ROLE OF ASSISTIVE DEVICES IN THE REHABILITATION OF PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN IN SOUTHERN PUNJAB

This study was conducted to explore the Role of Assistive Devices in The Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped Children in Southern Punjab. This research was descriptive in its nature. In this study the total sample consisted 170 Senior and Junior Teachers of special education, Instructor Physical Education (IPE) and Physical Education Teachers (PET) working with physically handicapped children. It was concluded that the assistive devices proved helpful to minimize the level of disability of children with physical impairment. The results reflect that according to the parents of children with physical disabilities, the usage of assistive devices played a positive role for the rehabilitation of the children with physical impairment. Services of the professionals such as, Physiotherapist, Psychologist, Instructor Physical Education (IPE) or Physical Education Teacher (PET) should provide in the all institutions of physically disabled children. From Innovation to Intrapreneurship: Fostering academic success via the GridlockED project and innovation fund.

Funding for educational innovations is increasingly scarce in academic medicine. While there is some funding for medical education research, this is often for discovery or application work, and there are few avenues for those with a heavy innovation focus to fund early work. The objective was to develop an intrapreneurial unit focused on medical education projects and scholarship. The GridlockED and TriagED games are educational or serious games that seek to teach health care learners about emergency medicine processes. Both games were cocreated with learners and brought to market in the past 3 years. All of the proceeds from the sales of these games have been accrued over time to create a new innovation fund. This fund seeks to support trainees and early career educators in their medical education projects. Sales for GridlockED began in March 2018 and the TriagED began in November 2019. In the first year, sales for GridlockED yielded a total of $9,534. After 18 months of sales, the fund has accrued a total of $14,530. The fund has helped finance the development of new games. Additionally, the fund awarded two internal $500 Kickstarter grants to assist with evaluating and improving two local education projects. The GridlockED and TriagED games have also spurred multiple academic opportunities for junior educators interested in this domain: five workshops, eight conference abstracts, two peer-reviewed papers, and two research protocols are being developed. The GridlockED and TriagED games represent a new academically oriented, intrapreneurial approach to medical education work.

Perception Medical Faculty Regarding Students' Classroom Incivilities and Coping Strategie

Objectives: To explore perception of medical faculty regarding students' classroom incivilities and coping strategies. 
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
 Place and study duration: Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College, Sialkot, Pakistan from January to April 2020. 
 Methodology: A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect responses from the faculty. The study was carried out on 125 participants. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0.
 Results: Of 125 faculties 67(53.6%) were males. Junior faculty members were 80(64.0%). Irritating remarks (89.0%), cellphone use and cheating in the exam (87.0%) were the most common incivilities and reluctance to answer questions (40.0%) was the least common. Being friendly/respectful to students, passionate, establishing clear rules, starting class on time, using eye contact and variable students' engaging activities, encouraging students to self-evaluate their behaviour and welcoming their suggestions were supported by >90% of the faculty. However, humiliating remarks to correct the students' incivility was unanimously rejected. In comparison, the use of cell phones, irritating remarks, whispering, talking out of turn, arriving late in class, cheating in exams and leaving the cell phone bell "on" equally bother most junior and senior faculty. Overall, the female junior teachers from basic subjects with experience <10 years were significantly (p <0.05) more sensitive to incivilities.
 Conclusion: The most common incivilities were irritating remarks/gestures, cell phone use and cheating in examination. Teaching with passion/enthusiasm was the most favourite coping strategy. However, humiliating remarks to correct the incivility was strongly rejected. Junior, female, less experienced demonstrators from basic disciplines were more vulnerable to rude behaviour.

Specific steps in the operation determine resident speed: Experience with a live tissue simulation model of laparoscopic nephrectomy.

