The Relationship Between Knowledge Level and Attitudes of Mothers of Toddlers Towards Visits to Posyandu In Janti Village, Tarik District, Sidoarjo

One of the objectives of the Posyandu program is to reduce nutritional problems. The rate of malnutrition in Sidoarjo Regency is 3.8%, at the Tarik Health Center it is 0.13%, and in Janti Village, it reaches 5.13%. Malnutrition negatively impacts toddler growth. In 2023, the visit rate of toddlers to Posyandu in Janti Village was low, at only 32.1% of the total number of toddlers in the village, resulting in suboptimal monitoring of their growth. One factor influencing mothers' visits to Posyandu is their knowledge and attitude.This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design, aiming to analyze the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of mothers of toddlers towards visits to Posyandu in Janti Village, Tarik District, Sidoarjo. The population consisted of 224 mothers of toddlers, with a sample of 70 respondents selected randomly through random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers towards Posyandu, as well as attendance records at Posyandu, and analyzed using Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact tests.Most respondents were aged 25-34 years (72.9%), had completed high school education (50.5%), and were housewives (62.6%). They generally possessed good knowledge about Posyandu (68.6%) or adequate knowledge (31.4%). Regarding visitation, 64.3% were active and 35.7% were inactive. This suggests that positive knowledge and attitudes towards Posyandu significantly influence visitation rates, supported by statistically significant results with a p-value of 0.001 (≤ 0.05).There exists a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of mothers towards visits to Posyandu.

A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Educational Programme on Knowledge and Attitude of Mothers Regarding Child abuse in Selected Areas at Melmaruvathur, Chengalpattu District

Child abuse is the physical, sexual, emotional maltreatment or neglect of a children. It occurs in all areas where the child interacts with in and around them. Children who experience child abuse more likely to become involved in criminal activity. In India knowledge of child abuse is poor and very low cases are reported. Aim: To assess the knowledge and attitude of mothers in and around Melmaruathur, Kancheepuram District. Materials & Methods: Mothers were directed to fill out a Questionnaire to assess the knowledge and likert scale used to assess their attitude of child abuse. After that educational programme was conducted on prevention of child abuse. Responses were recorded & analyzed. The findings of the present study revealed that in overall knowledge of mothers regarding child abuse 87% have inadequate, 13% have moderate adequate and none of them have adequate knowledge. When compare to the various types of child abuse, knowledge about sexual abuse was 53% and others less than 35%. In attitude of mothers 15% have good and 85% have fair and no one have got poor attitude. Ater the education 80 % mothers had adequate knowledge, 20% had moderately adequate knowledge. 85% had good attitude, 10% had fair attitude on child abuse and 5% had poor attitude. Conclusion: Mothers of selected area there have deficient knowledge on general information of child abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and have moderate knowledge on sexual abuse, impact of child abuse on life of children. Statistically there is no significant relationship between knowledge and attitude.

The association of oral health knowledge with factors influencing the dental visit behaviour of pregnant women based on the theory of planned behavior

ABSTRACTIntroduction: A lack of knowledge of oral health maintenance among pregnant women affects the behavior of maintaining poor oral health. It is important for pregnant women to visit the dentist due to their increased susceptibility to oral diseases, which can adversely impact pregnancy outcomes, including premature birth and low birth weight. According to the theory of planned behavior, a mother's knowledge can influence her health-related behavior. To determine the level of oral health knowledge among pregnant women and to examine the relationship between this knowledge and the factors that influence their behavior regarding dental visits. Methods: This study uses a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach, focusing on pregnant women at the Cijerah Community Health Centerin Bandung City, Indonesia. A purposive sampling method resulted 67 participants. A new questionnaire assessed oral health knowledge (20 items) and factors influencinh visiting behavior based on the theory of planned behavior (26 items). Data analysis used the Spearman correlation test. Results:Most pregnant women (76.2%) had insufficient oral health knowledge, but showed a positive attitude towards dental visits in the first trimester and every six months (11.91 ± 2.66 and 11.65 ± 2.87). They also reported good subjective norm (28.73 ± 5.42 and 28.31 ± 5.19), good behavioral control (8.23 ± 1.67 and 8.32 ± 1.61) and good intention (3.94 ± 0.96 and 3.83 ± 1.06). Conclusion: The level of oral health knowledge is low, and althoughfactors influencing the dental visit behavior are positive, there is no correlation between this knowledge and factors that influence the behavior of visiting the dentist.

