Understanding of the OSI System Interaction Model for Organizing the Educational Process and Student’s Independent Work.

This paper discusses the principles of network operation from the point of view of the OSI model, which is useful for teaching IT students in organizing independent work of students. This helps to understand the interaction of network devices, processes at each level of the model and their impact on the performance and reliability of the network. Understanding the OSI model not only improves the quality of independent work of students, but also prepares them for successful professional activity in the rapidly developing field of network technologies

Designing criteria of interactive educational environment at medical school to teach students of information technology field at professionally-oriented foreign language classes

Introduction. Applying lifelong learning approach in educational process requires to sustain this procedure with engaging, practice-oriented, active teaching methods, to develop critical thinking skills, practical skills, cognitive skills, cognitive education, social-emotional education, to make a model of interactive educational environment. The aim is to determine the criteria to make an interactive educational environment model at medical school to develop future IT students’ foreign language communicative competence. Materials and methods. The study to determine the criteria to make a model of interactive educational environment was being conducted at First Moscow State Medical University from 01.09.2022 to 08.04.2024. "Bioengineering and Bioinformatics" students as well as “Information Systems and Technologies” students were target of this study. The experimental part of this study consisted of theoretical review, observation, online testing, survey ‘needs analysis’ and ‘final survey in the form of cooperative metacognitive discussion, analysis of students’ reviews (essays on the topic “your attitude to the organization of your education in an interactive way”). Results. Online testing of indicating foreign language proficiency (English) showed diverse results among students withing one group. Besides, it refers to all courses and specialties. The needs analysis has demonstrated that students have strong motivation to learn a foreign language at a professional communicative level. The interactive classes observation and essays analysis (“your attitude to the organization of your education in an interactive way”) and the results of the final survey in the form of cooperative metacognitive discussion have illustrated that 90% of students are satisfied with educational process in an interactive way, others 10% either they are not used to work under such a regime or they believe that to build a process of education based only on the interactive methods is incorrect, or they are true introverts. Furthermore, due to these results we could single out some criteria for making a model of interactive educational environment. Conclusion. Obtained research data have theoretical and practical importance, because the goal of this study – to distinguish criteria for making an interactive educational environment model for development of future IT students’ foreign language communicative competence at medical school – was successfully achieved.

Using MOOCs to organise problem-based learning in the professional training of IT students

Introduction. The digital transformation of education plays a key role in the formation of in-demand IT specialists. In modern conditions, the method of problem-oriented learning is actively being introduced into the educational process of higher education and contributes to the formation of professional, communicative and digital competencies of IT students.Aim. The present research aimed to validate the incorporation of massive open online course (MOOC) components in the organisation of problem-oriented training for IT students to enhance their professional competencies.Methodology and research methods. The study was conducted over two academic years, beginning in 2022, at Academician E. A. Buketov Karaganda University. A total of 24 teachers participated in the specialised training of IT students, along with 86 students participated. At the first stage, a model was developed to integrate MOOCs into the structure of a specialised IT discipline within the framework of a specialised IT discipline, utilising problem-oriented learning. Additionally, the baseline level of students’ readiness to engage with MOOC courses was assessed. At the second stage, the effectiveness of utilising MOOC courses for implementing problem-oriented learning in the study of IT disciplines was assessed. At the third stage, the results were summarised and conclusions were drawn.Results and scientific novelty. The approaches to the organisation of problem-based learning in the preparation of IT students were defined. The use of Coursera MOOCs as the most convenient platform for studying IT courses was justified. A model of MOOC integration into the structure of an academic discipline in the organisation of problem-oriented learning was developed and experimentally tested.Practical significance. The results of an empirical study of student involvement in the use of MOOCs in problem-based learning prove the functionality of Coursera MOOC courses and their positive impact on the learning process. The feasibility of utilising MOOCs for implementing problem-oriented training aimed at developing students’ professional IT competencies is well-supported.

Pengenalan Tumbuhan Khas Kalimantan Tengah Kepada Anak Sebagai Upaya Melestarikan Kearifan Lokal Dalam Kegiatan Ecoprint

This community service aims to introduce local wisdom typical of Central Kalimantan through the Kelakai plant. This community service activity is integrated with learning, making ecoprinting a learning activity that can be used to introduce the Kelakai plant and help stimulate children's physical motor development. This is also done as an effort to preserve local wisdom in Central Kalimantan. The targets for community service participants are children aged 5-6 years old class B 2 Yusuf bin Yaqub who are at PAUD IT Al Ghazali Modern School Palangka Raya and students of MBKM (Free Learning Independent Campus) Early Childhood Islamic Education Study Program Faculty Tarbiyah and Teacher Training IAIN Palangka Raya are also actively involved in these activities. The results of community service at PAUD IT Al Ghazali Modern School Palangka Raya regarding introducing children to plants originating from Central Kalimantan show that children can get to know one of the local wisdom typical of Central Kalimantan, namely the Kelakai plant, and children also get stimulation in aspects of physical development motor.

