The dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a forcing item is derived by using of multiple scales analysis and perturbation method as a mathematical model of describing envelope solitary Rossby waves with dissipation effect and external forcing in rotational stratified fluids. By analyzing the evolution of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves, it is found that the shear of basic flow, Brunt–Vaisala frequency and β effect are important factors in forming the envelope solitary Rossby waves. By employing Jacobi elliptic function expansion method and Hirota's direct method, the analytic solutions of dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger equation and forced nonlinear Schrödinger equation are derived, respectively. With the help of these solutions, the effects of dissipation and external forcing on the evolution of envelope solitary Rossby wave are also discussed in detail. The results show that dissipation causes slowly decrease of amplitude of envelope solitary Rossby waves and slowly increase of width, while it has no effect on the propagation speed and different types of external forcing can excite the same envelope solitary Rossby waves. It is notable that dissipation and different types of external forcing have certain influence on the carrier frequency of envelope solitary Rossby waves.

A new Jacobi elliptic function expansion method for solving a nonlinear PDE describing the nonlinear low-pass electrical lines

The first elliptic function equation is used in this article to find a new kind of solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) based on the homogeneous balance method, the Jacobi elliptic expansion method and the auxiliary equation method. New exact solutions to the Jacobi elliptic functions of a nonlinear PDE describing the nonlinear low-pass electrical lines are obtained with the aid of computer algebraic system Maple. Based on Kirchhoff’s law, the given nonlinear PDE has been derived and can be reduced to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE) using a simple transformation. The given method in this article is straightforward and concise, and it can also be applied to other nonlinear PDEs in mathematical physics. Further results may be obtained.

Extended Jacobian Elliptic Function Expansion Method and its Applications for Solving some Nonlinear Evolution Equations in Mathematical Physics

Extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method is employed to find the exact traveling wave solutions involving parameters for nonlinear evolution equations. When these parameters are taken to be special values, the solitary wave solutions are derived from the exact traveling wave solutions. It is shown that extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method provides an effective and a more powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics. Comparison between our results and the well-known results will be presented.

Extended Jacobian Elliptic Function Expansion Method and Its Applications in Biology

In this work, an extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method is proposed for constructing the exact solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. The validity and reliability of the method are tested by its applications to Dynamical system in a new Double-Chain Model of DNA and a diffusive predator-prey system which play an important role in biology.

Exact Solutions for Some Fractional Differential Equations

The extended Jacobi elliptic function expansion method is used for solving fractional differential equations in the sense of Jumarie’s modified Riemann-Liouville derivative. By means of this approach, a few fractional differential equations are successfully solved. As a result, some new Jacobi elliptic function solutions including solitary wave solutions and trigonometric function solutions are established. The proposed method can also be applied to other fractional differential equations.

Exact Traveling Wave Solutions for Nano-Solitons of Ionic Waves Propagation along Microtubules in Living Cells and Nano-Ionic Currents of MTs

In this work, the extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method is used as the first time to evaluate the exact traveling wave solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. The validity and reliability of the method are tested by its applications to nano-solitons of ionic waves propagation along microtubules in living cells and nano-ionic currents of MTs which play an important role in biology.

New Exact Analytical Solutions for the General KdV Equation with Variable Coefficients

In this paper, a general algebraic method based on the generalized Jacobi elliptic functions expansion method, the improved general mapping deformation method and the extended auxiliary function method with computerized symbolic computation is proposed to construct more new exact solutions of a generalized KdV equation with variable coefficients. As a result, eight families of new generalized Jacobi elliptic function wave solutions and Weierstrass elliptic function solutions of the equation are obtained by using this method, some of these solutions are degenerated to soliton-like solutions, trigonometric function solutions in the limit cases when the modulus of the Jacobi elliptic functions m → 1 or 0, which shows that the general method is more powerful and will be used in further works to establish more entirely new solutions for other kinds of nonlinear partial differential equations arising in mathematical physics.

Propagation of nonlinear waves in bi-inductance nonlinear transmission lines

We consider a one-dimensional modified complex Ginzburg-Landau equation, which governs the dynamics of matter waves propagating in a discrete bi-inductance nonlinear transmission line containing a finite number of cells. Employing an extended Jacobi elliptic functions expansion method, we present new exact analytical solutions which describe the propagation of periodic and solitary waves in the considered network.

Exact Traveling Wave Solutions for the System of Shallow Water Wave Equations and Modified Liouville Equation Using Extended Jacobian Elliptic Function Expansion Method

In this work, an extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method is proposed for constructing the exact solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. The validity and reliability of the method are tested by its applications to the system of shallow water wave equations and modified Liouville equation which play an important role in mathematical physics.