Breastfeeding knowledge, attitudes and practices of HIV-positive women in Africa, a systematic review

Abstract Background Breastfeeding (BF) is essential to ensure the health and survival of children, especially in regions where diarrhoea, pneumonia and malnutrition are common causes of child mortality. The WHO currently recommends, along with antiretroviral treatment, exclusive BF (EBF) for the first six months and mixed BF for the next six months and extending it to 24 months. In sub-Saharan Africa, more than one million HIV-positive women face the challenge of infant feeding due to limited access to treatment and safe water. The aim of this study was to understand the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of HIV-positive mothers in Africa to provide evidence for public health strategies. Methods We conducted a systematic review of studies on Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of BF among HIV-exposed children in African countries, following the principles of the PRISMA statement and identified by searching major databases of records published between 2013 and 2023. Results Of the 498 articles identified, 21 met the inclusion criteria. 70% of the studies were conducted in Ethiopia, South Africa, and Kenya. 95% of the studies were conducted in health care facilities. Mothers showed good knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding EBF of HIV-exposed children, but low knowledge and fear of continuing to practice BF later on. The HIV-positive mothers mentions a range of recommendations received from health workers, identified as their main source of information. Stigma against mothers who practice EBF was found. The primary reason for early cessation of BF was due to work. Conclusions Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of the infant feeding currently recommended by WHO for HIV-positive mothers was weak. There is little evidence of what happens in other African countries and in women with limited access to the health system. Public health policies need to be strengthened to ensure that health workers are trained in the current guidelines to improve HIV-positive women’s BF. Key messages • HIV-positive mothers are afraid to continue breastfeeding their babies after 6 months. • More studies about the breastfeeding practices of children of HIV-positive mothers with limited access to health services are needed.

Vaccine awareness and hesitancy among Ukrainian refugee mothers in Bulgaria

Abstract Issue Migration carry out risk of disrupting the epidemiological well-being among refugees and host populations. Since the beginning of Ukraine crisis over 50 000 refugees remain in Bulgaria; 92% are women and children. There is suboptimal childhood immunization coverage among Ukrainian refugee community prior to arrival in Bulgaria. Description of the problem Childhood vaccination is mandatory in Bulgaria for TB, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, rubella, measles, mumps, Haemophilus influenzae B and pneumococci. Refugees with uncertain immunization status are vaccinated according to the national immunization schedule and receive personal immunization card. As of March 2024, we conducted cross-sectional study to assess knowledge and attitudes of Ukrainian mothers through an interview. Results Of 105 mothers interviewed, 72.38% were with higher education. Arrived women were not familiar with Bulgarian health system and especially with vaccination. Absence of language barrier and presence of doctors among them facilitated our study.56.19% believe that migration has disrupted their children’s vaccinations. 56.19% consider that migration has disrupted their children’s vaccination. Aware of benefits of vaccines were 91,43%, they mainly trust doctors-84.76%, they pay attention to the positive discussion in the media-55.77%.Mothers realize the importance of herd immunity, considering that vaccinated children protect the others-68.57%.Leading reasons for mistrust of vaccines, mothers indicate - doubt in favor of vaccine-24.76%, medical contraindications for child-21.90% and doubts about quality of the vaccine-19.05%.They pay attention to positive discussion in the media-55.77% and have confidence in Bulgaria’s institutions. Lessons The Government of Bulgaria provided significant support and medical care for the prevention of vaccinepreventable diseases among Ukrainian children. Institutions and volunteers work for successful integration of refugees. Key messages • Need to know the immunization status of Ukrainian children admitted to Bulgaria. • Increasing trust in vaccines and the health system in general in Bulgaria requires additional explanatory campaigns among refugees.

Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Regarding Use of ORS in Diarrhoea by Mothers in an Island of Bangladesh

Introduction: The second leading cause of death in under-five children is diarrhea. ORS is a simple and highly effective therapy for managing diarrhea. However inappropriate knowledge of preparation and lack of use of ORS leads to health hazards including increased rate of mortality and morbidity. So aim of this study to assess the knowledge, attitude, and Practice of mothers towards the use of oral rehydration solution in the treatment of acute diarrhea in children. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out over eight months (1st May to 30th December 2023) among 510 mothers who had children of six months to five years and had recent episodes of diarrhea. Data were collected by using a semi-structured questionnaire in face-to-face interview. Data were analyzed by using SPSS software program.Results: Among 510 mothers, 47.05% were 20-30 years old, 29.80% were below 20 years and 23.13% were over 30 years. One fourth of them had no institutional education and 36.27% had primary, 20.78% and 18.23% had secondary and tertiary level of education respectively. 40.39% were from lower socioeconomic condition, 31.97% were from middle and 27.64% from upper socioeconomic condition. 100% of family used sanitary latrine though 73.72% use safe drinking water as a preventive part of diarrhea.89.98% of mother was aware about ORS but only 75.88% used ORS in recent episode of diarrhea, among them 63.03% prepared ORS correctly and 60.98% used adequate amount. Age of mothers was not corresponds with the correct preparation and practice of ORS but socioeconomic condition and level of education carried statistically significant value. Conclusion: Knowledge and practice of ORS preparation and used of ORS in recent episode of diarrhea among the mother was unsatisfactory. Improve the Maternal education and socioeconomic status will improve ORS correct preparation and use. Mothers should be taught the importance of optimal use and correct preparation of ORS in diarrhea. EWMCJ Vol. 12, No. 1&2, January-July 2024: 43-49

