The article presents a conceptually brief overview of the intellectual landscape of Russian cultural knowledge in the late 1910s and early 1930s, which determined the general outline of the formation of culturology. The vastness, compression and multilayering of the intellectual landscape of this era of unprecedented intensive development of all areas of cultural knowledge set an extremely broad generalizing scale of research in considering the genesis of Russian culturology. Special attention is paid to its genealogy: the identification, identification and generalized characterization of philosophical, socio-humanitarian, natural science, engineering, artistic and other intellectual sources for the formation of culturology. The research and organizational and institutional prerequisites for the emergence of culturology that developed in these years are revealed. An attempt has been made to bring together all the diversity of various intellectual trends, alternative projects and institutions, which in one way or another influenced the formation of national cultural knowledge and the crystallization of the scientific research program of culturology in its depths.
