Robust algorithmic binding to arbitrary fragment of program code

When solving a task, a programmer actively interacts with a finite set of code fragments. The information about their locations is important for quick navigation, for other developers, and as a kind of documentation. Integrated development environments (IDEs) provide tools for marking code fragments with labels, displaying lists of labels, and using these labels for quick navigation. However, they often lose the correspondence between the label and the marked place when the code is edited, in particular when changes are made outside the IDE. In previous works, the authors propose a tool to be integrated into various IDEs for “binding” to large syntactic entities of a program and building a markup that is robust to code editing. The description of the marked element is built on the basis of the abstract syntax tree (AST) of the program. Later it is used to algorithmically search for the element in an edited code. The search has a success rate from 99 to 100%. This article aims at robust algorithmic binding to an arbitrary section of the code. For binding to a single-line code fragment, we propose an extension of the model describing the marked fragment, and an additional search algorithm. We also propose an algorithm for embedding nodes corresponding to multi-line fragments in an AST. We show that the correctness of the AST is not violated by these embeddings. Bindings to randomly selected lines were made in the code of three large C# projects. Manual check of these lines search results in the edited code has confirmed that the bindings are robust to code editing.

Half of the Ancient Trees in Hungary Stand in Human-Altered Environments

Big trees contribute to various ecosystem functions and spiritual values are given to them by local people, yet they are endangered. We compiled the health status, accessibility, and local habitat categories of the 2000 biggest (considering girth) trees in Hungary in 531 settlements. A total of 1550 specimens belong to 29 indigenous species, while 450 are non-indigenous (43 species). Most of them stand in a forest or park (not as a solitary tree), in the North Hungarian Range. Altogether, half of the ancient trees in Hungary stand in human-altered environments. Three-quarters are in a fair health condition. However, only 10.3% of the biggest white willows and 24.5% of the biggest sweet chestnuts are in good or excellent condition. A number of 121 big trees should no longer be listed in the nationwide online database because they died, or no longer reach the girth criteria (e.g., due to breakage). This number proves that any kind of documentation is important. More than half of the trees are easily accessible, while 9% are very difficult to reach. Only a very few big trees receive legal protection at the local or national level, on their own or in the habitat where they stand.

MRI Brain Documentation

In many clinical cases, a patient may come to the hospital with a neurological abnormality. This patient happen to have a normal brain MRI study that is recorded on the Picture Archiving and Communicating system (PACs) of that hospital. The previous normal study will help in identifying any pathology take place in the future easily. What if all the patients did have a previous studies for the brain as some kind of documentation? It will help a lot. The aim of this paper is to propose a new idea that required for all the citizens in a country to have a normal brain MRI study recorded on their medical file and this MRI study updated every five years by undertaking an MRI scan. The usefulness of this idea can be imply in different ways. For example; when a patient affected by any type of neurological issue, we have a morphological documentation for the brain prior to that neurological event took a place. As well, this is will provide a database for researchers to find pre and post neurological event documentation. Furthermore, it will help in detecting and documenting senile atrophic changes over the time. Sometime patients will have a “silent stroke” which has no symptoms which can be detected by the brain MRI scan.

Validation – In pharmaceutical industry: Equipment validation: A brief review

Validation is the procedure which authorizing documentary evidences that prove, the following process/ method or activity will consistently produce the product which leads to the expected result (predetermined requirements). The validation program in pharmaceutical industries involves various components which are related to processing, cleaning, facilities, equipment, or instrumentation. In this review article, we will go through a brief discussion about one of the most preferred method of validation which is equipment validation. In equipment validation, we will discuss about its types in detail, what kind of documentation is required and applications/importance of validation in pharmaceutical industry. Nowadays, equipment validation becomes the regulatory requirement for pharmaceutical companies to precede the validation of new equipment’s/instruments. Meanwhile, the process of validation requires detailed knowledge of that instrument which is going to validated; therefore, the validation is usually performed by the company which supply that equipment.