This study aims to analyze the influence of demographics, transportation and socio-economics on ANC compliance. This research method is observational with a cross sectional research design. The total sample was 65 pregnant women with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling of 28 pregnant women who came to the community health center and accidental sampling of 37 pregnant women who came to the class for pregnant women and posyandu for toddlers. The instrument used was a questionnaire, data analysis used the chi square test and Fisher's Exact. The research results showed that pregnancy distance, distance from home, travel time, maternal education, maternal knowledge, husband's occupation, husband's income, marital status and husband/family support had an influence on ANC compliance. The factors that have the greatest influence are husband/family support and mother's knowledge.

Knowledge of newborns’ mothers on breastfeeding during covid-19, hiv and tuberculosis infection attendee in selected hospitals

Background: Two-thirds of the HIV mothers planned to breastfeed their infants while one-third opted for formula feeding; same as during Tuberculosis or COVID-19 infection. What would be the mother do during breastfeeding? Whether the mother could breastfeed their newborn or not. For that it is necessary to assess the level of knowledge of newborns mother on breastfeeding during COVID-19, HIV and Tuberculosis. Methods: It was a descriptive type of cross sectional study was conducted at Maternal and Child Health Training Institute, Azimpur, Dhaka from 1st January to 31st December 2021. Mother of newborns who are willing to participate were conveniently selected. Around 289 sample was selected. Pre tested semi structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Level of knowledge was measured by knowledge score. Each question of knowledge carries one (01) mark. Each correct answer had 1 mark and incorrect answer had 0 mark. 1-11 score (<60%) was categorized as fair knowledge; 12-15 score (60-79%) was categorized as good knowledge and 16-20% score (80% and above) had very good knowledge. Results: Age and knowledge of whether TB-positive mothers may breastfeed have an association (2=4.488, p = 0.034); age and knowledge of whether HIV-positive mothers can breastfeed have an association (2=9.632, p = 0.002). There is a correlation between occupation and knowledge of whether mothers who have COVID 19 positive status can breastfeed (5.044; p=0.046), as well as a correlation between occupation and knowledge of whether mothers who have TB positive status (9.365; p=0.002). Family income has a correlation with knowledge of whether mothers who are COVID 19 positive, HIV positive, or TB positive can breastfeed (2=17.695, p = 0.0001), COVID 19 positive mothers have a correlation with knowledge of whether they can breastfeed (2=7.511, p = 0.006), and HIV positive mothers have a correlation with knowledge of whether they can breastfeed (2=8.675, p = 0.003). Education level and awareness of whether COVID 19 positive mothers can breastfeed are correlated (2=10.315, p = 0.001), as are knowledge of whether TB positive mothers can breastfeed (2=10.880, p = 0.001). Conclusion: Develop targeted educational programs for mothers based on their demographic characteristics, such as age, occupation, and education level. JOPSOM 2023; 42(1):40-47

The expected results are an increase in the knowledge and skills of mothers in diversifying processed white bread products as well as the creation of independent household businesses based on pudding and jelly products that are highly competitive. In conclusion, this diversification of household products is expected to increase the added value and income of the Sukaragam Village community.

Background: Infants aged 2 months have begun to learn body movements in the form of gross motor skills. Starting with kicking movements, straightening the hands of sideways movements and then on the stomach until at the age of 1 year the baby can walk independently. Gross motor can develop faster and better when there is stimulus from the surrounding environment. Baby gym can provide a stimulus for gross motor development. Baby gym exercises done with the person closest to the baby will be better for the baby's emotional security. Objective: Providing counseling and practice in mother and baby classes at the kendalsari health center makes mothers who have babies under 1 year old and who will have a baby can apply it at home to train their children's gross motor skills. Methods: the method used in this counseling is to provide leaflets and then education and practice. Giving some questions on the pretest and postest to find out the picture of knowledge in mothers. Results: from this activity an increased understanding of baby gym procedures and their benefits was obtained.