Investigating the Association of Computer Vision Syndrome with Forward-Headed and Kyphotic Posture Among Undergraduate Information Technology Student

Introduction: Computers and visual display devices have become indispensable in our daily lives. The frequent use of these devices has led to the emergence of computer vision syndrome (CVS). Coupled with poor ergonomics, musculoskeletal diseases are on the rise due to excessive computer use. Accordingly, this study investigates the association between CVS and forward-headed and kyphotic posture in undergraduate IT students. Materials and Methods: We conducted an observational cross-sectional study involving 300 undergraduate IT students. We used a modified CVS questionnaire to assess CVS and the Kinovea software to diagnose forward head posture. We also used the occiput wall distance test to assess kyphosis. Results: In this study, a majority of undergraduate students (88%, 264 out of 300) exhibited CVS, resulting in forward head posture and kyphosis. There was a significant association between CVS, forward head posture, and kyphosis. Conclusion: Computer vision syndrome is strongly associated with forward head posture and kyphosis. Prolonged computer device usage leads to changes in body posture, affecting the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists/hands, upper back, and lower back.

Educational and professional task as a means of assessing the professional competencies of IT students based on the requirements of employers

One of the most important tasks of higher education under digitalization of all spheres of economy and society is training specialists in IT (including specialists in web development) who are in demand in the labor market. To address this task successfully, it is necessary to have close interaction between universities and employers at all stages of the implementation of basic professional educational programs from their creation to the assessment of the formation of professional competencies.The article is focused on the current problem of choosing and designing effective tools for assessing professional competencies of IT students within the framework of advanced training in web development. The article carries out an analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature in order to determine the optimal means of assessing professional competencies of students. The use of educational professional tasks as a means of modeling the professional activity of a graduate and evaluating the educational results of the university study process is substantiated. It is substantiated that employers gain a special role in the design and implementation of educational programs, including the formation of the repertory and content of educational professional tasks and so the necessity of employers’ representatives’ participation in the process of assessing the development level of professional competencies is explained.

AI chatbot: I want help, not the answer!

In recent years, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into educational settings has become a topic of great interest. As technology continues to evolve, educators and students are exploring how AI can enhance learning experiences. University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) and Kristiania University College (HK) are developing a web-based educational tool, DbPersist, where IT students can practice tasks within the database subject and receive automated feedback. The latest version now also offers students suggestions on how to utilize AI for learning while they are solving various database related tasks. In this study, we explore the students' experiences with getting automatically generated “prompts” for further use in their preferred AI tool, whenever they request assistance. Do they see the value in gaining experience in using prompts designed for learning? Do they believe it might help them using AI for learning purposes in other courses in their study? To answer these questions, we conducted surveys and interviews. Participants included bachelor students across various disciplines and multiple campuses at USN. The participants were all enrolled in database courses with learning goals involving the database query language SQL and ER modelling (drawing Entity-Relationship Diagrams). Early findings suggest that students appreciate the assistance provided by DbPersist’s AI prompts. They value the emphasis on AI-assisted learning and find the prompts useful for getting assistance in solving difficult tasks as opposed to getting complete answers. They also see the value in gaining experience in using AI chatbots using prompts designed for learning and understanding. As AI continues to shape education, tools like DbPersist offer exciting possibilities. DbPersist exemplifies how AI may be used to empower students, emphasizing learning and understanding alongside correctness.

Языковое образование онлайн: принципы создания размеченного корпуса ошибок в специализированном английском языке русскоязычных работников IT-сферы

Today, academic corpora are a matter of great interest to many linguists. The article examines the importance of academic corpora in modern linguistics and pedagogy as a tool for identifying typical errors in the speech of foreign language students. They reveal problems in foreign language acquisition and create new teaching methods. The paper reviews the existing academic corpora and error classifications. The authors developed a corpus of oral speech errors typical of Russian-speaking IT students that study English for IT purposes. The corpus relied on 50 video recordings of in-class activities in which students communicated with English-speaking IT specialists and made up dialogues in English. The corpus made it possible to identify the main difficulties experienced by adult learners of English for IT purposes. It involves a tagged classification of typical errors divided by language level into morphological, syntactic, lexical, and phonetic ones. The research demonstrated good prospects for developing other academic speech corpora with automated error tagging based on the speech of English learners.