BUILDING ARCHAEOLOGY DOCUMENTATION AND ANALYSIS THROUGH OPEN SOURCE HBIM SOLUTIONS VIA NURBS MODELLING

Abstract. The implementation of historical information within BIM (Building Information Modelling) platforms has experienced great development processes during last years, generating excellent studies based on Historic Building Information Modelling (Murphy et al., 2009; 2013). The HBIM developing growth is certainly explained due to advantages concerning the documentation step as well as monitoring operations for Cultural Heritage assets. In this sense, information concerning historical architectures can be extracted directly from walls and masonries and it is related to stratigraphic information derived from archaeological analysis: this kind of analysis is fundamental in order to comprehend the evolution of the construction site through the identification of layers due to modifications and actions (Parenti R., 2000).The inclusion of stratigraphic analysis inside a HBIM workflow could be an innovative point as far as the management and monitoring is concerned. This kind of documentation, that was not designed to be included inside a common BIM platform, could be collected coupled with digital metric information derived from metric surveys even if it is still considered an ongoing research field, especially since Cultural Heritage assets have no BIM standard classification. For this reason, the main goal of this research is to adapt the possibilities of open source solutions concerning BIM methodologies to building archaeology documentation and analysis exploring unconventional strategies and also overcoming 3D modelling limitations of BIM software with free form modeler based on NURBS algorithm (Oreni et al., 2014), developing a particular scan-to-BIM process that, owing to the used opens source solutions and algorithm, can be renamed scan-to-openBIM via NURBS.

From Topophilia to Despair. Kashinath Singh’s Banaras Trilogy

Abstract Kashinath Singh’s three Banaras-novels are interesting examples of the continuing occupation of a contemporary author with urban space and its social life. Beyond Banaras I use “Banaras” in this article. The English spelling “Benares” is still used occasionally. The official name of the town is “Varanasi” (Hindi: Vārāṇasī). as a physical location, the three novels emulate deeper and more symbolic layers of meaning of a cityscape with its fascinating complexity of social, cultural and religious relations between tradition and modernity. Kashinath Singh’s Banaras trilogy also represents the changing perspective of its author on his surroundings over the course of his lifetime. While the plot of Apnā morcā unfolds in the culture of political debate during the 1960s and early 1970s in the university milieu, Kāśī kā assī can be read as a kind of documentation on the author’s vivid relationship with a traditional quarter of the town and its lifestyle. Rehan par Ragghū, the third novel, somehow continues the sense of loss that is already present in the nostalgic mood of Kāśī kā assī. It deals with the growing disillusionment of the elder generation with contemporary society, its self-focused individualism and social modernity as such. The novel is about the betrayed hopes of a father in his children, the opening rift between generations and the general decline of values. The change of the central location of the plots in the three novels from the university quarter and from a traditional environment in the old town towards the “new colonies” also marks a shift from progressivism towards existentialism, and from topophilia to despair.

Dynamics of the network economy: a content analysis of the search engine trends and correlate results using word clusters

Network economy is a relatively untouched area, strategic approach to the dynamics of this new economy is quite limited. Network economy is about the networks. Thus, it was decided to follow up the information on the internet including almost every kind of documentation. First, a deep relation analysis using trends was conducted to find out the related topics to new economy's dynamics: network effect, network externalities, interoperability, big data, open standards and social media. After the relation analysis, correlates of aforementioned keywords were analysed. Finally, all the clean 'top results' on the web were collected by the help of Linux command line tools into various, large text files. These files were analysed by the help of Nvivo qualitative analysis tool to form clusters. By the broad information available at hand, an extensive discussion on each result is written. It is believed that this new research approach will also guide many future researches on various subjects.

Relying on reference cases when evaluating new technical solutions? Evaluation of technical documentation in a case study

Serial failures have occurred when introducing new technical solutions in the Swedish construction industry. In an earlier interview study exploring introduction of new technical solutions, documentation and reference cases provided by the supplier are given as the main sources for evaluation. This paper aims at addressing the questions: 1. What kind of documentation concerning building physics are provided by suppliers? 2. How well does the suppliers’ documentation meet the need for verification? In order to address these questions, the case of hygrothermal performance of cross laminated timber structures in multifamily dwellings was chosen. An inquiry of data was sent out to four suppliers at the Swedish market, asking for documentation and reference cases provided. Based on the documentation given, an assessment was made of to which extend the documentation can support verification of appliance to the relevant requirements of the Swedish building regulations. The case study shows reference cases are scarce and existing documentation is not comprehensive, thus indicating the building industry might have a disproportional high confidence in reference cases. The results will be used to suggest requirements for reference cases to be used for verification.

