Analyzing Key Barriers to the Success of the Merdeka Belajar Campus Merdeka Program

This study is grounded in the premise that the full implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) strategy has been hindered by challenges related to insufficient human resources and inadequate infrastructure. The research aims to identify the key factors influencing the successful implementation of the MBKM program, with a focus on State Universities in West Borneo. Employing a qualitative research approach, the study gathers data primarily through in-depth interviews. The findings reveal several critical determinants affecting the program's success. These include the commitment and strategic vision of university leadership, the establishment of a dedicated unit to oversee program implementation, strong partner support and engagement, a positive attitude within the academic community towards the MBKM initiative, active and effective participation of program supervisors, proactive and innovative student involvement, contributions from academic staff in administrative roles, the availability of standardized operating procedures, and alignment between curriculum planning and program objectives.

An Analysis of the Synergistic Impact of Leadership and Stakeholder Involvement: School-Based Quality Improvement Management

This research aims to analyze the synergistic impact between school leadership and stakeholder involvement in efforts to improve the quality of education at the Al Hijrah Integrated Islamic Middle School, Deli Serdang. A descriptive quantitative approach was used as a research method, and data was collected using questionnaires from respondents, namely the school principal and all school stakeholders. The results of the research show that school leadership that is synergistic and involves school stakeholders has a great influence on the management of improving school quality. Strong leadership and active stakeholder involvement have a significant positive impact on school-based quality improvement management. Visionary and learning-oriented leadership plays a key role in formulating a shared vision and strategy to improve the quality of education. The involvement of stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and the community, provides support, input, and active participation in the implementation of quality improvement programs. The synergy between effective leadership and involving stakeholders can create a collaborative and supportive learning environment. This leads to achieving the goals of better quality education, improving the quality of learning, and holistic development of student potential.

Cyber Pragmatic Analysis of Impoliteness Strategies Used by Detractors and Supporters of Presidential Candidates in Online Conflicts

Leading Change and Innovation Effectively in Secondary Schools: A Literature Review

This literature review investigates the concepts of innovation and change within the context of secondary education, distinguishing between these concepts while highlighting their interconnectedness. It emphasizes the importance of leadership in driving innovation and change to better prepare students for the 21st-century workforce, enhance student engagement and achievement, and address issues of equity and inclusion. Effective leadership is shown to be crucial for fostering a culture of adaptability, creativity, and continuous improvement in schools. The review also explores various theoretical frameworks, including Fullan’s educational change theory, Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation, and Lewin’s process theory, to provide a comprehensive understanding of how change and innovation are implemented and sustained in educational settings. Challenges such as resistance to change, limited resources, and the need for teacher professional development are discussed, along with strategies to address these issues. Predicted and Prized Critical Skills for a Graduate to Produce Effective Innovation

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have been mandated with the task to train and produce graduates with the capability to contribute to the economy and improve societies through teaching and learning. Furthermore, they are tasked with the responsibility to produce graduates with the capability to produce innovations that change the world for the better. For a university to produce such graduates it would need to focus on the curriculum and ensure that the skills and knowledge taught are relevant to produce innovative graduates. The purpose of this research paper was to identify the predicted and prized skills that a graduate can use to produce groundbreaking innovations. This objective would yield guidance on the most critical skills that should be included in a BCom degree to produce graduates with the capability to produce groundbreaking innovations. This research employed a Mixed-method approach with the use of both qualitative and quantitative approach. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews with 11 participants from the University of Johannesburg commercialisation units and an online questionnaire from 69 innovation experts from the South African Business Innovation Community (Innovation Summit), and the Innovation, Sustainability and Visionary Leadership Group. Data was collected through descriptive content analysis with the aid of Atlas.ti and inferential statistical analysis. This study is part of a completed PhD study, the reporting is only on Predicted and Prized critical skills for a BCom degree graduate. Based on the results ideation, reasoning, problem solving, complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity and analytical thinking are skills and competences predicted to improve innovation and produce graduates with the capability to innovate. Furthermore, based on the results critical thinking, judgement and decision making are very significant skills for a person with a BCom degree. In conclusion, HEIs should place more emphasis on critical thinking skills within the curriculum and complex problem-solving skills. These skills should not only be exclusive to certain programmes but throughout the entire HEI’s curriculum.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have been tasked with the responsibility to generate knowledge through research and educate students and PRODUCE graduates with the capability to innovate and develop business innovation through entrepreneurial teaching. Therefore, it is significant for a university to align itself with the needs of the industry to PRODUCE graduates with the capability to PRODUCE business innovation. The purpose of this research was to determine aspects considered relevant in the Higher Education curriculum to PRODUCE graduates ready to develop business innovation and become entrepreneurs. The mixed-method research approach was deemed suitable for this research, therefore both qualitative and quantitative data were collected through the use of semi-structured interviews with 11 participants from the University of Johannesburg commercialisation units and an online questionnaire from 69 innovation experts from the South African Business Innovation Community (Innovation Summit), and the Innovation, Sustainability, and Visionary Leadership Group. In conclusion, more emphasis should be reflected in the Higher Education curriculum on these aspects mentioned above to PRODUCE graduates ready and capable of developing and producing business innovation. Higher Education Institutions should regularly implement interventions to improve their curriculum to best suit the needs of the industry or the business sector.

