At the Semiluk Refractories Plant new types of two-plate and single-plate mills were constructed from drawings supplied by the Ukrainian Scientific-Research Institute of Refractories. The mills were tested and are used for breaking up the clay before it is fed into disintegrators and for grinding waste material from the production of lightweight corundum bricks after it is first crushed in a jaw crusher. A two-plate mill is in use also at the Zaporozhe Refractories Plant for breaking up lumps of sintered silicon carbide powder.
