Innovative design and construction of the sponge city facilities in the Chaotou Park, Talent Island, Jiangmen, China

In order to improve the ecosystem, protect the water environment, solve the problems of urban waterlogging and water pollution, and promote the sustainability of society and ecology, innovative design of sponge city facilities and green infrastructure was carried out in the Chaotou Park, Talent Island, Jiangmen, Guangdong, China. The sponge city facilities in the Chaotou Park were designed in consideration of the local cultural, geological, geographical and hydrological characteristics, methods of ecological construction and other related green concepts. Some innovative sponge facilities, such as gravel contact oxidation system, combination of bioretention cells and multifunctional ponds, were designed for improving the water quality and reducing excavation. The water system of the Chaotou Park was laid out to connect with the Xijiang River to heighten the flood control standard and maintain the water quantity and quality. The volume capture ratio of annual rainfall and annual pollutant control rates of the project were calculated by volumetric method. The construction of the sponge city facilities, according to the requirements of green construction, was initiated in August 2019 and completed in September 2020. After the completion, the ecological and social environment of the Talent Island has been improved, and the sustainable development of Jiangmen City has been promoted.

The Dynamics of Qiaoxiang Spatial Cultural Resources Integration - Taking Jiangmen City as an Example

This paper starting from the overseas Chinese building complex in Jiangmen -- 33 Market Street and Changdi Historic Street to approach the topic with the cultural resources in the hometown of overseas Chinese (Qiaoxiang). By exploring the past and future of Qiaoxiang resources in the form of overseas Chinese architecture, this paper tries to outline the cultural spiritual value of overseas Chinese life aesthetics in the context of globalization, based on the practice and dynamic value of cultural resources beyond the geographical material space generated by the dual function of traditional local values and western culture. It reveals the traditional concept, geographical concept and realistic intention of the people behind the overseas Chinese architecture in the specific historical background. As a dynamic cultural symbol, Qiaoxiang is not recognized by people through the architecture of overseas Chinese but sublimates the whole hometown resources into a whole cultural symbol of Qiaoxiang.

Analysis of the Spatial and Temporal Variation Characteristics of Ozone in the Pearl River Delta Region from 2016 to 2020

Based on the historical data of air ozone monitoring of Pearl River Delta from 2016 to 2020, the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of ozone in the Pearl River Delta were analyzed. The results showed that the mean change curves of Q3 in the seven cities in the Pearl River Delta region from 2016 to 2020 were M-shaped, and the change trend was basically the same, except Huizhou and Zhuhai. The over standard rate of daily mean value of Q3 in Jiangmen City from 2016 to 2020 was more than 10%, and the over standard situation of daily mean value of Q3 was serious. In the Pearl River Delta region, the change trend of the monthly mean value of Q3 in the same year was basically the same. On the whole, the mean value from August to November was higher, and the mean value in June was lower. The peak of Q3 concentration appeared between 12:00 and 16:00 in the daytime, and it was generally low at night.

Comparison and investigation on tidal levels designed for the coastal embankments in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

Tidal levels designed for coastal levee in Pearl River estuary have been provided by Department of water resources of Guangdong Province in 2002 and played important role in ensuring the security of coastal cities in recent decades. However, big changes have taken place in the hydrological regime of the estuary as the sea water level rise and Frequent storm surges in recent years. The proportions of the coastal levee lengths in Guangzhou and Zhuhai city occupied a large part of the portion in the Bay Area, about 30% and 23% respectively, while the shortest in Shenzhen city, accounting for only 5%. The designed tidal levels used for coastal levees in the past were compared with those proposed by PRWRC in the year 2011, showing lower about 0.2∼0.5m totally in the mouths and open waters including Shiziyang of the estuary. It would reach to about 0.6∼0.7m lower in the waters around Nansha district after considering the influence of the typhoon Mangkhut and Hato, while there was little variation in the net river area upstream in any case. The controlled tidal levels designed for coastal levees were analyzed for its applicability and it showed that those used in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Jiangmen city meet the requirements and were somewhat lower in Dongguan, Zhuhai and Zhongshan city under variation of hydrological regime recently.

Guidance Strategies for Online Teaching during the COVID-19 Epidemic: A Case Study of the Teaching Practice of Xinhui Shangya School in Guangdong, China

During the COVID-19 epidemic, schools responded to national calls to implement the “School’s Out, But Class’s On” policy, i.e. suspending classes without stopping learning. Xinhui Shangya School of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province uses online teaching to guide students to e-learning. We herein discuss the teacher guidance strategies of online teaching during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Comprehensive intervention during pregnancy based on short message service to prevent or alleviate depression in pregnant women: A quasi-experimental study.