It is increasingly important to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in resident education. We hypothesize that slower performance of specific operative steps in laparoscopic nephrectomy accounts for much of the slower operative speed observed in junior residents vs. their senior colleagues. Therefore, we sought to evaluate the by-step time-differential between experienced senior residents and their junior colleagues in a live-tissue simulation. Residents participated in our swine model surgical simulation of laparoscopic radical and partial nephrectomy (LRNx and LPNx). PGY5 and 6 residents were considered senior; junior residents were PGY3 and 4. We defined discrete surgical steps. Residents' post-graduate training levels were tracked and time-to-completion of each operative step was recorded. Seven live-tissue simulations sessions took place, with 12 residents conducting 22 operations (12 LRNx, 10 LPNx). On average, each resident operated in 2 simulation sessions (range 1-4). The average time required by senior residents for LPNx was 152 min; junior residents required 173 min (p = 0.35). When considering the operative steps, juniors required nearly twice as much time to achieve hilar control (42 min vs. 23 min, p = 0.03). Significant differences in performance time were not seen in the other steps. The performance differential between senior and junior residents conducting nephrectomies was most evident during hilar dissection. Our study suggests that specific efforts should be focused on teaching junior residents the skills required for this step early in their training.

Online Learning Applications Used by English Language Education Study Program Students Batch 2017 on Teaching Practice 2020

This study aimed to find out which online learning apps ELESP batch 2017 students prefer to use during their online teaching practice in 2020, with the most common apps being ZOOM, Google Classroom, WhatsApp, and Telegram. The study used the Quantitative-Descriptive research method in the English Language Education Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University. The total sample size for this study was 45 students, with 26 teaching senior high school and 18 teaching junior high school. The data was subsequently gathered by distributing Google Form-based questionnaires, followed by interviews to obtain additional in-depth and precise information. The findings revealed that Google Classroom, WhatsApp, ZOOM, and Telegram were utilized by ELESP students in the 2017 batch, with Google Classroom being the most preferred due to its comprehensive features that facilitate online learning. On the other hand, Telegram is a lesser-used app since it is not as effective as the others in controlling student activity, sorting grades, and completing practical assignments. Furthermore, students considered WhatsApp to be more identifiable than Telegram, but the two apps are equivalent in functionality because they are both chat-based. Finally, ZOOM is also beneficial, especially in student control, due to its meeting-based program and effectiveness in controlling students' activity. However, it is ineffective in presenting written assignments.

Implementation of Curriculum 2013 for French Subject Based on Phenomenological Perspective

The curriculum 2013 (K.13) has been applied since 2013, but its implementation in the French language teaching at high school has not been widely studied. This study aims to determine the implementation of K.13 in French language teaching at high school. This study is a qualitative research with phenomenological approach involving four French teachers: 2 senior teachers and 2 junior teachers. The data are obtained through interviews and analysed using Miles and Huberman theory. The results showed that those four French teachers had implemented K.13 in their classrooms. Likewise, there are some teachers who have applied scientific approach, PBL, discovery learning, and PjBL.

Teachers’ Feedback on EFL Writings from Sociocultural Perspective

Writing skill is one of the difficult skills to acquire in learning a second language. Therefore, the feedback that the students receive from the teachers should be understandable and improve students’ writing skills. This study examines the teachers’ experiences in giving feedback on students’ writing performance through a sociocultural perspective. The participants of this study were 8 English teachers of junior and senior high schools in Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra. The data were collected through online interviews and analyzed in a thematic approach by transcribing, coding, categorizing, and interpreting. The result shows that teachers prefer to use teacher-student conferencing in giving writing feedback since joint participation and transaction occur in the learning process. It is compatible with the principle of the sociocultural approach. In addition, teachers are more concerned about students’ grammatical errors rather than structure and content. It is due to students finding it difficult to implement the grammatical rules into their writings. Furthermore, unfocused corrective feedback points out a range of error types. However, the strategy is hard to implement for students with lower proficiency levels.

Empirical study of professional development of higher education teachers

The investigation was undertaken to study Professional development of Higher Education Teachers. This study examines university teachers and college teachers professional development (PD) on the basis of length of service. The 420 teachers participated in this study from (University of Kashmir 120 and Govt. Recognized Degree Colleges college 300). Random sampling technique was used with equal chance for every University and College teacher to get selected in the sample. For the purpose of present study, Professional Development Index Scale (PDIS) has been constructed by the investigator to measure the level of professional development of the subjects. Percentage, mean, standard deviation and t- test were used to analyze the data. While analyzing the data significance of mean difference between University and college senior and junior teachers on various dimensions of Professional Development, the result depicts that both the groups turned to be significant on professional knowledge dimension. It means that university senior and college senior teachers possess better professional knowledge and professional ethics than their junior teachers. The results further reveal that university senior teachers are well versed with the subject matter and are more reflective in teaching learning process.