Examining Instructional Approaches to Foster Soft Skills among Information Technology Undergraduates in Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Kenya

Abstract: This study examines the pedagogical methods meant to improve soft skill acquisition and development in information technology undergraduates in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. Utilizing a sequential mixed-methods design, the research adopted a two-stage cluster sampling where 10 universities were selected from a total of 31 within the region, representing 5 private and 5 public institutions. Thereafter, 1,143 undergraduate IT students were randomly sampled from an overall population of 3,814 enrolled students, while professors and IT technicians were purposively selected for qualitative interviews. Quantitative data in this respect were collected by using semi-structured questionnaires, capturing the points of view of stakeholders on perceived improvement in soft skills. Although the modern-day job markets require graduates with soft and non-cognitive skills, employers have nonetheless complained about the lack of such competencies among university graduates concerning aspects such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. This study was based on Vygotsky's social constructivism theory and investigated the development of soft skills among students taking a Bachelor of Information Technology at selected universities within the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. The results have indicated that modern learning methods support the development and acquisition of soft skills aptly. The programs for soft-skill are adequate and frequent training which impacts performance in other disciplines. Signs were proving that there was significant enhancement regarding interpersonal and cognitive competencies of the students as a result of collaborative projects, problem-solving in real life, and reflective practices. It also stresses that educational institutions need to orient themselves more toward interactive and practical teaching methods to better prepare IT graduates for the challenges of a modern workforce.

Comparative Effects of Gaze Stabilization Exercises and Cawthorne-Cooksey Exercises on Craniovertebral Angle and Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex in IT Students

Background: Vestibular dysfunction affects balance and spatial orientation, leading to symptoms like dizziness and impaired gaze stability. Forward head posture (FHP) is common among IT students due to prolonged screen time, exacerbating vestibular and postural issues.Objective: To compare the effects of Gaze Stabilization Exercises (GSE) and Cawthorne-Cooksey Exercises (CCE) on craniovertebral angle (CVA) and vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) among IT students.Methods: A single-blinded randomized clinical trial was conducted on 50 IT students aged 19-25 years with FHP. Participants were randomly assigned to GSE (n=25) or CCE (n=25) groups. Interventions were performed thrice weekly for 3 weeks. CVA and VOR were assessed pre- and post-intervention using a goniometer and clinical scale, respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 27 with Wilcoxon signed-rank and Mann-Whitney U tests.Results: Post-intervention, Group B (CCE) showed a significant increase in CVA (mean rank 26.80, U = 280.000, p = 0.527). Group A (GSE) demonstrated a significant reduction in VOR (mean rank 30.80, U = 180.00, p = 0.003).Conclusion: GSE effectively improved VOR, while CCE significantly enhanced CVA, indicating the potential for targeted rehabilitation in addressing vestibular and postural dysfunctions.

Mediating Effect of Student Engagement Between IT Facilities and Student Performance

The study investigates the role of the extent to use and value consideration of IT facilities on student performance and analyzes the mediating role of student engagement between IT facilities and student performance. Data collected from university students has been analyzed using the structural equation model. The results show that the extent to use of IT facilities has a significant positive impact on student performance, and student engagement plays a significant mediating role between IT facilities and student performance. This study will have significant implications for policymakers in deciding and designing appropriate technology for the education system of a country.

Shaping Digital Entrepreneurship: IT Students' Decision-Making Styles and Entrepreneurial Orientation

Currently, entrepreneurship is recognized as a significant professional choice, and education in informatics enhances the prospects for digital entrepreneurship. This study seeks to analyze the influence of decision-making methods and demographic factors of IT students in Turkey on their entrepreneurial inclinations. The study employed a quantitative methodology and gathered data from a sample of 736 IT students via a survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. The results indicated that the rational decision-making style was the most prevalent among 51.9% of the participants, while the intuitive style was observed in 7.1% and a balanced approach was adopted by 41%. Men exhibit a higher level of entrepreneurial intention compared to women, as measured by gender. The age variable reveals that the highest level of entrepreneurial aspiration occurs within the age range of 28-32. Findings has shown that receiving support from one's family has a beneficial impact on the desire to become an entrepreneur, encompassing both financial and spiritual aspects. Moreover, the existence of prior entrepreneurial individuals within the family further enhances entrepreneurial inclination. In conclusion, this research uncovers the necessary measures to comprehend and bolster the entrepreneurial aptitude of IT students.