Women have an increased risk for developing depression during pregnancy, and depression has a serious negative impact on the mother and infant. This study explored the effectiveness and feasibility of a comprehensive intervention based on using a short message service (SMS) to reduce depressive symptoms and prevent depression during pregnancy. This quasi-experimental study was conducted in three public hospitals with similar levels of care and maternal origin in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. One of the three hospitals was randomly selected as the intervention hospital, and the others were control hospitals. There were 4501 pregnant women who participated in this study. Pregnant women in the intervention group received a comprehensive intervention based on SMS after enrollment. Data were collected using questionnaires from August 2016 to August 2018. After the intervention, the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale scores of the intervention group were lower than those of the control group (intervention group: 3.9 ± 3.9, control group: 5.2 ± 4.3, P < .001), and the proportion of subjects with positive depression screening results in the intervention group was also significantly lower than that in the control group (intervention group: 9.0%, control group: 16.1%, P < .001). Moreover, compared with women in the intervention group, women in the control group who did not receive the intervention were more likely to be positive for depression in the third trimester (AOR = 2.04, 95% CI = 1.62-2.58). The SMS-based comprehensive intervention used in this study can effectively alleviate depressive symptoms and reduce the risk of depression during pregnancy.

HIV-1 genetic diversity and transmitted drug resistance among newly diagnosed HIV-1 individuals in Jiangmen, China.

Jiangmen is one of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Areas with frequent commercial intercourse, which is responsible for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) rapid circulation and genetic evolution for recent years. As a novel HIV-1 second-generation recombinant was previously reported in Jiangmen but the systematic molecular epidemiological investigation was still unknown. A retrospective study on HIV-1 genotypic characteristics and the emergence of transmitted drug resistance in this region was necessary. A total of 224 newly diagnosed HIV-positive cases were randomly selected in Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province between 2018 and 2019. The partial gag (1080 bp), pol (840 bp), and env (460 bp) genes were amplified using nested polymerase chain reaction followed by sequencing. The phylogenetic and recombination analysis as well as HIV-1 drug resistance were performed to surveillance. Sexual transmission was determined to be the major risk factor in Jiangmen. Phylogenetic analysis detected the genotypic distribution as follows: CRF01_AE (36.65%,70 of 191), CRF07_BC (32.46%, 62 of 191), CRF08_BC (4.71%, 9 of 191), CRF55_01B (5.24%, 10 of 191), CRF59_01B (3.14%, 6 of 191), subtype B (4.71%, 9 of 191), subtype C (1.05%, 2 of 191) as well as unique recombinant forms (12.04%, 23 of 191) consisted of seven recombinant patterns, which originated from multiple regions of China. Low-level prevalence of Surveillance Drug Resistance Mutations (2.1%) were predicted but drug-resistant mutations showed at a high level (15.4%) especially mutations in RT gene at position 179 were found to be the most frequent in the therapy-naïve population. Our study highlighted the critical importance of monitoring the emerge of recombinant strains among newly diagnosed HIV-1 individuals along with drug resistance regularly to prevent multi-channel introduction and breakout of new HIV strains.

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;A new species of &lt;em&gt;Ilex&lt;/em&gt; sect.&lt;em&gt; Ilex&lt;/em&gt; (Aquifoliaceae) from Guangdong, China&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

A new species, Ilex jiangmenensis, is described from Gudoushan Provincial Nature Reserve of Jiangmen City, a coastal city in southern Guangdong, China. It was observed to grow in rock crevices or beside the evergreen broad-leaved forests in the mountains of Gudoushan and Nanfengshan at an elevation of 50–550 m. The new species differs from its morphologically most similar species I. pingheensis by its much smaller leave blade, acute or short acuminate apex of leave blade, pistillate inflorescences with fascicles 1–2(–4)-flowered, and staminate inflorescences with individual branches of the fascicles (1)–3-flowered.