JOB SATISFACTION AND PERFORMANCE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS

This study aimed to investigate and explore the impact of job satisfaction on the performance of Math junior teachers. To facilitate such concern, a survey questionnaire was used to determine the level of job satisfaction with indicators covering compensation and benefits, leadership of administrators, social relationship, and work environment.Data mining on teachers IPCRF rating were also collected that served as the basis for performance. Unstructured Interviews to the respondents were done by the researcher to validate the gathered data. Frequency, Percentage, Mean, T-test were the statistical tools used in this research. The results showed that teachers overall job satisfaction level for compensation and benefits and social relationships were at a strongly satisfied level while leadership of administrators and work environment were at a satisfied level. In terms of level performance, 70% of the teachers were at outstanding level and 25% were at very satisfactory level.All job satisfaction demographics namely: compensation and benefits, leadership of administrators, social relationship and work environment showed significant difference towards teachers performance. Thus, a satisfied teacher can also become a productive and performing teacher.

The Impact of Covid-19 on the Implementation of Online Learning at SDN Jenggot for the 2020 Academic Year

This study was to find out how the implementation of the online learning model is, the inhibiting factors for the implementation of online learning and also to find out the supporting factors for the implementation of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in elementary schools. Online learning requires teachers to prepare learning that is more creative than ordinary learning when offline, because it requires special skills in terms of technology and adaptation to remote situations with students. The type of research used is a type of qualitative research. The focus of this research is on the impact of Covid-19 on the implementation of online learning. The research location is at SDN Jenggot, Krembung District, Sidoarjo Regency. The interview respondents were a total of 6 including teachers and students who were involved to strengthen the results of the interviews. Data collection techniques using literature review methods, observations and interviews. As for the validity of the data using data manipulation techniques so that the data is believed to be a truth or fact. The data analysis technique uses descriptive data in compiling research data so that it can be concluded that this study shows that teachers have different standards of success with other teachers, while the causative factors include age which is difficult to adapt to technology. Meanwhile, other junior teachers are easy to adapt to the online learning process. Teachers who apply online learning are able to operate devices and software that support online learning.

Unraveling Indonesian Out-of-Field Science Teachers’ Learning at Work

The research aimed to show the workplace as a substantial site of learning because it allowed learning opportunities that resulted from the nature of work and social interaction with workgroups. Learning in the workplace resulted from the demand for the upskilling of employees. Although workplace learning was often considered an informal type of learning, it allowed the employees to fill the gaps between their education and their current practice through coaching and mentoring. Workplace learning happened in schools, particularly schools that hired out-of-field teachers who did not have a teaching qualification. The qualitative single case study involving teachers with more than ten years of experience teaching junior high school science in Indonesia aimed to understand better how teachers who began teaching as out-of-field teachers learned from their experiences in the workplace. In-depth interviews were employed to gain insight into their learning processes. The findings show that schools can be a conducive environment for teachers to gradually acquire skills that are increasingly central to practice through learning from professionals (both provided and requested) and colleagues (including expert teachers). As out-of-field novices lack specific knowledge of teaching this content to students in context, workplace learning enables them to change gradually.

Analysis of Differences in Attitude, Motivation, and Work Commitment Between Senior and Junior Teachers at Upgrade State Vocational School in South Sulawesi

Law of the Republic of Indonesia No, 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers states that teacher competence is a set of knowledge, skills, and behaviors that must be possessed, internalized, mastered and actualized by teachers in carrying out their professional duties. This study aims to determine: (1) attitudes, motivation, and work commitment between senior teachers and junior teachers at State Vocational High Schools in South Sulawesi Province, and (2) differences in attitudes, motivation, and work commitment between senior teachers and junior teachers at Excellent State Vocational School in South Sulawesi Province. The research population is senior teachers and junior teachers at the State Vocational High School in South Sulawesi Province, as many as 94 teachers. The sample was drawn by random sampling method on both groups of teachers. The sample size for each group of teachers is 20 teachers, or 40 teachers. The variables considered are: attitudes, motivation, and work commitment of senior teachers and junior teachers. Data was collected by giving attitude, motivation, and work commitment questionnaires to both groups of teachers. The analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The inferential model is an independent t test. The results showed that: (1) attitudes, motivation, and work commitment of senior teachers were very high and junior teachers were high, (2) there were differences in attitudes, motivation, and work commitment between senior teachers and junior teachers, senior teachers were higher than junior teachers.

