This research intended to analyze the economic condition and potential sectors of Central Java regional development areas (Barlingmascakep, Purwomanggung, Subosukawonosraten, Banglor). It used quantitative descriptive analysis, Location Quotient, Shift Share, and Klassen Typology. Specifically, the research examined the key economic variable and potential sectors in every development area. Compared to the previous researches that focused on regencies, provinces, or countries, the current research provided space for analysis of every single development area. Further, the results of potential mapping analysis showed that the policies in every development area were focused on potential owned by every development area. Some leading, potential, and developing sectors gained from Klassen Typology analysis were assumed to support the direction of the established policy.