The Role of the Inclusive Leader in Driving Innovation: An Example of a Teal Organisation

The role of the leader is to create change and indicate the direction in which the organisation should go. Leader is the one who inspires, creates the organisational culture and builds emotional relationships that result in a much more effective company. His or her activity also influences the level of innovation in the company - the more inspired a co-worker perceives a leader and the greater his or her capabilities and freedom of action, the greater the chance of creating newer or even revolutionary solutions. The author's research has shown that the role of a leader in an innovative organisation cannot consist only in creating and promoting a vision, and then inspiring others to make it a reality. It can be concluded that the period of feisty and charismatic visionary leaders is slowly passing into oblivion, and their place is being taken by leaders who are able to discover and unleash the creative potential of the entire team in their talented colleagues. Amidst the evolving landscape of businesses, there is a growing focus on identifying key traits of leadership essential for effective organizational change. It is advocated that every organization should draw on these traits to innovate its employee resources. The presented results show the results of four years of research within the framework of the project entitled Teal Organisations: developing self-management and entrepreneurial culture in the age of Economy 4.0. The research shows how the understanding of innovation, the role of leadership has changed over several years and what research gaps are emerging. The research targeted micro and small enterprises in the family business sector. Insights from the third stage conducted in 2023 shed light on the qualities and competencies of leaders. The study’s findings highlight that leadership fosters better team outcomes through enhanced decision-making and collaboration. Our research shows, that leaders are required to acquire, develop and refine the skills of facilitating the work of a team to effectively and continuously generate innovation. The leader must master several skills, i.e. knowing the tools of creative team work, allowing the free flow of information, the ability to integrate ideas in order to create a new, better idea, so that the valuable ones do not get diluted and are qualified for further innovative work through well-considered decisions.

The Role of Organizational Commitment and Innovation In Mediating The Influence of Visionary Leadership and Competence on Employee Performance

This study explores the impact of visionary leadership and competence on employee performance, with a focus on the mediating roles of organizational commitment and innovation. Conducted within the context of civil servants in Pekanbaru City, this research employs a quantitative approach to investigate the relationships between these variables. The results reveal that visionary leadership has a significant positive effect on employee performance, both directly and through the mediating role of organizational commitment. Competence also significantly influences employee performance, but this effect is primarily channeled through innovation, which acts as a key mediator. The findings underscore the importance of fostering visionary leadership and enhancing competence to boost organizational commitment and innovation, ultimately leading to improved employee performance. This study contributes valuable insights into the mechanisms by which leadership and competence can be leveraged to achieve higher levels of performance in public sector organizations. Practical implications include strategies for developing leadership and competence to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of civil servants.