INTEGRATED WRITING IN DIFFERENTIATED ESP COURSE AT TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

The current study aims to investigate the effectiveness of teaching integrated writing using differentiated tasks in an ESP university course. The mixed research method was used in the study. Eighty IT students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute voluntarily took part in the study in the 2022-2023 academic year. The integrated writing involved reading-writing, listening-writing, and reading-listening-writing tasks. The differentiation according to the level of foreign language proficiency and the learning style of IT students was implemented. The results showed that the percentage of IT students who improved their integrated writing skills due to the differentiation of foreign language proficiency level and the learning style in the first group was bigger than in the second one. It was concluded that teaching integrated writing with a focus on learners’ differentiation is a means of simultaneous development of reading-writing, listening-writing, and reading-listening-writing skills in the professional context. It also helps to diversify ESP instruction at technical universities.

Investigating the Acceptability of Students on Generative AI Tools: A Correlation Analysis among Selected Tertiary Schools in Metro Manila, Philippines

Artificial Intelligence has become the emphasis on the needs of future society. The digital era of education demands critical thinking skills, digital literacy and fundamental abilities to navigate and verify information. This development can be supported by the ability of AI chatbots to provide large volume of information in an interactive and efficient way. The goal of this paper is to examine the interest of the chosen BSCS and BSIT students in Metro Manila in utilizing three generative AI tools: Copilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini in the accomplishment of their academic requirements. A one-shot case study was carried out by the authors on six (6) selected universities in Metro Manila. A voluntary response sampling approach was employed to gather the participants in this study. The Slovin's formula was used to calculate statistically enough samples from the population. This study involved 209 CS and IT students, 157 or 75.12% of whom were males and 52 or 24.88% of whom were females, 45 or 21.53% were BSCS students and 164 or 78.47% were BSIT students. The data was initially recorded in a comma-separated value file. The extended TAM instrument was facilitated online using Google Forms by the participants which then imported into SPSS for data understanding and statistical treatment. It was found that out of eighteen (18) observed inter-item relationships, only six (6) or 33.33% were statistically significant and had considerable impacts. Moreover, SN → AT has the highest coefficient value of 0.788 followed by the factor PU → AT of 0.732 indicating their influence on generative AI tools attitude of use (AT). Lastly, PE → AT was shown having the lowest among relationships with 0.533 coefficient value. The study concluded that computer tertiary students in Metro Manila were generally amenable to the idea of introducing generative AI techniques into their academic responsibilities.

On the factors of students' cybersecurity behavior

The article is an exploratory research on the security awareness of university students in the light of various sociodemographic factors. Information technology, and information security in particular, plays a critical role in this context. Awareness is a fundamental component of security preparedness because it empowers individuals to recognize and respond to security threats and fosters a security culture. By educating students and teachers about the importance of security and best practices, educational organizations can significantly enhance their overall security posture. The article points out that raising awareness of information security is not a simple task and requires a systematic approach. In this respect, education has both the potential and the responsibility to develop an information security mindset. The results of the article show that although the average response value of 3.735 suggests a security-aware attitude, the significant difference between the minimum and maximum values indicates a high variability. Looking in more detail at information security factors, the article reveals that law students are more cautious about protecting personal data, while IT and engineering students are more open to online banking and shopping.

Some Solutions to Improve Programming Skills for Information Technology Students at Tan Trao University

In the rapidly evolving field of Information Technology, proficient programming skills are paramount for students aspiring to excel in their careers. This study investigates the current state of programming competencies among IT students at Tan Trao University, identifies the challenges they face, and proposes targeted solutions to enhance their programming capabilities. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, we gathered data through surveys, interviews, and performance assessments, revealing significant gaps in foundational knowledge, practical application, and problem-solving skills. Based on these findings, we recommend a multifaceted strategy that includes curriculum enhancement, hands-on coding workshops, peer mentoring programs, and the integration of industry-relevant projects. These solutions aim to create a robust learning environment that not only improves technical skills but also fosters critical thinking and collaboration. The implementation of these strategies is expected to significantly elevate the programming proficiency of IT students at Tan Trao University, preparing them to meet the demands of the tech industry and contribute innovatively to their future workplaces. This research underscores the urgent need for educational institutions to adapt and evolve their teaching methodologies to cultivate the next generation of skilled programmers.