ACTUAL ISSUES OF CONSTRUCTION AND TECHNICAL RESEARCH WITH APPLICATION OF TEST LABORATORIES

In modern conditions of development of the construction industry, the issue of improving the quality of research using test building laboratories has become urgent. The article details what kind of documentation the testing laboratory should have. The premises in which the tests are carried out must meet the requirements of the test methods applicable to the production area, the condition and conditions that are provided for in them (temperature, humidity, air purity, lighting, sound insulation and vibration, protection from radiation of electric, magnetic and other physical fields, parameters of all electric networks), as well as sanitary norms and rules, requirements for safety and environmental protection. The testing laboratory must have the equipment necessary for testing and measuring equipment in all respects. Testing equipment and measuring instruments must comply with the requirements of regulatory documents and test methods. This article describes the types of construction work that are subject to quality control, and also describes the basic requirements for laboratories, equipment and personnel. The article also addresses issues related to quality control in construction, as well as describes the most pressing issue that experts are currently facing, namely: the examination of the construction of roads, parking lots, sites and other road construction facilities. Moreover, the article reflects that it is necessary to conduct testing and quality control of building materials and quality control of the work performed. In testing construction and technical laboratories, they determine the technological and operational properties of concrete, brick, insulation materials; testing the strength of concrete on samples extracted from reinforced concrete and concrete structures; coring should be carried out according to technology using special equipment for diamond drilling in natural conditions.

Pocket Book of English for Graphic Technique As Learning Source and Medium of English for Graphic Technique Course

The rapid growth of information technology, especially by using devices, linear with practical needs, convenience, and affordability in learning media. Today, the presence of android-based applications is quite widespread, especially in the discipline of educational media and overcoming limitations in the context of learning. Pocket books are a source and medium of learning that, if packaged in a practical and sophisticated way, will be able to provide solutions to learning problems as well as to supply impetus for student interest and learning outcomes. This research aims to develop learning resources and learning media in the sort of a decent and useful Android-based pocket book application as an effort to increase student interest and learning achievement. The research method used is R & D with research subjects, namely students of the Department of Graphic Technique in semester 2. The data collection technique in this research was in the kind of documentation by organizing learning materials based on syllabus through relevant book references and conducting FGD with graphic and ESP experts. Furthermore, to ensure that the pocket book application is feasible, validation was carried out by 6 validators with a value of 4.61 with an excellent category then tested with students' response of 4.57 with a very positive category. Therefore, this application is proven to be able to accommodate the needs of resources and media for learning English for students because it can be a substitute for books that are easy to carry and can be used practically without limitation of time and place.

Definition of archival materials is one of the basic concepts of the Polish archival law, which precisely defines what kind of documentation should be kept eternally - for the good of the nation and its cultural heritage.

On scientific requirements for presentation of “new records”: the case of Dendrobium ruckeri (Orchidaceae)

How detailed and explicit should information presented in a “new record” account be to make the new record officially acceptable, and what kind of documentation is required? In recent years, this question has come to prominence, for example, due to the increasing rate with which new national taxon records are appearing in popular orchid field guides. The scientifically deficient publication of such “new records” precludes the alleged occurrences in Thailand from becoming formally accepted in the scientific literature – and the species in question from being considered for conservation in Thailand. To demonstrate the problem in detail, we present the case of Dendrobium ruckeri. First, we outline the historical introduction and occurrence of this species in the Thai botanical literature, and then provide a full taxonomic account, in effect demonstrating what we think a proper “new record” account should include. To avoid continued confusion over scientifically deficient new records, we urge non-professional botanists to properly document any new national record, supported by voucher specimens, and to publish their find in collaboration with appropriate professional botanists before including the newly discovered taxon in a field guide, or any other popular publication.