Sustainable leadership among financial managers in Spain: A gender issue

Finance plays a key role in supporting sustainable companies, thereby contributing, and supporting the transition towards a low carbon and circular economy. At the strategic level, finance can aid companies make decisions regarding the trade-offs between their sustainable goals. Therefore, key players in this respect are finance managers who need to take decisions regarding the latter. This study analyzed the level of sustainable leadership among financial managers in Spain. A total of 131 senior financial managers (106 men and 25 women), from various sectors in Spanish companies (a multi-sector study), responded to two scales: the Honeybee Sustainable Leadership Scale (focusing on stakeholder orientation and a vision of social and shared leadership) and the Locust Leadership Scale (primarily centered on achieving short-term profits at any cost). A descriptive analysis of the sample was conducted. The t-test was applied for comparing means and the Mann-Whitney U test statistical technique was used under conditions where the assumptions of normality and homogeneity of variance were violated. In the hypothesis testing, a significance level of p<0.05 was employed. The main finding was that female financial managers scored significantly higher on the Honeybee Leadership Scale compared to their male counterparts, signifying that female presence is key to sustainable leadership. Therefore, including women in higher corporate-level positions would contribute to a more sustainable approach in management. Furthermore, it was also found that the organizations in which the financial managers worked tended to undertake a hybrid approach to sustainable leadership. Most companies undertook a hybrid perspective incorporating elements of both diametrically opposed bee and locust leadership philosophies.

The Performance and Soft Skills: Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia

The challenge of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Indonesia plays a crucial role and requires enhancement. The pivotal role of HEIs in Indonesia is multifaceted. These institutions play a crucial part in shaping the country's cultural and religious identity, while also providing education that aligns with contemporary demands. This study explored the performance and soft skills among lecturers and administration staff in Islamic HEIs. The study emphasizes performance and soft skills based on managerial effectiveness in Islamic HEIs in Indonesia. The performance and soft skills explored from critical analyses of global literature. The study was conducted in Lombok, Indonesia, among 3 Islamic HEIs. Methods used were literature review, observation, and in-depth interviews. The software used was NVIVO 14 with the relative thematic analysis of the study. Findings on the HEIs model soft skills proposed to address enhancing administration staff performance and lecturer performance. By nurturing these soft skills, organizations thrive when they cultivate alignment, creativity, adaptability, and effective management and avoid mushroom management. Mushroom management in the context of organizational management and leadership styles represents a management style that is characterized by secrecy, lack of transparency, and limited employee involvement in decision-making processes. The results proposed the model to address enhancing administration staff performance through alignment value, change management, and Islamic leadership. The model addresses enhancing lecturer performance through alignment value, change management, Islamic leadership, and divergent thinking. By nurturing these soft skills, organizations thrive when they cultivate alignment, creativity, adaptability, and effective performance management. Administration staff performance impacts the lecturer’s performance besides the lecturer’s performance itself. Research suggests that organizations can benefit greatly from nurturing soft skills and adopting more transparent and inclusive leadership practices to avoid mushroom management. The practical implication of this research proposed model for enhancing administration staff and lecturer performance in Islamic higher education institutions (HEIs) includes administration staff performance enhancement through aligning individual roles with organizational objectives, implementing change management strategies, monitoring performance through key indicators, and applying Islamic leadership principles. Lecturer Performance enhancement through aligning course objectives with institutional goals encouraging research alignment, promoting pedagogical innovations, and fostering visionary leadership.

Corporate Sustainability Performance in the Indonesian Fertilizer Industry: A Strategic Approach with PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero)

This study investigates the determinants of Corporate Sustainability Performance (CSP) in PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), a leading state-owned enterprise in Indonesia's fertilizer industry. The research focuses on the impact of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), Operational, Leadership, and Strategic Transformation factors on CSP. Utilizing a Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach, the study reveals that Operational Performance is the most significant driver of CSP, with Governance and Social factors also playing crucial roles. However, Environmental, Leadership, and Strategic Transformation variables show limited direct influence on CSP. These findings suggest that while operational efficiency and governance are critical for enhancing sustainability, the importance of social responsibility, visionary leadership, and long-term environmental strategies should not be underestimated. The study offers strategic insights for corporate leaders, emphasizing a balanced and comprehensive approach to achieving sustainable growth in energy-intensive industries.