Accentuation Networks of IT Students, Managers and Journalists: an Interdisciplinary Approach in Comparative Analysis

Introduction. Network diagnostic methods have an important advantage, which is the ability to integrate data from various scientific studies. In particular, the potential of the possibility of conducting diagnostics aimed at identifying the connectedness of the social and psychological characteristics of the accentuations of students of various fields of study is relevant.Methodology and sources. The conceptual ideas of various sciences involving the construction of a synthetic research methodology are used. The provisions of sociological science, social psychology and psychology on the nature, factors of formation and features of the manifestation of personality accentuations, as dependent on a wide variety of conditions, are integrated.Results and discussion. The obtained research results are presented in the form of accentuation networks, reflecting some features of the connectedness of accentuations. The main hypotheses of the study were confirmed, networks of accentuation of student journalists are built around mobile-emotional accentuations; networks of student managers are formed around aspirations to lead; networks of IT students are the most dense among the intellectual qualities and characteristics of students.Conclusion. Building networks of accentuation of students of various training profiles has a good prospect for the practice of diagnosis and correction of the educational process. Network modeling of the dynamics of the formation of students' accents as they study at the university provides a reliable basis for evaluating and managing the educational process.

SISTEM ABSENSI MENGGUNAKAN SCAN QR CODE BERBASIS ANDROID

Attendance is an important part of every educational institution. Where attendance is one of the main supports that can support and motivate every activity carried out. Like attendance at SMK Negeri 1 Sambelia which still uses the manual method (signature), this method is very vulnerable for an educational institution because of the level of discipline that cannot be controlled and can be misused by irresponsible people, other losses that may arise in manual attendance system is a data recapitulation that still takes a lot of time and effort. The purpose of this study is to design and build an android application that makes it easier for teachers to carry out the attendance process at school, the type of research used is qualitative and the results of this study are applications that utilize the Qr Code as the main component in helping the attendance process. The research method in this study is qualitative research where the data obtained are mostly descriptive of the observations that have been made, then the data will be analyzed qualitatively and described in descriptive form. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that this application still has many shortcomings that need to be developed again, it is very necessary for the role of IT students to help the development of digital technology in making attendance easier. Based on the application testing that has been carried out, the presentations of Strongly Agree 22.2%, Agree = 38.8%, Neutral = 25.9%, Disagree = 6.4%. Based on the presentation, the application made is quite good, although there are some shortcomings that must be improved.

Online Exam Portal

An online test is one that is conducted via the internet or an intranet utilizing a computer system. It is a web-based exam system. It works well as a mass education evaluation solution. Our system for online exams is built on a Browser/Server architecture. The multiple choice questions that are fed into the system are examined and automatically graded by the system. Even while it is comfortable, the classic pen and paper exam format has drawbacks in the current digital learning environment. IT students find these limits even more noticeable because they are used to using internet resources and platforms. In response, this proposal suggests creating an efficient, user-friendly, and safe online assessment system especially for IT students. This project goes beyond practicality. It increases assessment quality with interesting formats, empowers students with freedom, and promotes efficiency with quicker administration and grading. Teachers receive insightful data-driven information for bettering their curricula. In the end, it welcomes the digital age and uses cutting-edge evaluation techniques to get IT students ready for success

THEORY OF CONSTRUCTIVISM AND A COMMUNICATIVE COURSEBOOK AS A PREREQUISITE FOR ORGANIZING THE FIRST YEAR IT STUDENTS’ INDEPENDENT WORK AT THE ESP CLASSES

This article explores how the theory of constructivism, enclosed in the communicative coursebook, influences the design of independent work for the first-year IT students, learning a foreign language. It outlines the fundamental elements of constructivism such as self-directed learning and growth, as well as it considers two key dimensions of productivity: self-reliance and educational accomplishment with focuss on the crucial role of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and “scaffolding” conceptions within this paradigm. Our research emphasizes the efficacy of constructivism and the learning cycles of the communicative coursebook, built on the constructivists’ principles, in enhancing students' learning experiences, promoting active knowledge and skills acquisition, and cultivating critical thinking skills. Practical examples of applying constructivism to educational processes are provided here to enhance students' proficiency in English as a foreign language. Finally in this article, the four stages procedure of the students’ involvement into independent work within the communicative coursebook’s learning cycles- is described and the main assumption about the four-stage procedure, based on the experience of piloting the communicative coursebook, is made: this communicatively-oriented procedure appears to become an effective tool of learning, teaching and communication.