Analisis Perspektif Guru Fisika SMA Di Banda Aceh Dalam Pembelajaran Daring: Sulitkah Pembelajaran Daring?

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected various fields of life, including education, resulting in changes to the learning system. The purpose of this research is to analyze the difficulties experienced by physics teachers during learning online. The sample in this study was 8 physics teachers with the criteria of 2 male teachers and 6 female teachers with the specifications of 6 senior teachers and 2 junior teachers. The research method used a quantitative approac h with an instrument in the form of a questionnaire to analyze the difficulties of physics teachers in online learning, the analytical model used is interactive analysis. The results of this study illustrate that in general physics teachers in Banda Aceh have difficulty in teaching online. The most dominant difficulties are the lack of motivation and interest of students, student participation, and the difficulty of conveying abstract physics concepts. It is hoped that further research can examine the strategies that can be offered to physics teachers in online learning.

A Study on the Experience of Cross-Age Peer Tutoring for Core Basic Nursing Skills Training in Nursing Students: Focus on Senior Peer Teachers’ Experience

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to understand and describe the experience of senior peer tutoring for core basic nursing skills training in nursing students. Method : Data was collected in June 2019 by individual in-depth interviews of seven third-grade nursing students. The transcribed data underwent thematic analysis. Result : The analysis revealed four themes. First, “Senior peer tutoring to improve education and nursing skills performance” illustrates participants’ motivation to apply for senior peer tutoring. Second, “Training and feedback to become a senior peer teacher” describes re-learning and practice nursing skills under professor coaching through a peer teacher competency empowerment program before senior peer tutoring. Third, “Win-win nursing skills education field with junior students” delineates the experience of growing together as senior peer teachers help and teach junior. Last, “Development through self-reflection” illustrates self-awareness what needs to be improved and reserve to be a good nurse in the clinical field. Conclusion : These findings suggest that cross-age peer tutoring can supplement limitations of same-age peer tutoring in core basic nursing skills education. Therefore, it is necessary to develop competency empowerment programs for senior peer teachers to improve confidence in education and nursing skills performance.

Exploring the Effect of Mobbing in Vocational Secondary Schools on Teacher Performance

Recent psychological and physical harm to teachers preventing educational institutions from achieving their objectives has motivated our investigation into the effect of mobbing in vocational secondary schools on the performance of teachers. It has been predicted that the person subject to mobbing may work more efficiently due to higher ambition or fear culture or on the contrary may have a lower performance. Thus, the present study was designed to determine the relationship between mobbing in educational institutions and performance. The study sample consists of 251 teachers; 130 females and 121 males, employed in the vocational secondary schools of the Ministry of National Education in the province of Düzce. The data collection tools used in this study were chosen by taking into account the variables to be measured and included the Personal Information Form which consisted of gender, vocation seniority, branch, educational level, and age information of teachers in secondary schools, the Mobbing Scale consisting of 23 items and developed by Özözen-Danacı (2009), and the Teacher Performance Enhancement Survey, a 5-point Likert scale consisting of 26 items. Results of the study indicated a significant negative relationship between mobbing and performance; female teachers were more exposed to mobbing than male teachers; and, junior teachers suffered the most from mobbing. Awareness of the mobbing phenomenon and necessary preventive measures in education institutions, the informing of teachers and educators and the general consciousness between school personnel about mobbing should be ensured.

Unpacking economic programme theory for supervision training: Preliminary steps towards realist economic evaluation.

