Studi Sosiolinguistik pada Nadhoman Terjemah Kitab Syu’abul Iman Karya KH. A Wahab Muhsin

Sociolinguistic studies are part of modern linguistic studies which cover all linguistic phenomena and their communities. This study can explain word preferences or language structures that differentiate one literary work from another based on the relationship between individuals, populations, periodization and people's lifestyle patterns. The source of sociolingistics research is all types of communication that use language, both spoken and written in all varieties of languages ​​in the world. This research aims to describe sociolinguistic relationships and traces of their application in Nadhoman's "Translation of Syu'abul Iman". The data used in this research are all aspects of perspective studies which include figurative sentences in the form of symbols, images, figurative language or figures of speech, as well as diction or choice of words as well as expressions in the form of loanwords, theme idioms, diction, language style, imagination and messages that describe the influence sociological and linguistic aspects of the translation of the book Syu'abul Iman by KH.A Wahab Muhsin in the form of a translation of the book Syu'abul Iman which was compiled in 1967. Researchers indicate that there are linguistic values ​​related to the situation and social relations in it. To prove this, the author analyzes it using descriptive qualitative methods. The data collection technique in this research is a reading-note technique. The technique is carried out by reading, taking notes for analysis based on the perspective study. The research results obtained prove that sociolinguistics is very influential on the building blocks of the translation of the book Syu'abul Iman.Keywords: Sociolinguistics, Sundanese Nazhoman, Translation.

Style of Technical Language: Oil and Gas Discourse

The present paper discusses the style and characteristics of technical language generally and oil and gas discourse particularly and shows the differences between technical and scientific language. The paper starts with providing an overview on technical language and the historical emergence. Then, it shows the difference between technical and scientific language because scads of people think they are the same, which is not the case. The paper proceeds to discuss the style and characteristics of technical language giving examples [along with the Arabic proposed translation] about each characteristic for further clarification, and it moves to discuss oil and gas language showing how this discipline is versatile and interdisciplinary. Finally, the paper recapitulates the characteristics of oil and gas discourse and provides examples [along with the Arabic proposed translations] about each. This paper might be of great benefit for specialist and non-specialist individuals who use technical language, including academics, engineers, technicians, linguists, translators and many more, as it helps to improve understanding of technical texts [which is beneficial for translators] and advance the writing skills of specialist individuals.

Language Styles, Recovery Strategies and Users’ Willingness to Forgive in General Artificial Intelligence Service Recovery: A Mixed Study

As the prevalence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in the service sector continues to grow, the impact of the language style and recovery strategies utilized during service failures remains insufficiently explored. This study, grounded in the theory of social presence and dual-process theory, employed a mixed-method approach combining questionnaire surveys and event-related potential (ERP) experiments to investigate the effect of different language styles (rational vs. humorous) and recovery strategies (gratitude vs. apology) on users’ willingness to forgive during the GenAI service recovery process. It further delves into the chained mediating role of perceived sincerity and social presence in this process. The findings revealed that a humorous language style was more effective in enhancing users’ willingness to forgive compared to a rational style, primarily through the enhancement of users’ perceived sincerity and sense of social presence; recovery strategies played a moderating role in this process, with the positive impact of perceived sincerity on social presence being significantly amplified when the GenAI service adopted an apology strategy. ERP results indicated that a rational language style significantly induced a larger N2 component (cognitive conflict) in apology scenarios, while a humorous style exhibited higher amplitude in the LPP component (positive emotional evaluation). This research unveils the intricate relationships between language style, recovery strategies, and users’ willingness to forgive in the GenAI service recovery process, providing important theoretical foundations and practical guidance for designing more effective GenAI service recovery strategies, and offering new insights into developing more efficacious GenAI service recovery tactics.