The Relationship Between Mothers' Knowledge and Attitude in Breastfeeding and The Occurrence of Nipple Irritation in Pidie Regency

Research indicates that 40% of women do not breastfeed their infants due to experiencing breast pain and swelling, and fear of nipple soreness. This may be due to incorrect breastfeeding techniques, which are often overlooked by mothers who lack the proper breastfeeding management knowledge, thus requiring relevant training and education. Proper breastfeeding requires good attachment between the mother's areola and the baby's mouth so the baby can feed effectively and nipple irritation can be avoided. If not adhered to, nipple irritation may occur, causing mothers to be reluctant to breastfeed their infants, which may impact to the child's growth rate. Breast milk is an excellent source of nutrition for infants, as it contains essential nutrients needed for optimal growth and development (Prasetyono, 2012). Data from the Aceh District/City Breastfeeding Coverage in 2022 shows that the highest coverage was in Sabang City, with only 22.43% of the population (6,006 infants). This study used a cross-sectional design where 375 infants were breastfed, and the Slovin formula was applied. Samples were randomly selected from infants at health centers in Pidie District. Researchers used the Chi-square test for data analysis. The findings from this study, derived from bivariate statistical analysis using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level, resulted in a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the knowledge variable significantly affects breastfeeding technique. The Chi-square test at a 95% confidence level with p=0.000 (p < 0.05) also shows that attitude has an impact on the mother's ability to breastfeed. The mother's knowledge and attitude significantly influence their breastfeeding practice. The best way to prevent nipple irritation is by educating mothers on proper breastfeeding techniques. Researchers state that improving maternal knowledge and attitudes can enhance behavior, especially in breastfeeding practices, to prevent irritation. Monitoring by health workers is expected to improve maternal knowledge and attitudes and minimize the incidence of nipple irritation.

The Correlation of Maternal Behavior in Toddlers Breastfeeding with Wasting Prevention in Pidie

Besides children, teenagers also suffer from malnutrition due to certain factors. The development of wasting is considered related to mothers’ behavior during breastfeeding times. However, it has big impact towards the quality of breastfeeding. According to data from World Health Organization, 45.4 million children under the age of five were underweight in 2020, while the highest infant wasting rate nationally was 11.9% in several districts and cities from 33 provinces in Indonesia. Globally, 149.2 million children under the age five suffer from stunting, while its distribution of region in Indonesia is in Maluku and Aceh. Aceh is in fourth place of stunting with a percentage of 11.3% nationally. Based on the data related to wasting using the ratio of children’s weight to height, Pidie regency ranks third in Aceh as a whole with ratio of 15.3%. This study used a cross-sectional research with sample of 332 toddlers selected as the research object using Slovin formula. The sample data of this study was determined randomly and was taken from Pidie Regency Health Center which had a population of 1979 toddlers listed. SPSS 23 statistical software with Chisquare was used as a tool for data analysis. The findings of this study came from a bivariate statistical analysis test using the chisquare test at a confidence level of 95%, resulting in a p-value of 0.042 (p<; 0.05). This shows that the variable of maternal knowledge has an influence in keeping toddlers from experiencing wasting. The results of the chisquare test at the 95% confidence level in the bivariate statistical analysis test with p= 0.021 (p<; 0.05) showed that the maternal attitude variable had an influence on the ability of toddlers to avoid wasting. The results of the chisquare test for bivariate statistical analysis are at a confidence level of 95%: p = 0.024 (p<; 0.05). Characteristics of maternal behavior and prevention of wasting have a close correlation. Mothers' attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors towards wasting prevention are influenced by their breastfeeding practices. The best way to prevent wasting is to encourage mothers to breastfeed. The researchers stated that the increasing knowledge and attitudes of mothers in breastfeeding also improved their behavior, especially in terms of preventing wasting while breastfeeding. Supervision of health workers is expected to increase the knowledge and attitude of mothers and improve the prevention of wasting

Knowledge, Attitude And Practice Of Antenatal Care Among Pregnant Women Of Angu Wan Rogo Sokoto State, Nigeria

