This paper presents a three-session workshop model designed to integrate exploratory research and service to childfree couples and describes the pilot workshop and research from which it was derived. Focusing on each couples decision making commitment and mutual support regarding the decision to remain childfree this workshop design maximizes the utilization of participants insights so as to illuminate conceptual and practical issues associated with voluntary childlessness on both personal and collective levels. The compatibility of research and service is presented as applicable to other family life issues. (authors)
