The well known difficulty of arranging laboratory practical classes in Technical Universities is due to the large number of students, lack of space and shortage of trainers. Starting from these considerations, the authors have developed a laboratory guide written as a “hypertext” that can be used by the students to obtain information from a personal computer (PC) to help with the practical techniques of an electrical measurements laboratory. The developed guide deals with both measuring instruments and methods. The guide is also equipped with a software simulator that allows the students to simulate the use of real measuring instruments. Using the electrical measurement laboratory hypertext-based on-line guide, the students can do practicals without the help of skilled personnel and freely enter the laboratories. With the simulator, students can also do practicals at home. All that is required is the use of a PC to allow them to try and use the instruments they will face in the real laboratory practical. Moreover the hypertext-based on-line guide and the simulator allow the students to practice without the help of skilled personal and free entrance to the laboratory rooms can also be considered. This paper reports a description of the structure of the realized electrical measurement laboratory hypertext-based on-line guide and simulator.