N. M. Karamzin’s notes to D. I. Fonvisin’s letter — a reply in the debate about language

The discussion about language plays a crucial role in Russian literature of the early 19th century. It begins with Nikolay Karamzin’s essay Why Are There Few Talented Authors in Russia? (1802) and Alexander Shishkov’s book Discourse on the Old and New Style in Russian Language (1803), which criticizes Karamzin. The traditional view is that Karamzin refrains from answering Shishkov. The present paper presents an alternative hypothesis, arguing that Karamzin does react, but indirectly. Karamzin’s reply takes the form of comments on Denis Fonvizin’s letter addressed to Osip Kozodavlev, where Fonvizin discusses his work on the Dictionary of the Russian Academy. In October 1803 Karamzin publishes this letter in Vestnik Evropy, the magazine he edits since 1802. In this letter Fonvizin discusses borrowings from foreign languages in Russian; Karamzin follows suit. The question of borrowings is central in Shishkov’s book. Karamzin takes a moderate course, recommending that a borrowing should be discarded if the same meaning is expressed by an existing Russian word. However, his general opinion is that borrowings are useful, as they help express notions that Russian still lacks. This attitude is contrary to Shishkov’s intent to rid Russian of any borrowings. This disagreement reflects the difference between two views on language as such. Karamzin sees language as means of expressing notions, which can be international; thus notions may be borrowed as well as words, and along with them if needed. For Shishkov, words come before notions; each word is viewed as a complex of meanings together with its formal and semantic links to other lexical units. These features are specific for any culture, so, in Shishkov’s view, changing this structure by adding borrowings means destroying the language rather than enriching it.

And in the Qur'an there are many stories that are full of lesson and become life better, one of which is the story of the <em>Ashabul-Kahf</em> which is famous for its miraculous and full of grace, which is permissible for everyone to learn the lesson from this story with the secret meaning that come from Allah. style. The purpose of this study is to analyze hidden secrets that lie in the beauty of the choice of language, sentences, and arrangement of verses from the perspective of Al-Ijaz Al-Bayani in the story of Ashabul-Kahf according to Ibn Ashur. The method used by the researcher is a semantic analysis method which is part of linguistics which talks about the meaning of an expression or word in a language. Al-Bayani's dimension to the story of Ashabul-Kahfi lies in the beauty of the use of language. With the existence of sentences which are <em>taraduf </em>such as the sentences <em>Rhasyada </em>and <em>Rasdhu,</em> Kinayah is like the sentence <em>dzarabna fii adzaniihim</em> which means <em>An-naum</em> (sleep), and other examples.</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Analysis of Perceptual Differences Between Employees and Management in Organizational Communication Practices at The Level of Culture in The Bucketlist Indonesia

This study analyzes the perceptual differences between employees and management in organizational communication practices at The Bucketlist Indonesia, a family business operating in the tourism sector. Using a mini-ethnography approach and an interpretive paradigm, this study explores verbal and non-verbal communication applied within the context of organizational culture, utilizing Schein's (2004) level of culture theory. The findings reveal perceptual alignment in several aspects such as the logo and office layout, but also identify significant differences related to uniforms, appearance, and language style. These perceptual differences reflect variations in understanding and internalization of organizational values, which can impact service consistency and customer perceptions. This study highlights the importance of effective internal communication in creating a unified vision and improving service quality. The findings are expected to provide insights for The Bucketlist Indonesia and similar businesses in managing organizational communication to support growth and business success.

According to statistics collected by domestic and foreign authors, the number of patients in need of orthopedic treatment is increasing every year. [7,8] Modern dental prosthetics includes not only an integrated approach to rehabilitation and restoration of lost functions, but also a high level of aesthetics of the prostheses themselves, which has a significant impact on the comfort and quality of life of dental patients [7,8,15]. The patient's subjective satisfaction with the result of treatment is one of the main tasks of an orthopedic dentist, no less important than rational prosthetics itself. Thus, in order to achieve success, it is necessary to carefully analyze the initial clinical situation, draw up a comprehensive treatment plan, perform dental prosthetics and evaluate the results obtained. The purpose of the work: to propose a fast and effective method for the comprehensive assessment of an artificial tooth crown, which would have practical application by dentists, would not require significant efforts to interpret the results, and also took into account the general subjective assessment of the patient's quality of life. We have created a web page on the Internet where the proposed two-stage questionnaire is posted. The following technologies and libraries were used to implement the project: HTML5: The main markup language for creating the structure of a web page, including a table with evaluation parameters. CSS: A style language used for the visual design of a table and other elements of a web page to provide a user-friendly and intuitive interface for users. JavaScript: A scripting programming language used to implement the logic of calculating the W coefficient and dynamically displaying the results on the page. The first part is an assessment of artificial crowns according to the method of patent No. 2619386 From the Russian Federation, IPC A61B 10/00 [3], supplemented by an assessment of galvanosis phenomena. The second part is presented by the standardized questionnaire OHIP-14RU [1]. The proposed technique allows for a quick, effective, comprehensive and unified assessment of artificial crowns and their impact on the comfort of the patient's quality of life. Conclusions. This work is aimed at improving the results of comprehensive orthopedic treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The technique allows for a comprehensive assessment, is fast and effective, and is suitable for direct use at a clinical appointment and in research activities in the field of medicine.