Background: Antenatal care is a medical and general care that is provided to pregnant women during pregnancy. In Nigeria as well as in the world maternal mortality is high.The aim of this study is to access the level of knowledge, attitude and practice toward antenatal care service among women of Unguwar Rogo Sokoto. Materials and Method: The study design was cross sectional descriptive design and study population among married women of reproductive age group of Unguwar Rogo area Sokoto. A total of 250 women were selected based on systematic random sampling technique after estimating number of women (650). Interviewed administered questionnaire was the instrument used and data collected was entered into SPSS version 20 and analysed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard division and chi-square Result: Majority 232 (92.8%) of women knew about antenatal care and the rest 18 (7.2%) did not know about antenatal care. About ( 94%) of the respondents wanted to follow antenatal care while (6.0% ) women do not want to follow antenatal care if they get pregnant due to negative attitude.Home delivery was found to be 42.5%. Also, about 94% of women practiced antennal care follow up during their pregnancy time. The chisquare of mother knowledge and mother practice X 2 = 160.4622 and p-value = 0.000 show that there is statistically significant association between mother knowledge and practice of ANC. Conclusion and Recommendation: Both knowledge and practice of antenatal care service were found to be good among the study respondent but hospital delivery is low. The study further recommend the need to educate both women and husband to know the important of hospital delivery.

Empowering healthcare education: A multilingual ontology for medical informatics and digital health (MIMO) integrated to artificial intelligence powered training in smart hospitals.

Objective: A comprehensive understanding of professional and technical terms is essential to achieving practical results in multidisciplinary projects dealing with health informatics and digital health. The medical informatics multilingual ontology (MIMO) initiative has been created through international cooperation. MIMO is continuously updated and comprises over 3700 concepts in 37 languages on the Health Terminology/Ontology Portal (HeTOP). Methods: We conducted case studies to assess the feasibility and impact of integrating MIMO into real-world healthcare projects. In HosmartAI, MIMO is used to index technological tools in a dedicated marketplace and improve partners' communication. Then, in SaNuRN, MIMO supports the development of a "Catalog and Index of Digital Health Teaching Resources" (CIDHR) backing digital health resources retrieval for health and allied health students. Results: In HosmartAI, MIMO facilitates the indexation of technological tools and smooths partners' interactions. In SaNuRN within CIDHR, MIMO ensures that students and practitioners access up-to-date, multilingual, and high-quality resources to enhance their learning endeavors. Conclusion: Integrating MIMO into training in smart hospital projects allows healthcare students and experts worldwide with different mother tongues and knowledge to tackle challenges facing the health informatics and digital health landscape to find innovative solutions improving initial and continuous education.

KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE OF URBAN AND RURAL MOTHER IN AL MUKALLA CITY ABOUT VACCINATION, 2023

Vaccination is a critical public health strategy for preventing infectious diseases in children, yet vaccine hesitancy remains a significant challenge, particularly among mothers who influence their children's health decisions. This study aims to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of mothers in urban and rural areas of Al-Mukalla, Yemen, regarding childhood vaccinations. A total of 581 women with at least one child under five participated, with data collected on their knowledge, sources of information, and attitudes towards vaccination. Results indicated that urban mothers had a higher level of awareness regarding the importance of vaccination compared to their rural counterparts, with 76% of rural mothers lacking knowledge about its significance. Urban mothers primarily relied on media (71%) and doctors (56%) as information sources, while rural mothers depended more on societal channels. Moreover, urban mothers demonstrated a more positive attitude towards vaccination, in contrast to the skepticism observed among rural mothers, influenced by cultural beliefs and misinformation. The findings highlight a critical need for targeted educational interventions to address knowledge gaps and enhance vaccine uptake, particularly in rural communities, ultimately aiming to improve child health outcomes in the region.

To assess the existing knowledge of postnatal care among primi parous mothers. 2. To identify the existing practice followed by the primi parous mothers. 3. To prepare and administer video assisted teaching regarding related aspect of postnatal care 4. To assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching through posttest regarding selected aspect of postnatal care. 5. Promotive and Preventive Programs for Health Workers and Mothers on Newborn Umbilical Cord Care to Prevent Infection During the Neonatal Period

Hence, this community serviceaimed to determine the proportion of knowledge in umbilical cord care for newbornbabies using the open-dry cord care method. Thew community service project washeld on August 24, 2023, in Pematang Siantar City, North Sumatra Province. In thisactivity, we provided counseling on the open-dry cord care method for umbilical cordcare by presentation and discussion using modules, posters, and leaflets. We used apre-test and post-test questionnaire to assess the knowledge level of health workersand mothers. Participant demographic data and results are presented in the form ofproportion data. This counseling was attended by 150 participants consisting of 52health workers and 98 mothers. Before the counseling, 39 health workers and 93mothers did not know how to take care of the umbilical cord properly. After thecounseling, the knowledge of umbilical cord care using the open-dry cord methodincreased by 15.4% for health workers and 24.5% for mothers. Based on the results,over 80% of participants were found to have had a satisfactory level of knowledgeabout umbilical cord care after the counseling session. This community serviceprogram should be conducted regularly to further enhance the knowledge of healthworkers and mothers on proper umbilical cord care.