Building Future Leaders: The Power of Brand Knowledge in Shaping the Younger Generation

In the dynamic landscape of leadership development, cultivating future leaders requires a strategic focus on instilling brand knowledge as a powerful tool. Recognizing the profound impact that brand awareness can have on shaping the younger generation, this approach goes beyond traditional leadership training. It emphasizes the importance of understanding and embodying the values, ethos, and narrative of a brand, empowering emerging leaders to navigate complexities with authenticity and purpose. This integration of brand knowledge not only equips them with a strong foundation for decision-making but also fosters a sense of identity and commitment, ultimately contributing to the development of visionary and impactful leaders poised to shape the future. The conceptual model was developed based on four main variables, namely Brand Knowledge Acquisition, Leadership Development Programs, Digital Literacy and Social Media Engagement to Leadership Effectiveness with Brand Integration and Education Level. For analyzing purposes, data was collected from a representative sample of 200 both male and female individual who were aged between 16 to 28 from Colombo metropolitan. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. SPSS version 25 statistical package was used for data analysis. The findings of the study conclude that Brand Knowledge Acquisition, Leadership Development Programs, Digital Literacy and Social Media Engagement have significant impact on Leadership Effectiveness with Brand Integration. And also, Education Level moderate the relation between the power of brand knowledge and Leadership Effectiveness with Brand Integration.

The Influence of Visionary Leadership, Motivation, and Work Culture on Work Commitment and Performance of Education Staff at Doctor Husni Ingratubun University (UNINGRAT) In Tual City

The purpose of this study is to test, analyze and find out the influence of work culture, visionary leadership and work motivation on performance through work commitment at UNINGRAT Tual. In this study, visoner leadership, work motivation, organizational culture, work commitment, performance will be analyzed. Based on the type of research, this research is a study that explains the causal relationship between variables or so-called explanatory research, which is research to find out and explain the influence between existing variables and continues with hypothesis testing. In addition, this study is included in descriptive research, because it provides a descriptive explanation of the variables to be studied. The sample in this study is all Education Personnel at UNINGRAT Tual City which totals 150 people. The results of the study found that visionary leadership and work motivation positively and significantly increased the work commitment of education staff at Doktor Husni University UNINGRAT Tual, but did not have a direct impact on their performance. An inclusive and collaborative work culture has been shown to improve performance, but it does not affect work commitment. In addition, work commitment has proven to be an important mediator between visionary leadership and work motivation to performance, showing that highly motivated and highly committed education personnel tend to have better performance. On the other hand, visionary leadership and work motivation do not significantly improve performance directly, mainly due to the limitations of flexibility and resources at UNINGRAT. These findings highlight the need for a holistic management strategy to improve the performance and commitment of education personnel in this unique higher education environment.

DARI PENGUNGSIAN KE KEJAYAAN: DISKURSUS DINASTI UMAYYAH II DAN DAMPAK TRANSFORMASINYA DI ANDALUSIA PADA ABAD PERTENGAHAN

This article examines the journey of the Umayyad Dynasty II from exile in the Middle East to achieving glory in Andalusia, as well as the transformational impact they had on the region. The Umayyad II dynasty, led by Abd al-Rahman I, succeeded in turning Andalusia into an advanced center of political, economic and cultural power in medieval Europe. Through theoretical and historical analysis, this article explores the factors that supported the progress of Andalusia under the leadership of Umayyah II, using historical methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The results of this study can be seen, including visionary leadership, religious tolerance, cross-cultural cooperation, infrastructure development, scientific development, and investment in arts and education. The Umayyad II Dynasty's contribution to Andalusia included political, social and cultural transformation. They succeeded in creating an inclusive environment where Muslims, Christians and Jews could live side by side peacefully, and enriched the intellectual and cultural life of the region. This discourse also provides theoretical insight into political adaptation, social inclusiveness, and cultural investment in creating significant changes in the history of discourse of the Umayyad Dynasty II in Andalusia.

