A model for analysis of elastic distortion of a spring-supported square/sector-shaped large-thrust bearing is proposed. The analysis aims to simulate the realistic boundary conditions for such a support and avoids the use of spurious points beyond the boundary arising from the implementation of the boundary conditions, thereby increasing the accuracy of the results obtained with less computation time. Elastic distortions for different tilt parameters at various loads are calculated using the matrix method. The film thickness variations in the circumferential as well as circumferential and radial directions are considered in this study. The proposed method yields satisfactory results.
