has been built can accelerate the learning process for students / tutors. Therefore, it does not take long in the learning process and to get new material from the teacher. Moreover, the system built can facilitate users in learning and communicating with teachers when there is information needed / needed from the teacher.

Mandarin M-Comic Application Design in Supporting Mandarin Vocabulary Learning

Smartphones are a companion for every young generation in everyday life. Nowadays, conventional learning that tends to be monotonous would be able to utilize mobile applications as an alternative learning media. During this time students have difficulty in memorizing and applying vocabulary into everyday conversation. Therefore, the problem in this research is the design of learning applications that make it easier for students to learn vocabulary. Besides that, students also have difficulty in understanding how to use vocabulary, as well as the context of use in daily conversation. This study uses a survey method of 34 students selected with a purposive sampling technique that was conducted for two months. Survey data were analyzed to find out the needs of students in the application of learning Mandarin vocabulary which is fun and informative so that it becomes the basis in determining the design of Mandarin comic strip applications. The survey results show that there is a need for new digital learning media to be entertaining, which can support learning Chinese vocabulary. Through this research, the author offers a Mandarin comic strip (M-Comic) application design, as well as a design feature that will be developed by the author in the future.

Mobile Learning (M-Learning) Based Learning Application Design for Elementary School Students

This study was designed to produce a learning design based on Mobile Learning (M-Learning) that is appropriate for elementary school students. In making this instructional media design, the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method consists of six stages: concept, design, obtaining material, assembly, testing, and distribution, but in this study only carried out two stages, concept and design. The results showed that the MDLC method privides the feasibility percentage of: media experts amounted to 89.44%; material experts amounted to 92,89%, and teachers amounted to 93.3%. Mobile Learning Application Design to Promote Youth Financial Management Competency in Thailand

<p class="0abstract">Financial knowledge is an important factor in a country’s economic and financial security and its citizens’ lives and there is much related research indicating that technology will help, especially in the case for the mobile learning application model. This has the potential to educate and for the knowledge to be shared via the social network and social share and for the student to access vast learning sources to cultivate appropriate habits in financial management as they grow up. The purpose of the study was to design and develop a mobile application, including confirmatory factor analysis to learn and promote youth's financial management competency. This study used mixed methods in research both quantitative and qualitative approaches to explore research by collecting the comments from 5 regions in Thailand totaling 957 students and the qualitative data of 10 teachers by interviews. The results found that 98.75% of students had a smart mobile phone and that the students need a mobile application which can be used for learning everywhere (64.89%), supporting smart mobile phones both iOS system (Apple) and Android (66.04%), mobile learning design consisting of infographics, animation, sound and video (65.41%), The respondents needed the scaffolding application that is both flexible and fixed at the highest level (67.50%) and scenario-based learning in daily life at the (84.64%) and a financial pretest which motivated mobile application learning.</p>

Design of Web-based Lightweight Interactive Multimedia for Distance Learning

Electronic learning based on Information and Communication Technology is one of the backbone behind the success of distance learning because it is actually able to save cost, time, and resources. To optimize the quality of this learning, more variety and interactive content with the support of multimedia elements (such as text, images, animations, sounds and video) is required. This research proposes a design of web-based lightweight interactive multimedia application combined with a game approach to support distance learning. This design employs web technologies based on pure HTML5, CSS3, and AJAX scripting that offer rich interactivity and lightweight performance. This research produces an interesting and fun learning application design that able to motivate students to self-learning.

INTEGRATION OF PERSUASIVE MULTIMEDIA IN DESIGNING LEARNING APPLICATION FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

This paper focuses on the design of learning application with the purpose to provide knowledge on child sexual abuse (CSA) to children ages 7 to 9 years old. Currently, children are not aware of prohibited adult touches to their body due to lack of knowledge on CSA. Moreover, information on how to avoid potential of CSA and self protection is still lacking. In such situation, they need to be educated and made aware of the danger of sexual abuse. In providing a better learning aid, this study incorporates multimedia learning and persuasive technology in developing a learning application named Persuasive Multimedia Learning Application (PMLA). Additionally, this study also adopts the components in constructivist learning environment (CLE) for the organization of the contents in designing PMLA. Then, perceived motivation test was conducted to assess children’s learning experience after using the application. The results show that the integration of multimedia and persuasive technology has potential in motivating children in using the application and facilitating them for better understanding on CSA.

Exploring self-directed learning and the role of virtual badges in a mobile social learning platform

This paper presents experiences from a seamless mobile learning project in Singapore. It describes SamEx mobile learning application design by focusing on the possibilities for self-directed learning and the role of virtual badges gathered by the students during their one year SamEx usage. All the activities were structured by the teachers and scaffolded by the SamEx system tools such as contextually triggered questions and prompts. The paper describes experiences from the one-year SamEx usage period, gives an elaborate example of students learning experience during the period, and concludes by examining the effects of such an approach when it comes to summative exam results. The paper concludes that platforms such as SamEx have the potential of nurturing self-directed and collaborative learning and that badges can only motivate students to learn meaningfully when the teachers provide the suitable learning contexts.

Aspects of Content, Context and Adaptation Modeling in Mobile Learning Application Design

Mobile leaning application development has been influenced by the e-learning models, methods and a variation of these for the better understanding and accommodation of additional elements that prop up in m-learning scenarios and applications. Here uniquely designed models for various aspects of m-learning scenarios and situations by concentrating on Learner Styles or Contextual Features or Learning Content or Learner Behavior or Adaptation methods are proposed.

An Intelligent and Object-oriented Blueprint for a Mobile Learning Institute Information System

The purpose of this conceptual paper is to develop an original framework that summarizes the applicable software model, and guiding approaches and principles for designing a comprehensive information system for a mobile learning institute. Artificial intelligence has played a role in various strands of computer-mediated education, including e-learning learning platforms. In adaptive delivery mode, learning applications simulate the behavior and interaction of human teachers. AI functionality can be incorporated into mobile learning because mobile devices have the processing power and operate in wireless networks. In addition, the individual elements of the framework are illustrated in industry-standard Unified Modeling Language diagrams. A review of educational and artificial intelligence literatures shows how these fields are related and helps identify techniques to develop smart mobile learning applications. An overview of mobile learning application design helps build a theoretical foundation in this area. The individual parts of the proposed framework are: the architectural framework, cognitive framework, project definition framework, application design framework, and organizational framework. The organizational framework lays the conceptual foundation for creating and implementing an information system within a newly established mobile learning institute. This paper fills a gap in the literature as there is currently no comprehensive overview of this topic. Furthermore, there are currently no existing schools, organizations, or individual departments within that focus only on and provide mobile learning. In addition to fostering the development of such a mobile learning institute, the proposed framework is also useful for guiding technical work on content design.