Cost studies are increasingly popular given resource constraints. While scholars stress the context-dependent nature of cost, and the importance of theory, cost studies remain context-blind and atheoretical. However, realist economic evaluation (REE) privileges context and the testing/refinement of economic programme theory. This preliminary REE serves to test and refine economic programme theory for supervision training programmes of different durations to better inform future programme design/implementation. Our preliminary REE unpacked how short (half-day) and extended (12 week) supervision training programmes in Victoria, Australia, produced costs and outcomes. We employed mixed methods: qualitative realist and quantitative cost methods. Economically optimised programme models were developed guided by identified cost-sensitive mechanisms and contexts. As part of identified context-mechanism-outcome configurations (CMOCs) for both training programmes, we found a wider diversity of positive outcomes but greater costs for the extended programme (11 outcomes; AU$3069/learner) compared with the short programme (7 outcomes; $385/learner). We identified four shared cost-sensitive mechanisms for both programmes (training duration, learner protected time, learner engagement, and facilitator competence) and one shared cost-sensitive context (learners' supervisory experience). We developed two economically optimised programme models: (1) short programme for experienced supervisors facilitated by senior educators ($406/learner); and (2) extended programme for inexperienced supervisors facilitated by junior educators ($2104/learner). Our initial economic programme theory was somewhat supported, refuted and refined. Results were partly consistent with previous research, but also extended it through unpacking cost-sensitive mechanisms and contexts. Although our preliminary REE fills a pressing gap in the methodology literature, conducting REE was challenging given our desire to integrate economic and realist analyses fully, and remain faithful to realist principles. Attention to training duration and experience levels of the facilitator-learner dyad may help to balance the cost and outcomes of training programmes.

Character-based Lesson Plan in Constructing Tolerance for Student

One of the factors leading to success in learning is the teacher’s lesson plan. The more well-developed the lesson plan is, the better the result. Recent findings suggest some teachers in Indonesia neglect the development of their lesson plans. Their planning may be superficial, and their documents may be prepared merely to satisfy educational administrators. The research reported on in this paper analyses how far the development model of character-based lesson planning reflects the internalization of local cultural values. Technically, this research utilizes a descriptive-qualitative approach, specifically collecting data from teachers who span the Senior High School and are dispersed in all regions of Indonesia. Data collection in this study was made by interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis then includes four phases, such as data reduction, display, analysis, and concluding and verification. This study concludes that (1) Junior teachers were more cautious and idealistic or rigid in their formulation of lesson plans than experienced teachers, and (2) the development of character-based lesson plans could be carried out through internalization of local cultural values.

Teachers' Attitudes toward Turkey Education Informatics Network during the Distance Education Period in the Covid-19 Pandemic

In this research, teachers' attitudes toward Turkey Education Informatics Network (EIN) during the distance education period in the Covid-19 Pandemic are examined. The participants of the study, which was carried out in the descriptive survey model, consisting of 789 teachers, most of whom are primary school teachers, who provide distance education in the Covid-19 pandemic. "Educational Informatics Network Attitude Scale" was used as a data collection tool in the study. As a result of the research, it is seen that most of the teachers use EIN and the EIN Live Lesson application, and they access EIN mostly with their personal computers and smartphones. However, teachers stated that they used messaging applications effectively in the distance education process. Besides, when the attitudes of teachers towards EIN were examined according to the levels they worked at, it was seen that secondary school teachers showed a more positive attitude towards EIN than primary and high school teachers, and they found EIN more necessary. When the attitudes of teachers towards EIN were examined according to their branches, it was seen that foreign language teachers showed a more positive attitude towards EIN compared to primary school teachers and teachers in other branches, and found EIN more necessary. It has been observed that young and junior teachers have increased positive attitudes towards EIN and they think EIN is necessary. The results of the research show that teachers use the EIN. However, there was not enough opinion among teachers about the applicability of EIN.

The influence of the leadership of the principal and school committee on teacher performance

This study aims to determine the effect of the leadership of the school principal and school committee on the performance of the teachers of the State Junior High Schools in Muaradua District, by using quantitative methods with this type of correlational research. The research population consisted of 107 teachers at the State Junior High School in Muaradua District. The research sample was 48 people. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique, namely sampling by determining certain criteria. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis techniques and multiple regression. The results showed that: (1) The leadership of the principal has a positive and significant effect on the performance of the teachers of the State Junior High Schools in Muaradua District; (2) The school committee has a positive and significant effect on the performance of the teachers of State Junior High Schools in Muaradua District; and (3) The leadership of the principal and the school committee jointly have a positive and significant effect on the performance of the teachers of the State Junior High Schools in Muaradua District.