The influence of follower reactions on political leaders’ environmental policy communication: toward a social-mediated dynamic influence framework

ABSTRACT This study proposes that social-mediated leadership communication is a dynamic influence process, involving visible leader communications, follower emotional responses, and subsequent leader actions. These interactions form a feedback loop, where follower reactions influence leaders' strategic communication. We tested this framework by analyzing U.S. political leaders' engagement with the Green New Deal during the 2020 Presidential campaign. Using Facebook posts from congressional politicians and data on follower reactions, we applied longitudinal network models, natural language processing, and multilevel event history models to examine factors behind leaders' decisions to co-share content and discuss specific policy topics. Our findings support the dynamic influence framework, showing that follower reactions, especially those indicating support and boosting message virality, are most likely to prompt shifts in leaders’ communication strategies.

Strategic leadership and organisational change in distance and e-learning contexts

The rapid expansion of e-learning, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has reshaped the educational landscape, necessitating strategic leadership and organisational change. This study examines the pivotal role of strategic leadership in navigating the complexities of digital learning environments and driving successful e-learning initiatives. A comprehensive literature review and data analysis were conducted, utilising sources from the US, West African countries, China and other Asian and European nations. The findings highlight the importance of digital competence, visionary leadership and effective change management strategies in implementing e-learning. Challenges such as technology access disparities, digital fluency and integrating interactive learning tools were identified. The emergence of e-leadership, emphasising adaptability and fostering positive digital learning environments, was also noted. Strategic leadership and organisational change are critical in successfully adopting and managing distance and e-learning. Therefore, policy makers should prioritise addressing technology access gaps, enhancing digital literacy and supporting educators and students. Visionary leadership must be cultivated to steer educational institutions through the evolving demands of the 21st century. The study needs longitudinal data on the long-term impact of e-learning on student outcomes to deal with its limitations and thoroughly examine the financial implications of transitioning to e-learning for educational institutions.

Developing the blue and circular economy through visionary eco-leadership in the fish waste processing agro-industry

Abstract Significant environmental pollution is caused by fish scale waste, but its utilization is still limited, so it has the potential to cause food waste which is detrimental to the environment. Eco-leadership is essential in changing people’s behavior by teaching them to see waste scales as a source of value-added materials, creating a sustainable economy, and improving the quality of the surrounding environment. This study explores the relationship between visionary eco-leadership from employee perceptions and its influence on developing a blue and circular economy in the fish waste processing agro-industry. This study used a purposive location determination method with a population of employees of an agro-industrial fish waste processing company in Boyolali Regency and a sample of 60. Data analysis used structural equations and the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. This study concludes that visionary leaders who care about the environment in the fish waste processing agro-industry positively and significantly influence the development of a blue and circular economy.

Components and Indicators of Educational Leadership

Background and Aims: Educational leadership is critical for shaping the direction and effectiveness of schools, ensuring that educational practices are consistent with goals and standards. It improves teaching and learning, promotes a positive school culture, and helps students succeed by guiding and motivating all stakeholders. This paper aims to explore the Components and Indicators of Educational Leadership. Methodology: The methodology entails a systematic review of existing literature to identify and categorize key components and indicators of effective educational leadership. This method provides a thorough understanding of how these factors interact to influence leadership effectiveness and educational outcomes. Result: the finding found that (1) The components of educational leadership—vision and mission development, instructional leadership, organizational management, professional development, community engagement, assessment and evaluation, and ethical leadership—all contribute to effective school management and student success. Each component is critical in providing guidance, improving teaching practices, managing resources, fostering growth, gaining community support, driving improvements, and maintaining ethical standards. Together, they foster a supportive and dynamic learning environment. (2) The indicators of effective educational leadership—goal achievement, teacher and staff satisfaction, student engagement and success, community involvement, effective communication, innovation and improvement, resource management, and professional growth—form a comprehensive framework for evaluating leadership impact. These indicators show how well leaders meet educational goals, create a positive and productive environment, and drive continuous improvement. By evaluating these areas, educational leaders can assess their effectiveness, make informed decisions, and ensure that their strategies are consistent with the overarching mission of improving educational outcomes and fostering a thriving school community. Conclusion: The findings show that educational leadership components and indicators are critical for promoting effective school management and student success. While the components guide the creation of a supportive and dynamic learning environment, the indicators serve as a framework for assessing leadership effectiveness and driving continuous improvement.