Analytical Solutions for the Elastic Circular Rod Nonlinear Wave, Boussinesq, and Dispersive Long Wave Equations

The solving processes of the homogeneous balance method, Jacobi elliptic function expansion method, fixed point method, and modified mapping method are introduced in this paper. By using four different methods, the exact solutions of nonlinear wave equation of a finite deformation elastic circular rod, Boussinesq equations and dispersive long wave equations are studied. In the discussion, the more physical specifications of these nonlinear equations, have been identified and the results indicated that these methods (especially the fixed point method) can be used to solve other similar nonlinear wave equations.

New Explicit Jacobi Elliptic Function Solutions for the Zakharov Equations

In this letter, some new complex doubly periodic solutions to the Zakharov equations are obtained by using the generalized Jacobi elliptic function expansion method with the aid of mathematica software, some of which are degenerated to the solitary wave solutions and the triangle function solutions in the limit cases when the modulus of the Jacobian elliptic functions m→1 or 0, which shows that the general method is more powerful and will be used in further works to establish more entirely new solutions for other kinds of nonlinear partial differential equations arising in mathematical physics.

EXACT SOLUTIONS FOR NONLINEAR PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

In this article, we use the improved general mapping deformation method based on the generalized Jacobi elliptic functions expansion method with computerized symbolic computation to construct some new exact solu- tions for some nonlinear partial differential equations via the cubic nonlinear Klein - Gordon equation and the modified Kawahara equation. As a result, new generalized Jacobi elliptic function-like solutions are obtained by using this method. This method is more powerful and will be used in further works to establish more entirely new solutions for other kinds of nonlinear partial differ- ential equations arising in mathematical physics when the balance is positive integer and the balance number is not positive integers.

Integrable system modelling shallow water waves: Kaup–Boussinesq shallow water system

Extended F-expansion method is proposed to seek exact solutions of the integrable nonlinear Kaup–Boussinesq shallow water system, which can be thought of as a concentration of extended Jacobi elliptic function expansion method proposed more recently. By using the extended F-expansion, without calculating Jacobi elliptic functions, we obtain simultaneously a number of periodic wave solutions expressed by various Jacobi elliptic functions for the integrable nonlinear Kaup-Boussinesq shallow water system. In the limiting cases, the solitary wave solutions are obtained as well.

Improved General Mapping Deformation Method for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations in Mathematical Physics

We use the improved general mapping deformation method based on the generalized Jacobi elliptic functions expansion method to construct some of the generalized Jacobi elliptic solutions for some nonlinear partial differential equations in mathematical physics via the generalized nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation and the classical Boussinesq equations. As a result, some new generalized Jacobi elliptic function-like solutions are obtained by using this method. This method is more powerful to find the exact solutions for nonlinear partial differential equations.

A Variety of Exact Periodic Wave and Solitary Wave Solutions for the Coupled Higgs Equation

In this work, the coupled Higgs field equation is studied. The extended Jacobi elliptic function expansion methods are efficiently employed to construct the exact periodic solutions of this model. As a result, many exact travelling wave solutions are obtained which include new shock wave solutions or kink-shaped soliton solutions, solitary wave solutions or bell-shaped soliton solutions, and combined solitary wave solutions are formally obtained.

Forced dissipative Boussinesq equation for solitary waves excited by unstable topography

In the paper, the effects of topographic forcing and dissipation on solitary Rossby waves are studied. Special attention is given to solitary Rossby waves excited by unstable topography. Based on the perturbation analysis, it is shown that the nonlinear evolution equation for the wave amplitude satisfies a forced dissipative Boussinesq equation. By using the modified Jacobi elliptic function expansion method and the pseudo-spectral method, the solutions of homogeneous and inhomogeneous dissipative Boussinesq equation are obtained, respectively. With the help of these solutions, the evolutional character of Rossby waves under the influence of dissipation and unstable topography is discussed.

Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions for three versions of Benjamin-Bona- Mahony equation

A variety of exact solutions for the Kadomtsov-Petviashvili- Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (KP-BBM) equation, nonlinear Zakharov-Kuznetsov- Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (ZK-BBM) equation and the generalized ZK-BBM equation are developed by means of the extended Jacobi elliptic function expansion method. Soliton and triangular periodic solutions can be established as the limits of Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions. A Note on Exact Traveling Wave Solutions of the Perturbed Nonlinear Schrödinger's Equation with Kerr Law Nonlinearity

In this paper, we investigate nonlinear the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger's equation (NLSE) with Kerr law nonlinearity given in [Z.Y. Zhang, et al., Appl. Math. Comput. 216 (2010) 3064] and obtain exact traveling solutions by using infinite series method (ISM), Cosine-function method (CFM). We show that the solutions by using ISM and CFM are equal. Finally, we obtain abundant exact traveling wave solutions of NLSE by using Jacobi elliptic function expansion method (JEFEM).