Instalacija "K 19" Zlatka Kopljara - upis etičkog koncepta u prostor

Recentno oblikovana, prostorna instalacija „K 19“ likovnog umjetnika Zlatka Kopljara postavljena u urbanoj jezgri Zagreba, smislom je i sadržajem upućena na spomen žrtvama holokausta. Instalacija se sastoji od pet skulptura izrađenih od cigala, prvotno korištenih za gradnju zidova logora u Jasenovcu, a potom za gradnju stambenih objekata nakon rata. Iste su cigle danas, korištene kao materijal za oblikovanje skulptura, postavljenih na standardiziranim postamentima građevinskih Euro-paleta. Slagane u horizontalnim nizovima, tvore vertikalne blokove neujednačenih gornjih bridova, organizirajući pri tom fragmente fiktivne cjeline u polukružni prostorni prsten spomeničkog karaktera. Polazeći od zapažanja da opisani rad određenu povijesnu situaciju dokumentira neprikazivim narativom, nastoji se pokazati kako time nije iznevjerena narav medija u kojem se djelo pokazuje. Teorijska se argumentacija izvodi iz različitih interpretativnih strategija koje se bave sidrenjem kulturnih reprezentacija u djelu, kao da su upis etičkog koncepta u prostor. Ukazuje se na postupke kognitivnog mapiranja u zadanim okvirima moralnih geografija, na spregu kontingencije i konceptualizacije baštinjenja, te na mnemopoetički perspektivizam i intersubjektivni karakter srodnih reprezentacija. Podražavanjem susreta „viđenog i pročitanog“, kao „vidljivog i iskazanog“, nastoji se ukazati na efekte fikcionalizacije i teatralizacije u djelu, koji ne urušavaju aspekte svjedočenja (minule) stvarnosti, već joj pomažu pri-kazati se u komunikaciji sa svijetom. Premda se nedovršene ili urušene zidove skulptura instalacije „K 19“ može interpretirati u kontekstu čitavog niza „promjenjivih atmosfera svjetova umjetnosti“, u zaključku se ukazuje da je sam autor, pripisujući svojstva formi, uspješno strukturirao sadržaj svoga djela, učinivši neprikazivo vidljivim.

The Diva's Fans: Opera and bodily participation

In this essay, I discuss what I see as one of the main characteristics of opera as a live art form: the very special relationship between a performing singer and a perceiving listener/spectator. I ask in what way the fascination with the live event and its effects can be replaced, or even produced, by mediatized forms of operatic performances. I focus on the possibilities of documenting and even intensifying one of the central ingredients of opera as a live art form: the special relationship between singer and audience member, the active perception of a singer's voice in performance. I focus on the distribution of single scenes, arias, or simply moments of live performances on YouTube from DVD's or pirates, extracted and filmed by fans, making them available to fellow fans worldwide and commenting on them, thus creating a kind of documentation and mediatized transformation of one of the essentials of live performance: the active participation, the chatting and talking, the discourse.

En mellanneolitisk palissad i södra Halland?

In this article I propose that a site that was investigated in southern Halland on the Swedish West Coast was a Middle Neolithic palisade enclosure. The site was excavated 1991 but the remains were not fully understood. The find is of course fascinating and the implications are far-reaching if my interpretation is accepted. More work needs to be done, to confirm my suggestion. Quite a large part of the feature may be preserved outside the excavated area and renewed fieldwork is the only way to find out its extension and state of preservation. However, at present I would like to stress that it was the kind of documentation and publication, a so called technical report, which enabled my interpretation though almost twenty years have past since the actual excavation. Bearing inmind how contract archaeological excavations are published today, we may ask whether similar accomplishments will be possible in the future; or whether we will have to accept that what is not interpreted during fieldwork or in the first publications, is forever lost.

Prosecuting Ethnic Cleansing and Mass Atrocity in the Former Yugoslavia and Darfur

This paper argues that the occurrence of ethnic cleansing can be effectively documented through a mixture of social scientific criminological and legal evidence, with criminological evidence playing a leading edge role. A major challenge is to delineate the boundaries of ethnic cleansing in relation to genocide. I adopt a distinction between atrocity crime and atrocity law to create a space in which this kind of documentation and analysis can occur. I examine how this kind of documentation and analysis was undertaken during real time in the Kosovo and Darfur conflicts.