Investigation of Anxiety and Its Influencing Factors in Postpartum Nurses Returning to Work from Giving Birth to a Second Child

<i>Objective:</i> We attempt to investigate the anxiety and its influencing factors in postpartum nurses returning to work from second childbirth so as to provide reference basis for making intervening measures to promote physical and psychological health of the postpartum nurses. <i>Methods:</i> We conducted a network questionnaire survey. Firstly, convenience sampling was used to select postpartum nurses who return to work from giving birth to a second child in public hospitals affiliated to Jiangmen City from September 1^st 2018 to December 31^st 2018. Then we adopted Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) to conduct a cross-sectional study of the anxiety of postpartum nurses returning to work from giving birth to a second child. We later used Logistics regression analysis to analyze the influencing factors of anxiety of the postpartum nurses. <i>Results:</i> the average score of 702 postpartum nurses on anxiety was (48.64±11.57), and the incidence of anxiety was 42.1%, among which the incidence of mild anxiety was 25.7%, moderate anxiety was 11% and severe anxiety was 5.4%. The Logistics regression analysis showed that duty, coping style, family function and social support were the factors that influenced anxiety of the postpartum nurses (R²=59.41%). <i>Conclusions:</i> The situation of anxiety of postpartum nurses returning to work after giving birth to a second child is severe, and family function is a major influencing factor of their anxiety. Nursing managers can help reduce the influence of family function on anxiety of postpartum nurses through providing psychological adjustment for them, help for their family and support for their work.

Medium- and Long-Term Predictions for Coastal Economies Based on Support Vector Regression

Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.In this article, we analyze the characteristics of coastal economic development as well as the characteristics of mid- to long-term economic forecasts, expound on the existing shortcomings of current economic forecasting methods, and point out that, because of the high degree of nonlinearity, coupling, and time varying in the coastal economic system, the existing economic forecasting method is not competent. In addition, we analyze the support vector regression algorithm, and on that basis, put forward an idea for medium- and long-term predictions about the coastal economy based on support vector regression and establish a corresponding mathematical model. Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, China, is used as an application object to show the validity of the model.

Hemorrhagic gill disease of Chinese perch caused by Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida in China

Chinese perch (Siniperca chuatsi), is a major freshwater fish species of high economic value in the south of China. The disease is a major factor that restricts the development of Chinese perch aquaculture. In this study, we characterized a new pathogen in Chinese perch. In April 2018, the mortality of fish was measured in a Chinese perch farm (E113°04′, N22°40′) located in Jiangmen city, Guangdong province. The pathogen was identified as Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida by biochemical characterization and molecular analysis. Experimental infection was carried out with healthy Chinese perch and showed that the 50% lethal dose (LD50) was 3.01 × 102 cfu/fish at 20 °C, but over 107 cfu/fish at 28 °C. These results suggest that A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida was the causal agent of the losses observed in the Chinese perch farm, and temperature may be an essential factor for disease outbreak. This is the first report of A. salmonicida subsp. salmonicida in Chinese perch, also the first report of A. salmonicida-infected fish in a tropical region. A. salmonicida is usually considered a cold-water fish pathogen; however, our results show that it can also infect warm water fish species in tropical climates in south China. Greater attention should be paid to the epidemiology and prevention of A. salmonicida in warm water fish, especially in winter.

Integrated assessment of ecological risk for multi-hazards in Guangdong province in southeastern China

Guangdong Province is the most populous and economically developed province in southeastern China. Tropical cyclones, rainstorm waterlogging, and geohazards are the principal natural hazards in this region. Using information acquisition analysis, entropy weighting, the ArcGIS technique, the concept of hazard chains, the spatial heterogeneity of hazards, vulnerability, and ecological risk from single hazards and multi-hazards were determined for grids of 1 × 1 km2; the ecological risks for each administrative city were ranked. Jiangmen City was the top one ranking in the 21 cities with highest ecological risks for multi-hazards, tropical cyclones, and rainstorm waterlogging; Qingyuan City was the highest one for the ecological risk of geohazards. Areas with grades of very high, high, moderate, low, and very low ecological risk accounted for 1.78%, 7.10%, 18.22%, 34.39%, and 38.51% of Guangdong Province, respectively. Most areas of Guangdong Province had favorable ecological environments and low ecological risks. Natural hazard assessment greatly benefits from ArcGIS because spatial methodologies can be fully explored during the entire risk evaluation process, from data integration to risk appraisal, and finally for decision-making. This study concludes that integrated approaches to multi-hazard assessment may assist in risk management of natural hazards in Guangdong Province in southeastern China.

