The article examines the problematic issues of development and use of engineering methods that are scientifically comprehensive in design and planning and directly in the production processes of elements of sewing products. The contradiction between the principles of project and production-technological formation in the form of a chain is specified: "construction - technology - material - form - expertise". The problem of qualitative assurance of artistic and design design, which provides a quantitative assessment of product quality characteristics, is indicated and solved. The possibility of estimating a certain metric dimension related to the parameters of the obtained form from taking into account the technological properties of the processed materials. In the processes of forming with the use of hygro-thermal treatment, the following are not taken into account: compaction of the material as the limits of longitudinal compression; areas where changes in the mesh angle of the material occur. It has been proven that for these processes, the transition from planar action on the material to linear action along a curvilinear contour is optimal, and the process of convexity formation was performed for the first time. A real sample of the obtained convexity is presented and analytical modeling is performed with the determination of the relationship between the ability material for forming - technological properties of the material and parameters of the form. Devices for the study of dry and moistened samples by the method of determining the critical value of material deformation are proposed. The prospect of further research is the introduction of the developed complex direction of research and implementation of form-making in innovative developments with the proposal of joint participation and discussion to researchers.