Masalah dalam Terjemahan Majāz Mursal al-Quran: Analisis Terhadap Hubungan Ĩtibār mā sayakūn

Majāz mursal is one of al-Majāz's styles in Arabic rhetoric sciences. It contains an implicit or implied meaning that is not explicitly stated. The literal approach will lead to the loss of the implicit meaning in majāz mursal. Therefore, this study aims to compare the approach used by several translation texts in the translation of synecdoche in Quranic discourse specific to the relationship of the event that will occur (ĩtibār mā sayakūn) to see the equivalence of the actual meaning found in the Quran with the target text. This study is qualitative library research for adopting content analysis methods and purposive sampling techniques. This study's primary data source was collected from al-Burhān fĩ 'Ulum al-Quran. Four translation texts of the Quran by Hidayah House of Quran, Karya Bestari, Abdullah Basmeih, and Yayasan Restu are used as a corpus to examine the approaches of translation used by the four texts. Data analysis of the selected translation is based on the theory of explicitation introduced by Vinay & Darbelnet (1995) and the explicitation technique presented by Murtisari (2016). To measure the accuracy and compatibility of resource language messages with the target language, interpretation of the book of tafsĩr are referred to, such as al-Kashshāf by Al-Zamakhsyarĩ, al-Jalālain by Al-Suyūti, An'war At-Tanzĩl wa Asrāru At-Ta'wĩl by Baydhāwi, Al-Tashĩl lĩ 'Ulum al-Tanzĩl by Ibn Juzayy, al-Tahrĩr Wa Tanwĩr by Ibn' Asyur, Jami'ul Bayān by Al-Tabarĩ, Fĩ Zilāl al-Quran by Syed Qutb and Tafsĩr al-Munĩr by Wahbah Zuhailĩ. This study shows that two (2) of the five (5) (data) have shown the use of applying the explicitation strategy. It can reveal the implicit meaning that exists in the language style of majāz mursal from the relationship related to things that will happen (ĩtibar mā sayakūn) compared to the literal translation method.

Literature serves as a medium that can be used to educate and entertain its audience. In comprehending a literary work, readers can employ various approaches, one of which is the structural approach. This approach can be utilized to analyze a short story. This study aims to analyze a short story titled "Hujan untuk Ayu" by Heri Isnaini through a structural approach. The research was conducted by collecting data through qualitative methods and analyzing the elements that constitute the short story. The data used is the short story "Hujan untuk Ayu" by Heri Isnaini, which was published in the daily newspaper Pos Jawa Radar Banyuwangi on July 20, 2024. By conducting a study using a structural approach, readers can more easily understand the overall meaning contained in the short story. The research results will describe the elements that make up the short story, such as (1) theme, (2) plot, (3) characters and characterization, (4) setting, (5) message, (6) point of view, and (7) style of language found in the short story "Hujan untuk Ayu" by Heri Isnaini. It is hoped that this research can provide an understanding of analyzing a short story using a structural approach.

Themes and Language Style in Advertising Slogans of Vietnamese Banks and American Banks

Advertising slogans are important in branding companies and attracting customers. Businesses emphasize global thinking but tailor actions to local preferences, initiating advertisers to consider local culture when crafting advertising slogans. However, studies on advertising slogans are not abundant. This study used a qualitative approach to analyze and compare 50 Vietnamese and 69 American banks' advertising slogans in three aspects: themes, vocabulary, and syntax. Unlike previous multimodal studies on advertisements, this research highlighted the impact of culture on advertising, namely the influence of collectivism/individualism and high/low-context culture on advertising themes, vocabulary, and syntaxes. The study identified one similarity and three differences in the themes and pinpointed distinct words and syntax in these two groups of advertising slogans. Hopefully, the research will provide a deeper understanding of cultural influence on advertising so that advertising professionals can avoid potential cultural crashes in multi–national working environments.