Epidemiological characteristics and latent class analysis of non-marital heterosexual behaviors among human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome individuals in Jiangmen, Guangdong province between 2015 and 2017

Objective: To study the epidemiological characteristics and latent classes of non-marital heterosexual transmission among human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) individuals in Jiangmen, Guangdong province between 2015 and 2017. Methods: HIV/AIDS cases from Chinese HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System were collected from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017. Inclusion criteria of HIV/AIDS were heterosexual transmission, non-marital heterosexual contact and older than 15 years. Exclusion criteria were homosexual contact, repeated reports, injecting drugs, current address in the non-Jiangmen area and not classified non-marital heterosexual contact. A total of 665 HIV/AIDS cases were included in this study. The general demographic characteristics (gender, age, ethnicity, education, occupation, etc.), floating population characteristics, HIV high-risk behaviors, HIV testing and other information were collected from database. Chi square test was used to compare the infection status of HIV/AIDS with different characteristics through commercial channels, and the latent class model was used to analyze the latent classes of HIV/AIDS. Results: Among 665 cases, the age was (48.73±15.61) years old. And 46.5% (309/665) cases were married and 73.8% (491/665) were male. Four classes were identified as heterogeneous sub-population by the latent class analysis: the first class occupied 40.13% (267 cases) with feature of nearly equal proportion of males and females and higher proportion of non-service industry workers; the second class occupied 37.40% (248 cases) with features of more than 46 years old, nearly all males, high proportion of farmers, high proportion of marital status, low education and the low propensity of floating; the third class occupied 11.90% (79 cases) with feature of cases from voluntary HIV testing and counseling in center for disease control and prevention; the forth class occupied 10.57% (70 cases) with the feature of less 45 years old, high proportion of service industry workers, no marital history and higher education. Conclusions: HIV/AIDS transmitted by non-marital heterosexual sex in Jiangmen city during 2015-2017 could be divided into four latent classes according to epidemic characteristics, which could provide appropriate classified guidance for AIDS prevention and treatment.

The microbiome and antibiotic resistance in integrated fishfarm water: Implications of environmental public health

Aquaculture, the production of farm-raised fish, is a major industry that employs and feeds millions of individuals across the globe, but which may also be a nexus of emerging public health threats. This study examined potential health risks associated with integrated aquaculture operations by with One Health approach using a suite of tools to study water contamination sources, pathogens, antibiotic resistant bacteria, and bacterial community in the water from fishponds. Water samples from 27 fishponds across 9 villages were collected in Jiangmen City, China. Microbial source tracking, pathogens (including Salmonella and Arcobacter), toxin-producing Microcystis, and antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) resistant to tetracycline, sulfonamide, and carbapenem were quantified with qPCR. Bacterial community was determined with next-generation sequencing. All ponds exceeded E. coli single-day maximum criteria of US, and 67% ponds exceeded World Health Organization (WHO) waste-fed aquaculture guidelines for protecting consumers and pond workers, representing a high degree of fecal contamination and potential pathogen risks in these ponds. The majority of the ponds were positive for human- (84%) and pig- (41%) associated fecal contamination. Salmonella and microcystin-producing Microcystis were detected in 37% and 15% of the ponds, respectively, while Arcobacter was not detected in any ponds. ARB were highly prevalent. Among the measured factors, canonical correspondence analysis and network analysis demonstrated that secchi depth, temperature and conductivity were the major environmental elements impacting the bacterial community structure, while Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were the major biological factor. This study demonstrated the presence of intersecting health risk factors in aquaculture facilities and can lay the foundation for addressing these risks in aquaculture management in rural China, with potential applicability in other developing regions dependent on aquaculture.

Emission Inventory of Anthropogenic VOCs in Jiangmen City

Anthropogenic VOC emissions are classified into four sources:industrial, mobile, life, and agricultural. An anthropogenic VOC emission inventory in Jiangmen for 2014 was developed using both "top-down" and "bottom-up" emission factor methods, based on statistical survey data. The results showed that the total anthropogenic VOC emissions in Jiangmen were 75.09 kt. VOC emissions from the industrial, mobile, life, and agricultural sources were 41.37, 19.16, 11.07, and 3.50 kt, respectively, which contributed 55.09%, 25.51%, 14.74%, and 4.65% of the total anthropogenic VOC emissions. Motorcycle manufacturing, container manufacturing, coating, printing ink, manufacturing of paint and similar products, printing and packaging printing, plastics and rubber products, artificial leather manufacturing, leather tanning, burning of fossil fuels, manufacturing of basic chemical raw materials, electronics manufacturing, adhesives manufacturing, and furniture manufacturing are key industries in Jiangmen, each of which emit more than 1000 t of VOCs annually. The main emission sources in Pengjiang, Jianghai, and Heshan are industrial, which account for more than 50% of emissions in each of these districts, whereas the main emission sources in Enping and Taishan are agricultural. Districts and county-level cities will be able to achieve better emission reduction by using the local VOC inventory in the formulation of VOC emission reduction policies.

