The paper presents the simplifying assumptions and formulates the mathematical model of the rotary kiln unit dynamical properties. Mathematical model of the rotary kiln unit is a combination of partial differential equations, integral and algebraical equations. In order to solve the model equations in transient states, the linearisation for small deviations from the steady state point is performed and in an analytical way the transfer matrices of the kiln, the grate cooler and the unit are evaluated. The main advantages of the model are following: relatively smell number of data, necessary in order to evaluate the model coefficients and analytical form of the transfer matrices.