Abstract B049: Building rapport in navigator-delivered health insurance literacy interventions: Engagement and tone used by parents of children with cancer and patient navigators

Abstract Purpose: To explore the linguistic elements of engagement and tone used by parents of children with cancer and a patient navigator (PN) during a pilot study of a health insurance literacy (HIL) intervention. Methods: A trained PN delivered a four-session Zoom-based HIL intervention for parents of children with cancer that contained content on: Session 1 (S1) health insurance terms, (S2) using health insurance, (S3) insurance appeals/legislation, and (S4) budgeting and financial strategies. We applied Linguistic Inquiry Word Count (LIWC-22) software to analyze transcriptions of each session regarding engagement and tone. We report, in aggregate, differences in language: analytical language (e.g., formal, logical), clout language (e.g., confidence, leadership), authenticity language (e.g., degree of self-monitoring), and emotional tone (e.g., positive and negative emotion words) (all range 1-99) between S1 and S4 using paired t-tests. We also analyzed language similarities between the PN and the parent using Language Style Matching, which represents the degree to which both speakers are engaged in the conversation. Results: Of 10 participants, 9 completed 4 sessions, and 1 parent completed 3 (39 sessions total); sessions were on average 35.1 (SD=6.4) minutes. Most participants were women (80%), married (90%), white (100%), and non-Hispanic (90%); half had a college degree. The PN spoke more than parents across all four sessions (90% PN vs 8.8% parent); however, parent engagement, as represented by word count, increased as the sessions went on (mean S1: 414 words, S4: 603.8 words, p=0.21). S1 contained the most language exchange between parents and the PN (median word count: 5,533.5). The discussions became increasingly authentic (mean by session: S1:24.2; S4:28.6; p=0.02), held more clout (S1:77.8, S4: 85.8; p=0.009), and increased in emotional tone (S1:49; S4:65, p=0.002). Analytical language decreased over time (S1:24.4; S4:19.8, p=0.05). Language style matching was consistently high and trending upward across sessions (S1:0.80; S4: 0.81, p=0.3). Conclusions: In a pilot test of a HIL intervention, we saw an increase in authentic language, emotional tone, and parent word count coupled with a decrease in analytical language, indicating increased rapport between the PN and parent over the sessions. This suggests there is emotional and supportive value in PN-led interventions as compared to self-directed interventions. PNs can build trust and promote equity by deconstructing and personalizing health insurance information. Future work should explore how rapport built between parents and PNs relates to health insurance literacy and financial toxicity outcomes. Citation Format: Mary K. Killela, Anne C. “Why do you find similar reviews helpful?”: Psychological mechanisms of the effect of linguistic style matching on review helpfulness

Although previous studies have examined the relationship between Language Style Matching (LSM) and review helpfulness, little research has been devoted to exploring the underlying psychological mechanism of the effect. The current research was conducted to investigate the effect of LSM on review helpfulness, and to introduce perceived credibility as the psychological mechanism that explains the effect. The findings from three experimental studies have shown that perceived credibility explains the positive effect of LSM on review helpfulness. Moreover, consumers find that reviews with high LSM are more helpful and credible when experts rather than peers provide the reviews. This research contributes to the literature on LSM and the helpfulness of reviews by showing how congruency in the language of the review provided by experts increases the reviews' appeal and offers practical suggestions for managers and marketers to better manage their product and service reviews.

CRITICALLY READING FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE IN NEWS TITLE OF IDN TIMES.COM: WORLD CUP CHANNEL

Figurative language is a style of language that is used to beautify a sentence. Not only in poetry and songs, figurative language is also often used in news titles. The research aims to critically read the figurative language found in IDN Times.com news titles, especially the types and functions of the figurative language contained in the news titles of IDN Times.com. The research critically read types of figurative language and critically read functions of figurative languages found in news titles of IDN Times.com World Cup Channel in December 2022 Edition. To collect the data, researchers used the descriptive qualitative method by doing several ways such as: reading news titles, classifying news titles based on the figurative language type, and writing down the news titles. The finding shows that there are four types of figurative language in IDN Times.com, including twenty-five Metaphors, three personifications, one simile, and ten hyperboles. The functions of using figurative language in the news title are to compare something with something that has a similar meaning, making the inanimate like a human, and to dramatize a sentence. Generally, figurative language makes every sentence appear more lovely and meaningful.

A Stylistic Study of Diraar’s Description of Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib (AS)

Stylistics is the study of the distinctive styles found in particular literary genres and in the works of individual writers. Stylistic analysis is the analysis of various language styles to extract the meaning or message contained in the text. This study focuses on the stylistic analysis of the description of Diraar to Imam Ali (AS). The aim is to examine the linguistic features and techniques employed in the description, shedding light on the stylistic choices made by the author. By analyzing the syntactic structures, lexical choices, and rhetorical devices used, this study aims to uncover the stylistic elements that contribute to the overall effect and impact of the description. The findings of this study show that Diraar’s descriptions of Imam Ali (AS) transcend a mere portrayal; it is a masterful composition that weaves together language, imagery, tone, and paradox to convey the Multifaced nature of this revered figure..