Research on soil heavy metal accumulation and chemical environmental quality evaluation based on environment law

In this paper, it gives research on annual net flux and accumulative amount of the soil heavy mental in the Pearl River Basin on the basis of giving full consideration to environment law, by adopting such methods as theoretical calculation and field test and based on input/output flux model of soil chemical quality evaluation, and it gives heavy metal content warning and rating to paddy field, dry land and orchard in the Pearl River Basin based on heavy metal chemical evaluation warning method. The research conclusion indicates that: the main heavy metal pollution elements of paddy field and dry land in the Pearl River Basin are Cd, Ni and Hg; heavy metal pollution elements of orchard soil are As, Cr and Ni. Soil of the paddy field, dry land and orchard surrounding Guangzhou city is polluted more seriously; soil of the paddy field and dry land surrounding Jiangmen city and Zhongshan city is given severe pollution warning; soil of the paddy field, dry land and orchard surrounding Zhuhai and Zhaoqing is polluted slightly. Soil quality can be evaluated better by utilizing the input/output flux model for soil chemical quality evaluation proposed in this paper.

Analysis on the Current Situation and Development Countermeasure of Marine Transportation Industry in Jiangmen City

Based on the survey data of Jiangmen marine economy, this paper analyzes the current development of marine transportation industry in Jiangmen city, and summarizes the operation characteristics of the marine transportation industry, then points out the problems existing in the development, finally puts forward some suggestions on the development of marine transportation industry in Jiangmen.

Clinical manifestations of 10 cases of imported human Zika virus disease in Jiangmen city of China

Objective: To study the clinical manifestations and detection method for imported patients of Zika virus disease. Method: The records of symptoms, signs and laboratory results were collected and analyzed. The specimen of blood, saliva and urine from patients were collected. Results: Two of ten patients had mild fever. The visible cutaneous maculopapular rash of the trunk and extremities was observed in all patients. Seven patients were observed congestive conjunctivitis and only one patient gave an account of itching. No patient had symptoms of myalgia or arthralgia. The laboratory results of patients were normal except two patients had mild leucopenia and another one had thrombocytosis. The Zika virus RNA was detected in urine samples for a longest period. The detection rates of Zika virus RNA from the samples of blood, saliva and urine that collected in seventh day after disease onset were 0, 5, 8 cases, respectively. Conclosion: Epidemiology history, maculopapular rash, congestive conjunctivitis and Zika virus RNA being detected in urine can be considered as the important clinical criterion for making a definite diagnosis as Zika virus disease.

The Epidemiological Characteristics and Dynamic Transmission of Dengue in China, 2013.

BackgroundThere was a dengue epidemic in several regions of China in 2013. No study has explored the dynamics of dengue transmission between different geographical locations with dengue outbreaks in China. The purpose of the study is to analyze the epidemiological characteristics and to explore the dynamic transmission of dengue in China, 2013.Methodology and Principal FindingsRecords of dengue cases of 2013 were obtained from the China Notifiable Disease Surveillance System. Full E-gene sequences of dengue virus detected from the outbreak regions of China were download from GenBank. Geographical Information System and heatmaps were used to describe the epidemiological characteristics. Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic and Bayesian phylogeographic analyses were conducted to explore the dengue dynamic transmission. Yunnan Province and Guangdong Province had the highest imported cases in the 2013 epidemic. In the locations with local dengue transmission, most of imported cases occurred from June to November 2013 while local dengue cases developed from July to December, 2013. There were significant variations for the incidences of dengue, in terms of age distributions, among different geographic locations. However, gender differences were identified in Guangzhou, Foshan and Xishuangbanna. DENV 1–3 were detected in all locations with the disease outbreaks. Some genotypes were detected in more than one locations and more than one genotypes have been detected in several locations. The dengue viruses introduced to outbreak areas were predominantly from Southeast Asia. In Guangdong Province, the phylogeographical results indicated that dengue viruses of DENV 1 were transmitted to neighboring cities Foshan and Zhongshan from Guangzhou city, and then transmitted to Jiangmen city. The virus in DENV 3 was introduced to Guangzhou city, Guangdong Province from Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan Province.ConclusionsRepeated dengue virus introductions from Southeast Asia and subsequent domestic dengue transmission within different regions may have contributed to the dengue epidemics in China, 2013.