Penggunaan Model Pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together dengan Permainan Kalimat Berantai dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis Teks Fiksi

This study discusses the low interest of students in learning to write fiction texts in influencing the final score to be the background of the research. The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of using the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) learning model with chain sentence games in fictional text writing skills in grade V students of SDN Bangbayang 2. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design for the control group and the experimental group with a total of 15 students in each group. The results showed that the average score of the assessment aspects which included themes, characters, plot, background and language style experienced a significant increase from the experimental group with posttest results (80.00, 89.00, 80.00, 81.33, 88.33) greater than the average score of the pretest (64.33, 71.67, 62.33, 69.67, 74.00). In the control group, the average score obtained during the posttest (77.00, 72.67, 68.67, 74.00 73.67) was also greater than the average score of the pretest (74.00, 70.00, 60.00, 70.33, 69.33), but not as large as the increase obtained by the experimental group. In five aspects of assessment, the analysis of the t-test showed significant t-values (12.67, 14.66, 9.00, 7.99 and 9.99). The conclusion of this study is that the Numbered Heads Together learning model with chain sentence games is effective in improving fiction text writing skills in grade V elementary school students.

The news and structural style in the poem of Ibn Zurayq Al-Baghdadi (La Taathleh)

This research deals with the two styles of news and composition in Ibn Zuraiq Al-Baghdadi’s poem (Do not torture him); These two styles are the pillars of Arabic speech and the basis of its discourse, and each of them has linguistic, grammatical, stylistic, and rhetorical characteristics that distinguish it from the other. In this research, we will discuss the definition of the two styles in language and terminology, and provide a brief overview of the poet mentioned in our research. Then we will move on to mention the declarative places, as well as the constructional ones, and how Ibn Zuraiq al-Baghdadi used them in each place, and the reasons for his use of each style. And exploring the aesthetics of all of the above to conclude a set of results in which we mention the aesthetics of each style in poetic discourse, and the extent of this poet’s ability to employ methods to attract the recipient’s attention towards what he presented. The aim of the study is to highlight the stylistic and rhetorical features of the two styles as well, and to work on analyzing the aforementioned verses, including predicates or constructions. It should be noted that there are verses that contain both styles, so we will analyze the style in which we see the appropriate or strongest significance, even though we have analyzed the two styles in a way that we hope to It will be enough. After that comes the list of sources and references that we have adopted in this research. They are diverse sources and references, including traditional, rhetorical, grammatical, and contextual sources, as well as the books of hadith scholars due to their importance in rhetorical and contextual studies.

Analisis Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia dalam Makalah Pendidikan Jasmani Kesehatan dan Rekreasi

This research aims to analyze the use of Indonesian in the Physical Education, Health and Recreation study program. Investigate how to use Indonesian language and language styles effectively and support data collection in writing papers in the Physical Education, Health and Recreation study program. This research uses a qualitative approach to investigate a series of academic papers and analyze the conformity of Indonesian language use with academic conventions and scientific language characteristics. The research results show that there are differences in language style and use of terminology, the majority of papers are able to meet relevant academic standards, although there are still obstacles in translating technical terms and using terminology consistently. This research can help academic writers to further refine the use of Indonesian in writing work in the Health and Recreation Services Education study program.

How to Talk to AI: The Role of Preset Prompt Language Styles in Shaping Conversational Experience

With the proliferation of AI conversational agents, the design of preset prompts—text suggestions that guide user interactions—has become crucial for enhancing user experience. This study investigates the impact of different preset prompt language styles (social-oriented vs. task-oriented) on user satisfaction. Utilizing two empirical studies, we examined how these language styles influence user perceptions of an AI agent’s warmth and competence, and how these perceptions mediate overall satisfaction. In the first study, participants interacted with an AI agent using either social-oriented or task-oriented prompts under conditions of service success or failure. The results indicated that social-oriented prompts significantly enhance user satisfaction by increasing perceptions of warmth, but not competence. However, this positive effect diminishes in the event of service failure. In the second study, we explored the moderating effect of task urgency. Findings revealed that the positive impact of social-oriented prompts on satisfaction is significant in low-urgency tasks but not in high-urgency scenarios. These insights underscore the importance of prompt language style in AI interactions and provide practical implications for designing more effective AI communication strategies, especially in customer service contexts.
